Can I (and how) put the latest and greatest Touchwiz that's on the GS3 on my Gs2-T989?
Look in the themes and apps section.

Unfortunately, I am on the UVLE1 base - the latest KIES update. I assume this will not work?

That's why I haven't tried it yet. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
That would be cool if it is possible, does the the themed versions have all the functionality of the actual touchwiz version? or is it mostly eye candy but not really the same thing?
It will work just fine
I have it right now

cool, I will try it out. I'm kind of sick of the touchwiz UI after using the Transformer TF300. I would really like just vanilla ICS on the device (but I dont think that is possible)
Here i have it working fine.

so all the Gs3 variants have roms up and running except sprint . are any of the other carriers roms compatible with sprints ?
Verizon doesn't seem to have any yet. Give it time. The phone just came out

Just wait a bit myn got the phone and I'm sure he'll make an amazing Rom I switch carriers so I hope myn makes a tmobile compatible

Don't be in such a hurry like me, there's no standalone patch for the rom counter and there is only one rooted standard rom that won't trip it.

yea you guys are right im just being impatient . to be honest id be satified with a few inverted apps, project butter, the new google search and hacked sprint hotspot... hope its sooner than later
tmobile offical update for jellybean wont be until the end of 2012, so cant we just port the official jelly bean update from sprint? cause basically the sprint gs3 and all other carriers are the same internally except for the radio. so as long as we just flash the rom without the radio, we should be good ? i have no idea. idk. just a thought
I'm sure someone will try it out soon, but I'm pretty sure you can flash Sprint and att roms no problem

I've read only att roms are safe to flash for t mobile s3
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I believe all the carriers have pretty much identical hw except the radios. They most likely have the same partition mapping and so its probably ok to flash anothers roms.
That said, I would NOT do this without solid confirmation. Its basically an educated guess on my part. (A day or two ago someone said they flashed a Verizon rom and it worked, but again, I wouldn't take my or their word for it alone)

Ktoonsez built his touchwiz kernel off the sprint jb source so I'm with doc on this. It's most likely safe. I'm hoping T-Mobile will release their source soon.

Someone in general clashed Sprint and Verizon ROMs just fine. The only issue was getting radios to communicate with the software. I believe they got everything working on the Sprint ROM but Verizon had extra authentication methods.

There are unconfirmed reports that we'll get Jelly bean by the end of november which is really only 4 weeks from now.
Or we can be impatient and want it now.

graffixnyc released a modded version already. I'm working on a straight stock port of it but haven't had much time with it so far. (It boots and runs but I need to do more to it) I should get some time I can spend on it later today, I hope!

Are you trying to get someone to brick their phone. No you can't flash a sprint rom to a tmobile phone.

The OP could be telling the truth, but till a credible member verify this, I'll question the validity of his/her post. Still, even if it turns out to be true, It remains to be a question whether a sprint rom is flashable on ours or not.

You can flash a sprint rom just fine. will stuff not work without modification? yes, but you will not brick it.
Now, if you flash an international rom to a US variant you will brick because the partitions are different. But everything is the same on the US variants. You do have to change things in the build.prop and make other mods to make it work on GSM. The only thing bad would be if the sprint rom flashes a modem but that wouldn't even brick because you could just flash the correct modem
I also want to mention I released a straight stock port on the ATT forums. This release will work for tmo as well. You just have to change the build prob stuff to show it as a t999 instead of a i747
All the S3 from US carrier have the same hardware. It could be ported just that the radios will have to be changed. I wont doubt it if they do it :good:
OK guys no more talking, that's the official JB for the sprint version, ported for the T-Mobile
Check out. Working great on my phone.

If it comes out for the 7105 yes, you would need to flash the Tmo modem but other then that it should work. Now if it is for the 7100 then no it wont work.
7105 = international LTE
7100 = international GSM only
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Im positive we will get aokp & cm10 once source is released. Our notes are too new yet, give it time. Im betting by early next year we will have something.
i was just getting ready to flash the lastest n7100 nightly and looked here again just to see.. glad i did.. would have been a pain to odin back to stock and start over.
Yea I tired flagging the nightly and it killed my baseband. I just restored from nandroid and it worked again.
It was so nice to have the speed and look of AOSP on this phone though. I really can't wait until we get AOSP ROMs or until we figure out a way to port N7100 ROMs.

ATT has any rom they want, tmo has nothing.
why is that?

Check out the Jedi Roms. Ptmr3 is an awesone dev for our tmo note2.
Yes but I was wondering about aosp, aokp, and cm10 or even miui, the att version came out later than ours and they have any room they want, such a shame I can't afford att, and we only have the jedi series, but don't get me wrong jedi x kick ass

Yup. All of them. Just be ready to flash the T-Mobile radio if a ROM includes it.

so if I just flashed at&t rom, and after that I flashed my T-Mobile radio, everything will fine or I still get a few problems with the connection etc....?
I know it will install on ours, I played with miui for a bit. I also saw good speeds. But, I wonder about intermittent issues.

Because that nifty little s pen wont work with other roms amongst other things

Yep. You may need a tmobile radio on some of them. They will work though.
