Since I got a whole bunch of PM's regarding this, I decided to make a thread generalizing everything.
Last week, I was denied the ability of unlocking my bootloader a mere hour before getting home I decided to find some other way to free my phone.
A few friends and I pooled together and purchased a JavaCard and the required files to be able to do things like S-OFF, factory unlock, etc.
Everything wont be here till next week (Tuesday/Wednesday) so I won't be able to provide proof and all that until then. However, I will be able to do 5-10 S-OFF's free of charge to any known devs who feel they would be able to use an S-OFF'd phone to provide the community with a public way to unlock our bootloaders/S-OFF etc. To anyone else, I'll be able to do about 250 phones or so via this one card. If anyone wants to talk more about this over PM feel free to contact me.
Edit: To clear up confusion. You CAN unlock your bootloader with S-OFF. You just have to change your CID via fastboot and unlock via HTCDev.
Really looking forward to this. Really tired of Verizon treating customers like ****
Check your PM btw.

You can flash custom radios and RUUs with S-OFF. Without it you can't. can also change your CID to use supercid

If you want to flash different radios or change your RUU or something like that then yeah. Look up what S-OFF can do for you .
Can someone explain what a Javacard is? How it works? Does the phone have to be mailed to the person doing it?

A JavaCard is a signed micro SD from HTC with some diag files on it. I'm not quite sure how it works as I don't have it yet . However I do know that I can achieve S-OFF with it so I can change my CID. Which means I can unlock my bootloader .
But yes your phone has to be mailed to whoever has the card.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVSGqXn4wX0 That's a video of a Java Card on a One. It has some files on it signed by HTC used by them in factories to mess with the phone.
Cool thanks. One last thing is how come it only has 250 uses? Not complaining just trying to understand.

Because it's "credit" based. The card has 500 credits.
S-Off costs 2 credits.
Unlocks cost 1.
Awesome good stuff.

You're probably right, It's probably coded into the digital signature used by the phone to validate the card, or at least that's my best guess at what happens.
Possible to reserve a space for when you're up and running and after you've handled any still-locked Devs (who are obviously priority)?

Bootloader. Everyone on this forum wants boot loader unlock. I think the Verizon HTC One is already carrier unlocked due to the agreements for the 700MHz Verizon purchased. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I have the same question as crazyg0od33. We can do just unlock right, we don't have to have s-off?

I was referring to carrier unlocks. I forgot about the FCC agreements VZW made. But yeah its only S-OFF. You'd have to get your phone S-OFF'd and then change the CID and unlock via HTCDev.

Do I need to CID unlock, Security unlock, or anything else unlock the phone?!?
Only if you want to try out radios from other devices.
Perhaps this is a dumb question, but isn't using radios from other devices [crazy / dangerous / insane / not for anyone but the elite]?

If this is the international version then it is a GSM device and fully unlocked by default. If it were one of the CDMA versions (Verizon/Sprint) then you would be S.O.L. as far as I am aware of.

Ring T mobile and request an unlock code, I don't think they can refuse by law, they will charge you around 15 quid.
1. Is your bootloader unlocked?
2. Are u running a custom rom?
If you have even 1 of these as fare as I'm aware u have to be on stock for the unlock to work. espeshaly if your getting the same code time and time again.

Are you sure it's free on Three? Every time I've asked them, they've quoted £15.32 in store and through phone calls to unlock. And the only info I can find on the website, claims pretty much the same: http://support.three.co.uk/srvs/cgi...sername=Mobile:mobileUser?s_search=helpsearch
Probably would be cheaper from somewhere else though.
It would be a lot cheaper elsewhere but I know they had to give my sister an unlock code for the i9000. But I'm sure I read somewhere as well in the UK there not aloud to sell simlocked phone but if they do there abliged to give you the unlock code.
Best thing to do is check citizens advice website if you don't want to pay for it to see if the info is true. I only heard it through the grapevine, but what's £3-5 to get an unlock code its a lot cheaper than i****e unlock cides

haha I agree. Just asking for predictions I guess. Like people predicted that the s5 would have locked tight bootloader. Things might be different on the htc side though.
The rumor is that HTC's flagship for next year is codenamed "Hima" rather than M9. As to whether or not it'll be unlockable, it's really hard to say this early on.
I bet it will be unlockable since the other carrier versions will probably be able to be unlocked through htc dev, so my thoughts are yes. I bet within weeks of being released it will be cracked maybe even sooner. Just like the previous versions were, be nice if htc would accidently let it out with nothing ever leading back to them, because it would make a lot of customers happy and customers are who buy their phones verizon may sell them but its the buyers that control how many phones htc sells. Happy buyers = htc making a lot of $$$$
Well dev edition will of course have an unlocked bootloader by default.. I think most other carriers will be unlockable at htcdev like the m7 and m8 have been.. as for verizon, pretty sure unless an exploit is found the best they can hope for is root and thats it.

When I tested the Desire 612, the bootloader was unlocked and the device S-OFF, I just couldn't flash a custom recovery because there weren't any devices out there. (That didn't keep me from trying, and ultimately bricking my test device just before we were supposed to send them back.)
You have to know the partition sizes and addresses before you can mess with this stuff.
I'm holding out for an unlocked bootloader on EVERY future phone, not just the M9. Without TWRP, root and custom roms you might as well give up on life and get an iphone.
Upleaks postet some info about the bootloader, but it doesn't reveal much at this point..

Sad
HTCdev has been allowing unlocked bootloaders for HTC's latest flagships. So hopefully they will keep going with that, I can't see why they wouldn't keep on with that trend.
They better allow the unlock via HTC-dev, this is currently one of the coolest things about HTC. If I can't unlock the bootloader, I'll be much happier sticking with my M8 or waiting for the next device with an easy bootloader unlock.
All HTC devices made after 2011 have unlockable bootloaders, which can be unlocked via HTCDev.com. However, you probably won't get a custom recovery at launch.

True, but those who buy ATT/Verizon phones must know the bootloader is locked and they usually pay less for subsidized & nobbled hardware. IMHO they deserve locked bootloaders for supporting ATT/VZW.
I'm using t-mobile HTC 10 around a week, but want switch to AT&T now as the AT&Ts 4g internet connection is faster in my area. Just want to ask- is anyone used these services?

The Verizon pixels run different software. Just wondering if anyone tried already. I know you can flash certain Samsung phones with stock unlocked rom and it carrier unlocks the phone
Verizon may help you unlock the phone to use on another carrier, if the phone was fully paid off and you have an account in good standing. Try giving them a call and speak with tech support.
However, phones that originated on the Verizon network will never have their bootloader unlocked. They have a different bootloader and signature, regardless of whether you change the carrier.

Plus we don't want to use vulnerabilities to unlock those get patched or open you up for attack. I'm with the others, your SIM method is not the way to go
What if you just want to tether a Verizon Pixel 3.Anyway to do it if you have AT&T unlimited data.I ask this because no root and unlock bootloader method I believe.

Not really the place to discuss this as this is a subforum for the pixel 6 pro. That said boastful people aside, no if it's the verizon version of the 3 then it cannot be bootloader unlocked even if it's on a different network now.

Would you please just stop. Yes, it can be done, you just don't have a clue on how to do it.

Verizon's bootloaders have been locked for years and years, and there's a great reason no reputable devs are continuing to work on unlocking them, it is not possible.
Unless you're prepared to share exactly how it to unlock a Verizon device's bootloader, and not just "talk" about it, please stop posting misinformation about it being possible.
This thread is about "carrier" unlocking a Verizon device, not unlocking the bootloader.
Please open a GENERAL thread about your opinion on the bootloader being unlockable.
