Hello guys, since today i also got a Huawei Ascend P6 and i really like it!
Ofc first thing was to root and install another launcher (Apex) and all the other customisation which was needed.
But now i'm stuck, im trying to make the background colour of the onscreen Menu buttons black but cant find anything decent on the net.
Anyone tried it already or has found something which doesnt require major coding skills?
regards
Wow that's a good idea.
Unfortunately I can't help you.
But the gray color is very irritating indeed especially when i want to use tube mate on full screen. That doesn't go off...

The easiest way the change the color of the nav bar is to install a different navbar from the playstore and disable the stock one (qemu.hw.mainkeys=1)

Hi could please elaborate on this procedure. Thank you!
Nevermind. I edited the build.prop.
On the other hand, I'm using GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys for awhile now, and looks like that's what this is all about. I want to change the Huawei navbar to black permanently, and instead of just hiding it.
Thanks again.

I want nothing just the symbols and no grey or black background, it just looks plain ugly. Why Huawei does this don't know ...
Make a list of addition, changes or fixes to be done on the Emotion UI 1.6 and send it to here:https://www.facebook.com/Huaweiemui
and hopefully they would forward it and make changes in the upgrade. :cyclops:
I also want to have a transparent soft keys background when i use another launcher.I don't want to be able to hide the soft keys bar.I just want it to be transparent like in the stock launcher.No luck so far.

I want the same....but don't find solutions.
The only method for this,is installing xposed with which can quit the default navbar and put one different (transparent,more small,etc...).....but if you do this disables the modifications on status bar of your current theme.
yes
I rooted my phone only because of this, i installed xposed apk but when i try to install/update it told me that there is a something missing ( "exec" if i remember well )

After install xposed, you must install the app "xblast" ...into xposed there are several modules and one of these is xblast which change navbar and more.
Can someone tell me if my following thought is wrong?
So when we use stock launcher the system uses a transparent soft keys background. When we change the launcher ( Nova for example ) the system is giving the command to use a gray background.
1) Is this grey background a png picture or a color code?
2) If it is a grey png where it's located in the system?
3) If it's a grey png and if i am rooted , can i just find the grey png and replace it with a transparent png with the same dimensions?
4) If the grey background is a color code in which xml file is located in the system?
5) If it's a color code can i just replace the code with a code for transparent color?

As for the notification bar, what rom are you running? It might have just not stuck.
Just a suggestion, please update the Instruction if this requires De-odexed ROM. Some people may load it and get a boot loop.
Thank for the work.

Edit: I'm not having any issue with fonts. Settings.apk, Torch.apk, & framework-res.apk won't stick at all though, I'm not sure.
I ended up redownloading the zip, framework installed then, but still running into odd issues with the font, stands out the most with application titles. Terminal emulator, sound recorder, and rom manager each have a series of squares in the title as an example.

1) Place the inspira.xml from the OP in /sdcard/CMTheme/
2) You need to go into Settings> CM Settings> User Interface> Tweaks Extras> Select a theme, and then select inspira from there.
Status bar, not notification pull down. I've already gotten the notification working, as it was just a standard png edit.
Anyway, is there anyone that can give an explanation on how I can get my status bar to be transparent? I've already gotten the proper image from system/app/SystemUI.apk. I edited it and saved it properly for transparency. Where I'm getting stuck is the whole draw 9 thing, since the image is a ".9.png" file. I've already opened the png in the draw 9 patch tool in the SDK, but I'm just totally stuck at this point.
I sort of understand the deal with drawing black lines on the right and the bottom for the content areas, then the two dots on the top and left for the stretchable areas. But after I save the file, I'm still seeing the drawn black lines in the image. Am I not doing something right? After I get that sorted, how do I go about resigning the apk to push it to my device?
You'll need to run Eclipse, this tutorial helped me with draw nines. Once you put them thru Eclipse, the lines will disappear. Then you can extract them from the unsigned apk like the video states, use 7zip to put the images back into your framework-res.apk or whatever without having to resign anything.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm editing the right file. I just did a test and made it completely red and it worked. But, for some reason transparency is not working at all, it just keeps appearing solid black.

The actual image is in SystemUI.apk. But it won't render transparent without an xml our services.jar hack. It's a pain in the ass. Also if you actually make it transparent you are going to have problems with text and image stacking when you pull down down notifications. I just replace the image in SystemUI.apk with a 480x38 top part of my wallpaper.

Hi, I was never a big fan of all-blue themes, so I started to modify SystemUI.apk, basically I took this original mod and started replacing some icons to my liking.
As you can see I only replaced alarm icon and battery icons so far, but I think I will replace wifi and the other signal icons too. Also trying to find a better vibrate mode icon. I might throw in a better bluetooth icon too.
Update: I have now replaced vibrate, bluetooth, airplane and silent mode icons, as well as status bar.
Also, I didn't like the standard grey Gmail notification icon, so replaced it.
For this, you simply need to push modified Gmail.apk to System/App folder, then restart phone, do not try to install. It is version 4.0.1-228551. An update from Market will of course replace this and grey icon will be back.

Attached is the ZIP file. It should be flashed with CWM Recovery. I'm not responsible for any damage, so please do a backup first
I have tested this only on THIS 06 Dec Ir5: MCR ROM.
galaxynexusITL41F_BatteryMod.zip - this is original UI (legacy menu button on the right hand side when needed)
ITL41F_BatteryModUIPatches.zip - includes search and menu buttons on both sides add on by paulobrien.
Icons I have used:
EDIT:
Because of the Market promotion, I buy and install a lot of apps these days and didn't like that grey icon either.
Made one myself, so it's not the greatest, but I'll share anyway. If you have a better one, please share and I will replace if it's nice.
You need to move the attached Market app into /System/App folder and restart phone.
Very nice,please add file.
It's uploaded now. I have flashed this myself and so far all is good.
Working great on Android Revolution 1.3.1.
Thank you very much!
Very nice keep up the good work I much prefer the colourful icons than stock ones.
If possible can you make an alternate version which includes pauls search and both sides menu buttons like you did in your other thread as you already know that by installing this mod takes them back to the stock soft buttons (and I dont like them lol) .
Mark.
It's now uploaded, please give it a try, but maybe keep the old one on the phone just in case, if something goes wrong you would simply flash the old one back.
I didn't try this one because I don't like the search button nor options on both sides

I have no idea unfortunately. I took these icons from my collection of custom ROMs which I've been using on my previous phones. I usually take the icons I like and build a theme for myself.
Now messing with status bar... took this from one of the themes I used to use on my SGS2. Add this in for download or not?

No, you can click on THIS link in my first post and it will link to the modified ROM page. I don't think it would work on stock ROM, I think you need deodexed ROM, but again, I can be wrong.
I didn't like the standard grey Gmail notification icon, so replaced it with this one:
I can post modified Gmail.apk if someone is interested. Will also add the icon to the list on first post.
Always interested in a bit of colour, like yourself I also don't like the grey icons.
If you post up the apk in the 1st post is it just a case of flashing it over the battery / blue status bar without affecting them?
Also, KUDOS on the blue status bar! Looks awesome! I can see my phone being full of your add ons!
Added modified Gmail.apk and instructions.
So I've been trying something, but with no success at all... maybe someone who knows his way around xmls better can help me...
I'm using CheckROM RevoHD v4 , and Vert's ICS Domination theme over it. What i would really like is to have a transparent statusbar...
What I tried so far :
- extracted SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk from CheckROM zip and then
used zdune's patcher to get flashable zips.
This obviously didn't work because the apks currently in my rom are modified by
Vert's theming
- So i used rootBrowser to get those two files from the system folder on my
phone since obviously they are the updated ones, so i tried to patch those two
but to no avail , it didn't work
In both cases when i flash it i completely lose the status bar and the notifications , i.e. no way to open them.
Zdune's patcher may only work with CM7 based roms , I'm not sure if it even works with TW Roms at all.
So if anyone knows what I may be missing , or knows another way I can get it transparent , please tell me. I'm really not quitting until i get it the way i want.
Edit : Opened a thread because no-one replied on my post in Vert's theme thread

You can edit the statusbar.XML to point to a PNG. That's the easy part and offcourse the smali edit to make it transparent.
You can then use adw launcher and remove the wallpaper hack to make the statusbar transparent. But it does not work as expected, atleast for me. There is also the problem of notifications overlapping over the date.
In miui when you drop down the notification bar, the status bar does not stay transparent anymore. It points to another png.

If I change anything I usually delete the public.xml so it re generates, I think I know where I went wrong but I have been too busy to try again, maybe try later when I get a spare hour.
This what i mean
stock themed statusbar
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Semi transparent statusbar
Problem when notification bar is dropped down ( don't bother abt date background. I forgot to change it to fully transparent. See overlap )

Would one of you rooted G3 users mind giving the Softkeyz app a try to change their nav bar buttons?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.janis605.softkeyz&hl=en
While I impatienly wait for my pre-ordered G3 to arrive, I'm trying to build a list of the tweaks I want to make to it immediately. One of the critical ones is to change the stock nav bar icons to the Android "L" nav bar icons. They look great on the Nexus 5 and I want to see if that Softkeyz app works in changing them on the G3 as well.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Here are the Android "L" nav bar icons, in case you are wondering...

g3 tweakbox has that option and is a much more guaranteed working tool for g3
Softkey Z doesn't work.
Tried it and it doesn't work.
And also I can't find option to change icons in the g3 toolsbox.

If you go to the second post in the tweakbox thread it tells you how to do it and gives you 2 links for some to download.
FAQ:
How can i install and use Navigation Bar Themes ?
1)Download the themes
* HERE Thanks to @AyDee
* HERE Thanks to @slewi
2)Install them ( they are apk files)
3)Open System Settings------------->islay------->Front Touch Buttons-------------->Color and choose your theme
4)Done
How can i remove the AM/PM from the clock on the status bar ?
You have to use a custom html style to remove it:
1)Theme Tweaks----------->StatusBar--------------->Clock Style------------>Custom HTML Style
2)Then click on custom HTML format and enter without quotes:
----------------"hh:mm" (if you want 12h)
----------------"kk:mm" (if you want 24h)
Read other patterns you can use here

Thanks for all the info guys. After doing some more reading this morning/last night it looks like I'll be using Tweakbox to make any adjustments.
I use Softkeyz on my Nexus 5 right now and love it. Has anyone contacted the developer about getting it to work with the G3?
Nevermind, I contacted the developer janis605 and linked this thread.
Hey there,
SoftKeyZ and all the button packs were designed to work with the AOSP implementation of the SoftKeys. LG modded theirs *a lot* and finally they aren't compatible anymore at all. LG uses like three images for each button in different situations and is just completly different from stock Google code.
BTW in case you are asking: all mods available for the G3 that allow to change the Nav Buttons probably just change the way the SoftKeys are handled to the AOSP way to work around LG's stuff.
Samsung and LG's soft buttons won't work with SoftKeyZ. It's like asking someone to change the wheels of a boat, just because a boat is also used for transportation.
The image I've attached shows that LG is doing things ( a bit :silly: ) more complicated then it has to be (AOSP stuff)
... and that's only the home button.
Wow, thanks for the quick reply to my PM. I hope there's something we can do in the long run, or at least once this thing has some roms on it. I L O V E Softkeyz.

Yep. That's my plan as soon as the T-Mobile variant gets root.
I have a G3 D855 I have root and changed the nav buttons via xposed installer there's a mod that changes them to L style.

Nevigaton can be change with other xpose module
