[sds] could this be sds

I don't know if this is sds or something else plz do help. What happened is I was using phone phone to watch bell tv when my network kicked out and said no sim card. My phone was really low on batt but I restarted my phone and pulled it in but when it would restart there was no batt charge going on and the phone just dimmed out. It took about three retries but I got it to start charging. I don't know if this helps but at the time of all this the batt temp was over 41c. Could this be sds

first check with another charger if it works. Is there a red flash light? Are you able to enter recovery or download mode?
41degrees is not that much so i think that's not the problem
btw if a new charger dsn't work and you were in stock rom/kernel and flash counter at 0 send to samsung for repair

I'm on a stock rom rooted with xposed framework and some other minor mods to build . prop. If you need to know all the mods I can let you know. But I used widget to monitor the charge and all my chargers where charging at around 1800 (I think it's mv). It was more so a really messed up glitch I have never seen before

it is really strange :S well you can check is there is a red light in the proximity sensor, check if the usb is working (sometimes it moves a bit and doesn't work until you find the position (it can take hundreds of tries to make it work) ) also check if the battery is inflate (really fat) and if the phone allows you to enter recovery or download mode somehow. also if u remember the version if it was 4.1.2 or 4.1.1.
thanks in advance

I'm on a note 2 of course lol SGH-I317M 4.1.2 the battery isn't fat or anything and I can still get into Download mode. I don't have a custom recovery because I haven't been able to get it working (do need help with that sometime) and the usb is working fine I do believe I clean off the the pins and never have ever had a problem like this before

well you can also enter recovery although you dont have a custom one (stock). however, it seems like SDS or a dead usb or battery but i think that is sds. try flashing your region stock rom through odin (you'll lose ur data) or make a full wipe with recovery (it deletes data too) if it doesn't work i hope that you counter was at 0...

How do you get into recovery when it's stock and what's the difference between recovery and download mode
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
recovery is just some commands such as wipe data, cache install something with sd and so on and it apperars by oppening the phone pressing power+home+ vol. up
download mode is a special mode used to flash mostly with odin (although it is used with kies too) and is the same procediment but with volume down instead of up key pressed when boot

[Q] xperia s dead

I've got a dead xperia s, I only have the red led as mentionned in a few other threads.
Nothing is happening when i press the power + volume up or down keys.
I've been trying the sus tool as mentioned with rubber band trick for a few hours but without result.
the red light stays on, after a while it disappears (no led at all) and returns.
Is there anything else I can try.
I've also read I must discharge the battery, but how can I discharge it without turning the phone on ?
One time I did get the green led, but it failed beceause no driver was found.
How did this happen? What have you done before hand?

maybe now your xperia s is discharged
doesn't it charge when connected with pc ?
not in fastboot mode, and if you connect your xperia s normally and nothing appears, you need to charge your battery outside of xperia s
Remove battery, put charger, put battery back. And yes, you will void your warranty.
what good would do the charger after removing the battery ?
It will give the battery a voltage shock.
How can it give a voltage chock when I first need to remove the battery ?
I have also read the disconnecting the flex cable from the mainboard could be a solution, does it need to be the flex cable or is removing the battery enough ?
Remove it. Put it back in. Start charging it and then the voltage tweak is going to happen. But removing the battery it's not easy, I do not recommend to do it,maybe at an authorized center.

stamina mode for xperia s/sl

can somebody port stamina mode for xperia s/sl. please! i really need it. thanks in advance
greenify instead stamina
I personally doesn't think that it matters or does something really good...
you may instead use Greenify App
have heard a many people using it and getting very good results..
Here is the play store link.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en :good:
i think greenify is not enough to save energy thats why i need stamina mode for my device >.<
Extended Standby Mode = Stamina. So you already have it. LOL
Ok then you have to wait in that case...
Or instead use greenify or any other app till then
Sent from my Xperia S using xda premium
or some developers can include it in to thier rom so that we, the users will no longer have to flash it separately. i really hope somebody can do it
@slink722
No, the Greenify is really an awesome app. You can put all downloaded apps on hibernation thats why those apps can't run @ background and which definitely improves battery backup.
I am using it since 4 months, i haven't got any troubles yet, i tried flashing the stamina mode also, but i couldn't get remarkable difference. You can get stamina mode @ themes and apps section. But i suggest you to use Greenify!
All d best

@pracas ok mate i will try it while the stamina mode for xs/xsl is still WIP (working in progress)
The thing is that Greenify does a different job than Stamina, which is also an improved, but not the same as Extended Battery Mode.
Greenify hibernate apps so they dont use your RAM neither your battery. Stamina improves battery usage, and turns off data for all apps, except the ones you set. Extended Battery mode just completely turns off data or WiFi connection and turns it on from time to time to receive notifications..
yes your right @Felimenta97 that's why i really want stamina mode for my device coz it really does a greater job than Extended Battery Mode or greenify

Sometimes I really wonder the difference between the real stamina and the extended standby mode
does real stamina just give u an option to pick which app to stamina it?
actually they work in the same way, or something more??

[APP] Force Signal Refresh for Nexus 4 Running 4.3

After the recent update to Android 4.3, my Nexus 4 has been experiencing many irritating side effects. One of such bugs was loosing the phone signal every now and then. Sometimes the phone will come back online after few seconds. But more often than not, it wont come online and the phone remains without service untill I try to use the phone. In such a case, the only way to force signal search is by enabling Airplane Mode and then disabling it. Eventhough I have put the Airplane Mode Toggle in my PowerToggles home screen widget, enabling the Airplane Mode and then disabling it is a cumbersome thing to do. In order to simplify the process, I wrote a simple Tasker action and put that as a widget in homescreen. The action requires root access and Secure Settings Plugin (also the Helper) installed. Using the Tasker App Factory, I have converted the action to a standalone app and you can use it to refresh the signal manually on your Nexus 4 running Android 4.3. I have tested it on my phone and it worked without any issues. You can download the APK file from the link below.
PreRequisites for ths App to Work:
1. Root Access
2. Secure Settings Plugins and Secure Settings Helper must be installed

Installed.
I'll try tomorrow, and give a feedback...
Didn't work for me on
N4 4.3 JWR66Y
But plugging airplane mode on and off doesn't either.
The only way I can solve this it's turning off an on the phone..
Ohhhhh.. Mine is also the same build. But toggling Airplane made helps to refresh signal. No need to reboot the phone.. I saw another post to downgrade the system radio app to the one included in jb4.2 as the issue is only present in radio app included in 4.3. So if this is not working you may explore that option.

that seems to be the permenant solution until google updates the radio app to remove the bug. I had created an action to automatically toggle airplane mode if the phone remains without signal for a predetermined period of time. but that consumes a lot battery (especially if u are travelling). so don't use it now. If anyone want the action, i can post it here.
