Hi guys. I'm trying to put a new rom on this phone here. One rom said it loaded (way too quickly) and my phone just kept going back to the recovery screen. Another rom meanbean would get to installing /system... and resets to the Android system recovery screen and when I reboot it's still the previous rom synergy on there.
My hboot is 0.93 , radio 2.15.00.11.19
I don't understand what is not going right here. Any guidance please?
TIA
Did you wipe the system before installing the new rom. I usually flash superwipe before flashing any new rom then go back and flash the new rom.

Part of your problem is that you flashed a ROM for the EVO LTE. The HTC EVO 4G & HTC EVO 4G LTE are not the same phone, and their respective ROMs are not interchangeable with one another. Go through the Development forums for this device and find a ROM and flash it.

Recovery work perfectly fine, let me try flashing some other rom.
Also, because this might be a bad radio flash, can reflashing radio hurt?

Could you give more information so I could be of help. Like what Rom, kernel, recovery anything specific...

I recommend you flash the previous version and then do a full wipe....next, flash a rom...then when that boots you can go back into recovery again and restore a nandroid if you would like....

Using Clockwork 2.5.1 (?, flashing right now) so I can't check.
Was on MYN RLS4. Flashed the bundled radio zip linked above, now in this situation. Currently, I'm flashing to RLS5 after a ADB push of the zip file. Edit: Was on BS#6 Kernel
If this doesn't work, I'll flash a deodexed stock 3.70.
Any more recommendations?
edit: Looks like I got past the HTC Evo 4G screen, just waiting for the MYN boot animation now.
edit2: I booted up, thanks for the help. At least I can rest knowing that my radio flash wasn't borked.

Ive had the same problem today on two different evos, with two different recoveries! Both times I just booted into recovery and ran a full nandroid backup, then restarted and it stuck in white screen.
First was with amon_ra recovery. I pulled the battery after it stuck on white screen and it rebooted fine.
Second time was with clockwork. I just now pulled the battery and rebooted..... and it looks to be sticking again.
Both are running Fresh Rom. v3.5.01 I think.
Do you have the SDK installed and a usb cable? Hook up the evo, then do: "adb logcat", power on, and post the output. Note: it sounds like it is looping so watch carefully and when you see it looping hit "crtl+c" to stop logcat.
Do this! download this to you sd card http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PXIYUNSY than boot into bottloader, let the phone search for the file update and this should get you up and running. The problem doing what you did is that that works when a different kernel not htc kernel.
good lookin out

What's the purpose of doing this? Just like a RUU, right?
yes! But this should give you all that you are looking for, is much easier.trust me!
You will not Loose Root.
You lucky son of a gun, my old evo wouldn't even not into recovery. Just bootloader. After stressing out for hours trying to fix it I finally got a replacement
The same thing happened to me and your link worked like a charm. I was just wondering if after I did this would I still be able to try and flash a different rom? or am I stuck with this one? I am just wondering....as you can see Im pretty new to the rooting game.
Basically, if you update your radios, you have to also update your rom to 3.70 build otherwise the phone won't get pass the bootanimation screen. Normally, you would update the rom then update the radios. Also, to nandroid or flash back to 3.30 build, you have to downgrade the radios back to the version used for 3.30. I was stuck on bootloop with new radios if I flashed any rom below 3.70, but downgrading the radios to previous version allowed for 3.30 nandroid restores.
Ok thank you a bunch for the info!! you were a life saver lol

Please do not start new threads when people are trying to help you. Wait patiently for an answer before starting a new one. You have started 4 threads already about rooting your phone and the problems you have. Invest some time in reading, learning and understanding the wikis. Thank you.
Sorry. I'm just paniking for the fact my phone is stuck on the boot screen and I'm jusst trying to get help asap. And actually the other thread was about if my phone was rooted so this thread is on another topic.
Are you still able to boot into recovery? And if so, what is displayed in your screen?
So I took the battery out, put it back in.. held power and the volume button it took me to where it says s-off n did a system recover. It worked!!! Haha... now I wanna try again but can u tell me what I did wrong??? I downloaded the cyanogen 6.1.1 and just started it up with the google stuff. It rebooted did its thing n stayed at the boot screen... am I supposed to clear something?? I read somethin like that when I was on google with my gfs phone. (I'm out somewhere... made me panik more since I don't have access to a computer atm)

Which version of ClockworkMod are you using?
Since you trie to flash a CM6.1. rom (which is froyo, android 2.2 based) you must use a ClockworkMod 2.5.x or below (or compatible).
And did you install Engineering HBoot? Sorry for asking, but it's unclear to me what you exactly have been doing already.
I did the visionary/gfree root last night without the hboot. And I tried the cyanogen 6.1.1 which was suggested by another user on here in one of my threads.

Btw my clockworkmod says 3.0.0.5
Whatever version that was on the market is the one I downloaded.

Apart from the fact that it seems to me that you skipped a step (hboot), which you have to perform , you are also trying to flash a 2.2 rom with the wrong recovery. Try with the 2.5 version in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898151

First of all, flashing the engineering HBOOT is not required unless you want to use fastboot on your computer. Also, if you used ROM Manager to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, that version is supposed to support both 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs. It was only the beta version of the recovery that was on this forum that only supported 2.3 and not 2.2---unfortunately, it was also labeled 3.0.0.5 and caused lots of confusion).
As far as why you are stuck at the boot screen, did you wipe data/cache when you flashed the ROM? Whenever you switch to a completely different ROM (as opposed to simply upgrading one), it's a good practice to. Also, the first time you start a new ROM, it'll take longer to boot up since the phone will be rebuilding its dalvik-cache (on CM6.1, it's be at a CM animation).
Ahh yeahhh okay good. So u cleared it all up for me n now my phone is running great

Ok so I flashed it the first time and it was successful but noticed market was not opening so I flash the latest gapps for cyonogen mod and then everthing fc so wiped and flash and now it won't even boot it gets stuck on splash screen. Is it cause of SD card is on ext 4 or is it smellkus recovery or what?? Any help is much appreciative
Try wiping cache and dalvik then fix permissions in recovery.
Did you flash the correct ROM for your specific phone model and carrier? I had the the problem of flashing a T-Mobile ROM for my GS2 a while back, due to my excitement about using an ICS rom.

Can you boot into recovery? If so, I think your best bet is to restore a backup, delete the faulty ROM, and try reinstalling it if you want that specific ROM badly enough. That has worked for me a few times.

Yes I could go into recovery and I actually fixed the issue. I'm guessing it was the recovery itself that I was using because now I flashed Among RA recovery and now is booted and working fine. A great Tom overall. Thanks guys for your help

Not to bother anyone, but I was trying to run the droid GTRv2.0 ROM on my EVO 4G and it wont get past the first screen.
Hi, I recently got a used Evo but its stuck on the boot screen. I have no idea what has been done to the device and was wondering if someone would be able to help me. I have found a few guides as I want to flash it back to stock but again, am not sure which guide to follow as I dont know what I have. I am able to boot into recovery (It has team win recovery project v2.0.0) and below is the info that comes up when I hold the power and volume down key:
Revolutionary
Supersonic EVT3 Ship S-OFF
HBOOT-6. 16. 1002
Microp-041f
Touch Panel-ATMELC03_16ac
Radio-2.15.00.0808

HBOOT
I would appreciate any help even if its a simple post that says "This has been already answered a million times, follow the guide in my sig"
Thanks for any help!
Not sure of a way to tell which ROM your phone is on from recovery. Your best bet would be to install a ROM on the root of the SD card, wipe Dalvik and cache, along with a factory reset, then flash the new ROM. Or just try wiping Dalvik and cache from recovery, then rebooting your phone to see if it boots properly.

Thanks for the reply. I did try wiping the cache and factory reset but it still hangs on the boot screen. When I checked the stock roms, there were like 3 different ones . odex, deodexed , and non rooted. Would you happen to know what the safest of these is to flash without knowing what's on there? I just dont know if I flash the incorrect one if that would give me an unrecoverable error. I could just guess but figured someone out there would know pretty easily.
You can run either odexed or deodexed ROM's.

Thanks Fin for all your help. I was going to download the stock rom's but decided to just flash nitrous as it was one of the first I came across. But the phone is all up and running now! Thanks again Fin!

Quite welcome. Glad you got it up and running.
I didn't think about this when I originally replied, but, for future reference, some recoveries have an option to view the current ROM version. I'm running a Smelkus recovery that has an option to get the current ROM version under 'Other' from the main menu. Excellent recovery, I might add. It's based on Amon Ra.
This is the first time I have ever flashed a Rom, It loaded successfully but when it rebooted it took me back to the stock boot screen with the three skating android dudes and every time I reboot it keeps going back to that... PLEASE help. Flashed Shooter 3.0 v2
Never heard of it booting back to the bootloader before. What HBOOT version are you currently on? What recovery are you using? Sounds like a bad download, or you didn't wipe everything like you were supposed to prior to flashing the new ROM.

HBOOT is 2.18 and recovery is amon ra 2.3 I believe. I did wipe and tried again and again but wouldnt work so tried a different rom and now is working. Maybe just file? Would really like that shooter rom but... You suggest another rom?
Per forum rules, I'm not going to suggest any particular ROM. Just start flashing and figure out which one works best for you
