How come Tapatalk 4 looks so ugly on my tablet but looks way better on my nexus 4 and is way more functional?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I just installed it as well. The last version looked better. It loads slower. And what happened to the quick reply option? At least with this one, I don't have to sign in every time I go on xda.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
They've changed many things on the tablet version like swype between pages and the quick reply option . I think they're focusing more on the phone version since it's alot popular ... I'm still not supporting the Dev till they give those features back .

The thing I hate the most is that there is no way to search a thread. Have to go to the web version to do that. Terrible.

The phone just so happens to be able to search a thread while the tablet can't.

I think it looks fine once the DPI is adjusted a bit.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I thought it was ugly and less functional too, I tried to mess with DPI settings using PA to see if it would switch to phone UI but that didn't work.
So I figured they are probably separate apps, I backed up my phone version with titanium backup and put those files in my tablets titanium backup folder, restored it and it worked.
Backup your tapatalk app on your phone, stick them in your tablets titanium backup folder, restore the app and you will have the phone version on your tablet!
It's the latest version, but play store will try and get you to update the app to the tablet version so turn off auto update for this app if you have that switched on.

Here is the link to the 3 files to put in your titanium backup folder on your tablet -
drive. google .com/folderview?id=0B9qAgU8kdxG7RVo0Q1daU0xLN0U&usp=sharing
(copy and take out spaces before and after google, also on browsers for some reason there is a space between sharing, take that out too. I can't post links yet...)
Download all 3, put them in titanium backup folder on your tablet, restore app only and you will have the phone version on your tablet!

Thanks! I thought I was just crazy.
Couldn't get your files to work BTW, they didn't show up at all within the Drive app, and when I downloaded them from the browser it made the filenames go all wonky. Ended up easier to just move my own backup.
Plus this way my accounts were setup already.
Nevertheless, thank you for figuring this out.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Weird, I've removed the link now and just told people to get their own copy, glad it worked for you
I'm still using Tapatalk 2 works great for me....I see no reason to get "4"....
I also agree the interface in the new one is horrible....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
The new interface is pretty good if you go Dark mode.
The tablet version of Tapatalk 4 is really crap though, just made a titaniumbackup of it on my Nexus 4 and installed it on the N7 and its back to phone version again, which works a lot better on the 7" screen. I assume the tablet version of Tapatalk 4 focuses on the 10+" size too much
What the heck are you guys talking about? Tapatalk 4 is optimized for tablets with no dpi changes on my N7 and there is a search feature

In portrait it does look like crap. Half the screen is used by the left side menu and can't be swiped away like most android-compliant apps allow

Yeah well try, it looks utterly awful. ^^
Yeah it's the portrait UI that is the issue here, and personally I always use my nexus 7 in portrait unless of course I'm watching a video or playing a game.
It seems that most apps with a tablet UI option will display that in landscape on the nexus 7 and use the phone UI in portrait (e.g. Reddit Flow/Falcon Pro).
That would be a pretty nice compromise but I don't see it happening seeing as they are completely separate apps for the tablet/phone :/
Another reason I put the phone app on my tablet is swiping between pages instead of having to use the button at the top, it's just easier.
Thing that people tend to forget or just don't know about is that Tapatalk 4 for tablet is just Tapatalk hd but packed along the Tapatalk 4 phone edition which is why it looks so ugly for some and just correct for the others . Me too I'm finding a way to get the phone version working. I'll try the tb solution mentioned earlier, hope it'll works!
Envoyé depuis mon Nexus 7 avec Tapatalk 4
I have a sgs3 and enjoy the phone UI of Tapatalk 4. However I recently changed to Android 4.3 and now it's asking me to update Tapatalk but whenever I so it gives me the tablet UI version. I suspect it's something to do with the rom, maybe the roms build.prop identifying itself as a tablet but I'm not sure. Anyone have any idea what the Google store looks at to decide what app to give your phone? My build.prop shows the correct phone version everywhere I've found.
Sorry for this semi on/off topic post.

Google has began the rollout of the new Play Store version 4.0.25. However, it's only available for 4.2 devices, so we will not get it automatically, but it is available for download via the link attached. I was able to install and run just fine on my LGOG 4.1 device, so we should be good for this.
Great design, loving it so far
good looks man, im diggin the new design.
Reminds me of the android marketplace.
That was a fresh change. But, I don't like it.
1. Not as much content.
2. Not so smooth on the scrolling.
3. Will they ever bring back the option to see your purchased apps.
It seems like they made it more plain. Thanks for the apk though. It works perfect and was way easy to install.

The smoothness seems about the same to me, but I can see why you would say its not as smooth, there are times where it tends to lag a bit.
I do like the simplicity of it now, but I don't really see any new features, just refreshed design is about it. I like it though, simple and clean.

The icons seem bigger and crisper in this version, this is just a subjective opinion but I think that this version looks more sleek and has a 'newer' feel than the old app store. I haven't experienced any noticeable increase in lag either, or if there is it's not by a fantastic margin. Installed flawlessly on Lifeless14.
i didnt like it because of the bland look but after installing the black version with purple text its awesome

ok guys, as you can see by my sig, i flip back and forth between a few devices. yesterday when this deal went live, i installed next launcher on both my s3 and my xoom and successfully activated the full version. i intentionally did not install the launcher on my htc amaze.
today, i went ahead and sent my tb backup from my s3 to my amaze to see if my backup would activate the full version on a device that did not have next launcher installed. it seems as tho the code is authenticated when the app is launched and so i got a failed activation. i turned off my data connection, cleared the apps data and restored my tb data and it showed the full version UNTIL i turned my data connection back on and the app was reloaded. so, if you have another device you did not install and activate the full version on, your backup is useless.
next, i uninstalled the launcher from my xoom that had a previously confirmed full version. i reinstalled next launcher and restored my tb data to see if i would retain the full version. guess what...it worked fine!
it seems as tho the activation is tied in with the device ID, so if you uninstall it and use your backup it will only work on the device it was originally activated on. keep this in mind when you upgrade or flash roms that change the device ID. TB has a feature to restore the previous device ID after flashing, so this may be helpful for those ppl that want to continue using next launcher full version even after theyve flashed a new rom or upgraded.

Just passing this along. enjoy! :good:
Download the trial version of Next Launcher 3D to get started, and choose Get Free when the splash screen comes up. To unlock it, open the menu and go into preferences. Since this interface is going to take some getting used to, I'll just let you know the menu button is in the far right dock position. In preferences, scroll all the way down and tap on About Full Version. Choose the Activate option, and put in "nextlauncher3d" as the account, and "appoftheday" as the code (both without the quotes). The app should be unlocked and you can play around without worrying about the trial period expiring.
This unlock code is only valid today, and it won't tie the upgrade to your Google account permanently. So think about backing up the app using Helium or Titanium Backup if you want to be safe. Next Launcher also overrides the background image in all launchers when it's installed. You can change it back, but still a small annoyance. All the Go widget packs are installed separately, but they appear to all be free.

Yeah it's pretty mind blowing the sorts of things you can do with xposed framework and the various mods people have made for it - it makes my head hurt to think of how functionality like what you show here would get "hard coded" into something... and it seems like there are new fun little mods popping up pretty often as well. It's definitely worth checking out for folks that haven't tried it!

Can you open music player as one app.. While its playing music. Open a you tube. and play a video . while the music player app is playing . Then open Say a ftp and and send or move files.. while Using word processor..
Just because you see the app open in the background . Does not mean they are all Running processes.. This goes for all the windowed and multi function apps. Seem to stop background processes and run the forground(focused apps.
This is what the above people are commenting on.. its why playing music from a website Stops when you open a new browser tab and type in it..
Give it more testing and show results if you do not mind..
Thanks for the info . but i think your mistaking open apps and app processes and BACKGROUND On hold apps in memory..

No im not mistaking background processes. This allows you to pin as many apps WHILE running to your home screens it exploits the com . flash bar service whatever to allow it to work.
I will say this. It did take me a while to get it working correctly LIKE you were saying but it does work. Secondly this isn't m y work. But it does work. I don't know how else I can prove it to you because I can't upload video. But I wish I could because it is awesome.
During v my tweaking and testing over the course of a day however I did finally get it to work properly. But stay away from 240 dpi module I couldn't seem to get that to work at all and had to start over.
I'm sure you can do ask if what you are saying but I don't have music on my phone but I did use you tube and bamboo at the same time while I had multiple other apps running. So sorry if i can't answer the music questions.
I wish I could have music but every week my sdcard gets the error message saying to reformat and I have no idea why this happens. It doesn't matter which sdcard I put in after about 10 re boots. Bam . Sdcard craps out. . If you have an answer for that on how to fix it I'd love you forever lol.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a working Google wallet considering Mr. Pachai has been using this tablet for months. I'm sure the update will come, hopefully others update their apps too. Come on guys, this forum has been open for only a few days and there already is fighting. The point of the matter is that if someone asks a question, do your be best to answer without being a douche. Too much on this site have I seen people judging people for what they want to do with their device (such as taking pictures or using wallet with a tablet, trying to get instagram to work, etc.), its their device and they can do whatever they like with it. No one made you the official judge of whats cool or not! So play nice and help out your fellow members in this Dev community without your personal opinions reflecting in your post

I thought that was odd too, they had Wallet working Day1 on the OG N7...
Google wallet? I do not understand!
Has any one tried pushing it from any of the gpe roms? Neither the s4 nor one have secure elements in them and they come out of the box with wallet at least the gpe models... just a thought I'm gonna try if no one else beats me to it

Lol, i never take my tablet anywhere unless on vacation, dont really see the need to pay with my tablet, may as well use my credit card
That Androidpolice story is a bit confusing. Does it say that it will never be compatible due to lack of security chip or it may be compatible in the future with updates?
Will never be compatible due to the lack of the secure element chip.
Same as the play editions of the htc one and S4.

There may be hope for a working version in the future.

Sorry to say but that's that standard message that it displays to devices that aren't currently supported. It doesn't mean they are working on support for it.
I plan on transferring all of my apps and games over to my Nexus 7 with Paranoid Android ROM installed via Titanium Backup minus the Samsung only stuff in the coming days... figured I'd post this to give other people ideas about what to install on their amazing new devices since it can be time-consuming to search and navigate the market sometimes if you are new to the Android scene. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Here are some screenshots of my Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone as of 08.12.13. Four Apex Launcher Pro homescreens running in CleanROM V5.0 with Perseus Kernel V36.3... The screenshots include my most used and favorite apps somewhat sorted by category... have around 220 apps installed after months of stability and battery testing, but have narrowed it down to the best to be displayed on the 196 available spots due to the custom 7x7 grid... check it out if you need some new Android apps!

You "must have" all those? My only "must have" are:
1. SS Launcher
2. Naked Browser
3. K9 mail
(and XDA app, being 1 of 99 others)
Must have means apps you MUST have..

In Android, there's no such thing as 'Must have'. There're always replacements.

If we took all of the "Must Have" or "Best Of" threads, merged them, then moved them to the Trash....
I've never seen so many icons in a status bar

Icon overload right there. How do you find anything?

I have ocd to having a clean status bar all time. That's madness
App Dialer + Advanced Home Button. Simply the best thing you can have on android device.

Even that app isn't as crappy as all of the "Must have apps" threads. I actually (used to) use a poop app, but now that I'm taking more regular fiber, I don't need to monitor it quite as much as I did a few years ago when I got, erm, backed up..
Is this thread derailed yet?
IMO the only must have app is play store y'know what Im sayin

No sadly I have no idea what you're saying because that's dumb, without any other apps the tablet is useless.
If you mean, that you can get the other apps by downloading them, then your answer is retarded and contradicts itself.

Actually his post is the only true and correct answer to 'what are the must have apps?' question. Everything else is opinion and personal preference.

Well, if you want apps like AdAway, it was removed from the play store. You'll have to get it from F-Droid.

Nice list there thats alot of apps and i thought what we get on stock with just the gapps was alot... lol. I always install AdAway first befor anything else and i replace Chrome with Dolphin and grab MX Player, ES File Explorer thats all i use i think the Play Store is my most used app lol im alwaus browsing but never installing
Nice collection!
Might as well scrap screencast, while your at it. It wont work on the N7. Not compatible with Tegra 2/3 devices.

That's a lot of icons in the status bar, alone. All I have have is my book library, Google's music app, Sims freeplay, Tapatalk 4, Chrome, Instagram, & Pinterest. What you have is just madness:silly:
