I have a HTC Desire that I bought in Canada. Now I am living in Korea, and want to use the same phone here. I have unlocked the phone using the HTC Desire SIM-Unlock Utility and got a SIM card from SK Telecom. The phone IMEI number has been registered with SK Telecom. so it should be allowed to connect.
I was running Cyanogen Mod 7, but the phone could not find the network. Then I ran RUU to reset the phone back to the original state, but still no luck with finding a network.
Any ideas?
Also worth noting that the SIM card works fine on my girlfriends phone, and her SIM card on my phone has the same problems.

I believe it is the GSM model. When I HBOOT the phone, it comes up with "BRAVO" instead of "BRAVOC". I also have an option to select GSM or WCDMA in the Network Settings menu.

Nah, that won't help you. You see, the cell towers use different frequencies depending on the area (continents). I think S.Korea uses 2100 MHZ and Canada 800/1900 MHZ

Does that mean the phone will not work at all in Korea, or that I have to make some updates in order to make it work?

I've looked into it, and it looks like I'm out of luck. HTC Desire for North America doesn't seem to cover 2100 MHZ.
Thanks for your help.
I'm wondering if anyone here has a D855 variant of the G3 in Canada yet? In theory it looks like it supports the 2600 band for LTE - can anyone confirm?

If you'r still looking for an answer, look here
If you have already bought, plz share your experience on network compatibility.
Ok, I just noticed your signature.. seems you went the T-Mobile route. Good call, supports everything. How much did it cost?

Can you tell me the country you live in.
This is needed because your phone might not support the 4G frequencies used in your country.

thanks, im in the Philippines, not really coz i do have a pocket wifi which suppports LTE and im having no problems with it. it's just that the phone is not picking up
i tried to do some research and found that my model SHV.. caters 1800 and 850 band for LTE, Smart telecom does cater 2100 and 1800, so that means that even if the phone doesnt support 2100, i should be able to get LTE through 1800 band..
thank you

Hello, I have a LG G3 D855 SEA V20c running 5.0. I'm looking for permanent fix for LTE. I'm located in Montreal, Canada running on the Rogers network. I recently rooted the phone . I'm looking for suggestions on how to best achieve this.
I have tried the 3845#*855# method but it has to be redone whenever the phone restarts also you get limited 4G coverage with this phone variant
Thanks,
John

Im just trying to help and apologize if you have already done this but i believe Rogers uses a slightly different apn setting for lte. I havent been with the carrier for over a year now so make sure you got the right settings! If it isnt that then im guessing you are referring to the difference in cellular bands. I do know that USA carriers use a different lte band than us canadians and that for the note 3 devices there was a way to unlock the qualcom chip to enable it but i have not seen such things for the g3 as of yet. Hope i helped:good:

Please check the signals that the 4G band for Rodgers runs on
Sometimes the D855 international variant does not include the signal band that LTE runs on

So do you get lte sometimes? If so it may just be Rogers garbage lte coverage.

My note 2 get's excellent LTE coverage. I think I will flash it with the stock HK rom, I think I will have better LTE control and hopefully better coverage.
