[Q] Custom Rom: process com.google.process.gapps has stopped. - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I'm trying to load a custom rom and after I install the ROM and gapps I get the following error: "process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." The home function, browser, or anything google related doesn't work and the playstore doesn't even open. This happens with both PAC rom and CarbonRom. I've tried factory resetting, wiping everything, and retrying but I get the same error every time. I'm assuming I'm forgetting something basic; any help on the matter would be much appreciated.

Sounds like your gapps are bad. Or you are using the wrong ones. Try the official 4.3
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip

Settings. Apps. Menu. Reset app preferences.

Still can't get it to work. Even tried pa-gapps to see if that did anything; it installed the apps this time but everything crashed (even keyboard didn't work). Before the keyboard worked but there was no google play store. Are there any other 4.3 gapps packages?
EDIT: Could this be the problem? I tried extracting the zip and it said something like "Data error in 'system/app/GmsCore.apk' File is broken" and a few other similar errors.

Fixed. Turns out the gapps zip file was corrupted. The 5th or 6th time I downloaded it it worked.

[Q] HTC desire Cyanogen Mod 7 "New Market" Problem

I recently flashed the new Cyanogen mod 7 nightly and The new google apps. As I started to experiment with this rom, I noticed that i cannot download any market apps at all. Whenever i press download, the "downloading" notification would pop up for like a second or two and it would then disappear. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
-Dan
Did you try to clear data and cache for the market? That might help. It does not seem like a CM7 issue as it is working perfectly here.
Yeah I have tried that actually. Still the same problem..
Wipe all the data including both caches, flash the build and then flash the apps. Things are working fine with the CM7 builds since I use it. Maybe a radio update if your not up to date ish?
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue on my HD2 Typhoon Cyanogen 7. I was able to download apps from the market for about an hour, right after first launch - now (3 hours later), nothing. I don't have the ability to click 'clear cache' for the Market and I can't seem to download from the online market, either. I don't know whether I should try to clean-install Typhoon or switch to another ROM - or if this problem will just 'go away'. If anyone has further advice, or wants any info from my device, please send me a message.
Update: ROM Manager won't do anything, but I'm not too worried about that. Booting while holding 'Power' gets me to the Bootloader, from there I can get to the Clockwork Recovery. I tried 2 fresh wipes of Typhoon CM7 before throwing in the towel. Another ROM installed and I can download anything I want from the Market.
Ditto here. I installed on a full wipe and market is not working. Are you using wifi or 3g?

I have the same problem, i tried to solve it doing everything (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but nothing.
I noticed that every time i re-flash the rom market works for a period but than gets stuck !
- download "zipsigner" from market
- select the new market apk (the one that didn't install and fc's)
- select "platform" as key/mode
- sign the file
the resulting apk can be installed as every apk
cc to c3k
wel then you are one of the lucky ones i have tried wipe cache wipe delvick cache reinstall nothing works

I have your same problem on DHD CyanogenMod 7 RC2 (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but the Market don't work!
I got the same problem and solved it by simply wiping my device (Desire) again without flashing CM7 (RC1) again.

could you be more specific on 'wiping'? how did you do it? having the same problem here.
EDIT: reflashed rom and wiped data and cache. market is now working.
EDIT AGAIN: market only worked to download GAPPS eg gmail, youtube, google maps etc etc. when tried to download other apps, a prompt comes up saying "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again."
Hi,
Had the same problem, with cyanogen Mod 7.
First with stock (cyanogen) Market, then even after updating with the new market 2.3.4. Always the same, trying to connect and failure when downloading, no FC at all.
I just solved the problem by flashing again the radio 5.14.05.17 ! (I had this one before flashing Cyanogen and all the other communications were ok, except the market downloads so I didn't think it could come from there ...)
Hope it helps you
I simply solved this problem thanks Titanium Backup that takes back the Market (app+data). Obviusly you had had a backup!
EDIT: doesn't work...after reboot market doesn't exist... I've to rebuild it from TB every time.. that sucks
RE-EDIT: finally works!! I installed it from a backup and then I started it after flashing again gapps(if you don't have a backup you can unzip gapps.zip on pc then move the apk vending to the phone: install it with a file explorer) Then I entered my gmail username and psw(<--- important step) and now it works great! I've made also a reboot to test it.
Solved Problem
After flashing gapps, i had the same problem....
Try a restart - It worked for me!
Yeah, I have the same problem with my freshly installed, latest stable CM (7.0.3-desire). Not all downloads are affected, it's about a third to half of them. If I get the apk file in some other way, installing it works fine. It's just the download from the market server that stops after a second or so (or perhaps never even starts properly).
I've tried to clear market cache, tried rebooting, tried versions 2.3.3 and 2.3.6 of Market app, to no avail.
When you guys say "flash this" or "flash that", does that mean "update"?

i've manage to fix it.
first i backed up my SD card, partition it with ROM Manager, downloaded S2E from the market, check Download Cache, reboot. done. anything and everything can be downloaded now.
I managed to fix with re-flashing CM 7.03 and wiping data. For a couple of days it worked properly. Now from time to time it happens again and the only solution is restarting the phone. Probably I found a similar problem when I tried to install Cut the rope apk from my sd card, CM just did a warm boot. After a several try I restarted my phone and installation worked like a charm. Any thoughts?
what do you mean by using the term "flashing" ?
I am a noob and I am having the same problem too.

[Q] Error installing apps since CM 7.1 update

Hi Guys,
I just installed the new 7.1 release and the only trouble I'm having is installing my apps.
I get the following error when trying to install ANY app
ERROR
"Google Maps" could not be
downloaded due to an error.
Any idea how to fix this?
I've also tried installing the latest gapps from recovery too but that didn't seem to do anything.
When installing the new 7.1 update I wiped all data/cleared dalvik cache.
Thanks!
Edit:
Yes I'm signed into my google account
I've tried downloading from both 3g/Wifi both getting the same error

have you tried to download it remotely from a pc? go to https://market.android.com/ and force it to the phone?
Thanks for your suggestion. I just tried that and my phone was grayed out.
I'm currently reinstalling CM 7.1, again by wiping data/cache. Hopefully it will be fixed this time.
EDIT: Also I was receiving a google talk authentication error frequently.
Ok just finished reinstalling CM 7.1. Apps are now being downloaded =D

can't install apps

I have been having an issue all day after installing a new rom where after an app downloads from the play store I get an "Unkown error code during application install -24" and the app fails to install. This in persistent through different roms, ones that worked before, and different gapps packages. And yes, I did try the suggested solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992241 but it still doesn't work. My phone is basically just a phone now. Is there any way to fix this at all? This happens with every app I try to install, 100% of the time. Even apps I have never before installed on my phone.
Anybody? I went as far as formatting my device and restoring it to stock and I still can't install any apps!
Hmmm...problem is still ongoing and you are 100% on a stock, Google factory image?

Yes stock google image. Every app follows the same pattern, the first time it says the package file is invalid and every consecutive time I get the unknown error -24. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works. My phone is just a phone now! haha

I'm baffled. And if you tried the method in the thread you mentioned and it still does not work, then I would suggest contacting Google for tech support. They should have an answer for you.

You need to clean data and cache of google play app, and then force close. After that, run the app and it must let you download apps.

No. I have done that MANY times. That does not work.
If that happens in every Rom and every gapps..... the problem is in your account, so contact with Google....

[HELP] CyanogenMod 11 kitkat 4.2.2 problem on s3

So I downloaded the cyanogenmod 11 kitkat 4.4.2 that released on 12/14/13, with also gaaps straight from ROM manager. Everything was good until I had to signup for Google. I tried signing up but it kept on force closing and stopped. The signup skiped and when to setup wizard but kept on saying "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped" in a endless loop. It also said the Google partner has stopped as well. The only thing I can do is Open up settings, phone, internet, and settings from the lock screen. Every time I try to unlock the phone it repeats the setup wizard message. What's the problem and how can I fix it. I'm guessing its a late gaaps version, if it is how can I put the latest gaaps version on my phone. Please help.

You're supposed to use the PAGapps! . Go into the Goomanager app (download if ya don't have it). Then Browse all, then Devs, then ParanoidAndroid, then Roms, then Gapps, then download the PAgapps 4.4

[Q] Problem with latest nightly

I am running CM11 nightlies and updated to the latest one last night but had problems updating apps, which were giving me "insufficient storage available" errors. ROM Manager said there was a later ClockworkMod so I tried to update that via ROM Manager.
Now the phone on reboot comes up with 2 messages: "Unfortunately trebuchet has stopped" and "process com.android.systemui has stopped". I was running Nova launcher before the problems.
I've tried restoring a previous backup but the message is still the same. I've also tried factory reset but no luck. Has anyone any solutions?
Thanks

read 4 post on @Mr Hofs
And when you flash new ROM it is better to wipe the phone except SD card
Still doesn't help me get it working again now! The zip is not on the phone anymore and I'm not sure I can get it to mount USB!
Go to recovery and mount USB if you windows gives you error for drivers..Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > and there will be yellow mark on Android device,Storage or something..And just right click update drivers and Search in Windows Update
All fixed now thanks

Also, some people (myself included) got rid of the "com.android.systemui has stopped" errors by going to All Apps and finding the "Google Services Framework" app and clearing the cache, then rebooting.
