[Q] Upgrading CWM

Hi
Right now I have Clockwork 2 point something or other. I feel like trying out a new ROM and now they are all saying to use Clockwork 3.
How would I go about upgrading it?
Thanks guys .
Try installing "Rom Manager" from market. Then use it to flash latest clockwork recovery.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
or, alternatively you can do it manually, but ENG S-OFF is needed .... UPDATE CWM LINK
Thanks guys. The ROM manager unfortunately only has 3.0.2.6 as the latest and its at 3.2 now so I just used CodeNameUnknown's method. Worked like a charm! Thanks.
FYI for future reference, If you look at the last option in Rom manager at the bottom (all clockworkmod recoveries). You will see the older recovery options available to install
Either way have fun

Why is there a version difference?
I thought that rom manager and cwm are from the same developer.
Is 3.2 beta and 3.0.2.6 stable?
Oops ignore my reply I misdeeds your question.
Yeah I thought 3.2 was beta also ... Hmm if so I will stick with stable when flashing ROMs but that's my choice
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Im pretty sure 3.2 isnt beta. I read that ROM Manager just hasnt been updated with the latest version.

Koush doesn't always compile the latest CWR's for all devices so it's more of an unofficial version, But beware if you install anything newer than 3.0.2.6 Rom Manager will report it as 3.0.2.6 as it doesn't register the unofficial clockwork versions although they will work fine.

Anybody try out the touch cwm recovery?

The latest rom update for rom manager says touch recovery is available for our phones. Anyone test it out yet?

Yes i did. It is free to download from the cwm website (manual install)or a paid app on market which can be installed via rom manager.
Personally i did not like it very much. it is the same old recovery (cyan blue color), just with 1 point bigger font and extra (double) line spacing for those with fat fingers.
Also with the original recovery you had larger text space to read the logs, which is now gone thanks to the line spacing. and there is no scrolling back to go up and read the logs.
i am planning to stick to the old recovery (original green one). Its a very personal choice though
HTC Desire User.
Does anybody have a link for our phones? I can't find the touch recovery for our phone.

Not available for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Droid 3 yet. I guess I don't need it for the Droid 3. I want to get the Droid 4 as soon as it comes out. Waiting.

You need stock recovery not cwm
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
I came here with the same issue, the update today wouldn't apply (rooted, stock, cwm touch).
I now know the stock recovery is required after the last post.
my next question now is...can I revert to the stock recovery until I can install the update, and if so would that be the 'recovery.img' that is in the folder with the full backup of my stock ROM?
And if that's the case, do I fastboot flash that as I did to install cwm?
If not, how do I revert to stock recovery?
Thanks.
*EDIT* - NVM I found the information myself here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705484
Not available for my HTC One V, completely stock. Its on 2.24.720.1. How to update the ota update?

[Q] ClockWord version ??

Yo guys!
HTC wildfire here, rooted s-off 1.01 BUT without clockwork recovery. Which version is best for this phone (most recent?) and would i just flash it through fastboot?
Cheers
EDIT: Also if someone could recommend a nice stable ROM it'd be greatley apreciated
Most recent cwm is 6. Look in the development section. However the best mod I would suggest is cmw5 because it is more stable. The most stable room is either a sense rom or cm 7. It is your preference. Do you prefer gb or sense froyo.

cwm 4.0.1.4
rom: cm 7 nightly

A nice ics rom that you should try, aokp v5 light, miui v4 (2.5) and cm7.It change your wildfire interface.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
aokp light has some bugs, but runs quite smooth, as for the cmw, 6 is the most stable.
there are a lot people who has issues when they are installing rom via cwm6. in wildfire's case, newer thing, is not always better thing. nowadays android gets more and more updated so also root stuff do and wildfire often can't handle those new things. personally i use cwm 3.0.2.8 since i have rooted my phone and i have no issues with it at all. even roms which have aroma.installer included work great
