Hello everyone I usually never post on here as I usually search for my issues and fix them but this is something I cant seam to fix.
I tether my new AT&T Galaxy Note 2 to my PC and every 10-20 minuets my computer will loose connection and go to limited or no connectivity. I thought Well maybe there is something wrong with the ROM I am using so I wipe everything and start over fresh with ClearROM ATT 1.2, I checked the MD5 check sum, wiped all data, cache, and dalvik, installed the ROM and got the same problem. I then decided to install SKYNOTE 3.2 and found that it does the same thing there too.
I have tried using WiFi, USB and Blue Tooth. and on all three I will eventually get the same issue. I read around and found that the Sprint version had the same issue and they where able to fix it by disabling location services for wireless and the network optimizer but AT&T doesn't have the network optimizer and disabling the Location Services didn't do anything.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys, i've just received my desire today and been using my current data connection with no problem, except every time i try to open google maps, it comes up with the error "this application requires a data connection". I have updated the firmware to the lastest.
I have searched for this error but the only thing that will come up is about a data connection being dropped when trying to use google maps/gps... except my data connection stays 4 bars the whole time.
thanks, Brandon

Brandon,
I did a hard reset (return to factory settings ) on my Desire today and guess what:
Both my Data problems (no data after use of Wifi and or GPS) are gone !
Tested several times Wifi & GPS , also did a reboot and tested again, all seems working again, no more 3G data problem anymore.
So I guess one of the extra apps I installed caused the 3G Data Connection issue.
I'll reïnstall them one by one to see if I can catch the "guilty" one.
I also hope that problem doesn't return after a while without a cause.
Still not working

I have tried this method. Everything was fine - my phone (rooted Samsung galaxy core duos JB 4.1.2) got faster. But google maps can't connect. I am stuck at the screen where you have to accept the terms and coditions (as it is launched for the first time).
Hope someone has encountered and fixed this error.
I flashed my phone to synergy last week, network access and tethering seemed to be fine. Then my network connevtion started to slow down. I'd get the 1x icon, then the phone would start roaming. This would happen in my home where the connection was always 3 or 4 bars for 3g.
Next i started using the sprint wifi tether app since as part of synergy it worked. Now it no longer works and neither do other tether apps. When i start the tether apps on the evo they seem to work just fine. my acer iconia will connect, attempt to get ip, drop, connect, drop, connect, drop.... An endless loop.
And in addition the sprint tether now tells me i dont have a tether plan (which is true)! Sprint is blocking my phone/preventing tethering somehow?
Any ideas as to how to fix the issue? (besides pay sprint their $30 bucks a month)
Have you tried a reboot? Have you tried clearing cache and dalvik? Have you tried uninstalling and re-install Wireless Tether? Have you called sprint to find out if there is a data outage in your area?
Made sure that you installed the hack for wireless tether using the Sprint app? Tried a different ROM?
Sounds like there is a Verizon antenna near and your Evo is trying to grab the closest sometimes. Try going to settings and check "3G only" instead of "automatic roaming". This was happening to me and after turning roaming off, my phone stays on 3G.
via EVO.

Reboot: yes, multiple times
Cleared dalvik: yes but not cache (how do i clear the cache?)
Reinstall wireless tether: yes, i have both versions 2 & 3
Have i called sprint: no, the network issue started in indianapolis, i am currently in DC
Set roaming to sprint only, done and issues havent changed
the wifi issue is new to my being in dc though the network isue in indianapolis obviously made tethering rather difficult. Of course two different issues though a hell of a coincidence. Still in dc i get 4 bars. Sometimes none and that when i dont move in my hotel.
When i first arrived here I thought i would try and see if 4g was available. I received a weak signal and so thought to try the sprint hotspot with it. It didnt work. Switched off 4g and then tried again. Since that time tethering has not worked.
I've read aboit that wireless hack but there is a debate as to its usefullness, it caused boot issues on some roms which i don't want to tempt here.
I've not yet tried reflashing synergy.... I will at some point but am awaiting a call atm. I backed up my previous android, which was stock sprint 2.1 unrevoked.

Just don't restore the wimax partition from another phone. If you do say goodbye to your 4g.

Wife's evo running mikg 2.41, hacked Sprint hotspot still working great.
Sent from my unrooted OG Evo....
Back up apps using Titanium Backup if you want.
Flash a rooted Sense ROM, based on the Evo (this disqualifies MikG, Director's Cut, Synergy and other Sense 2.1 ROMs, because those are based on the Evo Shift (I've had issues with Shift-based ROMs not reprovisioning data). Update PRL, reboot.
Go into EPST (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode), enter your MSL code (download and use MSL Reader from the Market to get it), Data Profile, hit the menu button and choose restore. Just sit there, your phone will reboot and everything will go back to default. Let it reprovision, but when it says "Updating PRL" hit cancel.
Do a clean wipe, clean flashing of Synergy RLS1 or whatever ROM you want to. Hopefully that will work
@brit -ok.... Am diving into this tonight. First, i am using rom manager, and it offers me some roms to download. Will cyanogenmod 7.0.3 do the trick, does it satisfy your description of a "rooted sense rom based on evo"?
Ok, cleared dalvik and cache. Reinstalled synergy rc 2. Same deal. And now i see the 1x icon... So that happens in both indianapolis and dc (where i am for the week). Will try to dload cm via rom manager if i get 3g back...

Cyanogenmod is not a Sense rom, and technically it's a port. You don't wanna do that. Try downloading Sprint Lovers or a stock-based rom. I would think a 2.2 rom would be fine if you have to. If you can't find one through Rom Manager (people still use that?) download one from here, like the stock odexed 4.24 rom.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Get older Azrael or older Sprint Lovers or older Fresh or stock rooted Froyo. Search through development section for the ROM.
On a side note, I have had issues with ROM Manager and ClockworkMod so I made the switch to AmonRa, no ROM Manager. Learned how to wipe and flash ROMs for myself, and I have had no issues here.

problem resolved....
are there poeple still using rom manager - yup! people like me, who just jumped into flashing their phonesT. in my case i've been happy these past two years with a rooted 2.1
The problem was likley due to two things 1) i didnt wipe data before flashing, 2) the latest iconia update messed up wifi..
so, after wiping everything on the phone and reinstalling synergyi haven't seen the 1x icon appear as of yet. in addition... yeah, a few things look different and titanium no longer force closes... my phone seems better so far.
next i tried a few things on the iconia but i ended up having to do a factory reset (no big deal). Now tethering works on the evo and the iconia is able to connect to to it.
I went to barnes and noble to work and the iconia wouldnt conenct to wifi and thats when i started to suspect the iconia for half of this situation and as it turns out there is a known issue with iconia updates breaking wifi.
thanks to all who posted!!
hi
since yesterday i'm having problems with my wifi connection, every time i turn on the wifi on the phone he checks for connections and for 1 second he can see my wireless network but then i can't connect to them, i tried connect to other networks but the same thing happens, i tried another rom (i'm using miui 2.3 and tried cm9)and the problem continues.
sometimes i can successfully connect to my network but in 5 minutes the connection is lost again.
I had this same thing happen on my phone a little more than a year ago. I tried everything but it didn't fix anything. I had to send it in and get a replacement.
if i change the radio would this do anything?
have you tried a full wipe. I've got this problem at the moment.
I figure either a full wipe will fix it. I can't do this at the moment because there are too many numbers in the phone
Or
The wireless antenna got disconnected when my gf dropped it

i already did a full wipe and installed another rom
the only thing i didn't tried was another radio
Hey guys,
I am having the weirdest issue with my wife's phone. A few weeks ago she started complaining about her data speeds at home. Through some troubleshooting, I noticed that while she was connected to Wifi, she wouldn't get data for a couple minutes, and then she would get it for about 30 seconds before it dropped again, rinse, repeat. Now, it doesn't drop the signal, it still says its connected to my network, but will not load any data whatsoever. Turn off wifi and surf on 3G and its perfect, weird.
She was running stock rooted TW on 4.1.1 with LI3 modem when she started complaining about it out of the blue. I figured she had maybe messed something up so I wiped and flashed CM10.1 along with LJ3 modem. Still the same issue. Now I just tried flashing MA6 and its still doing it.
I'm having her just stick to 3G until I can figure out the issue but I'm stumped and am not finding any fixes online. Anybody else had this issue or know anything I could try before taking it in to the Sprint store?
Re: No Data on Wifi
Reset the router in your house. Complete reset then set the phone up again to the wifi it should do the trick.

I will give that a shot tonight, but I think I have done that within the last week because I was having an unrelated internet issue. I was under the false impression that the modem affects wifi, but that is the kernel, correct? But that changed when I flashed CM10.1 anyway and still no beans. Hopefully a good router reset fixes it.
Unfortunately the router reset didn't work. I'm at a loss but I *really* don't want to take it in to our local Sprint store because they are a bunch of idiots.
Did you update profile and prl lately? Sometimes mine misses the update and then everything is fine when I do it manually.

Just tried, still no beans. Weirdest thing ever. Wifi works for 30 seconds then I get nothing but network connection error everywhere for about 2 minutes, then data comes back. I wonder if its a hardware issue. I just flashed back to stock rooted MA6 + kernel and its still acting up.

Search on google, the programming codes are usually not specific to a phone so its safe to try and use one that you see somewhere
And even if it is specific to a certain phone, then it just wont work when you dial it, no problems come about as a result of trying them

FIXED!
I went poking around and found that my wife's phone and my desktop PC were using the same IP address. Renewed my desktop PC's IP address and everything is perfect!

So I'm noticing a strange issue with wireless connection with mobile data. For a few days my phone was disconnected since I'm on Virgin mobile and didn't renew my account on time . During those few days I had no trouble connecting to my home WiFi. After adding funds and reconnecting my phone I'm currently unable to connect to my home WiFi network. I've tried restarting my phone, power cycling my router, disabling Connection Optimizer, soft resetting my phone, and forgetting and reconnecting to my network; all to no avail. When scanning for networks I'm able to connect but I get the message "Authencation error occurred".
I'm at the end of my rope since all I could find from google is just general troubleshooting tips that don't help at all.
As for my phone itself, I'm currently rooted, using stock TouchWiz (android 4.1.2) and Garwynn kernel 3.0.74 with Agats recovery. I also have Xposed Framework installed with a few tweaks added, but even after disabling them and removing the Xposed Framework completely the issue still persists. Has anyone else had similar issues or any idea what's going on?

Make a nandroid and a backup on you're PC.. Dirty flash ROM..if it boot loops or doesn't fix WiFi.. Restore backup.. If that doesn't fix.. A clean install should do the trick....if you have a backup already just use it.. Just a thought, as I've never had/seen this issue. Others my have better advice.. Hope this helped
I've already restored from a backup from when I had WiFi with no success. I really don't want to reflash unless there's no other way. I'll keep digging around on google and the forums and hopefully I can get this fixed without resorting to that
