So my 1+ year old battery finally started to get fat and die at 100% after 5 minutes of using it. I decided to order some new ANKER 1800 batteries because of all the great reviews and so little negative reviews. Here's the link if anyone's interested..

They're supposed to come in by monday, the day i start my Fall classes as a PSEO student, hopefully all goes well. :good::good:

Will do as soon as I get them, oh and thanks!:good:
*Update, package came earlier than expected, 3 days earlier. Very impressed with packaging & pricing. Win Win situation. Pictures coming soon!
I've had a really good experience with Anker's external batteries, so I hope these work great as well.
I got an extended battery from gorilla gadgets and it was fantastic for like a month, but I feel like it degraded really quickly :crying:
Review!
Its almost been a whole week since I've received these batteries and all I have to say is that, its amazing. I get good screen on time 3+ hours heavy usage. I also get a whole lot of standby hours. These batteries last me the whole day from 7am to when i get into bed around 9:30-10pm.
I even have a little juice left to check my Facebook, twitter, Instagram, vines, and youtube. I really love these batteries. So far I haven't seen any signs of battery getting fat or any signs of it deteriorating. :good::good: Pics coming soon!

I have both the Anker and the gold 2450mah..
The 2450mah battery quality died after only like month or so..I can barely get 2hours screen time with it.
Your probably better with the Anker battery as the quality hasn't seemed to drop as of yet. I have a Qcell 4100mah and tpu case in the mail.. It just took me a while because I didn't want to give up my otterbox

I've been using these Anker Batteries for about a week now. They seem pretty good, though I'm new to this phone so I have nothing to compare them to.
I posted a screenshot of my battery after streaming one hour of a movie over Netflix, with the volume at 100% and brightness at 100%. When i started the stream, the battery was at 100%, and after one hour it dropped to 81%. I also have a sip client running, so I'm sure that added to the battery drain.
Is a 20% drop in battery normal for an hour stream of a movie at 100% brightness?
EDIT: Pic taken while using a custom Kit-Kat ROM.

Ya, I was running a custom Kit-Kat ROM. I'm finding out ROMS absolutely destroy battery life. I currently switched back to Stock Samsung JellyBean, and I got almost 23 hours out of my battery (pic below). The best I got from custom ROMs was about 15 hours. I guess I'll be staying with stock.

Not sure if that's the problem... I had a completely stock rom from a new phone (to me) mid-Feb 2014 and was getting terrible battery life. This phone was on it's 2nd factory battery. Phone was running warm at times. I read somewhere that a format of the internal SD might help so I copied everything to an old class 2 16GB from my OG Droid and formatted the internal SD, copied back (not using Windows). Did an "SD aligned" format on the external SD using detailed instructions from a blog run by "zero1" and Battery life IMPROVED! (SD internal to ext writes also went from 1-2 Mbps to 26 Mbps, to a CLASS 2 SD!)Then installed Agat_GB27-v1.4.2F, newest Jellyverse, DS battery saver, greenify (with Xposed) and Gravity Screen to eliminate having to use power button. More improvement! So now, being on a roll, I bought a 3800mah battery w/cover from ebay seller unlockxpress1 for $5.98 delivered (0 stock atm but there are other sellers), everything actually fits and snaps in perfectly.
It's been a real trip and education.
Thanks to the xda devs Agat, Shadow_God, kobridge, gharrington, TD, bilgerryan, g_ding, Goddly, rovo89, leducbao, oasisfeng, plexnor and this *GREAT* XDA community see pics for results atm. I'm in ecstasy can you tell lol.:good:

Hey guys,
So I took the plunge and bought one of these 3,800 mAh extended battery and covers from ebay, they finally turned up today and I am very impressed! I'm not going to try and say the back isnt ugly, but it is far easier to look at than I expected! I was expecting a massive ugly lump, and while it is fairly ugly, it isn't that big for the bump in battery life you'll be getting! The cover follows the curvature of the phone to start with, then flattens out over the top, unfortunately, it seems the designer got bored when it came to the end, and just made a square edge!
I have yet to put the battery through it's paces but will push it hard over the next few days and get back to you with the results!

Day 1
So Its 8:30 pm here in the UK, been unplugged since 8 am, fairly heavy usage, still got 22% left. Will update with screenshots later tonight!
Day one (first full cycle) Screenshots!!! (the gap is where I made a clockwork backup) At least an hour of GTA played, and 3g was constantly on.
Day 2
Very light usage today due to having exams, so been revising all day (sitting an exam part way through). I am going to pop the battery out and do some reviews of some new cases and the official extended battery I just received, then pop the 3,800 back in and carry on into day 3!
Day 3
So I took out the battery to do some reviews last night, then put it back in, and carried on! Light usage to start with, then medium usage towards the end of the day! (streaming music, web browsing) This battery just will not go flat with this usage!!! Very impressed, it's still only on it's second cycle!
Time for some quick maths if we take day 2 and day 3, add the total time together ( 12h 27m 23s +1d 1h 44m 55s = 137,538 seconds = 38.205 hours (I think!)) and take it as 50% battery used, we can calculate that the battery should last 76.41 hours, or 3.18375 days, which is pretty impressive!
Hope you guys are finding this useful, I'll update again tomorrow!
Day 4
Okay, so I used it a bit more today, and as a result it's now flat! I'm going to charge it up overnight, and tomorrow I will do a 100% to flat test streaming youtube videos, and compare against the stock battery to see how this beast does!
Day 5 - 100% to flat vs stock!
Currently running what I shall call the nyan cat test. Screen brightness on full, bluetooth on, NFC on, portable hotspot on, running on 3g, left in the same spot, playing the 10 hour nyan cat video from youtube.
Done the 3,800 mAh battery, impressive results! Just testing the stock battery then I will post up screenshots of how long they lasted! If there is enough demand for it I can also carry out this test with the official extended battery, as well as the 1,900 mAh batteries I have from eBay.
Results
Okay, so first up is the stock 1750 mAh original battery!
And now the 3,800 mAh extended battery!
So, the results speak for themselves. 3 hours extra screen on time, and the battery is still only on its third cycle!
Update: I tried to make it look better by covering it in white carbon fibre effect vinyl, but due to the excessive curves around the camera (and my somewhat lacking skills), it did not end well!
so review it and tell us if it really doubles batterylife hope so otherwise it is really damn ugly
but for that price not going to argue xD

Nope, NFC does not work with this battery.
Wow....would you like a side of phone with your battery!
But then again, I had a Nokia 9000i Communicator...so that is still an ultra slim phone!
So are you actually seeing double battery life with this? I recall reading a while back about some 3rd party battery tests and they were only performing at about 50-60% of their rated capacity, while OEM's performed at 95-98%. The back case is hideous... I really hope someone comes out with something in between the lackluster 2100 mah ext battery and the 1850 OEM battery.
*Edit*
Saw this was for the GSM version... Whoops!
can't wait to see some battery life screen shots with this!
Updated the OP with day one screenshots!
Has anyone found a deal for a battery of this size compatible with the LTE model?
(Preferably not the Seidio version, as it retails for near $70.)
13 hours from full to empty with 4 hours and 20 minutes screen on time with a big 3800mah battery, i get 20 hours from full to empty with 4,5 hours screen on time with my stock 1750mah battery.
I know its the first cycle but i really hope it improves alot
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've had all types of extended batteries for my Evo 4g and my Evo 3D ranging from the cheapo Chinabay to the $75 Seidio 4000mah batteries. Seidio has the closest mah rate as advertised and I once was able to get 120hours of average use out of the Seidio 4000mah battery. The Fleabay extended batteries are only "slightly" better than OEM and it adds the pregnant look to your phone.
Now that I am on the Galaxy Nexus and have loved to use Google Wallet, I am not so keen to jump to use extended batteries that do not support NFC. If Seidio is able to make an extended battery that has the NFC antenna, I will buy it in a heart beat.
Gah.. I'm at four hours screen-on time with my stock battery
Yeah looking at your screen shot, I'd estimate it's about a 2200-2500 mah at best.
A stock battery can almost hit 4 hours, and that ones got maybe 4.5 hour.
That's like what, a 60% effective mah over the rated?

I should have mentioned this, I clocked around an hour of GTA use through the day, plenty of web browsing and some video, I would struggle to get through half the time this battery lasted with my stock, and that was it's first cycle!
+1 for 3800mah batt for GSM and recommend it to heavy/busy users.
Battery Monitor says batt life is
13h55m with my heavy usage
13days4hrs Standby
I measured the weight of the batteries and 3800mah is 68.65grams versus stock at 37.75g
BTW, my phone (SC-04D Docomo G.Nexus) is same as the US GSM type. The GPU is overclocked to 384mhz, processor overclocked to 1.42Ghz and its tweaked from kernel to baseband.
Also, I noticed is that this battery has a working internal temp sensor unlike my X10's mugen 3600mah. I don't use NFC but can put the stock batt back in for that moment... it only takes seconds for the Nexus to boot up anyways.
If you need/want extra batt power, I highly recommend this battery. I've used these fat type batteries for 2 phones now and love them both.
I've never heard of this brand before, but man, these batteries are amazing. From day one, I've never had great battery with my EVO, usually dead by 6pm from 7am unplug. Recently my orginal batteries stopped working. I would charge to 100%, and it would die in 5 minutes, so I had to go hunting for batteries.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-1700mAh-Batteries-Incredible-Multi-purpose/dp/B0050MUSLY I personally vouch for these batteries. 200mAH difference seems small, and it might be, but these batteries last me almost 2 days, and is the same size as OEM batteries. Also very good price. I ordered the double because we have two evos in the house, but if you want just one then here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-1700mAh-Battery-Multi-purpose-Charger/dp/B004KW5E8W
I HIGHLY recommend these, the battery was my biggest problem with the evo, and this just flat out ended that problem. I've had the batteries for about 2 weeks now, and still performing very well. I'm too lazy for screenshot, but right now it has been 12h 24m on battery, and I'm at 59 percent.
All in all, if you have battery problems, buy these.
BUY THEM!!!
Lots of batteries do well the first few days, and then lose capacity quickly after. Do another test next week and do a comparison, see if there is any drop off.
I noticed from your other threads that you used to have cyanogenmod, but had some issues and switched to a sense rom. Which one did you finally settle on?
I too had issues with aosp and after trying out over a dozen sense roms, I went back to cyanogenmod, spent some time with it, and finally solved all my problems.
It's still going strong after 2 weeks! But I will wait another week and report back. I ended up settling with Synergy Rls1 non-godmode with Lithid's Freedom-Agressive Kernel.

hmm thats odd. cyanogenmod is the only rom that doesn't work for me haha. im using miui at the moment and its is 100% perfect (at least the build im using) and i usually swap between decks, miui, and mikg. my phone just refuses to cooperate with cm even after many attempts at it...
how do this compare to the Sprints 2600mah battery. Looking to switch back to a slimmer battery.
I've never had a sprint 2600mAH so can't say anything, but this definitely outlasts the original battery by miles
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You are going to get at least a 10% bump in battery stamina simply by virtue of the fact that you are using a fully charged battery from the charger and not getting the fast initial 10% drop caused by HTC's charging algorithm. That being said, I also have these batteries and for the price and and extra mAh, they are great. Keep one in the charger and pop it in when you go to work and last all day.
have nothing to say about these batteries.. But I am subscribing to this thread to keep my on the discussion. I bought a 3500 gorilla gadget and i am kinda disappointing. It is not holding a charge like it used to (after only 4 months). So I may be due for a replacement. These sound interesting.

The battery will fit, however, you won't be able to get a stock battery door on over it. You'll have to find an extended battery door or duct tape it in place, lol.
Anyone have a link to a higher mah battery than stock but will fit own size and is road tested? Although the 4.67 update rocks, I still want a lil more juice.

My weekend usage with the Anker 1700 mah battery really not doing much so don't think I was watching YouTube videos, playing games and talking on the phone much. Was a pretty laid back weekend and stayed on WiFi except a few quick trips to the supermarket but still, never had anything close to this battery life.

Working a 12 hr. shift tonight into tomorrow morning which will be much more standard/heavy usage i.e. 4G, tethering, phone and texts. I'm going to leave this battery in and pocket a fully charged spare just in case. Will report how long the first lasted during standard usage on 3G and 4G.

Well here you have it! I did my normal 12 hr. shift last night with several phone calls including a long one with Verizon technical support because our FIOS was offline at home last night. I have Gmail set to push, got and sent several text messages, about 15 app updates, Titanium Backup auto backup on and about 30 mins. of tethering my tablet over 4G. With the stock battery I was constantly plugging in to bump the charge throughout the night. I have not touched a charger in 3 days!
To to OP, Amazing is an understatement! If anyone is considering a battery replacement look no further because these are surely the best investment I've ever made for my Evo! Of course YMMV but if the below doesn't convince you I don't know what will.
Get them today for $13.00!!!!! I swear I'm not a spokesman but these are so good and I'm so happy with them I've just got to share with the people I've learned and gotten so much from here on XDA.

That's pretty amazing battery life. I think I may have to try this out. Thanks for the info.
I followed all the instructions from from seidio, let the battery fully discharge, then leave it on the charger for an extra couple hours after its full and do this for the first 5 or so charges. After this i repeated the test EVIL JIMMY did with the screen brightness all the way up bluetooth on 4g on and mobile hotspot on and watched the 10 hour nyan cat video. My battery lasted for 3.5 hours? With my stock 1850 battery i was over 2.5 hours. does anyone else have this battery yet and what kind of battery life are you getting? One of the biggest reasons im upset is that the cheap chinese knock offs for the gsm phones was getting 6+
I saw your review of this on Amazon. For 70 bucks you would think the performance would match the price.
How long have you had this overall? For the first week or so my Mugen Power (xperia play) had awful performance. It wasn't until after all that conditioning that it really shined.
Maybe you just got a bad unit?
try to calibrate the battery, download battery left from the market, it will take days or about a week to fully calibrate a battery.
sorry to hear that man,
i got the cheap chinese one like jimmy and got around 7hrs of rundown test

I am getting the battery tomorrow. I will report back my findings. If I was you.....I would call them up and tell them. They may send another battery to you!

No to be mean but I do have a Seidio 3800 battery on my Galaxy Nexus and get great battery life. But that is not what the instruction say. THis is what the instruction say.

This battery is mainly for looks.
Agreed. It's more than likely the same as the $10 battery on Ebay just with a beautiful coat.

I am putting it through it's 4th charge cycle. I live around NYC and have LTE. I have gotten MUCH better performance on this battery and am a heavy user of Netflix, Youtube, my screen is about 75% of the way bright, and I use Google Music (streaming) a lot. I feel bad for the few bad reviews I have read. I am happy to say, the least amount of time I have gotten on my daily VERY heavy usage has been 23 hours, a great improvement for me personally from the Samsung Extended battery. I wonder if there are some duds out there, as I read a review on Amazon of someone who is only getting 4 hours of screen time (and only 3 hours on the stock battery). Even if the brightness was maxed out, on LTE, and overclocked, I am not sure how you could possibly only get 4 hours with this. I feel so bad for him, I wonder if the phone is defective, or perhaps, the battery connector has an issue? I am not an expert, I just don't see how I can pull over 24 hours with my heavy usage (except for my one 23 hour day), and I have not even finished conditioning the battery fully yet. Anyway, even though it adds some bulk, the extended door was NO WHERE NEAR as BIG as it looked in the pictures. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Seidio Surface Extended Case, so at least everything is the same color now. I hope others out there give their review, as I can't believe I'm the only one who is getting a lot of hours out of this battery. It's MASSIVE lol

I bought both the battery and the case for the battery off of Ebay. The case fits extremely well and although it doesn't really have much shock protection it at the very least will stop scratches.
Still in the process of conditioning the battery but the simple fact that Seidio had the foresight to actually produce a case for it was enough for me to use it.
I am pretty sure OP just got a dud.
After a couple of days use I can safely say that my Sedio 3800 works amazingly well.
I also have the case that covers the phone AND the enormous battery and it fits wonderfully.
Both highly recommended if you have to be on the go for some time.
Seidio 3800 with NFC impression
I decided to pick up the Seidio 3800 with NFC after trying to save money on the Qcell 3850 and found it to be total crap. This is the first cycle and its looking pretty good. I followed the instruction and charged it for 8 hours before i used it. Most of the battery drain was me trying to kill it by streaming videos on Netflix.
Kernel - Lean Kernel 3.2.1
Rom - AOKP b31
Percentage - 2
Battery time - 18h 15m 50s
Screen on time - 6h 45m 59s
I was connected to Wifi all day.
It really depends on the usage. I bought the samsung extended and I still had problems with it NOT lasting all day. My old phone's battery (Blackberry, garbage I know) lasted all day so I just had to charge it every night. That's kind of what I was looking for in a battery. I don't really care about size, so I tried the Seidio 3800 and I finally got an all-day charge.

You say you use Samsung Extended battery ? Where you get it and what about the specs ? sorry,, i never heard about it..
Has anyone purchased the Hyperion Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3800mAh Extended Battery from Amazon? How has battery life been with it?
$25 for such a large battery sounds quite suspicious... but the amazon reviews arent that bad!
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Exte...1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333678914&sr=8-1-fkmr0
I got one and was getting very similar battery life as the 2100mah.
I used it for 2 weeks, so 14+ cycles.
I just got the Seidio one today. I hope it performs better.

I got great battery life from the battery. On the first day with a full a charge, it lasted approximately 30 hours with some pretty moderate usage. Not bad for the first full charge.

It is quite heavy and bulky though, nowhere near as svelte as the stock. It doesn't look that bad really, the back cover is textured like the stock cover.
Says it has NFC capabilities, but I don't use them, so I am not sure.
The one thing I found curious about it is the seeming uptick on the battery percentage at some times. Percentage would go up a percent or two every now and then when not charging or being used. I did not wipe battery stats prior to using this, so that may explain it. I will continue using the battery (back to the svelte stock today), but it has outperformed my hopes so far.
eh...a little out of budget
whats the sceen on time?
I'm able to get 5:30 hours of screen on time with the official 2000mah extended battery on my gsm gn.
I'm looking to get an extended battery, but it needs to do at least 7 hours of screen on time for it to be worth it.

Don't have a number yet. Doing another test today. Will update. Of course, the battery varies whether I am in LTE range or not. Also varies with brightness of the screen, etc. Therefore, I don't think screen on time by itself is very helpful in the determination.
Can u put some pics to see what it looks like with cover etc.? Any suggestion on compatible cases that might fit...?

The newly released Seido spring clip holster is designed for either a "naked" CDMA Galaxy Nexus -- or one sporting one of the monster extended batteries.

Clearing battery stats does NOTHING. N.O.T.H.I.N.G. The "uptick" is what happens when you slam the battery really hard (video streaming, gaming, whatever) and cause it to drop. The voltage will recover a bit from that once you stop, which cause the phone to recalculate the remaining power. All lithium batteries do this, you just notice it more on large cells because you can drain two watts from it without it dying first.

I will put some pictures up tonight or tomorrow. I don't use a case, so I don't know about what would fit. It is quite different size-wize, so something like the Seido case referenced above or a "bumper" case is probably your best bet.

Wow, I was just guessing, no reason to get so upset about it. I don't know much about that kind of stuff so I was just guessing while making my observations. Sorry for being uninformed on the matter.

29 hours on a charge this time. Probably 2-3 hours of LTE during that period - that definitely makes a dent. Pretty consistent use with a few heavy segments of use.
And for your question regarding on screen time:
But, like I said, I don't think you can judge too much off of that. All depends on screen brightness, LTE, etc.

I wasn't upset, nor do I blame you for thinking the way you did. That rumor swirled around here for the better part of 2 years. It just needs to be made abundantly clear to everyone that the battStats myth is a placebo. It doesn't do anything. In fact, the stats get cleared every time you unplug your phone after you charge it.
Pictures
As promised, here are some pictures:
The first two are with the stock battery installed:
Next three are just the covers, side by side. Stock obviously on the left in the first two.
Last three are the extended battery installed.
Let me know if you would like some other shots taken.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the battery. i easily get 1 day without having to charge. I actually like the heft that is added with the battery as well, makes the phone more substantial and seem less fragile.
I bought this battery as soon as I saw the thread. I received and installed it yesterday. I charged it for the full twelve hours that the manufacturer recommended and I'm on my first cycle now... so I can't comment on battery life. But as for the battery cover... it doesn't fit as well as I had planned. But it stays on, and is comfortable to hold. I actually like the larger back and the added weight that the battery brings.
I will report back with battery results after a few charge cycles.

Battery cover fits fine on mine, see my pics above, no problems. The bottom corners of the cover are starting to rub and the paint is coming off though. It makes the corners kind of black.

Be a Clear Battery Stat athiest if you want but don't push your liberal beliefs upon others.
Wipe 3x before flashing
and Clearing Battery Stats is sacrosanct.

Can you provide a review now that you have used it for a few weeks?
hey guys,
So I got both of this big boys and decided to do a side by side comparison. I can tell you both are very good batteries ..both do their job and for the price gap between them the difference is not substantial .
If you are still undecided which battery to pick, this review might help u
Enjoy!

Great review TY.
Bought my innocell 3800 about 4 weeks ago and love it.
Price is a bit steep, but nfc compatible and super long lasting.
Average use I get 36-40 hours (nonstop LTE). And heavy use about 25-30 hours (nonstop LTE)
Again thanks for the review

Glad it helped you!. your times are similar as mine. I think its a good investment ..but I cant use extended batteries all the time. I like to retain the thin profile..Man i even hate cases but Im too stupid to not have one because I drop phones like crazy lol
I'v tried Seidio innocell and its pretty good
here is what i got from it

would love to try out the Mugen battery
Thank you so much for the video review! I always hated extended batteries because of how it made the phone look, but I think the mugen battery cover doesn't look bad at all. I think it's because how it looks at the end/bottom of the phone (doesn't protrude out as much).
I felt the same way at the beginning, had to go back to my original nexus with that amazing curve every so often.
But after a while the extended battery just grew on me. Especially with just the skin tight case.
I did notice tho that now I seem to be getting a bit less battery life especially after a bit heavier usage.
Ill try battery status wipe in cwm and do another 2 rounds of full charge to discharge.
How do you go about your charging patterns?
Do you -
1 - full charge to discharge every time?
2 - full charge to to half and back to full?
3 - full charge to x% back to full?
And has your battery life been dropping slowly? I.e. getting less hours per charge.
As it stands now it seems to have lost roughly 3-4 hours after the same usage as when I first got the battery.

I try to go from full charge to like 10 or 5 percent however work and school dont let me do that everyday. so little charges here and there happen all the time . But at night if im low i let it charge
nope I didnt get that issue at all..But what i found with every single extended is that the first full charge is INSANE ..its so good that creates an standard..I dont know why lol but after that its been steady.
What rom are you on? And do you have any battery mods?
I'm on arhd 4.0.1 with the circles mod.
You think that could have anything to do with it?
I'll post back in a couple days after the battery wipe and full charge. Maybe my battery mod is throwing it off.
Thanks again for the info

nice! I hate how some little things can screw things up
Wow, this review didn't help at all. When buying a battery the most important factor is how long it lasts. The mAH values reported by the manufacturers are meaningless so battery reviews are there to test how long they really last. This video review was nothing else than just a comparison between the back covers provided with the batteries.
Next time charge both of the batteries and then do a heavy usage test with them. A regular heavy usage test would cosist of running an internet stream video on constant brightness. That way pretty much everything is being used: screen, radio and processor. Then have both phones running the same video in a loop until they run out of battery and see how long they last.
So how about you buy both those batteries and buy 2 galaxy nexuses and do a review yourself? Then provide us your input on what you have found.
I do agree that the person left out an important part but he did do a battery review. Any information is appreciated and physical features can make or break a persons decision on a product even if it isn't important to you. I for one will thank the reviewer on his input between those batteries and leave negative comments out the window.

I think the charging pattern is not really relevant when it comes to li-ion batteries...what is important is to make the phone understand that there is new capacity used. These hi-end batteries last for 400-500 recharges so I think that if you get less battery life, you should just re-calibrate it.
Mugen btw has a user-guide with calibration process described there http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/user-guide It's a no-brainer for a generic user, but it does it's job. Just I don't think it's good for your battery if you do it often...
