Best Modem to Save Battery on S3? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

my s3's battery gets drained a lot from the modem.. which modem do u guys recommend saves battery the most?

Try them for yourself. Not everyone lives in the same spot or uses their phone the same way, unfortunately only way to find this out in reality is for you to use different ones day to day...

Battery not lasting and i got it on friday

Ok so how long do u have to see some good battery im on my 3rd charge and its been lasting me 6 to 7 hours but i have only text and some surf and a bit of gaming i am on the latest stock rom rooted and i have hotspot hack and sprint boot that i installed

That's pretty terrible even if it's not conditioned yet. Especially because it sounds like you have only light use. You may want to take it back and replace the battery. Either that or you're in an area with terrible signal.

No i have full bars

Did you let the battery completely drain and then charge to 100% after you bought your phone?

Take it back and get a new one. I just bought one on friday and even with heavy use my battery has lasted 20+ hours.
Sounds like a bad battery then. Happened to me on another phone. I just asked for a new battery and they gave it to me no problem.
I don't even have full bars and I get a minimum of 12 hours on pretty semi heavy use. I don't use wifi and I get at least 3-3.5 hours of screen on time.

Basically you shouldn't have to worry about battery life if your only using the phone "normally".....

A sales only store is unlikely to have any batteries on hand, we hoard a ton of new and used ones at my store, but we're a repair store...we're always getting folks coming from sales only stores for batteries.

Excellent news, glad it worked out. Where did you end up getting your battery? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back?
Apps like Facebook would drain my battery really fast. I use friendcaster now. Also make sure your not using the wireless location in the gps setting.

Battery is dying extremely fast

On my gfs epic she's running aokp build 4 She has had the battery since the phone first came out.. She routinely leaves it on the charger every night.. everything is turned off except for wifi in the settings and gtalk has been signed out off and I have tried everything to conserve battery from rootdim which didn't do anything to build.prop tweaks in omairs thread.. The phone doesn't last at most five hours screen on with an hour and a half screen on.. Is this normal or is it time to buy a new battery

Maybe try odin to fc09 factory and see if it makes any difference. Best advice I can give you, is to leave a womans phone alone. Just trust me.

Change the processor to conservation, and tell her to turn off mobile data when not in use.

It is probably time to get yourself the SGS2's 1800mah battery. It fits in our original case, snug, but fits.
Before getting the battery, odin back to FC09, boot up and synch PRL and profile. Then odin CWM and flash the current AOKP build for Jelly Bean. Only restore SMS and/or call log from backups if you must. Doing those steps will ensure you have a clean install and anything affecting your battery will either be a rogue application or the battery itself.
Gotta be careful with the Gs2 battery. The Tmobile version doesn't fit our phone. I would play it safe and get the epic touch battery.

Phone Over Heating Issues

I have an issue with my phone overheating. Meaning my battery gets ridiculously hot. Its hot the the touch especially during use of my data or heavy use in general. I know it's not a ROM issue nor is it a kernel issue. Why? Because I have gone back to stock and it actually gets hotter.
Would simply replacing the battery with another OEM battery fix this issue? Or can it simply be the hardware? Or could it both? Would it be worth a shot to replace just the battery? I wish I took the time to take it into T-Mobile when I first bought the phone, but I assumed it was because it was stock. (Dumb decision, I know). Any insight would be appreciated.

get a battery and phone temp app and report how hot it actually gets. Maybe get a case if its not abnormal type of hot. I live in Phoenix AZ and it gets up to 118° here and I'm outside using my phone mostly if in shade and I've seen my phone get to 124° granted it wasn't good and I wish that didn't happen, no harm was done.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Judging from past experience, are you shore it is the battery? It is actually extremely common for the phones proccessor to react differently to different roms and heap up which will cause the entire back of your phone to be hot to the touch. The proccessor is located right below the battery compartment. If this is the case I would first try flashing a different kernal and also check to see if your proccessor is overclocked and perhaps lowering the maximum mhz. Usually around 1096 is a pretty good low speed that will still keep your phone fast in my oppinion. See if that helps you. If it is the battery, the only real cause might be a defective battery in which I would stop using immediately since it may cause damage to your phone.

I've tried different kernels and the best kernel that works for me is Ktoonez. I actually have it under 1.5ghz. Like I said, even being stock the battery seems to get really hot. I'm going to purchase a battery and see if that changes anything.
But since I did change my modem as well it seems to keep the phone a little more cool. Just using the phone can get really hot to the touch even with my otter box on it.

Personallyc I think cases only increase the temp, not decrease. Only if it were aluminum or made of some other heat sink type metal will it actually help with dissipating heat.
If the modem helped a little, try flashing the LJC firmware from the dev section. There is a thread there with this firmware in recovery flashable form. Wont affect your current rom or setup.
It could be your battery, but I'm just not so sure it really is. These phones can get hot, that's pretty normal.
Also check in settings on what uses the battery the most. Perhaps a service is getting hung and sticking at full throttle!

So I flash the: OTA_T999_UVDJLA_UVDJLC in the recovery right over the current ROM and I shouldn't have any problems? (Obviously make a back up before flash?)

No, not the OTA. This is the thread I was referring to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282603
It is primarily for the MD5 firmware, but the LJC firmware is also available there as well. This is the direct link to the download for LJC: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/173554095/T999 Devel/T999UVDLJC_firmware.zip
Read that thread though so you have a better understanding of what you are flashing. This does include the LJC modem, just so you know.
An as always, yes make a backup, just in case!
I already have the LJC modem flashed. It shouldn't be a problem, I'm assuming? Thanks for your help in giving me the direct links.

Note 2 horrbile battery drain

Yo!
I hope im posting this in the right thread. Im experiencing bad battery drainage. I will charge my phone at least 3 times a day. Once fully charged it will last usually 2 hours if im on it off and on. Until it hits 30% then it will turn my radio off, and i will have no connection. So i restart my phone and it will come back on with 2%! UGH! Ive tried conditioning my battery by draining completely and charging completely. Maybe its a lemon, i dunno. So has anyone out there experienced this same issue?
Thank you for any info i can get!

What ROM are you using? Stock or custom kernel? If custom kernel which one?
Mostly sounds like a bad battery to me. This has been showing up more often over the past couple of months. This device has gotten up in age and the batteries are giving out. Even users who have only had the device for a few months have seen this happening. While the purchase of the device maybe recent there is a good chance it has been sitting around at the store or a warehouse for a while.

If you want to save a few steps I suggest skipping rooting. Just Odin a custom recovery then flash a custom ROM. All custom ROMs are rooted already so the only reason you would need to root is if you plan on sticking with the stock ROM.

Wake Lock Detector.. but it needs root access.
Never tried WLD, but hear of it being used more and more. I've always used Better Battery Stats. I imagine either one will work just fine.
Batteries do go bad though. So if it's been in use for over a year, might be time to look into a replacement.
