After updating to 4.1.2, I stupidly uninstalled the Google Calendar Storage from my phone's operating system. Is there a way for me to go back to 4.1.1 or do I need to un-root, and install the stock ROM and start over?
To make matters worse I failed to back-up the phone after the update.
OK, I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004650&page=41 and re-flashed to the ATT stock rooted ROM.
Everything went well, however it is stuck on the Samsung reboot screen and I can't access anything else in the phone or even turn it off, unless I pull the battery, after re-installing the battery it still hangs up on the Samsung screen. I was able to get back into download mode and try the process again with the same results. Any ideas? or is it a brick?
Got er back! tried the following;
1. Press and hold: Volume up + center "home" button + power
2. Once you see the Galaxy note 2 logo, let go of power, but KEEP holding Volume up + center "home" button until you boot into the Android system recovery (3e) menu
3. Select "wipe data/factory reset" (press power button to select item and volume to move up and down)
4. Select "wipe cache partition"
5. Once all that is done, select reboot system now.

My friend's Desire can't reboot/power off properly it just hangs and he have to remove the battery.
I think it's because the app/s he installed.
But how do I find the problem?
Uninstall them one at a time?
Or is there another way?
If all fails can I do a hard reset, and how?
The phone is still unrooted.
Hi there you can do a hard reset by following these instructions
1.Turn the power off. If your HTC Desire is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2.Hold the Volume Down button
3.Press and release the Power button
4.You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5.Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6.Press and release the Power button
7.Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC Desire. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.
hope this helps
Thanks, I forgot about the "Clear Storage" for some reason.
Hey
So my mobile will start up and be normal for abit then it reboots and shows the green logo like updating then goes to a red exclamation mark in a triangle.
I can't seem to do anything except take the battery out and then start it up again and it will happen again.
The only thing i have done to it today was play around with sync the phone to my PC and installed Android Commander on my PC and was just trying to change rights on the notifications folder but it kept saying i had to root my phone..
So that s about it.. It seems to work okay when the USB cable is connected to my PC i have unmounted my USB card.
and have also tried holding the power buttong and pressing the volume button whilst turning it on.
any suggestions? thanks
I take it your Rooted.... Just take your SD card out, link it with your pc, put the Rom you were using before on it or a new Rom, put back in ya phone & access the recovery menu via the bootloader screen (if you don't know how Google it), now once in clockwork mod recovery just wipe the partitions, then into advanced & wipe the dev cache, then flash your Rom! Reboot then should be fine again. If this doesn't work follow the steps again & do a full wipe after the dev cache wipe & then you will be ok. If this still doesn't work.... Google the rooted stock Rom for your phone, download that & follow the steps again.
Hope this helps
Sent via TapaTalk from me pimped out Desire HD running my own custom style LeeDrOID Rom
I never rooted my mobile? well i wasnt trying to if thats what happened and i haven't changed the rom everything is stock since when i got it.
You can start your phone normally without sdcard and it wont reboot?
i haven't rooted my phone.
i can start the phone without the sdcard it eventually then just freezes.. If i leave it it will then go to that screen with the red triangle and exclamation
If i hold the power + volume up button then i get the option to reboot , wipe cache , wipe data factory reset and i think another option about an SD card
so yeah i guess the main thing is it keep on freezing and locks up on me..
its wierd but if i have the usb connected to my PC it doesn't seem to freeze or anything or lock up :S
okay so if i start the phone up holding the power and volume up button and select recovery then it takes me to the red triangle with exclamation mark.
down the button it says E:cant open /cache/recovery/command
and i have the options
Reboot system now
APply update from sdcard
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache partition.
Ive done the reboot and it starts up but then freezes again
wipe data factory reset and everything else you can wipe (except sdcard) - you will loose all installed apps and you have to resign to your google account, but maybe this will help.
EDIT: wipe data & cache
The red exclamation mark is the stock recovery, in that you can get to a basic menu with power + vol up.
Trying to boot the phone with power + vol up will do nothing, you can get to hboot with power and vol down though.
That E: Can't mount cache error could be a sign of a bad emmc though, which is a hardware issue you would need a new/replacement phone.

cheers deleting the cache has fixed it
Okay here's the run down. I'm on JB and rooted, and was about to apply the new FreeGee bootloader unlock, when I wanted, out of sheer curiosity, to check to see if I could get into the stock recovery by holding powering off and then holding Vol Down + Power. Ever since I rooted it didn't seem to work anymore, but I didn't have a need to boot into since manually applying the JB update.
Anyway, neither Vol Down+Power of Vol Up+Power worked, the phone just booted normally. So, I decided to use ADB to boot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery". It worked, and the stock recovery loaded up. I can scroll up and down using the volume keys, but for some reason cannot select any option by pressing the power button. If I hold the power button down, the phone will appear to restart, but it boots right back into the stock Android system recovery, where again, I cannot simply select any choice with the power button. ADB doesn't list the device since I'm in recovery, and I only have fastboot installed on my lapton running XP which isn't available at the moment (I'm on OSX 10.6).
I'm thinking pulling the battery may work, but I don't have my torx screw driver handy. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps where to get fastboot for OSX (it appears to still be missing from Android SDK). Thanks.
EDIT: SOLVED - Turns out in stock recovery, the soft menu button (the one on the bottom right) is used to make the selection, not the power button like in the custom recoveries. Still not sure why the Power+Vol. Down doesn't work to boot into the stock system recovery.
Use the menu button to select now.
what dm said. they wont be lit up but they still work
Yeah, I figured that out almost immediately after posting this (feel dumb now). Thanks though.
Any idea why the key combo Vol. Down + Power no longer works to boot into stock recovery? Seems odd that it worked before when manually updating to JB.
Hello. Can you tell me another solution. I have similar problem. Stuck in recovery mode with faulty power button, and can't get out of there. It's not working with menu button. Is there a way to do it with SD memory card? Thanks.
My wife's phone is stuck on the AT&T screen when booting. I am able to get into download mode, but am unsure of what to do next. I've downloaded the PC Suite and Mobile Support Tool (which seems to be more recent) from LG but in both cases when I do the update recovery I can't get it to work. The phone is totally stock, no root or anything, and as far as I know had the latest updates.
Can anyone help me bring the phone back from the dead?
This would probably work=
Ensure the device is power off.
Note If screen is frozen, remove/reinsert battery.
Press and hold the Volume Down button then press and hold the Power button. When the System recovery screen is displayed, release both buttons.
Select Factory data reset.
Note Utilize the Volume buttons to highlight and the Power button to select.
Select Yes.
Note Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
Hi people,
I hope this is the right place for this.
My partners phone has a bit of a problem at the moment. Not long ago her phone's power button stopped responding to a single press, however it would respond to three taps, starting emergency mode (though it's not enabled).
I suggested she presses the power button to force shut it off and it's now booting into Android Recovery menu.
Is there any way to be able to get the ROM to boot back from this WITHOUT having to re-flash the stock ROM?
We have very important data on there which hasn't been backed up yet as we didn't get a chance.
I really hope someone is able to help!
Hi, Do you see reboot system now, reboot to bootloader, enter fastboot... like options in the recovery menu? you can try to select reboot system now and power off options with your faulty power button you can press few times if you select the these two options. Only If you select the wipe data factory reset option, your data will be gone. Dont select the wipe data factory reset option.
how to root and install custom rom to this phone do any one know instructions ?
