Do you get the same issues when you are not on WiFi?

The ping time is up and speed is down on network as well. Lte is not in my area so 4g is all I can test with

Up from?
Ping times on HSPA/+ are typically higher than LTE or WiFi.
Are they noticeably higher than before? It sounds like one thing you have no done is try rebooting your wireless router.
Another option, which I cannot personally confirm works, is tweaking your WiFi settings, specifically power saving mode in regards to the WiFi card in your phone. Make note that this could also lead to more battery drain with extensive WiFi usage (streaming and such).
In your dialer type *#0011#
This will bring you to ServiceMode. Hit Menu and select WiFi. Turn off WIFI Power Save Mode.
I doubt this will help, but you can try it.
Alternatively, you can boot in to Recovery and clear the cache on your phone.

I flash alot of roms on my galaxy s2 and about a week ago my data completely disappeared. My calls and texting worked but no internet whatsoever. I could use wifi but that's it. I found a quick fix that may work for you too.
I read that this is a known problem with the phone and T-Mobile will replace if under warranty but I'm not with T-Mobile so I'm assed out lol.
Ok here we go. Its very simple:
Menu, settings, wireless settings, toggle airplane mode repeatedly and rapidly till you see the E for edge. Stop to see if it comes up fully. If not reboot phone and try again.
Note: I rebooted twice before it came back on fully.
Hope this helps

lol a reboot has always fixed it.
A reboot does not always fix I rebooted 20 times with no results. After I toggled is when I got results

I am looking for a longer term fix. Loosing data causes my google voice to hang up on calls for some reason... I can get it back on by toggling 2g, data sync, airplane mode etc, but I am looking for a long term fix.
Unfortunately the only long term fix is to send back to Samsung to be fixed and even that is not guaranteed.

i just bought the galaxy note 2.. love the phone' however i cant stay connected to my wifi for some reason it connects them a minute later goes back into 4g mode please help...
I thought it was the phone so replaced it... same issue how ever it will connect to att hotspots.. go figure thanks
I'd say check your router first. Mine at home is a pain sometimes with my sons' ipod touches plus desktop plus netbook plus tablet plus my phone sometimes it drops. We end up turning it off for a few seconds which fixes it. Overload I guess?
There is also a known issue with the att wifi app. I forget what is called because i got rid of it a long time ago but it seems to be a culprit in some cases a well. You could find it if you search the forums I'm sure.

Had a similar issue... dropping of wifi radio... the workaround when using the ATT wifi manager was to go into the phone's wifi menu and disable power saving... *#0011# select menu... then wifi submenu.
Or.. just freeze or remove the ATT wifi app and use Smart WiFi Toggler from Google Market... works well!

Disable att smart wifi. That works for me.
Definitely a router issue. I use WPA2 PSK with DHCP and I haven't had any issues. I have had problems in the past using WEP with my phones. Once I changed to WPA it was fine. Maybe try that.

Thank you, this worked, I think removing the latest update for AT&T smartwifi did it for me, whatever I now have wifi again.
I'll take a look at Smart Wifi Toggler
Hi,
I am wondering if it is normal that wifi speeds slow down after a certain time. My wifi at home can reach up to 22 Mbps down and say in a couple hours for example it would drop to 10 Mbps. Immediately I would restart my phone and it would be back up to normal speeds of 20ish Mbps. I do multiple back to back tests on speedtest.net app and my wired connections and other wireless devices are consistent.
My wifi does not disconnect and it has no problems connecting to other souces. At work i have the same wifi issues.
I have a Canadian Rogers Note 2. I am rooted and flashed to cleamrom 4.0.5, fully wiped and reset before flash with twrp. I have tried turning off power saving mode during the slow wifi transmissions and still have this issue,
I am lost as to what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes this is for me as well I have been on clean rom and now stock and it continues to do the same not a huge deal but I just noticed it last night im on mediacom if thats any help

In the meantime I have installed My Data Manager to see if there is any unknown wifi data transmitting while this problem is happening. When I had the phone bone stock I really did not monitor this issue.
I use the international rom and I notice YouTube buffers longer than it should than it chops shortly after. I just tried recycling wifi and now it's snappy again.question now is how long it will last

Thats what I am trying to figure out. I am not sure what causes it in the first place.

I notice link speed drops to about 5mb when directly infront of AP
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
I have been playing with this issue for a few days now. I can sort of recreate this by leaving the wifi range and entering. This will create that speed drop I described in my first post. By turning on and off the wifi toggle resolves this.
While using My Data Manager it shows no mystery wifi or data transfer in the backgound. Everything checks out in that aspect.

I did not notice a drop when infront of the AP.
I'm running stock Att and started having slow wifi speed after the 4.1.2 update. Toggling the wifi fixes the issue but it slows down again eventually.

yeah this blows. I don't know where the fault is. Running cleanrom 4.0.5 with its kernal. I don't believe I have really modified anything other than flashing the rom and a few zips here or there.
Normally it isn't a big deal but it really seemed to cause issues when syncing for the first time with dropbox yesterday. I had to keep restarting wifi. I think part of that was dropbox but 4 gb took literally hours to get done
I don't know if it happens on cleanrom 4.2.5

I am on CleanROM 4.5 right now and it behaves the same way. I did read on another thread that there is a possible fix by replacing the 'wifi' folder with the one from Android 4.1.1.
Here is the whole thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956155&highlight=wifi+problem
I have performed the suggested fix and will monitor the issue when I go about my daily routines.
Any new info on whether your idea worked? I'm experiencing the same thing you guys are.

Anyone experience issues like apps that use data such as Facebook, friend caster, twitter, xda,.. Such as if your viewing something it won't refresh auto or manually. And you have to reset your data to be active again..? I'm noticing it is mainly while connected to lte
I'm on tweaked rom 2.3 with the latest saber kernel 32.2 UC

For example I have on auto refresh on this app and I tried manually refreshing just now and still won't refresh.. It's like certain apps I'm having hangs on.. But open a Brower or 2 and it loads whatever no issue..
P.s.. Double posted, didn't allow me to attach image to first post

I've experienced this also. It has something to do with our phone's way of handling the high power consumption of LTE. I first noticed it using my favorite app DeskSMS, which worked flawlessly prior to LTE, now it doesn't work half the time. However, It became such an irritation I manually went back to 4G, and everything works like it should.
If I ever needed the higher speeds, I can always switch to LTE.

I figured that but it's surprising that lte wouldn't operate the same as on a 4g connection but faster..

I leave my WiFi on at all times. I only have WiFi access at home, so when I'm at work I leave it on but am not connected to anything except the cell network. My typical day is about 10 hours at the office. When I get home, occasionally I will reconnect to my own WiFi but most days it will show my network as available and that my password is saved, but I have to toggle WiFi on and then back on before it will auto correct. Trying to manually connect from the network list doesn't connect either until toggled off and on.
Over the weekend, I can leave for several hours and reconnect without any issue. Seems to be something with the extended time away during the workday that causes the issue. Is anyone else experiencing similar or have suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Just toggling the WiFi off and on seems to resolve it, so it's not an overly huge issue. Just would be nice if I didn't need to toggle at all and it would auto connect as my previous phones had done.
