I have been addicted to flashing new ROMs almost every other day. On moving to SGS4, I started searching for a flashable zip that will do an extensive wiping for me without bothering me with wipe Data, wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik etc.
I thought I will make one for myself. now that I have made and used it, I want to share it with others.
1.) Megwipe
Firstly u need to understand What is megawipe
Megawipe: Use this zip to completely format your phone. It will delete everything in your phone and will bring it to bare bones. After it install any ROM for a fresh experience without any conflicts with in the frame work.It deletes the Data, Cache, System and Preload partitions of your internal memory. So Beware!

PhilZ Touch recovery has similair option but i am not using it now, so this will be nice cos i was missing that feature...
I know it doesnt wipe ext SD card (at least hope so), but you should write that in your description, because "It will delete everything in your phone and will bring it to bare bones" "Megawipe" blabla sounds a bit scarry

same way you update all roms. If this is your first time then just put new rom and gapps on sdcard and flash as normal. Wipe cache and davlik if you like. No need to wipe all unless you want to.. these are all user preferences and not mandatory for the rom to work correctly. Any issues do a complete wipe with Caulkins format all and then flash rom and gapps. Please remember that with AOSP you must flash gapps after flashing rom every time.
Hope that helped you..
I always wipe every time and don't have one off issues.

You dont have to wipe all just cache/davlik when upgrading... You dont have too but if you want too go right ahead. Just know you will have to reinstall software and information again I believe

Hi,
I just rooted my HTC Desire HD, and installed a custom ROM (Android Revolution HD 6.3.2). After starting up the phone, I tried to change the skin on the phone (I don't like the original skin) but every time I press the Skin-button (Personalize -> Skin) I get the error message; Sorry! The application Skin Picker (process com.htc.skinpicker) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any idea of how to fix this?
thank you in advance.
You can try fixing the permissions. If you have 4ext recovery I believe it has an option or you can download rom manager. Either one might fix it.

Thx..

no you shouldn't because sometimes problem happens from restoring files with titanium and also not full wipe when installing the ROM or maybe bad flash...
Did u full wipe before install or checked the MD5 SUM of the rom?because few weeks ago i just installed 6.3.2 without any probs with it

I don't think I did a full wipe ... that might be it.. I just followed what was said in this tutorial http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/ and renamed the zip "update.zip" and went into recovery mode -> install update from SDcard -> install update.zip.
... I hope there is another way than wipe it ... don't want to loose all my contacts...

For contact u can sync it to google account and also can export it to sdcard(there is an option in contact app)..so after full wipe u can restore it from sd card..

Everything listed below is the work of Zoot1. He created the original wipe script for the N7100 and I just modified it for the Sprint Variant SPH-L900. Some have asked for it, so here it is. I take no responsibility if you brick it nor will I support this script! It's simple enough!
Original Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983489
zoot1's original thread said:
There are 4 Scripts:
1) MegaWipe
2) SuperWipe
3) SimpleWipe
4) Factory Reset
All 4 serve different purposes.
Megawipe: Use this zip to completely format your phone. It will delete everything in your phone and will bring it to bare bones. After it install any ROM for a fresh experience without any conflicts with in the frame work. It deletes the Data, Cache, System and Preload partitions of your internal memory. So Beware!
SuperWipe: This is a simple factory reset and you can use it to move from one ROM to another without bothering about framework conflicts. It deletes the Data Folders and Cache partitions of your internal memory. Will not affect the Internal SD card.
Factory Reset: Use it to do a Factory Reset, which wipes your Data partition, Cache Partition and Dalvik Cache. It will delete everything on your Internal SDcard.
SimpleWipe: A simple wipe is as the name suggests a Simple Cache and Dalvik wipe. You can use it to clear the said partitions before updating to a newer version of your ROM. Also, You can use it before you have flash a new ROM.
Also, I have read questions on how to completely wipe the phone..the MegaWipe zip will do it for you..just make sure you have a ROM to install on the ExtSdcard when you use it..

A bit confused as you say:
Requirements: You need to have
1. TWRP Recovery installed
How to use:
Just copy the required zip to your External SDcard and reboot into CWM recovery. Install the zip and you are good to go!
So can you use either recovery or just one or the other?
And a question, will this work with the GS3?

Hello
Is there a variant of this for the Sprint Galaxy S3/III SPH-L710 or do you know where I can find it? If not, can another variant work?
i'm bored of CM rom 'cause 4.4 is not ready yet and i prefer 4.3 stock vs CM based, so i will flash the stock one... how i... or what i must uncheck to prevent delete my files.. i haven't SD card now.. =/
so... i must....
thanks for your help...
If you're on any CM based rom and want to go back to Stock (especially to an earlier Android version) you need to wipe everything in order to work correctly.
Flash via flashtool and just leave everything checked as is.

If you backed up using cwm, only the app "Rom manager" will allow you to see your backups. And you are only able to locate and transfer them to your PC if you have the paid version of Rom Manager. If you want to go back to stock using flashtool, unfortunately you will lose your files as a SD card wipe is mandatory thru flash tool.
