Bootloader power down -> powers up again? - HTC One X

I am unable to power down my HTC One X. I go to my bootloader, and then select POWER DOWN.
It powers down immediately, but powers up again. I've tried unplugging it from charging, then plugging in again, and a lot of different ways. It just won't stay off.
Anyone know what's wrong? I need to charge it, but it won't charge properly when it's turned on.

Have you relocked it - and now have the problem? Or tried a restore and now have the problem?
You need to be clear about what you have done...

Custom recovery ? Yes.....thats the issue !

It is re-locked yes. A simple erase of cache and then left for a few hours to run out ended up with this.
Next issue is to get it to stock.

Why didn't you say that in the first place? You need to unlock again, nandroid restore the stock ROM and then flash stock kernel followed by clear cache. Custom recovery is irrelevant.

No it's not, a custom recovery can wake the device upon connection !

Got it re-unlocked now. Took a few hours with the batch battery method.
Now all I need is to get stock ROM back

Well if you don't (and how many times have you read that you MUST ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP?) then use the stock ROM that Mike1986 kindly publishes alongside the ARHD ROM.
You will need to flash the Boot.img he provides AFTER flashing the ROM.

I have a backup. From when I rooted, and it's the Renovate ROM.
I'm gonna look at the stock ROM stuff now. I'm currently at:
Phone relocked
Booted into 4.0.3
Root is OFF

[Q] First attempt at custom ROM --> [ROM][JB] All Star Rom v6

Happy New Year
First attempt at custom ROM, heard great things about All Star Rom - going straight for the v6! Unless told not to ... LOL
Have a rooted device, with latest TWRP recovery 2.3.3.1-hercules .tar flashed.
Have v6 and All-Star 4.2 custom gapps downloaded.
Copy of instructions for reference sake:
TWRP recovery recommended!
- wipe data
- wipe system
-(Use Darkside Super wipe if still on cwm 5.0.2.7 or below)
- flash rom
- flash All-Star 4.2 gapps
- wipe cache/ dalvik cache.
- reboot and wait 10 mins
- reboot and wait 1 minute
- Grant Superuser permissions for Switchme
- set up device.
- Initiate the CPU sleeper app
- (Highly Recommended) ENJOY!
Booting into TWRP recovery,
I don't specifically have a "wipe data" option, I want to be very thorough here.
Under "Wipe" I have Cache, Dalvik Cache, Factory Reset, ... and System.
Quick answer? Thanks.
Hey, happy new years justaguy705. Nice to see you asking questions again.
To answer your question, the option where you see "Factory Reset" is the exact same as "Wipe data". Cheers!

Unless you have a recovery system already. You will need a computer to install a recovery system such as TWRP 2.3.3.0 to your phone through Odin (PC application).

Doesn't being rooted means he rooted himself via a recovery, unless he flashed stock rom again. In which it would wipe his recovery.

He may have a custom recovery file, but from what I know to install the latest and recommended TWRP recovery you would need to have a computer to flash it. But you are free to explain to him with your steps to flashing without a computer.

Make sure your phone is off and not connected to a USB cable. Press and hold the "volume up/volume down" keys and then press the power button until you feel a vibrate and the screen turns on. After that you should be in recovery mode and it will say the version you are using. If you have a CWM recovery version greater than 6.0 you should be able to flash a ROM through your phone.

To flash TWRP on to your phone and you still do not have access to a computer, you can try using the Mobile Odin app on the Play store as android88 had mentioned above (however, the app is around $5.00 if you're willing to purchase it). Otherwise, flashing the recovery system through Odin using a computer is the way to do it.

Since no flashable RUU is available, anyone able to offer a Nandroid of pure Stock?

Given that no encrypted RUU is available, and the decrypted RUU provided by @Zarboz does not, by most accounts, flash properly, is someone with a new phone and having obtained S-OFF, kind enough to provide a Nandroid backup that we can use as our "stock" image? Would be much appreciated.
The new one flashes fine, previous was a bad upload and the size was like a third of real.

No dice. Rebooting to recovery even with that just leaves me staring at the boot image.
EDIT: I remember reading that those who took the KitKat OTA got a different boot image that makes going back to Jellybean difficult, if not impossible. Could that have anything to do with this?

How can we get onto official CM then?
I know it has something to do with the kernel. We can't downgrade the kernel to the one CM is using? Or we have to wait until CM move up to kernel 3.4?

The latest Nightly is from February, which is 4.4.2.
Honestly keep checking that website, and check XDA.
Since the bootloader has been unlocked there should be a lot of movement / action in the dev section.
I would honestly not flash anything older, I mean feel free to mess around w/ kernel that are newer than 4.4.2 on CM.
I can't promise anything if you're on stock. I hope that helped at least a bit.

[Q] What steps am I missing with my install to kitkat?

To start off the kindle had an older version of twrp and had a version of ice cream sandwich. Those work correctly and it continues to work correctly after a nandroid restore.
Fast forward to now, I installed the latest twrp and flashed the latest FFF v1.5 bootloader.
I flashed this CM11 nightly cm-11-20140702-NIGHTLY-otter.zip
and flashed latest gapps gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip
After I finish flashing everything I can setup the kindle but once I reboot it goes into a bootloop at the CM logo that results in a colorful screen. If I power off and power on it just bootlopps at the CM logo. Not sure what else I can do. Any help is appreciated.
Forgot to add. I have tried flashing Pacman rom: pac_otter-nightly-20140701.zip and I get same results as above.

The bootloader gets flashed 1 time and 1 time only. Unless perhaps there is an upgrade you never do this in correlation with flashing a new ROM period.

Swipe factory reset then go advanced select dalvik, cache, system then swipe again. Flash rom.zip, flash gapps.zip in zip form mind you then select reboot system.

I root the phone and don't change kernel. I'm running on stock.
edit. Work now. I reboot the PC and kill the programs that run in start, turn off firewall and antivirus and run soju.exe as administrator.

It works great. It took some time because I had to find Win7 32 bit with direct internet connection (I'm on Win8 64 bit) but at the end it is S-OFF.
Thank you!
Now I have another problem. After S-OFF with this method I can not start Bluetooth. Tried with wiping data (factory reset) but no luck. It would be nice to have radio to download. Maybe that would help my situation.
For now I will try with different ROM.

you don't have to reflash the radio, just reflash a new rom (of course clean install)

i'm using it and everything is running well
Thanks. Just flashed same ROM over (dirty flash) and now it is OK.
Is that link for full stock?
Warning to everyone. Don't flash CM10 (unless you want to stay with it) because you want be able to get back to stock. I tried that and ended up with mixed version that FC. Luckily I had backup before all this and that helped.
Yes but deodexed, and you're right, we can't go back to stock factory untill htc release the rom firmware separately like samsung etc

A backup is always recommended anyway so you can flash whatever you want

Do I need S-OFF for custom ROM? After unlocking the bootloader I flashed stock rooted rom with custom twrp and now when phone starts it's in airplane mode and asks me to input decryption key. Wtf is that? I've never seen that on my other phones happen. Does S-OFF help here?
Thanks in advance.

Actually you don't really need s-off for cus-rom, except you want to tweak the device itself. For the problem recovery, I suggest to using cwm from developer '4m8' thread

I tried this on Windows XP- but i cannot run ADB and Fastboot
I tried it on Windows 8.1 too (installed drivers, there was "My HTC")- but when it turn phone in bootloader it says device cannot be recognized
I tried it on Windows 7 - It said that my device isnt't rooted (It is 100%) or I flashed unsupportable rom. I have flashed this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584435, can this cause this problem ? Should I flash back that odexed one ?
