Hello all,
Since the last month i've been having random reboots with my phone.
It happens when i'm listening to music, checking my email, checking 9gag or when i'm not using the phone at all (etc, etc)
I have a R800I With unlocked bootloader. Xperia nxt1.3 bij krisdee and doomkernel v14.
It worked fine before but now i get around 4/5 reboots a day. I even did a full reinstall of the rom and kernel ( I flashed .58 enhanced V2 and V3, went into recovery and installed the nxt 1.3. And installed doomkernel again) this helped for a week. after that it started rebooting randomly again.
I've tried creating a log but it doesnt save the last entries before it reboots.
Does anyone know what i can do to fix this or is it time to get a new phone?
thanks in advance
Did you overclock your Play? Try set it 800MHz and see how stable it is.
Or stress it with overclock (play should be stable even at 1.6GHz on lite usage). If it reboots on less speed, then maybe it's time for new Play.
Also, check your other apps. Have you installed something new recently?
Try also to keep slider open and see is it rebooting (could Be flex problem)
And lastly, maybe it's battery problem. When it reboots, is battery level same as before reboot? More then 10% difference means it could be battery fault
Also, use other rom. Nxt 1.3 should be stable, but just to rule out that possibilty

Just Install The new version of this rom !!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368
had nxt 1.3 with doomkernel installed over 6 months. never had a problem with this combination.
did you mod something or installed something that wants to start itself from time to time?

Thank you for the quick reply,
Nxt 1.3 is overclocked by default to 1.2ghz, But i will try and see what happens when i underclock it to 800mhz.
I have not installed anything in the last months.
I will also try the slider,
and lastly, the battery does seem to drop a huge amount after each reboot. if it still happens after underclock i think i need a new one.
once again, thanks a lot

I did not change anything in the setup, nor did I install something that wants to start itself from time to time, aside for stuff like facebook and outlook. it is pure nxt 1.3, not overclocked over the default 1.2ghz in nxt1.3

I have tried many roms those days to OC my desire, but when I flashed UV+OC, it starts reboot and hungup, even just opened the photos.
now I flash OC_V2, and everything goes well, 1130MH, linpack 7.9 around.
So report it in the thread for the ROM, don't make a new one.
I think it's much better to create a new thread to have return of users, because it's not rom related but kernel.

Why dont u flash richard V11 instead of V2?? very strange that u try to flash a very old version.. witch prob contains bugs + fixes solved in later versions.
I sugest u try V11 first.
Every cpu is different... So your cpu supports uv not so good (maybe some more light values)
For others its perfectly fine. If that uv was good and stable too all those arm7 ... Then they had this voltages as default....

I understand why u use UV but not why u use OC..... 1Ghz is pretty enough in the Desire.... Or do you feel any difference with overclock? I feel just unstability.......Desire is fast enough. When froyo is there i dont need Root... But i will have it...
man, I was tired.
Any difference? Not exactly, the stock Desire is very fast indeed but when i'm at home with charger it's not a big deal :<
no one else has my uv problem ??
I'm using UVOC Kernel for 5 Days now, no problems to report here.
i got the same issues, random reboots on typing sms or active browsing or watching flash content.
i've noticed that this issue occurs when i got a lot of vibrates on (keyboard freedback) or when a CPU intense task is running (like 3D gaming or flash),nevertheless i'm too lazy to try OC only kernel! Please assist! )
I'm currently using oc-uv v11 kernel, seems to be pretty stable. Not had any problems, been using it for about a week now.

Hi guys, I have a question.. I'm actually using the FXP109 CM7.2 on my arc S (LT18). I saw the default max CPU frequency set in the anzu (LT15) version of this rom it's 1024MHz, right? Well, since my LT18 have a manufacturer 1,4GHz processor, must I change the value to 1401MHz, or must I leave it by default? And how about the "Set on initialization" option? Can someone help me in this stuff?
Thanks
I'm no expert, but I have an LT18i with FXP109 CM7.2 as well.
I just set it to 1401MHz max frequency. It hasn't created any problems so far, so I'm guessing it's okay. I just have no idea what governor to use, so I've kept it at "INTERACTIVE".
Also I've set it to apply on boot. Or whatever the option was called.
Hey zareph, thank you! o\
No problem.
I've noticed that DSPmanager stops working sometimes, but I don't think setting the CPU frequency is the reason for that. It's more likely that FXP109 CM7.2 RC0 isn't totally stable, but honestly, DPSmanager crashing sometimes makes no difference for me. I barely use it.
EDIT:
I would still like to know whether "INTERACTIVE" is the most optimal governor to use with the LT18i's processor and FXP109, but it seems to work just fine.
Yeah, I've set 1401Mhz and found no problem. I didn't know what DSPManager was till now, to be honest huiahiuahuai. I'm on a dilemma here, I flashed the CM now using baseband 64, instead of my manufacturer most "recently updated" firmware's baseband (48)... Although I think the wifi signal is much better, I've noticed a little heat in the camera area (back of the phone). Which bb do you use, and have you noticed this heating too? It seems you use CM for a while, so let me ask you something more, please... When FXP launchs new versions (we are with FXP109 now, let's say when it will be available the FXP110 version), do you wipe again the phone, and flash some original firmware before to use the .zip update? huiHAui I always do that but I think it's not necessary, but not sure...
Thank you!

I flash a new firmware before a new OS only if the thread where I got the ROM from states that I need a new/different firmware, or if another firmware is included with the ROM.
Also I use baseband 64, and I have only noticed that the back area gets hot when charging or using the phone for something demanding. Doesn't seem too unusual, my X8 did the same.
Cheers
yes, that happens when I'm using any "heavy" app \o/ so it's normal!! thanks again

I do not experience this issue. When you flashed the rom, did you do a clean install? Have you formatting the device?
Yup.. I format everything.. I use the touch recovery and just use every option that it provides and wipe everything.. It even does it when there is nothing installed. I usually delete almost all the useless system apps that I don't use like the google music app and all of the ones civato provides... I even change the animation settings to .5 in the developer section.. should I turn them off all together?

The animations should not have anything to do with it. Does this only occur on that rom? Have you tried other roms and experienced that issue?
not many other roms out there.. I have used stock and his.. had the same issue on both.. Also happens on my brother's a500.. it usually happens when unlocking and going into any app.. it sits there for a few seconds and then opens whatever it is i opened

This is starting to sound like a hardware issue. Before that is concluded, you could:
- Make sure the governor is not set to "conservative"
- Try a clean install of CM9
If the problem still arises, its most likely a hardware issue.
I'm using the OC kernel and have it to 1500.. I also always leave it on performance.. I figure it would kill my battery life but I don't use it much.. and i tried cm9 also.. too many issues as of right now

It doesn't seem it can be anything else but a hardware issue in that case.
NB. Overclocking to a high frequency can cause instability and bring about that issue (but since you experienced it on the stock rom, its quite likely not to be that).
the overclocking helps to speed it up a tad bit.. for the most part it just lags.. i did a clean install just now
Thought I would jump in. Stock ics would slow down and lag on me, jittery transitions poor performance in games or movies, but it took an hour not a few minutes. However testing the T20 kernel before the release kernel had that exact issue, bogging and lagging within minutes.
His release kernel doesnt do it, and flex extreme as well as my cm9 builds don't, even with T20 kernel. Consider flashing that kernel to see what happens.
Side note...what issues did you have with cm9? And what release? My build 1 has been running for 3 days no reboots stable as can be undervolted and OC when needed. Something to maybe think to try to see if it persists. T20 kernel works fine with it too.

That reminds me...setting a screen off profile with the same min/Max speed can cause issues with that, give Max a notch or two higher. And don't have it change the governor leave it the same. So like interactive screen on Myst nit be conservative screen off, doesn't work that way.

I had the same issue on stock. I noticed there are 2 weather applications installed (version 1 and version 2) immediately after I disabled the old weather application (version 1) this stopped happening. I used the ICS GUI to do the disable.
This might not be the case in custom rom, but is true for stock. Post reply and let me know if this fixed it for you also.

I felt the need to add my two cents in this....this has been happening to me for the longest with the flex reaper rom ONLY. I've used stock and ZN's rom and those did not lag after unlock...only flex reaper. I'm currently using flex reaper and still experience it from time to time but doesn't destroy my day at all...

The overclock settings are not integrated like CM.
I'm using Arconium ICS with Trinity Kernel (they're all latest versions) on my Arc, so far so good, but whenever I play a demanding game such as Six Guns, Riptide GP, the phone hangs and then reboots. I have tried many times and the problem still persists. Does anybody ever see this problem before. I would love to have some input on that

Hi all,
Today I installed CWM and flashed franco's kernel for JB (the newest one). At first it seemed pretty fast so I was happy. I decided to install setcpu and set it to max 1,8 ghz with set on boot enabled (I know it was stupid, but I did not realize it at the time). After rebooting the phone froze and a purple layer appeared on top of my screen. Seconds later my phone rebooted. I set setcpu on 1,2 ghz max and let it stresstest for a couple of minutes. No errors were found. But now my phone lags sometimes, like if project butter just had disappeared and the normal android sluggishness has reappeared. Is this a kernelissue or did I damage my cpu with this stupid overclock? Btw, apart from the sluggishness in the animations I can run everything just fine.
I'm on Franco and have no problems. Why don't you try another kernel and let us know how it goes?

You need to learn about what you're doing before you do it!
I flashed the trinity 1420-537 JB stable kernel, and everything works as smooth as it has to be. The strange thing is that it was a bit sluggish until I changed my wallpaper from a live to a normal one. Now I switched back and everything is still smooth :? . Anyway, does this kernel overclock the cpu itself or are the speeds in the name just the available range?

if I have such issues I will never flash an oc kernel to look if everthing is working. Install stock rom kernel back and try. If everything is fine......you can try an oc one.
On Trinity; first number is MAX CPU clock range you can chose and second number is fix GPU clock.....or just reading FAQ, Changelog etc. will answer your questions really quick

from what I've heard, some gnexs are really picky with roms and kernels. I guess your phone is one of them. I personally had problems with Trinity Kernel, since when I reboot, it sometimes bootloops for 5minutes and such. I personally had no problems with Franco though. In fact, I use Franco as my daily driver

Franco's app let's you easily tweak the settings (overclock, change governors, etc.) which may help the sluggishness. I almost exclusively run Franco and his M5 is amazing!

Never had problems with franco. It's trinity's kernel that made problems for me.
I run Franco's kernel myself. Just have to be careful with flashing the nightlies, it can be hit or miss. They are experimental.
