Note 2 N7100 US - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, just wanted to know if there were any users of the N7100 in the US? What they thought of the service and functionality also GPS. I'm on AT&T and switching from an Xperia TL. I don't really care about LTE, as long as I can get 4G here in Los Angeles, I don't download things enough for it to be a big difference. I'll have the phone Monday, so any thoughts before then would help. (I will be checking for the emmc bug right out of the box, if its bad I'm sending it back anyway.)

I have an international note 2 and live in Maryland, as long as you're in the more populated areas you should be fine for H+ such as the metropolitan areas but once you leave there it gets pretty scarce and you're mostly going to be in edge, I'm on t mobile usa and I'm not sure how it is on other carriers, you shouldn't have any problems with with gps.

Living in Baltimore since April and can confirm what hendog4385 said. I'm also on T-Mobile.

Well, my phone just experienced SDS and living in the US, it seems near impossible to get anything done about it. So that's something to consider. I need a new phone now, and it will likely not be another international device after this experience.

Hi, I have GT7100 and live In Ohio. I used to receive 2g(edge), T-Mobile installed 1900mhz in my city, now I'm receiving hspa+ faster than LTE. If you can't receive hope from T-Mobile. You should consider Straight Talk or att t. Straight talk is the best solution

Seriously google is your friend.

Browsing suck on this network this app runs faster. i can't do nothing on 3g Browsing . But using this apps knowing the locations from this app i use everyday helps. It's really bad in illinois 3g is horrible. I just came from T-Mobile a month ago.
I keep my phone on cdma all the time to save battery.

Recently where I work, we had a meeting with Sprint network engineers and corporate Sprint sales people and I asked them when we should expect LTE to be in our area (West Texas more specifically Abilene, TX)
The engineer said that we should get LTE here in late 2013, third or fourth quarter
In translation to me, that means early to mid 2014! HAHA
I can't wait, I gave up a 4G phone to hop to the S III with LTE radio to be ready for it

[Q] Okay so I feel dumb but I need/want to know

So its a simple question, but if my fiance' bought her phone from Carphonewarehouse.com (uk site) and we have T-mobile here in USA, would the Galaxy Note II from that site work on T-Mobiles 4G network out here, even though the phone is from the UK? Or would any phones? I don't know how that works.
Thanks ahead of time
Rob
It will eventually work on tmobile hspa once your area is transitioned to the 1900 frequency for the reform. So just Kansas City and Las Vegas officially but more cities are in the process so you might notice it here and there say h or h+ but if the phone says E then you're still stuck on good ol edge aka 2g.

ah so I am pretty much better off hoping there is a good sale for the S3, or Note II by the end of November cause TMO has that 30 day guarantee right? I can return my phone and pay the difference for a better one?

Awesome news. Can't wait to see this in action.
which data plan will it available? i mean like i have the unlimited data plan. is that mean i will have unlimited LTE data plan?
Tmo also just announced an LTE variant of the GS3. It is getting serious. So much for guys saying "no LTE until 2014"...

The obvious question is when will the Note2 update with the new modem roll out? Hopefully in 3 weeks when LTE goes live in Vegas? I smell a road trip!
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
The question is... what if they take months just to deliver a new modem...
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Tmonews just mentioned a software update for the note 2. Didn't mention any specifics though. I'd bet it will coincide with the initial markets go-live.
This is starting to play out just like the installation techs said it would when they installed the new equipment at a local tmo tower.

I'm right there with you! Considering our city is one of the biggest in the country we should be getting it not too long after release. We are one of the first receiving upgrades like that. The network reform for example...

North Jersey also
Outside of where I work there were guys working on a tower. I asked them who were they worked for.... They told me Tmobile and they were putting in LTE ...that was in Elizabeth NJ... he said by the 13th it would be working.
Sure hope the they hurry up. I'm still on 2G here at work and it's infuriating.
I assume since they were gonna use the 2G frequencies for LTE I might finally be able to pull at least 3G here?
---------
G1(CM7)--> G2(CM9)--> Note 2 T889 stock (root + multiwindow mod)
NYC should be soon also. Towers are more than likely already wired for LTE. Of course my speeds now are pretty great. No complaints.
I am SO TEMPTED to switch back to T-Mobile for the Note 2 and their upcoming LTE network.
1900mhz & AWS 3G bands
LTE capability
save loads of $$$$
TRULY unlimited HSPA/LTE data
Fast data speeds during phone calls
Hate AT&T, but love how their network is mature. My friend's T-Mobile phone likes to occasionally switch to E.

News from tmobile tech

Here's some news. Talked to a tech today for awhile resolving an account issue. During our conversation I asked about deployment plans. Here is the top five things they said they're doing:
1. Rolling out LTE upgrades to current 4g towers. Which may cause temporary service loss of data.
2. Upgrading all towers along the interstate system in their current footprint to hspa and to LTE in larger cities with 4g already deployed.
3. LTE will roll out in large cities with 4g first that have completed upgrades.
4. Metropcs lte towers may be given greenlight for us to roam on until the switchover (which is contrary to previous statements)
5. Acquire more 1900mhz and AWS spectrum for more buildouts of hspa and LTE.
They're also looking at possibly doing unlimited data with tether soon. But no word on pricing or availability.

Im here at the one of the tmobile store in california. A regional manager is here today at the store. I ask him if our note 2 will need any update to use the new lte services when it out. He said no! He told me there actually installing lte towers right now in la and oc county! No wonder my service is been off and on today! Just did a speedtest and wow its getting faster and faster! !!

If the phone can support Band 4 LTE (which I do not think AT&T uses for their LTE), it can support it.
These threads seem silly, because what tech and care know is far from the truth. Also to whoever thinks that you don't need a update for lte, you are most certainly wrong. We just got LTE installed on the towers on our building and it is not working on my note. But other notes in the building we have for testing have LTE up and running just fine. Unfortunately these notes were sent already put together, so whether it was a update or a sim card is hard to tell because I haven't got hands on time alone with them yet. Another possible solution is a provision, through one of tmobiles systems for troubleshooting I have seen lte settings for a phone line specifically but wouldn't have the information to properly set it up.

Have experienced crap downloads but in South Phoenix where I live im 5 miles away from the nearest TMO advertised tower (and coming from cricket, its still fast in my mind) but this past few weeks I have experienced better speeds but more intiguing is my connectivity has gone haywire at times resulting in excessive batter consumption (periodically)... hoping this is LTE configs at work but its all a waiting game at this point

So... What's T-Mobile Like??

With the ads that T-Mobile is paying ETF's and seeing I can get the Note 3 for $0 down and that it's rootable with Odin and CF Auto Root, and there are even ROMS (although I didn't really look through them yet), AND T-Mobile has 4G here, would I miss anything from US Cellular?
All depends on your location. I'm in Denver and rarely have any trouble with service. Have been happy with my switch from evil red.

I'm in the Tampa area and I love it. Strong coverage with the only issue being building penetration
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Since I have great coverage and 4G right now with US Cellular, I'd assume T-Mobile would be the same. I might have to stop into a store and see what's up.
In the metro Atlanta area, awesome service. Left sprint when the note 3 came out, best decision ever.

I'm in Seattle (go hawks) and service is amazing. lte is fast and everywhere. Been with them 12 years in 3 markets. The service and products is top notch, but it's probably sketchy if you live or travel frequently in a rural area. Metro areas and along interstate routes are good though, in my experience.
Better than Sprint in Tampa. Thats for sure.

I am also in the Tampa area (live in Wesley Chapel and work by the airport). I recently left Sprint and am loving the service so far. Both give me great signal in my house, but the key area is my job. With Sprint, i barely got a signal at my job and my battery would be lucky to last by lunch with my Note 2. With my Note 3 on Tmo Im getting great signal at my job (switches between 4g and 4g LTE). Im also getting calls with Tmo where there were times when my wife called on my Sprint phone, it would go to VM.
The only concern I have is that Sprint is supposed to launch their new network in my area and its supposed ot be better at building penetration. My wife and I have been with Sprint over 10 years and think we have found a new home with Tmo

I found a lot of people are making this trip lol.....but its worth it and with Tmo, i think i will like my service better. My only concern was that my wife has an Iphone 5S and it doesnt have WiFi calling. So i need to make sure that she is good with the coverage. Even with new service Sprint is going to get in Tampa, I think its a case of little too late.

I was in Orlando this weekend (usually go up there with my wife one a month or so). I noticed the coverage was great! My wife and I had signal in places where our Sprint phone didnt. Since we are testing it out during the return period, we were able to do side by side comparisons and the Tmo phone did better every time where we were up there.
I'm in the Orlando area, I'm happy with my T-Mobile service and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm also in Orlando and coming from Sprint I've seen a dramatic difference in coverage and network speed when I jumped to T-Mobile. Sprint was robbing me!

For the 8+ years I've been with T Mobile it's been good so far. Some areas I do have signal issues but with Wifi calling it's not an issue. Each carrier have their pros and cons. For me T Mobile suit my needs and for a very good price.
