first of all I'm not sure if this is the correct section to post this if not please any moderator move if to the proper section
the question may be so classic and hell repeated but I would like to ask it in some other different way which to get One X or One S or I should kick both away
to make it more specific I would make it clear what points I'm trying to base my decision about
1-chip set performance
really didn't think I would ask about this but from what I saw in some reviews that the Tegra 3 quad core chip set is not that more powerful ( even not better in some aspects ) than the S4 snapdragon dual core . the direct thinking may say definitely the quad core must be a beast compared to the S4 . but from what I saw at least from the benchmarks the quad core is not that a head from the s4 so does that really mean that the tegra 3 isn't that powerful or its android that is not so optimized for quad cores ? or its the benchmarks issues or what else ?
2-battery life
I think from most what I saw the One X is a head from the One S here but I put this point for the favor of the neither choice which is , is the 1800 mAh enough for daily use ? I'm not rating myself as a hardcore user may be between lightweight or medi-core user so the point here is , does really li- Po is better than Li- ion batteries ? and is the non removable battery could make me kick both away?
3-future proof
I think the phone I'll buy will stay with me for some time so is the quad core more future proof than the dual core even if it may be not that stronger than the S4 ( donno if this is true ) or the dual core is enough to stay in the wind for some years?
4- Camera
as far as I know both devices has the same camera but surprisingly , some sites and reviews says or claims that the One S has a better camera donno how so is this true ? and anyways is any of them's camera good enough or not ?
the final point that gives me another headache and can be a plus for the neither choice is that absence of the micro sd card slot . as I'm intending to keep it for some years would i regret not having this option or the 32 or 16 gigs would be enough for these years?
finally I know that the strongest rival , the GS3 , is there globally and of course I think about it and my last phone is ( or was as it got stolen :'( ) was the GS2 and I know that Samsung is a beast in making hardware but I really wanna try some sense device and the slight price difference but I don't wanna regret my try that choice .
so I ask you to try to evaluate each point and the points are some how arranged from more to less important for me and finally make a choice
Thanks for all the advises and contributions

Should you use the search button and google- Yes.

HTC One XL = HOX - Teg 3 + S4 > Screen than AMOLED (HOS) < 16gb < 32GB (HOX).
Another one to throw into the wind!

if you read carefully I said I watched and read MANY reviews for both and many head to head reviews the purpose of the thread is to see the opinions of the people and may be the owners of the device even consider it a loud thinking
though I know the opinions may be somehow biased cuz its an HTC section and thats why I asked if I should post in another section
we can add the display ( super amoled and ips2 )to the points to discuss too
First of all, you CANT compare that 2 devices yet because with a quad-core HTC makes a step in "no-mans-land" and we have to wait some months for updates so we get the maximum out of 1XT3.
Second, the benchmark apps doesnt show us the real deal about the devices (in some benchmark apps one is better and in others it is not) and the benchmarks doesnt have full support for quad-cores. So if you use benchmarks for making decisions then just buy the S4, but if you ask me in 2 months OneX will beat them all
About camera, it all about the "drivers" ... in the next update we will probably have better performance on all One devices.
Battery? You have a whole battery thread about battery life and one about li-po batterys...i dont care about any because i change my phone very often, but for those who want to stay with a phone for couple of years, the li-po is far better.
Space? I have all my pics in the phone, the newest music i listen to and some videos and have still around 21GB free ... so 16GB would be enought for me too......but also there is dropbox and i think such services are the future
A little bit of digging and searching yourself makes XDA and Google fun.
Spoon feeding is for babies.

Hey guys,
iam thinking of selling my galaxy nexus and buying one of the new quad core devices,
i was really excited about the new coming Huawei Ascend D quad since it will features the fastest CPU and a 16 core GPU. However, i have recently heard that it will be delayed because of some issues with the CPU until late Augest or September.
i already have a Sony Xperia S and after a small comparison between them in term of screen, camera, build quality, CPU/GPU i think that the other device was slightly better, i have already found a buyer but i still hesitate because the Gnex will get Android 4.1 and 5.x before any other device out there.
so, what do you think guys??
sorry for my poor English

The galaxy S3 has the same screen as the galaxy nexus. However, the last one has more pixel density because the screen is slightly smaller, in my opinion the sony xperia s has a better screen than both with 344 ppi reality display with mobie bravia engine,
The HOX has several problems already with wi-fi connection and some other software issues,
I dont prefer the user interface of the LG optimus 4X
Thats way i hesitate because i dont see a phone which is worth buying right now in my opinion
Besides all of them are cortex-A9
So, i think my point is clear now

Because i think that buying 2 phones of the same generation of CPU/GPU was a mistake and i am trying to correct it by selling one of them and keeping the other one and wait for new and better devices.
I cant decide weather i should sell one of them or keep both of them
The Sony Xperia S has a wonderful screen and the Gnex will get the updates faster

I didn't know that, i only know that the S3 has a pentile screen just like the Gnex
If you check Wikipedia you will find that Exynos 5 CPU which should be better than the current Exynos quad spotted @ the galaxy S3 will be available at Q2 of 2012

What can a quad core do that a dual core can't? (Besides scoring better in benchmarks which we all know are meaningless)

Hmm.. better battery life ?? Snapdragon S3 and TI OMAP 4460 are built on 45 nm
Exynos quad 32 nm and the snapdragon S4 28 nm
I know how my S3 works, you only get one CPU online + full adreno 220 support,
The other CPU will only work if you need extra power which is rare
So it is only about battrey life, you dont really need a dual core or a quad core CPU.
I like the idea of big. LITTLE CPU which is basically contains a powerfull cortex-A15 core and a cortex-A5 core which do easy to medium tasks efficiently, in case you need more power the other core wil be online to finish the job and then ofline again

Back to my point, name me a few applications that use more than 2 cores. As far as the battery life, when you have all four running, battery is gonna take a hit
In the end its your decision. You're posting this on the GN forums, you're obviously gonna get a biased response

This is correct for the current quad core cortex-A9 CPUs
However, things will be different with quad core cortex-A15 CPUs since they are so efficient
nVidia tegra 3 has 4 + 1 CPU, so they are telling us that . Our CPU is not so efficient since it was built on 40 nm and that's why we need one underclocked CPU to save battrey for the background process, people like woooow this device has 5 cores !!!!! Iam going to buy it now but they don't really know the truth about it
In other words.. we will have "real" quad core CPUs with a cortex-A15 in term of battery efficient and speed

Well, i respect your opinion and thanks for the one star rating.
However, i like to "learn" from my mistakes,
As i said before, i think that buying 2 phones of the same generation was a mistake
And that was not going to be happened if i asked people how knows about phones more than me before buying the second identical peice of plastic.
There is no harm in asking people for help and then make my own choice.
That's why we have this section, to "ask" other people
To get some informations from them
And then to make our choice

When apps become multithreaded it will have more practical use. And what? The four cores don't always fire. Battery on my S3 blows away battery on my nexus and it is only 100mah larger than the extended battery.

My question was,
should I sell my Gnex and keep the Sony,
And "wait" for new and better devices or should I keep both?
I don't know why ppl keep telling me its your choice
Ofcourse it is my choice, iam only asking for other ppl opinions
Which will help me to make my final descion.
Just because iam thinking to sell my Gnex doesn't make me a bad guy
Isn't it?
Please, no more Angry Birds, help me or don't waste my time
I wouldn't worry about it.

No ones the bad guy in here. Simply put, whether you know it or not, chances are you've already made up your mind and like others have said, you are just looking for justification for whatever you are about to do. That simple. Whatever responses you get here are completely biased and might not reflect on your way of thinking.

Hello, a guy off craigslist is asking me to trade me my htc one x quadcore for a galaxy note att unlocked for tmobile and he says he will add 60 dollars extra is this a good deal?
No cos the HTC One X is miles ahead of the Note Unless you want a bigger screen.
It all depends on what you want from the phone. Personally Note is a little too big for my liking. But if you want a bigger screen, better battery life, and don’t play 3D games then a note could be a better phone for you. But remember AT&T variant has a slightly less powerful Snapdragon chip instead of the Samsung Exynos chip found in the international variant. I think Galaxy Note + $100 would be a fair trade..

think about this, that note doesnt even have the exynos dual core, but has one of the weakest dual core processers out there, the qualcomm s3, which is only based on cortex a8, whilst other dual cores and quad cores are cortex a9, and the s4 goes so far as to a15. so in really, that not has the weakest performace out of most high end smatphones, but if u are intrigued by its size and att speeds, then go ahead. otherwise, HELL NO

I am planning to buy Note2 or SG3 but m lil bit confused btween these two awesome devices..the only pro i see in note 2 is larger screen,s-pen and 1GB additional RAM compared to SG3.Whereas SG3 has lot more functions and features than note 2.
So i need help from u guys that which phone is better among the two..
Also does 2GB of RAM really matters for a PHONE??I mean its a phone not a PC..what do u guys think?
It does. That's why I sold away my s3 before its value depreciates too much.
It's pretty frustrating when your app closes whenever you open a few more apps.

No competition. Note 2 or nothing!
Haha. But S3 is good as well.
An extra gig of RAM could go a long way.
Is S3 anyway better than note 2 ? S3 has better pixel density(306 ppi) compared to note 2(~267ppi).. Has anyone noticed any difference in display and clarity?

With the screen calibration of Perseus and other kernels' you don't need to stress about pixels per inch.

Perseus both on S3 and Note 2, there will be more clarity on the S3 of course because of more PPI.
But with screen calibration, it could possibly beat a retina Apple display.
in my opinion the S3 is not as clear.
this is because the S3 has a pentile screen(2 colors per pixel instead of the regular 3), so while it has a slightly higher ppi it has a lower sppi and a noticeable pattern in the screen that looks a bit like a chain link fence.
and I don't know what you've heard about the features on the S3, but as far as I know the note 2 has all features the S3 has and some exclusive features.
It would be safe to say that with additional ram on the note 2, it's future proofed against newer Rom updates. 2GB is becoming the trend and will be required as more and more features are being added to roms. Since you mentioned the S3 has more features, I am curious to know what extra features does the S3 have over the Note 2?

After reading above comments and user reviews,my reaction towards S3 is-How the fu**in hell i was wondering to buy S3 ..fu*k u S3.
The international LTE version of s3 has 2gb ram and the same processor as note 2
Samsung Galaxy S3 = Phone benchmark
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 = Phone BENCHMARK ALL CAPS
mannyvinny bro, i was also in same situation when i was planning to buy the phone about a month back. Both are lovely sets. In my case, in the end .. 2gb ram was THE ONLY reason i bought the note2. See s4, xperiaz, htc one .. all new devices are coming with 2gig ram. Trust me this was real factor i got this beast. Secondly larger screen is always plus. And pixel density, i dont hardly see any difference :silly:
So, my suggestion.. go for note 2. Spend your hard earned money on some feature proof device.
edit, do read the SDS issue related thread before purchasing!
Buy an S3 i9305 with 2gb. I'm thinking of moving there as my note's size is beginning to bug me. Yes 2gb is a bliss when I tap to open Facebook and it opens instantly, as opposed to my previous note1 which killed it everytime in need of free ram, as it is a really heavy app 70+MB. Because in reality 1gb ram translates in 200-300mb free, which can be filled really quickly and it's really frustrating and embarrasing waiting for some secs for apps to load, when I have a beast of a phone.
i used both GN2 and S4.....and i like note2 more than s4......big screen long hr battery for internet surfing and gaming....and how can my fingers replace the amazing spen

There's still an issue with the S3 LTE which is the fact that LTE consumes more power and yet the battery pack remained unchanged. Also the LTE version only has an additional ram but not the same CPU clock speed as the Note 2, by default at least.

I owned an S3 and a Note 2 and I can tell you in my opinion it does make a difference, Note 2 is noticeably better.
Hey everyone,
After three years using the legendary Xperia X10, it's finally given out on me and died. Is this a good upgrade over that? Where I live, it is possible to get the LG G2 and the HTC One M7 for around the same price, but I have my reservations about buying them because they're old models.
Should I get this phone, or go for something else?

N3 Neo is definitely a big upgrade over Xperia X10 in all respects!
Now coming to ur point regarding the other two phones u mentioned.. I think among the 3 u should choose between N3 Neo & G2, now it depends on ur preferences which phone u do choose, both phones have their own advantages-
G2 over Neo:
- 1080p screen
- More powerful GPU if ure a hardcore gamer
- Handy size
- IPS display
- Great dev support
Neo over G2:
- Bigger screen if u like the extra real estate
- Note features & S-Pen
- No overheating issues
- Samsung has much better service support
- Better battery life
- Super Amoled screen
- Expandable storage & removable battery
Ure from Trivandrum so I don't think both the phones have nearly the same cost.. in fact G2 is much costlier!
Flipkart prices - 27.5K for Note 3 Neo & G2 (32gb) for 36K
buy wisely!
I never like phone with sealed battery (Though I am having iPhone, which was a wish to have always).

- No overheating issues
- Samsung has much better service support
- Better battery life
- Super Amoled screen
- Expandable storage & removable battery
Ure from Trivandrum so I don't think both the phones have nearly the same cost.. in fact G2 is much costlier!
Flipkart prices - 27.5K for Note 3 Neo & G2 (32gb) for 36K
buy wisely!

Thanks man. Actually, the prices of both phones are nearly the same, if you know dealers. The main problem with the Note 3 Neo seems to be the lack of developer support. Coming from the X10 (which had a HUGE developer base), the support on this forum seems to be lacking.
Is there a 4.4 update for the Neo?

Yeah.. local dealers may give u better deals.
If ure a flashaholic then this phone is not for u (atleast for now).
I used to be a flashaholic having the S2 which still has excellent dev support, but since I've bought this phone, my desire to root & modify have vanished.. the phone has exceptional battery life, smooth performance & a lot of neat features which I love. I don't plan to use aosp & cm roms cos this phone is a note & the S-Pen defines it!
Nowadays we get most of the new cool features through Xposed so no point about stock based custom roms.. but yeah it's about personal preference!
The KitKat update is due and we have still not recd it (u know sammy is slow with updates).. we'll get it shortly I guess..

Kitkat update is only avaialbe for korean variant of Note 3 neo at the moment . Rest should be updated I think .
If dev support is what you're looking for , DO NOT buy an exynos phone and esp. this one as it's not quite popular like the rest

What do you mean by this Xposed? What is it exactly? And as for flashing and developer support, I'm not too keen on those. The only reason I turned to the forums was because my old X10 had started to lag. I suppose the only reason I'll need to root this phone would be to remove some of the trashy apps made by Samsung that nobody uses, like S Voice and the like.

Yes I know, the amount of bloat Samsung dumps into the phone is painful, but u can disable most of it & completely remove it after rooting so that's the good part.
okay, now about Xposed, search for "Xposed framework" on google & visit addictivetips site which explains everything about Xposed. It's one of the greatest android root apps.

Has anyone managed to root this phone yet? I thought you were having difficulty with that.

Really? There's only one thread about rooting here on these forums, and those guys had problems rooting it. That's why I said so.

U can use CF auto root for N750, my neo bro @sgatechwork used it & completely modded his phone after that.

Regarding the S Pen and it's uses, does this have all the functionality of the bigger Note 3, or have they been stripped down somewhat as well?

you get all the S-Pen features of the bigger brother in the neo, the features that have been stripped down are display (720p), RAM (2gb), processor (well, can't really call it less powerful), some other small things are display profiles, air gestures, camera but nothing as such which is a deal breaker. If u want the full Note 3 software suite experience at a much cheaper price, this phone is the one for u!

Yeah, I know the specs of the model . I wouldn't call the 720p display a letdown. Let's face it, in India, using a 1080p screen is quite hard, especially if you're unemployed and a student. And with this year's iteration of the Note, it'll be even more difficult to use it. Who the hell watches 2K videos anyway? Not to mention, unless the GPU in the next Note is the Adreno 420, it'll be underpowered like the G3. Seriously, manufacturers have gone completely retarded this year.

That's so true.. TBH I find the display really good (better than S4 in terms of colour reproduction), my previous daily driver was the GS2 which has a 217 ppi screen, so 267 ppi is a major jump!
I don't believe in the crazy spec jump we have with every iteration. I found FHD itself to be a stretch, but 2K is as of now useless.
I'm really happy with my phone, always had a dream to own a Note series device (they were always out of budget, I too am a student).. just a rare stutter is visible but the features completely outweighs that rare moment.

Even worse is the fact that the manufacturers apparently think that the S400 with cortex A7 cores is somehow better than the dual core Krait or the dual core A15 configuration. It's a big step back in terms of raw processing power. That's the only reason why I thought of this device. All the others have stupid S400 cores, including the HTC One mini 2 and the Galaxy S5 Mini (which are likely to priced above this one).
As for the display, my older phone was the X10, which had around 240ppi. I'm sure the 720p display will be a big boost

The hexa core configuration in this phone is excellent, no overheating (which is common with other exynos phones) and consistent performance. Seriously, I still don't know why the manufacturers don't use Cortex A15 dual cores, they are quite powerful. The minis nowadays are plain stupid, half the customers don't even know how they are being fooled, they just see the "Quad core" monicker and blindly buy much costlier phones. Just look at that phone G Pro lite, I mean seriously, 25K for that thing? ?
720p is fine, text too is quite sharp.

There's one thing that confuses me. Which model of this phone has the Exynos 5 chip? I'm getting really confused, because I read somewhere that one version of this phone has an S400 junk chip, while the other one has the Exynos 5 Hexa chip.

SM-N7502 Dual sim got the "junk" s400 chipset.
SM-N750 and 7505 got the Exynos 5260 hexacore chipset
