Screencast NOT requesting superuser access!? - Samsung Captivate Glide

Hey guys, this has been bugging me all day. I recently got an app called Screencast Screen Recorder. It requires root access, yet when I launch it, it doesn't ask for access, and the record button is grayed out, saying "waiting for service"
Any ideas?
Running stock ics 4.0.4 with stock kernel and Superuser app.

Screencast doesn't work on tegra 2 devices

Google movie rental app

Anyone rooted try the google video app after market music update? It says rentals are not available because you're phone appears rooted
They told us it wouldnt work if we were rooted from the start.

I missed that i guess.. Thanks for the info.

Most of the root-friendly APKs I've tried don't allow you to pin videos (ie save them to your device). I started using "temp root remover" from the market instead. It basically makes your phone look unrooted, allowing the video app to run like normal.
I like it because I just use Google video from the market and i can get all of the features from it. It is only a minor annoyance to run the root remover first- not really a big deal for me. Root remover doesn't require a reboot or anything so it's quick.
Anyway, it is another option.

[Q] Mock Un-Rooted

Hi,
A number of apps around at the moment will not run on my device as its rooted. When I start the app it comes up with 'Your phone is rooted and you cannot use this app on a rooted phone'
Is it possible to temperately mock my device to deem unrooted? or trick the app to make it think the phone is unrooted?
OTA Rootkeeper lets you temporarily unroot your phone
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper
What these apps search for is the su binary...so if you rename it the apps will run fine.

I have never come across apps that won't run on rooted phones?? Which ones are they?

"Must haves" on your newly rooted xt907

Hi guys I opened this thread up to share some of my top favorite rooted applications. Many experienced users will know what most of these are but some may be new, and of course this is a great place to begin for inexperienced root users. I'm not going to go into crazy detail about all of them but I'm hoping that others will post, comment, and share their findings as well. Take a look.
Avast! - advanced mobile security that gives you virus scan, theft protection, firewall, text/call block, and more!
Adfree- self explanatory. One of the best ad blockers for your browser in the market.
Airdroid- this is my personal favorite. Simply run the app, follow the quick instructions and BOOM you are managing all your own files from your phone both internal and external on your regular desktop computers or laptops. Its super easy to use and a must have.
Cachemate- clears cache with a click of a button.
My backup (root edition) - serves just like titanium backup. Easily backup your apks and data or just apks alone. Also includes photos/videos/music. Reason why I prefer this is because I used to use titanium mainly for freezing and backing up but ics/jb both have the "disable" option now.
Quickboot- quickly boot into recovery/reboot/power off
Root browser- arguably the best file explorer/manager out there. Pretty fast r/w speeds.
Root call blocker- not only can you manually enter the numbers you want blocked but this is one of the first apps I found where your phone won't even ring whatsoever.
SD booster- boost SD card speed. Don't know too much about it but was told from a friend to set the speed to 2048kb for optimization.
Terminal emulator- the "command prompt" of android.
Undelete- ever accidently delete a file and get really mad? Simply run this app and snatch it back!
Voodoo ota- copies your superuser binaries and allows you to keep root after an ota update (going to come in handy once the official jb comes through )
Hope you guys enjoy these apps. Obviously not responsible for anything that these do to your device. Please comment and also share your findings ! Thank you

I am using Grrenify and Seeder. From "hacktools" Faceniff and wi-fi kill.
greenify is great.
my recommendations are Android Firewall, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup.
Android Firewall is great in that it blocks internet (WiFi/mobile data/both) to apps that you specify. this is great for blocking ads for those that want to play games that do not require a data connection.
As this thread is about root apps I thought I'd ask here rather then start a new thread.... has anyone found a screen recorder that actually works on the M? I've tried SRC and screencast with no luck...even a method that requires me to connect it to the PC would be great....

sorry I couldn't help.

[Q] How to autostart Skype (rooted)

I need Skype running all the time, however I often forget to restart it after a reboot. I am hoping someone can show me a way to autostart an application on JB. My phone is fully rooted with custom recovery. I'd rather edit the startup file than have to download an app (if such a solution is possible on android). An app called Skype Boot on the play store works only 50% of the time.
Thanks in advance
Try adding it via rom toolbox.

I tried that, but all I can seem to do is autostart or disable Skype 'receivers' (I'm not sure what those are). By default the Skype receivers were autostarting anyway.
Try tasker.

[Q] how to stop autostarting app

Hi,
Anybody can help me? My battery is getting crazy drained from unwanted autostarting app, especially Chinese ones.
I thought it was too easy using just the auto start app manager in the phone settings.
I successfully rooted (double checked with root checker) using the guide found in this same forum than I tried different third party autostart app manager but all without success
After granting SU permission the most of the app says that the procedure is successful but just seconds after the apps I disabled are already back in the running app list.
The weirdest thing happens with Clean master, after granting permission and while is working it tells me that the app itself couldn't succeed and the only thing that suggests is to grant permission in the SU app that obviously has already.
What can it be the problem?

I'm not sure, I'm not using such apps yet. Are these apps lollipop compatibles?
BTW I've checked one thing on the m9+, slightly related, that /system modifications stick or not with the default kernels we have, and luckily the Write protection on an unlocked device is not present. So we don't need write protection cracking kernel module like on m9. I've tested this with AdWay rooted app, and it modified the /system/etc/hosts file and it sticks after reboot.

I downloaded all of them from the play store or the app market already installed in the phone so I guess they all are…
Didn't check In the specifications though…
I'm using Ad block plus and that seems to work properly without problems

Have you tried Greenify? Lots of people swear by it, though it works best in conjunction with Xposed because then you can hibernate badly behaving system apps.

I tried after your suggestion and seems to work
until I use one of the apps and then it wakes up again all the others (like I am using an app to shop online and it awakes music app, weibo, a Chinese taxi booking app and baidu maps)
Proper Chinese style haha
I'm afraid that exposed is Not gonna work properly at the Moment because I got an error message that says that they don't have (yet) a version compatible with SDK 21 or the phone processor architecture…
Thanks!

Your answer is actually in the question you pose.
Download Autostarts and kill off the apps criteria so that it doesn't start up.
Been using that app for years now, it's superb https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts

There is an alpha that works fine on the M9. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-5-1-successfully-t3074586
You need the sdk21-arm64 zip to install the framework, then the Xposed for Lollipop "installer" (which doesn't actually install anything, just manages he modules).
This will let you greenify system apps, which appears to be your problem. Greenify will complain if you try to do it, but it should be fine.
