I need Skype running all the time, however I often forget to restart it after a reboot. I am hoping someone can show me a way to autostart an application on JB. My phone is fully rooted with custom recovery. I'd rather edit the startup file than have to download an app (if such a solution is possible on android). An app called Skype Boot on the play store works only 50% of the time.
Thanks in advance
Try adding it via rom toolbox.

I tried that, but all I can seem to do is autostart or disable Skype 'receivers' (I'm not sure what those are). By default the Skype receivers were autostarting anyway.
Try tasker.

So, I am running DocRom_V9.1.4_XWJS3 with speedmod-k13a-500hz and I have this problem with some of my apps. They return to defaults after I force close them and when I re-initiate them, they act like first time running... For example, Poweramp full will forget the theme, the eq and any other setting I chose and start with the "thank you for purchasing..." dialog.
Same happens with yahoo messenger.
Anybody got an idea why this happens?

I have had this problem multiple times. Would you mind sharing how you fixed it?
I'm on Darky's 9.2 and having this issue ever since I installed it. It's pretty unnerving, specially because the apps that reset themselves are YouTube, AppBrain, Zedge and a few others...
Please share your solution.
Delete the folder of bugged apps stored in dbdata/databases then reboot.
Use root explorer btw

Anyone rooted try the google video app after market music update? It says rentals are not available because you're phone appears rooted
They told us it wouldnt work if we were rooted from the start.

Worked for me! Thanks for sharing

Most of the root-friendly APKs I've tried don't allow you to pin videos (ie save them to your device). I started using "temp root remover" from the market instead. It basically makes your phone look unrooted, allowing the video app to run like normal.
I like it because I just use Google video from the market and i can get all of the features from it. It is only a minor annoyance to run the root remover first- not really a big deal for me. Root remover doesn't require a reboot or anything so it's quick.
Anyway, it is another option.

Is anyone else no longer able to set timers or alarms using google Now?
For example if I say...
"Set a timer for 10 minutes"
"wake me up in a hour"
"Set a alarm for 10:30 am"
Google Now will search the internet for that phase. Before it would actually set a alarm in the clock application. The clock application also is no longer listed in the "searchable applications" list in google now.
I was missing ALL voice commands untill I reinstalled the Google Search application, but it only re-enabled most of them.
Is there a way I can get back the missing voice commands without doing a device reset?
It's working perfectly fine for me. Maybe try uninstalling and then re downloading it.

What are all of the applications tied to google now? Cause I already tried clearing the cache and reinstalling the "google search" application.
I dunno. I'm sure you can find that info online somewhere, but I was able to set an alarm, open calculator and play a song via Now. Are you sure you've got the correct version of gapps installed?

I believe so, all apps are up to date in the play store. I tried doing a factory reset and the problem persists. So it's either a kernel issue or it is something on Google's end. Is it possible for stuff to go wrong in the kernel on a non-rooted device?
I am on the stock at&t jelly bean rom. By the way.
Naw, nothing should really ever "break" on the stock image. I dunno what to tell ya unless it's something to do with the android version. Did the things you're asking about ever work?

Do you use any adblock app?
Which notifications could you receive from games?
I don't have any push notification from the game and I do not install the adblock.

OK but why do you want to receive notifications from games???
It is important to have the push notification from the game as I am not always stay with the game and I want to stick with what is happening inside the game.

Well you never used AirPush Detector app for example or another one? Do you use malwares protection as LBE Security manager, Pdroid...?
Maybe you could check the settins app or clear data of the game.
I haven't tried the apps you said. But I did clear the data and re-start the game again, with no luck, still not work.
Now, I found out that it was the server problem. I can play the same game from other producer and it works fine.

You maybe un-checked the notification the time you install the game.
Try to browse the game again from the store and check the notification checkbox.
And also go to app setting of your phone and open the settings of the game and check the notification checkbox.
Btw, this notifications can drain more power to your battery. If you have many application which you rarely use I suggest to uncheck its notification. I got this battery problem before with my GN2.
So for a little while now I've noticed Google now is no longer doing the things it use to:
1. It use to notify me how many minutes home is from my current location. It no longer does.
2. It use to notify me how many minutes an appointment was and when I should leave to be on time. It no longer does
3. Listen to/play <song title> use to play music on my device or YouTube. This no longer works.
Anybody know why these stopped working?
I'm on stock (Rogers ) ROM with all apps up to date.

Just an idea, maybe you did this but if not its worth a try. Go into settings/application manager/google and hit force stop. Now clear cache, data, and defaults. Now hit uninstall updates, and when done re-install the updates and run app. This should give you a fresh start I believe and this could allow you to set all your options over and give you the origional operation you had before. Im not a pro so I cant guarentee this but it cant hurt, its not a dangerous operation anyway. Good luck!
