I have a custom rom.
if i will go back to the stock rom, will i get the official update to sense 5 !?
Thanks!
Sooner or later you will..
That depends on your CID but you will most certainly get it...
Just keep in mind...
No matter what you did...
If you have a stock unmodified rom (root does not count), stock kernel and stock recovery you'll be able to get and install OTAs

look for nandroid first, check the link at end of post for your cid and then look for your main version, please note your main version has to match exactly. find you main version from fastboot by the following command, "fastboot getvar version-main" without the quotes, then look at this post>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140

yes software number, I already saw your cid on the list but I don;t know your main version or I would have just sent you link for that. And the great @Mr Hofs recommends to check for nandroid first, and he is rarely wrong. actually he is never wrong

Hmm i think you are stuck to a custom rom for a while until there is a matching nandroid or ruu available, i don't see them......but you say the phone is bootlooping ?
What has been changed ?
You can get into the bootloader ? If yes , you can flash the boot.img file from the rom again and you can flash the rom itself again .....

Well basically you need to find a ruu that matches the main version number, you need one exactly like that one starting with 1.28 or 1.29 or 3.14 then you can return to stock.....
Or you need a nandroid backup matching the cid and main version
I checked htcruu.com but there is no ruu for you, only one with a lower version number (but you can't use that one because downgrading is not possible)
Maybe there is one available on the file factory but i don't have an account there

You have to read the instructions how to, i have never done this method so i know as much as you do about it
But yes you have to do some reboot locking and flashing procedures, that's all i know about it
But backup the sdcard before you start doing the updating because locking and Re-unlocking wipes everything !!!

It's a list of RUUs, and he can just search his CID (with Ctrl + F) to get the download. Thought that would get him his RUU faster rather than having to wait for somebody to find out for him. Apologies for any harm done.

No mate its NOT a list of ruu's....its a list of nandroid backups. Installing them is completely different from a ruu ! No harm is done mate, don't worry. But its kinda wrong info.
A ruu, Rom Update Utility is an .exe file which you eexecute from the pc to the phone in bootloader mode with a locked bootloader which will flash back everything to stock for you. A nandroid backup has to be installed like a rom. Flashing the boot.img, wiping the phone and restoring the nandroid with a custom recovery

Yes that is possible, but we need his main version to determine his hboot version. If he is on a older hboot than 1.12 then a 3.14 ruu will not work. If its released in the first place. Because of the big difference in updating the hboot from such a low one to a very high one. It all stands and falls depending the version number.
And when he is still on a 1.12 hboot we can't use a 3.14 nandroid backup

i've read the thread and doesn't cover my concern. theres 2 files for me, nan backup and jb hboot and both have boot.img do i do them both one at a time flashing each boot image? sorry for all the questions this is last one
looks like im just restoring from a backup (nandroid) i'm going to try but i have tried to restore from 3 backups on my phone through cwm already and im still stuck at the htc boot screen hope this works.
Good Day,
I am currently trying to go back on Stock and stumpled over this thread.
Unfortunatly I did no backup when I rooted and installed another Rom, but the Author states that I may use another one's Backup.
My CID is O2___102 and some kind User named treebill uploaded his O2___102 backup. So far so clear.
But
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
tells me my HOX is currently using 2.17.207.2 while the backup of treebill is 2.17.206.2.
In fear of bricking my device, I am not sure if I can use this backup with a lower Versionnumber. I did a quick search but couldn't find an answer. My HBOOT is 1.12.000 if that is somehow an information of interest.
And on another Point: If I may use this backup and successfully restore stock, will my bootloader be locked again?
Great Thanks in Advance to the noble Responders
Are you sure you got yourself the right versions ?
Also do

Sure you wrote down the right version number here ?

This command delivers me <bootloader> DEBUG: cid: 02___102 which concurs with the cid of treebill.
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
tells me version-main: 2.17.207.2
And this h ttp://i.imagebanana.com/img/ww1dkc2n/cid.PNG is the backup I want to use (remove space in h ttp). It seems to be of an earlier version, so I don't know if I may use it.
That's kinda strange, I have seen the 207 software but it had CID 02__001
Ow and you can try the backup that is no problem, you will not brick your device ! The only thing is that the phone might not update !
And in this process you do not need to relock the bootloader !
You have 3 options.
1: try the 206 nandroid backup, flash back the stock 2.17 recovery and try to update. If it doesn't update ....no problem , go back to the latest backup
2: try to scoop up a 207 nandroid backup or RUU. But i didn't see no ruu with a 2.17.207 number
3: do a standalone firmware flash to lift your hboot to a JB one and flash a new JB rom of your choice
First of all: Thank you for your answer. I was busy studying so forgive me for posting this late.

If I understood right, I need the correct Ruu in both cases. I found this OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_O2_DE_3.14.207.27-2.17.207.2_release_2996435hle0dx8i1s01kza.zip File size: 350.92 Mb through google on roomyshare. The 02 DE looks to be the 02___102 cid, even through it is not really stated there.
I am a little unsure if this is the right thing. The 3.14.207.27 irritates me.

I am not really sure about downgrading. Try searching here, I remember there were some threads about it.
CID is hardcoded to your phone, so it cannot be changed unless S-OFF (which is not coming soon to One X). HBOOT also should remain the same.
But, why in the world you would go back? Why don't you flash some custom ROM instead and enjoy the life? I would strongly recommend you to try Renovate, and then decide. :good:
Yeah with that nandroid you can fool the bootloader, restore it and also flash back the stock 2.17 stock recovery. You should be able to update to JB stock with official ota.
Your cid will be listed as the same as the nandroid backup but will be corrected when you do the ota.

If you want to sell it, it's just as good as ICS stock. If you want to service it, it's the same.

Just a little warning to Solarr - because I've done it. You may need to follow this procedure:
What if i get MD5 Mismatch?
type in teminal:
Code:
adb shell
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/Name_of_the_nandbackup_folder
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5

because the folder name may not be cwm compatible. Don't worry, if you get the mismatch message, just do the above, and you will be alright. :good:
At first boot, you will get one small OTA first, and then the big one with JB update.
Good luck!

T-mob has no 2.22.401. Should be a different number. Carrier unbranded phones carry the .401 number.
You are misinformed.....check your details again. If your phone says .401 it's probably the custom rom number.
Well, thank for the reply, how do i check my version-main?
Even with fastboot it stays empty. Check my attachment.

I already know my CID is T-MOB003, but i can't find my firmware in a proper way, my software info says 2.22.401.5 but Mr Hofs said thats just the rom version. If i check with getvar all the version-main where its supposed to pop up, stays empty.

Or philz recovery, basically its a bug in TWRP that seems to hide the version number.
Do that and post your firmware version
The number does not come back after a stock recovery flash. Only after the correct firmware flash the os will show again in either the boot loader and fastboot getvar all list.
You need a .114 version !
Edit :
Or return to a stock nandroid backup (regardless which one), flash the matching stock recovery and pay for sunshine to s-off the device. Then change to wwe firmware (.401).
I figured out i have 1.57.114.2, what to do now?
