Proximity & G-Sensor Not working! - HTC One X

Hi everyone,
I've got a few issues with my one x, (out of warranty)
The proximity sensor never works!
and the g-sensor, sometime works and sometimes doesnt!
2 days ago, it just started working, i ran teeter and it ran well, also rotation worked nicely, then yesterday, it again went off
I tried G-Sensor calibration, it says "calibration complete" but nothing happens!
Are these software related issues?
Is there any fix?

This issue seems to be in one x shipped with sensors made from MPL Invensense. It appears to be a race condition in kernel where the sensors are not initialized during boot.
There are some temporary workarounds mentioned in this forum, however they may or may not work.
So far none of them have worked for me.

Sensors not working

Hi!
I got a rooted DZ with several rom's tried out.
I believe that in the Stock OTA-ROM everything worked fine.
Now I'm at the Vision-Desire-HD-Sense 3.0 .
The light sensor is working a bit, but shows at darkness 10, at daylight 40 and in the sun 160. Another Handy shows 160 at daylight and 360 in the sun.
The proximity sensor always shows 9.0 ...
Is the sensor damaged or can I replace some library's or config files in the ROM?
Thx!!!
Domi
maybe is the rom. Try reinstalling it.

Did you find the solution?
I guess I have the same problem.
I have the same problem. Tried differebt ROMs, but it still don't work.
Did anyone solve the problem?

If it's anything like my Desire Z, your phone will be permanently affected by this. My light sensor just stopped working one day, and never started working again.

Compass workaround for Telus ICS ROM on Tmo T989

If you have the Telus Rom running on your Tmo GSll, I found a compass with an adjustable azimuth that can be manually calibrated to correct for the polarity issue we seem to be having with this setup.
It is in the market (play store) called smart compass. there are several apps by the same developer in a group called smart tools. There are free and paid versions available so cost isn't an issue. I installed a paid one to support the dev. In the settings is an azimuth adjuster (just like a real compass), and I was able to fix the compass for that app. good enough until a permanent solution comes along.
I think x said to just calibrate your gyro and it fixed it for him..haven't tried it

+1 Calibrating fixed it for me as well.
Did not work for me. Calibrated using GPS Status and still getting North as East.

Same thing happened for me as well. The Calibrating didn't seem to work. Maybe I did it wrong? But I tried multiple times with the same result.
The sensor in the phone is backwards. I couldn't calibrate it either. Thats why I suggested this app. It has manual calibration that goes beyond the software limitations of the device. It doesn't fix the phone, but it gives you a working compass until we can figure out the problem with the phone.

It's funny, I just tried this compass and didn't have to configure or calibrate anything. It worked perfectly right away. I am keeping this compass. Only one that has worked correctly so far. Thanks.

[Q] Proximity sensor calibration

Hey,
is there any way to calibrate the proximity sensor one the One X?
For some reason my proximity Sensor needs very high brightness values to activate the screen again, when calling. This happens on every ROM I use, even stock. Does anyone else have this issue and is there a solution? I've been looking for a while now but only found solutions for other devices. Help would be very appreciated
Are you taking about ambient light sensor?
Proximity sensor is sensor made for distance detection.
No I actually mean the proximity sensor. I know it shouldn't be depending on light but it does. I don't know why. First I thought the sensor is broken, but if there is enough light it reacts to movement. If not I'm not able to get the screen back on until the other person hangs up. Its really weird. Sometimes even the little red light stays on. In the DHD forum i saw a thread about someone who developed an app to recalibrate the proximity sensor, so i thought this could also be done for the HOX.
For your knowledge, the proximity sensor on One X is kind of binary type (return 0/1;object detected /none). There are some sensors test tool offers on play store, you may try them out..

Ok. I did that already. Same happens there. Thats why Im not sure if its malfunctioning or just needs to be calibrated.

Well, this is enough. I have to assume that its a hardware defect and I wont send it in a 6th time.Getting rid of this contract next week.

i had exactly the same problem. You can fix it with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882725 this patch. All you need is a custom rom with init.d support. Cheers!
You can use this.

Thanks! That solved the problem for me. I had always found the proximity sensor a bit too unresponsive. I didn't know it could be callibrated.
Ok i found out that my proximity sensor is working but it needs a lot of light to see me i was wondering if there is a way to calibrate it manually and i can update to jellybean my phone is from mexico telcel and my CID BSTAR301 i tried some of the apps in the playstore but they dont work i using stock rom whit ICS can somebody help please
You'll need root access, read the sticky in android development forum

[Q]Sense 5 Camera without G-Sensor

Many people (including myself) are having problem with Camera FC due to G-Sensor stop working. Hearing seems to be the only solution but it doesn't last after reboot.
Camer that doesn't require G-Sensor works however couldn't find any good one on play store.
People are saying it's hardware fault but this is the first time I'm experiencing this problem since last two years.
Problem occurred shortly after flashing Sense 5 ROM. Tried CM, still problem with G-Sensor.
Can anyone modify Sense 5 camera so that it won't require G-Sensor?

[SOLVED][Q] Gyroscope not working.

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
hi, i use the htc one m9 (dev eddition), i reside in india and had shipped this phone from the us.
my g-sensor(gyroscope) has an issue, it does not work anymore, it worked for the first few days but then it just stopped, nothing triggered it , it happened all of a sudden, ive tried several factory resets, wiping my cache from recovery and recaliberating the g sensor in both normal and safe mode( what i noticed here is that only the up/down moment is detected by the virtual spiritlevel, but not the left /right), but nothing worked for me. please let me know what to do to get my g-sensor working back again.
(is there a way i dont have to ship the phone to the us for repairs?)(htc one m9 not launching in india.)(i spoke to coustomer care , they didnt have the info for m9)
thanks in advance

I had this exact thing happen to my first M9. Worked for a few days, then quit working for no reason.
Sorry to say, it's a hardware issue and will require repairing or replacing.

Yes, I'm in the US. I got my M9 from Verizon and since I was within my 14 day return period, I simply took it in to the Verizon store where I bought it, showed them the problem, and they replaced it for free on the spot.

i got the solution, this is crazy but works...
go to help app(the one htc pre-installed on ur phone)
then go to hardware misbehaving?
hardware diagnostics
G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. let it say failed.
next from that screen tap on calibrate g sensors
do the calibration on a flat surface
go back and do the test. this time it will say it worked.
and acctually, it did work, my autorotate , riptide, dot-breaker, everything based on gyroscope sensor is now working fine !!
