Phone does not boot past HTC Evo 4G screen? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed the following: EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_WiMAX_27167_R01_PRI_NV_1.90_003.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?6jb1pee933ubsex
Pulled battery, wiped everything. Still stuck. Pulled battery, nandroid into backup, still stuck.
Any ideas?

Recovery work perfectly fine, let me try flashing some other rom.
Also, because this might be a bad radio flash, can reflashing radio hurt?

Could you give more information so I could be of help. Like what Rom, kernel, recovery anything specific...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

I recommend you flash the previous version and then do a full wipe....next, flash a rom...then when that boots you can go back into recovery again and restore a nandroid if you would like....

Using Clockwork 2.5.1 (?, flashing right now) so I can't check.
Was on MYN RLS4. Flashed the bundled radio zip linked above, now in this situation. Currently, I'm flashing to RLS5 after a ADB push of the zip file. Edit: Was on BS#6 Kernel
If this doesn't work, I'll flash a deodexed stock 3.70.
Any more recommendations?
edit: Looks like I got past the HTC Evo 4G screen, just waiting for the MYN boot animation now.
edit2: I booted up, thanks for the help. At least I can rest knowing that my radio flash wasn't borked.

What happened after you flash the radio? Be specific..

Ive had the same problem today on two different evos, with two different recoveries! Both times I just booted into recovery and ran a full nandroid backup, then restarted and it stuck in white screen.
First was with amon_ra recovery. I pulled the battery after it stuck on white screen and it rebooted fine.
Second time was with clockwork. I just now pulled the battery and rebooted..... and it looks to be sticking again.
Both are running Fresh Rom. v3.5.01 I think.

Do you have the SDK installed and a usb cable? Hook up the evo, then do: "adb logcat", power on, and post the output. Note: it sounds like it is looping so watch carefully and when you see it looping hit "crtl+c" to stop logcat.

Do this! download this to you sd card http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PXIYUNSY than boot into bottloader, let the phone search for the file update and this should get you up and running. The problem doing what you did is that that works when a different kernel not htc kernel.

good lookin out

What's the purpose of doing this? Just like a RUU, right?

yes! But this should give you all that you are looking for, is much easier.trust me!

You will not Loose Root.

You lucky son of a gun, my old evo wouldn't even not into recovery. Just bootloader. After stressing out for hours trying to fix it I finally got a replacement

The same thing happened to me and your link worked like a charm. I was just wondering if after I did this would I still be able to try and flash a different rom? or am I stuck with this one? I am just wondering....as you can see Im pretty new to the rooting game.

Basically, if you update your radios, you have to also update your rom to 3.70 build otherwise the phone won't get pass the bootanimation screen. Normally, you would update the rom then update the radios. Also, to nandroid or flash back to 3.30 build, you have to downgrade the radios back to the version used for 3.30. I was stuck on bootloop with new radios if I flashed any rom below 3.70, but downgrading the radios to previous version allowed for 3.30 nandroid restores.

Ok thank you a bunch for the info!! you were a life saver lol

Same Questions
Ok so I did what you said above and loaded that file onto sd card and went into bootloader if worked and i managed to get into recovery and flashed fresh and got the phone booted all way but I want Warm two point two so i flashed that version 4 and it wont go past the white HTC screen what can I do

Evo Stuck in Boot Loop, Bricked?

I'm rooted, unrevoked; I'm currently stuck in a boot loop. I can not reach recovery. I can not get to my rom. I can only access bootloader.
So far I have taken these steps to cure my problem:
Ran RUU software in Windows (with and without sd card in evo)
Flashed RUU as PC36IMG in bootloader
Cleared Storage using fastboot in command prompt
Cleared Recovery and then Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork using fastboot in command prompt
Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed Sprint Lover's as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed eng-PC36IMG from Toastctfh's Old Root Tutorial as PC36IMG in hboot
Each of these methods flashed successfully as far as I can tell... yet I still go into an infinite boot loop.
Before the bootloop this is what I was doing:
I had the initial CM7 nightly installed for about 2 weeks. It was buggy, and a few days ago restarted and deleted all my texts, and desynced from google. On rebooting, google apps acted as if I had never ran the phone before - it asked me to enter google account info, etc, upon reboot.
I decided CM7 was too unstable and so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed CM6. When CM6 booted google apps was already on, before I had even flashed it! Anyways I figured I wanted to give MIUI a run, so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed MIUI. It ran fine for about two hours, and then rebooted out of nowhere... and never came out of the boot loop.
I'm really starting to sweat this as I have gone three days now without a phone. Does anyone have any ideas that may help me? Thanks.
hmm, you could flash recovery through bootloader i think

I had same problem, the radios messed my phone and was stuck in a boot loop and mess with my usb drivers as well so I couldnt charge my phone...i had to buy spare battery charger and flash different radio and rom through hboot
I'm pretty sure Sprint Lover's and RUU have the latest radios in them
You shouldnt be bricked and if you flashed an RUU, you wont have root anymore, nor will you have a recovery img. I would suggest running the RUU again. As long as it finishes without errors, you should be fine. Now, just a quick question, what are you seeing that makes you think you are in a bootloop??
Are you sure RUU removes root? I've RUU'd through my computer, as well as flashing an RUU zip as PC36IMG, and I still have S-OFF. If it would turn it to S-ON, that would be amazing.
your ruu file could be bad as well .. it happened to me once and had to redownload...for some reason it wasnt as big as it should of been

[Q] Bricked my EVO?

Well I did a bit of searching and I know how to flash roms and zips just fine. I was on cm7 and I decided to update all my radios ect to the latest version using Calk's aio package. Well I switched from clockwork 3.005 to the latest Amon Ra because I am pretty sure the zip file needed Edify scripting. Well I installed the zip and it rebooted and my phone just turned off and I can't turn it back on despite me pulling the battery ect. If I return this to the Sprint Store what will they do? The phone is relatively new and was bought during Christmas but since its unrooted and flashed with a custom rom, I don't know what Sprint will do.
Thank you

Have you got the phone to come on? or can you go into the phones bootloader?

Wait, so this happened after you flashed the radios or after you flashed Amon recovery?
How did you flash the Amon recovery ? ROM manager? Bootloader ? Do you get a charging led when you plug it in to the wall charger? Are you sure you didn't pull the battery while it was flashing the radio ? A radio flash can take a while, and the phone does some different stuff and shows some different screens during a radio flash. If that's the case, you may indeed have a brick. If so, before going to Sprint, clear all your roms, radios, flashing stuff etc from your SD card, so the tech cant see any if it. Id play dumb with Sprint, say you don't know what happened, it just won't turn on...or something like that.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
okay well I am going to backup my sd card then wipe it and take it in. We'll see what happens. Thank You!
I deleted the stuff on my sd card but will the tech people be able to see that I had a custom rom flashed or had an alternate recovery image flashed?
Well they won't if they can't turn it back on

Yup, as James said, if they can't turn it on, there is nothing they can do. The sd card contents would've been the only give away, but you've handled that already. As long as when they pop a fresh battery in to try to turn it on, and it doesn't turn on, you'll be good.

HTC Droid Incredible Stuck at "White HTC INcredible Screen"

Hey people,
I've recently rooted my phone using the UnRevoked root method without a hitch. I've also recently installed HydraKernal's OC 1.13ghz OV v1.0 kernel (On the Stock 2.2 Froyo ROM). However recently my phone has been freezing and stuff, so I went back today to reflash my phone back to the stock kernal, using the stock one provided from HydraKernal's Support section on the website. After flashing, I get stuck at the HTC Incredible white boot screen and have to do a battery pull. I've tried reflashing to the previously working OC 1.13ghz kernal with no luck, and my SD card got corrupted so I lost my nandroid backup. Any ideas? I'm currently in the process of unrooting, but I'm not sure if this is the right step to take. I've cleared the Devlik and regular cache's but have not done a factory reset, because I'd like to keep my phone setup how it is. If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks...
-Matt
You will have to revert to stock and then re-root. Because you have lost your nandroid, you lost a lot.
Download this file
http://www.fourty.net/~berzerker/stockstuff/PB31IMG_3.26.605.1_RUU.zip
Rename it to PB31IMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card, Boot into the bootloader (hold vol- and pwr) and let it run the update. After it is done you will be back to a stock 2.2 and can re-root from there and do whatever other updates there are. I would suggest using a newer kernel as those hydra kernels are very outdated.
Okay, did it all. Worked like a charm. Rerooted with a Nandroid backed up to my PC. Learned my lesson. Thanks guys !

Bricked Evo, Please HELP

I nandroid to a sense rom and updated prl. Nandroid back to CM7 and then flashed Tiamat's latest kernel and Viperboy's aosp battery mod. Rom went into boot loop. I took out battery and went to recovery (using Amon-RA). However, in recovery, nothing shows up. I get a blank screen with just the build number of the recovery at the bottom of the screen.
Now my phone is useless and I need it as I am in clinical rotations in Akron and away from home. This is my only source for communication.
EDIT: I know this is the general section, but no one visits the Q/A section and I need immediate help.

Well if it were bricked it wouldnt even turn on so your ok. When u boot into recovery, let it sit for a minute. I've had this issue while on sense based roms. When I boot into recovey it takes a minute for the menu to actually show up. It's just black screen with the version of amon at the bottom. Don't know why it happens but give it a few minutes and see if it eventually shows up.

Is S-On in the bootloader? If not, reflash the recovery from the bootloader.
I flashed Amon 2.3 from 2.1 and that didn't help. Now I did PC36IMG.zip to stock, unrooted and it seems to work. I will root now.

I think you flashed the recovery image wrong lol. How are you rooting?
It wasn't flashed wrong because the version number changed from 2.1 to 2.3. When I originally rooted, it was during launch time. I'm using unrevoked now and everything is going smooth. I'm nandroiding back to CM7.

Go to www.shipped-roms.com and go to the SUPERSONIC section....choose an RUU to download....I recommend the newest one, unless you have a special reason for something different.....
run the RUU on your PC, (meaning not in your boot loader recovery, or from your SD card.)
If you have a mac...it will take extra steps....but is doable.
You should be able to flash with an RUU and get back to normal...afterwards, head over to www.unrevoked.com and re-root your phone...

okay unrevoked is the best way to do it.
i've seen issues with CM7 losing root... I think it has more to do with ROM Manager and flashing the recovery image wrong. I've actually had it happen. I am working on an app to flash recoveries/roms, and it was working fine, but then i flashed clockwork recovery from rom manager and it turned security back on, disabled usb, and disabled sd... lol.
Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it. I am still not sure what caused the problem, but I went to stock, unrooted and now I'm back rooted and nandroid back to CM7. All is working fine at the moment.

[Q] Can't load Recovery

So I installed that Beats Audio for all Gingerbread phones yesterday night.
Flashed fine and the phone worked fine.
Today I wanted to update to the newest Nightly for CM7 and when I went went into the bootloader and chose Recovery the phone restarted back to the Bootloader screen.
Is there any fix for this?
Thanks

why do you boot into the bootloader first?no multi-boot option?Anyway,it sounds like the CM7 rom you flashed is corrupted,It sounds like you might have to format your sd card and start over,or reload a new recovery from the bootloader. If you had a multi-boot option you might be able to solve this without formatting.
hey,
try doing a factory reset getting rid of any apps you currently have and try using the advanced power menu to boot into recovery if that doesnt work, try re flashing a different recovery. let us know how it goes from there!
Good luck,
Stevo
Just try reflashing the recovery, should solve the problem.

CWM is junk, for one. Switch to Amon Ra
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^°^
What he said. Man, I just finished typing the same advice in a different thread. Lol.
Seems people coming from Samsung devices in particular tend to start with CWM. I'm not speculating on the OP here, just a trend I've noticed as of late.

I used CWM for my initial nandroid, after first rooting with Unrevoked, then flashed Amon. Anyway, as said try re-flashing recovery. Also, FYI, that "all Gingerbread Roms" was just for one device, the article was slightly inaccurate. I flashed the Beats audio zip myself but upon investigating in Roote Explorer saw that none of the files had actually written.
CWM is a great and sometimes better choice for a lot of phones, just not the Evo

I have not been able to get it to work yet.
I have been thinking about Wiping everything and starting from scratch again, but I am afraid that if I wipe I wont be able to get into the recovery and get screwed and not be able to re-flash C-Mod 7.
I will attach a video of wtf my phone is doing.
