So I am at wit's end. I have been using CM for as long as I can remember, and this past week, I thought I would try a TW Rom since there are some issues on CM that I don't really want to deal with anymore. For some reason, Google Play always times out on 3G but will work fine on LTE and WiFi. This happens on 4 TW Roms I have tried. I have searched high and low, and every "solution" I tried never works.
The weird thing is that Play Store will work just fine on 3G on CM. The timeout issue only happens on TW roms. I have even gone back to a rooted stock rom, updated profile, updated PRL, and no luck. Cleared Play Store cache, uninstalled updates, removed Google profile and added another one and no luck. Also tried booting into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, fixed permissions and still nothing.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!
I don't have an answer for your problem. I've not any kind of issue like that unless I'm in a bad signal area. It is obviously slower than 4g or wifi, but no issues. And I've only run TW ROMS.

Ok after more trial and error, the only thing that seems to help temporarily is if I delete the contents (and there is a lot of crap in there) of the host file in /system/etc and replace it with just 127.0.0.1 localhost. After wiping the play store cache, going to recovery and wiping cache and dalvik, the play store seems to work for a bit on 3G. I can then download apps but only for a while. At some point in the day, I go back to having the same timeout issue. Rinse and repeat. I also found out that Hangouts does not send messages either, so my problem isn't only on the play store while on 3G.
The only thing I can think of is that I didn't delete my internal storage when I jumped from AOSP to TW rom. I only do a factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik a few times for good measure. Could there be something in the internal storage that could cause this??

Alright, just went through the process of switching my phone to use EVRC-B and then Voice 13k. I also changed the ACCOLC to 2, and set EVRC-B to Enable.
After I did that, I found out that audio streaming apps (Shoutcast via XiiaLive, and Pandora) were no longer working. XiiaLive would connect, buffer, and then say connection dropped. Pandora just sat there, acting ready to play music, but when I pressed play, nothing happened.
I then tried iHeartRadio, Retro Radio, Cherry Rplayer, StreamFurious, and YouTube. None of them but YouTube worked either. I changed my settings back (EVRC, EVRC-B disabled, ACCOLC to 5) and rebooted multiple times. Still getting the same issue!
Just want to know if anyone's had this problem and knows of a solution before I do a data wipe.
EDIT: Just to confirm, everything works over WiFi. This is JUST with 3G cell connection (I have no 4G to test). Also, I do not believe it's a network issue, as I can listen to some of the same channels on my laptop (DI.fm/SKY.fm for example), and Sprint's pulling down web browsing and YouTube just fine.
Well, did a factory reset from recovery and wiped dalvik cache. Everything is working again.

I found a solution and put it in the EVRC-B thread. Basically, just opening the EPST program causes this. So if you're going to change the settings, you have to do a nandroid backup, change the settings, and restore. So far there's just no way around this bug since Sprint/HTC doesn't care about providing fixes our support to modders or anyone who uses non-default settings/software, even if it's software they gave you.

Wow, this is awesome and applies to my case. Indeed, I accessed EPST to change my Slot Cycle Index every time I flashed so I guess that could have caused the issue.
I spent the better part of yesterday trying to figure this out. I did a backup of all my apps and data via Titanium Backup. Wiped the rom, cache, dalvik cache, reflashed DC, and then ran the restore in Titanium Backup. As each app was reinstalling, I would test the streaming radio. All the apps restored and streaming was still working over 3G. However, as soon as the system data was restored (the last step in the Titanium Backup restore process) and I restarted the system, streaming stopped working over 3G. So I figured it must be some random system setting that is restored and must be causing this.
I repeated the whole procedure again (e.g., backup, wipe, re-flash, restore, etc.). However, this time I backed-up and restored apps via Titanium Backup (no system data) and I used MyBackup to back-up and restore SMS, Call log, and dictionary. Using this method, streaming over 3G is now working.
I'll run a nandroid backup now so I won't run into this issue again. Thanks again for posting back here and closing the loop!
Thought I would add to this. As usual, nothing is consistent. I was just in the data menu changing a bunch of things (EVRC-B, SLC, ACCOLC, and WiMax settings). Rebooted after changes and everything is working great. Streaming Pandora no problem, and the wimax changes fixed the ping-ponging connection.
Ok, guys, here's the deal! After GB update, experienced major issueswith bootlooping, freezing, and, more importantly, crap for 4g/3g service after rooting. I experienced continuous reboots randomly no matter if I was on wi-fi, 4g, both, etc. Not sure if I would've had same issue pre-root since I rooted immediately. Anyway, so wiped phone, cache partition, and davlik cache 3x and applied update once again & have experienced reboots a couple times, but, not continuously for 5+ min. like before. My phone is still slow & freezing some, &, my 4g/3g service seriously sucks still & reflash has had no effect on that. So, here's my questions what should I do about all of the above? Thanks, in advance, and hope I posted in correct section!

Flash a custom rom...

Both stock and custom GB roms seem to have a freezing/reboot issue. It seems to happen when there is a data transfer going on and the phone either is connecting to wifi of leaving an area with wifi. The devs are trying to figure out where it's coming from.
So, I settle into the backseat for a road trip from Toronto to Ottawa, fire up the wifi tether and everything seems good. My transformer connects no problem, but it seems that data isn't going through. Every page I try to load doesn't. So I clear my apns and re add them and nothing. So I do a full wipe (data, cache, dalvik) reinstall osimod and try again. I add my apns and everything works, pages are loading, emails are coming in, etc etc. So, I browse facebook for a minute on my transformer to confirm, then after I restore all my crap in titanium, I'm back to the same lack of data going to my tab.
I'd really like to not have to redo everything manually without titanium backup. Any ideas?
Unfortunately there may be 1 app that is causing you harm and unless you install them 1 by 1 how will you find out which one is causing you the harm.
I have the same problem as the op: tethering doesn't work for me either.
Hello everyone I usually never post on here as I usually search for my issues and fix them but this is something I cant seam to fix.
I tether my new AT&T Galaxy Note 2 to my PC and every 10-20 minuets my computer will loose connection and go to limited or no connectivity. I thought Well maybe there is something wrong with the ROM I am using so I wipe everything and start over fresh with ClearROM ATT 1.2, I checked the MD5 check sum, wiped all data, cache, and dalvik, installed the ROM and got the same problem. I then decided to install SKYNOTE 3.2 and found that it does the same thing there too.
I have tried using WiFi, USB and Blue Tooth. and on all three I will eventually get the same issue. I read around and found that the Sprint version had the same issue and they where able to fix it by disabling location services for wireless and the network optimizer but AT&T doesn't have the network optimizer and disabling the Location Services didn't do anything.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Hello,
I am having a big trouble somwhere since the new Play Store was introduced. Everything was fine earlier, but right now Play Store randomly stops applications on "Starting download...". It happens both on stock and CyanogenMod ROMs. It just looks like it downloads the apps which it wants to. On the other hand it only behaves at home (2mb Wi-Fi) but at work (download rate about 5mb/s) everything works flawless. Also, on packet data everything works fine. Is it problem with my router ? I did not changed any settings for ages, so I dont think so. Or does the Play Store started to "choke" on slower connections? Any advice would be appreciated.
To be clear: I've tried reflashing, clearing caches of play store or download manager, wiping through recovery. Nothing works. I am using NEAK Note2 kernel, but I think it does not matter.
Best Regards.

Looks like you tried everything obvious.
But have you tried just using stock kernel? Just my 2 cents. Ml
