I leave my WiFi on at all times. I only have WiFi access at home, so when I'm at work I leave it on but am not connected to anything except the cell network. My typical day is about 10 hours at the office. When I get home, occasionally I will reconnect to my own WiFi but most days it will show my network as available and that my password is saved, but I have to toggle WiFi on and then back on before it will auto correct. Trying to manually connect from the network list doesn't connect either until toggled off and on.
Over the weekend, I can leave for several hours and reconnect without any issue. Seems to be something with the extended time away during the workday that causes the issue. Is anyone else experiencing similar or have suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Had that happen to me too. Turned airplane mode off and back on, reconnected right away.

Just toggling the WiFi off and on seems to resolve it, so it's not an overly huge issue. Just would be nice if I didn't need to toggle at all and it would auto connect as my previous phones had done.

I have been using wifi tether and the built in tethering option on CM. On both my 3g will randomly drop in and out. Also, when tethering two computers the connection is almost unusable.
Is there something that I am missing or something that I need to change?
Thanks and I apologize if this has been answered. I tried searching without luck.

The only time that has happened to me, is when my screen went to sleep, because I had my m obile data unchecked. I have to force the screen to stay on during tethering. I used to have the tethering drop off as well, not the 3g. that was solved by changing the channel to 1. Never had a failed connection since then. Other than that, I would be rendered clueless.
Yeah keeping the screen on seems to help but I still can't figure out why the 3g shuts on and off. It is really strange.

Mine randomly turns itself off. It's done so about 3-4 times in about as many days. For instance, I went to bed last night, with it on (I always leave it on, in fact) and this morning it was in the off position. Not just "not connected" but completely switched off. Anyone elses' phone do this?
Disable the preinstalled "AT&T Smart Wi-fi" app. I don't know if it's supposed to, but it turns off your wifi while the phone screen is off and the phone is idle. I disabled the app in Settings > Applications > All > Uninstall Updated > Disable and have not had the problem since.
I seem to be having this issue with my 5GHz network but not my 2.4GHz network. AT&T Smart Wifi is already gone.
Anyone having problems with WiFi turning itself on automatically? I don't think I have any apps that I didn't have before that would turn it on by themselves.
Go to settings, more, connections optimizer. Turn it off.

Thanks!
Didn't realize that Sprint added this to decrease their traffic by randomly turning it on and draining my battery!
If it's the same as other phones, they claim it conserves power. It doesn't have to search for a signal.

From my three days of experience with it, it seems like it searches for a WiFi signal not often enough so you'll leave your house and then WiFi will be on for a while before it realizes there is no WiFi and then be searching for WiFi that whole time you're gone, waking up to do so. Not sure if it also searches for an LTE signal or not too.
I'm going to be in a GSM country for a while, and I'm bringing my SIII cuz it's a capable little tablet computer. I wish to disable the cellular radio completely because there aren't going to be any CDMA signals around and it'll kill the battery looking at full power (I'd think).
Is there a way to disable cellular while leaving the wifi antenna up? I imagined it'd be simple, but I'm finding it hard to even search for. Usually people just want to disable the mobile data and leave voice up for sms or whatever.
What about Airplane Mode?

I would assume he still wants to connect to Wifi.
I haven't heard of any Mods or settings that completely turn off the radio (data and phone/text). I'll keep my eyes open, though.
Turn on Airplane Mode which shuts off everything, then turn on the Wifi by itself. Used it in Europe that way without a problem.

Ah, I didn't know this worked. Back on my old Evo, once airplane mode was on, Wifi couldn't be turned on. It looks like they've improved the airplane mode functionality in the last 2-3 years.

I still have my Evo and can connect to Wifi in airplane mode.
On all 4.3 ROMs including stock wifi autoscanning is broken. It works for a while but after deep sleep it stops. This causes it to not connect to known networks and leaves you on mobile data unless you manually open the WiFi menu.

Really mine doesn't do that?
I'm on SlimBean Build 2 with Fancy kernel. No problems here with Wi-Fi that I notice. Maybe this isn't much, but I make full-use of Profiles such that my 'Home' profile turns off Mobile Data and turns on Wi-Fi.
This has happened on mine more than a few times. I'm not totally sure what conditions cause it to occur, but it definitely exists.
Two of us here at my office have this issue. Friday, I went back to stock 4.2.2 then the wifi was good again. Then Saturday, I let the phone update to 4.3. Wifi problem again. Today I went back to 4.2.2 again and the wifi is working again. I'm not sure why Google hasn't fixed this. Please do!
Maybe they did fix it already. Android 4.4 is already out.
