internal memory photos - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

hi guys my girlfriends s3 soft bricked can access green android download screen and really need to get photos back as have babys first year on them!!! i tried looking and tried odin and holo but just cant seem to get anywhere sleepless nights and no eaten is taking its toll.... if anyone can help i would even pay if somone is in scotland/england..
thanks team

What model is the S3? If youre in England, its probably the international model which is in a different forum, just so you know.
Can you boot recovery? If you have the latest TWRP or maybe CWM installed, you could use the built in file manager to copy from the internal storage to the external sdcard.
Or if you have the sdk installed you could pull the folder using the adb pull command while connected to your computer.

Also, you should be able to Odin flash the official firmware. I know on the T999 model it doesnt wipe data, do the oics should remain intact.
Unless you were on a custom rom, then you may have to factory reset which would wipe data...

thanks for fast reply yeh im in scotland will check forum. i installed sdk but get error message when try to open it? tbh im justb getting to grips with all this i dont know what twrp or cwm are sorry
sorry further reading i see what cwrm is but its all stock firmware and can only acces download screen

Not sure about the error, but there are tons of tutorials and guides for getting that set up.
Twrp and cwm are custom recoveries. These are used to flash roms and mods, nandroid backups and are just a valuable tool.
TWRP = Team Win Recovery Project
CWM = Clockwork Mod

You probably need to ask in tge international forum for this. Unless youve somehow screwed up the partitions you shouldn't need the pit file. DO NOT use a PIT file from anything but your exact model phone! Also, DO NOT flash anything you find in this forum or you are likely to hard brick!
Only flash stuff from the I9300/I9305 forum.
In my sig, go to the firmware thread and see my instructions for Odin there. Im assuming, not guaranteeing, that it should be the same for your phone. Id verify first, but do not select anything in odin except f reset time, auto reboot and PDA.
I would look for a guide for Odin in your models forum instead tbh.

If you are able to access download mode then you are able to connect to your phone through adb. First, if you you connect the phone to your pc you can easily pull the photos off of the phone. I would do that first of course before anything. Then of course flash through odin.

Bricked?

Im having some trouble and am wondering if someone could help me out. I came from red's freegs3 R6 rom and I decided to use the super wipe zip found in the op. I followed instructions to the T and when I tried flashing this rom (xquizite) after the superwipe my phone rebooted into the galaxy s 3 screen. It wont move from there. I cant access recovery because it seems that superwipe wipe the recovery too lol.
I boot into odin and all I get is downloading do not turn off target. What is it downloading?
I guess I have to flash a new recovery but I cant access anything on my phone. I'm trying to use the toolkit found in the sticky's but I can't get usb debuggin on to flash the recovery. Can someone help me with steps to get this straightened out.
Its booting into download mode. Install odin onyour pc, download the latest firmware, plug in your phone and go. Theres plenty of tuts on odin and I dont want to mess something up by going from memory.
I dont think superwipe does anything to recovery so not sure what hapoened to you there.
You are not bricked though.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You aren't bricked, I can tell you that. Have you tried to Odin back into stock?
I'm downloading stock rom now. This means I need to reroot right?
Clearly there is a miscommunication on what Odin is. You don't boot into Odin you boot into download mode. Odin is a PC app that you use on your phone while your phone is in download mode. It isn't downloading anything unless Odin is pushing software to it from your PC. It just always says downloading.

Okay thanks for the correction. Yes im in download mode. Is it okay to push any other rom rather than stock thru odin or is odin made only for stock pushes?

If someone makes a tar package....it flashes tar packages to the phone containing modem, system, MDM , data and partitions basically whole stock firmwares I am going to find u a package that is already rooted and ready to go in Odin. If u do it any other way (root) u will have to flash an insecure kernel. So this package will flash the stock firmware and root u from there I suggest flashing recovery right after. I would use twrp.......follow directions carefully here.....download goo manager beta from market then install it open it give it superuser perms. Then hit menu on Ur phone and go to "install open recovery script" this will download recovery (twrp) and install it for u when it says its done just reboot into recovery. IMO twrp way better then cwm and cwm is somehow always linked to imei. Always disappearing ...never heard of any problems with twrp and it does backups and restored quicker.
OK so basically to be on the safe side u need to flash stock recovery on your phone first so the Odin package completes with no problems. This will also be a tar.
Then u will flash the stock ROM tar
After that Is complete u will be rooted and have stock ROM
Now do as I said with the goo managerapp
Here is link for stock ROM with root included...thank Mr.Robinson

So download the Odin program I linked u then download the stock recovery tar. Put your phone into download mode...pull battery out put back in hold vol down home and power. Then when it tells u warning blah blah just hit up. Now connect to PC and start Odin. U should see on left side it should say "added" that means your connected. Now hit PDA find stock recovery flash it. When that's done and it reboots go back into DL mode. Now DL the rooted stock ROM package and extract it to your desktop when it is done being downloaded. Now repeat process hook to PC hit PDA find stock ROM tar on your desktop flash it make sure u don't hit anything else in Odin just PDA! Leave everything else as is. Now that should take around 8 min to flash when that is done u should be running newest ota uvalh2 rooted. Boot up and do the goo manager steps I told u to get recovery or u could use ROM manager for cwm but I do not recommend it with this phone. Good luck and don't use the super wipe anymore .....for your sake

As for the other guy telling me im not ready to flash anything. Thanks for the positive reinforcement and for your help you really did contribute SOO much to my problem.
I remember superwipe doing this when I owned the g2 it always messes my recovery.
I thought I remembered you from the G2 forums. Glad you got your phone fixed. I'm still trying to figure this phone out. Odin stuff is weird to me. I'm used to flashing. I will admit, rooting the g2 was way harder.

I actually wouldn't recommend using superwipe since it wipes your internal sd card.
Sometimes its best to do a full wipe. Especially if you are having problems.

PLEASE HELP possibly soft bricked

I accidently wipe my phones internal storage including backups, Im running latest TWRP and it wont read my sd card. I have a custom rom on the sd card but i cant access via recovery. phone boots to recovery and even download mode but i dont think my usb debug is checked and i cant get thru with odin. Im crunched for time as my wife is coming home in an hour and she will be furious if i bricked my phone i need help restoring before she gets home. thanks.
Heres how I fixed the problem, it was easy after doing but confusing getting there. Since the phone would not boot past the galaxy s3 screen there was no way for me to select USB debugging. That option totally did not allow me to use the Galaxy S3 toolkit listed in android development nor could I select and run any of their lists of "Root" roms because something would happen where ODIN didnt boot it correctly. It ran it at first then "Boot" came on then "Reset" came on then "Pass" came on but nothing ever took. I went to samsung-updates.com selected the ICS factory rom and saved it to desktop. Then I unzipped that rom to unveil the TAR file and flash that via Odin and Bam it ran thru no problems. The problems I ran into earlier were links from other posts and it turned out they were either bad links or not for the phone. I actually tried one guys download link that claimed to be specifically for the T999 us version and it turned out to be for another phone all together Im just lucky that flash didnt brick my device even more. Anyways Odin was my friend it was just a matter of downloading the "Correct" rom. thanks to all that helped I appreciated you all taking the time to answer.
I would download this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682. You should be able to use your PC to flash your Nandroid, although i have never done that.
It doesn't matter if USB debugging is checked if the phone is off.
when i boot to recovery it boots to manual mode anyone know what to do next?
You can flash stuff from your computer in download mode through Odin. I hate doing it myself, but will try to look it up for you

Boot to Recovery and reset factory defaults. That will fix it. It will still "stick" on that screen, but after a couple minutes, it will continue.

I booted to recovery did a factory reset but it still stayed on the samsung galaxy s3 screen for over fifteen minutes now. I even tried the rom toolbox someone suggested earlier but upon flashing a stock rom it prompts me to check usb debugging and I cant get past that screen.

Found a rom and a kernel in the development section and ran it thru odin and it still didnt take. I noticed that the rom flash thru odin only took about two minutes and not once did i see where the modem cycle was being applied. Still no luck for me. Since my phone does not boot pass the galaxy s3 screen is it possible to get the phone to mount via usb cable and copy the roms to internal storage and install via recovery?

[Q] how do I erase everything so all I have is Odin?

I did some searches and couldn't find a confirmed/direct answer to this. I am somewhat new to flashing ROMs but not new to technology.
I have an epic 4g touch. It is rooted with the unofficial 9/18 cm nightly on it. When I look through root I have a bunch of folders/files left over from apps long since removed and never used again. I have tried factory resets and clearing/ formatting caches etc etc. The root never seems to be touched inmost of these processes. With that said, how do I do a fully clean, erase everything wipe and reinstall of cwm and cm?
Thanks for your help!

Files on your SD card can be deleted using a file explorer like esfile. If its not that please explain what files you want to get rid of. If its on your internal or sdcard it will never be wiped using factory reset.

The internal should be erased if you do a factory reset from the phone's settings menu if I'm not mistaken. Doing a factory reset in recovery doesn't though.
Correct. Not external sd. Think of a full low level format of a HD and reinstall.
That's what I wound like to do.
Also,
Is Odin a hardware based admin terminal or is it firmware?

If you really want to clean everything out, format the User storage and any MicroSD card from the Storage menu and then flash the full restore Odin one click. Good as new and no lingering stuff.
Do not do this if your phone is flashed to a different carrier. It will mess up your nvram. You will possibly lose service. If on a touchwiz rom on sprints network you can also use the code ##786# I believe. It formats everything. I would take out tour external SD card as precaution.

But if I remember correctly this also wipes out the activation data in NVRAM... not a big deal if you're on Sprint, BIG deal if you've flashed the phone over to another carrier or MVNO.
As a result I don't usually recommend unless necessary.

You can get FI03 rooted. After the one click, boot back into download mode and flash Agat's FI03 + Recovery repack by Odin. Then use Triangle Away to make the yellow triangle disappear and you're all set!
Odin is pretty straight forward. You only use the PDA option on these devices, no matter what you're flashing. One clicks have the Odin software already in there so all you need to do is install USB drivers, go to Odin mode and click Start. The regular Odin package you specify the package in PDA, go to Odin Mode and click Start. Easy peasy... but PM if you have any ??s

Odin is a proprietary Windows application made by Samsung that connects and safely updates software on a phone such as ours. If you've ever updated by Kies it uses the same method. (This is what I know of it, please correct if I'm wrong).
There's also an Odin Mode which resides on the phone... but whether or not it's on one of the eMMC partitions I'm honestly not sure. Hopefully someone can confirm that one way or the other.

Odin is download mode, part of the firmware related to the bootloader as long as your bootloader is intact download mode will be intact, its entirely seperate from the rom, kernel/recovery, and data partitions. If you want to wipe both or one SD card(internal or external) you can format them from recovery.
ETA: download mode will work even without a rom or kernel on the device, its entirely self-contained in its own partition along side the bootloader and unless you manage to delete the bootloader partition, which will hardbrick your phone, download mode will work. If you've ever had an HTC device download mode is similar to the part of hboot that allows you to run an RUU to restore your device. Kies, Odin and heimdall use download mode as a way to restore/update the rom,kernel/recovery, data, bootloader(if there's an updated version) and modem partitions

Ahhhh OK. So Odin does not have it's own chip to reside in, it shares the memory space through partitions with everything else.
Awesome answer, thank you very much!

how do i flash a zip file rom on download mode?? lost
Do you not have a cable to connect the phone to the computer ?
If not, perhaps you should buy one (they are cheap) before continuing on. I know you can transfer files without one, but it's really invaluable and I wouldn't start messing around in my phone without it in case something like this happened.
Do you have an SD card in the phone now ? Do you have an adapter or something ?

You don't flash zips in odin. Flash the fw .tar.md5 file.

Yes. Use Odin to install root66 from docs sticky thread in android development.

Yes just follow the directions step-by-step using the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z file for T-mobile. Do NOT SKIP any steps. Also to note, after you flash, you will be on a completely stock rom but WITH root (rooted).

Well, the fw is just short for firmware. Not part of the file name.
Basically you download the version you want, UVDLJA for jb, UVALJ4 is the latest ics.
If you want pure stock, get the regular firmware. If you want root, use the root66 version. (Root66 is identical to stock fw but is pre-rooted).
Flash whichever one you choose and you will be fully stock.
If you go to the firmware thread in my sig you will find all available firmwares, regular and root66 (ignore the ota files).
In post 2 of the thread you will find Odin, Drivers and instructions. Look for the Odin Instructions, not Mobile Odin.
If you alreadyhave kies or drivrrs installed, don't reinstall them unless you're having problems.
Good luck! Ill try to keep popping in to see if you have any more questions.

Or use mrRobonsons thread. Whichever is easier.
Some get confused, but use 7zip to extract the root66 firmware.
Tbe file you flash in odin will have the extension: .tar.md5

@OP, make sure that you are reading and listening to what people are telling you. Everyone that posted in this thread has been in the same place as you and has recovered from it. Maybe gove a little bit more info. We all know Panic Mode when we see it, so just try to be clear and concise as you can.

N7105t wont boot

Hi, new here and new to Android. My mate convinced me to jump ship from iPhone and get a Note II and I love it. The best phone I have ever had. But now I am way above my head here. I gained root with Chainfires CF Auto Root and installed mobile Odin. Installed a version of Aroma Rom found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093080
I installed everything and worked perfect but I didn't like the moto theme i installed within it so went back to mobile Odin to go through the process again but this time it is stuck at the loading screen. Gets passed the GT-N7105T screen and goes to the ANDROID load screen, but does nothing else.
I initially backed up my EFS but forgot to do the Nandroid. Really need help... Thanks in advance.
Is there any way I can do a restore or anything? I can get to the Vol Up, home, power and vol down, home, power menus. Go to work in about 1 hour so fingers crossed I can get some ideas at the end of my shift.
Try a factory reset/wipe data. See if it helps. Phone will be fresh with no data if it works

Thanks, tried that before but will do it again. ... Ok, so completed factory reset (through recovery mode) and then reboot. Wont go any further than the android load screen.
Is it possible to gain root access with cwm and flash another rom? Can't seem to do it from recovery mode with cf auto root.
There is a thread which have pre rooted stock roms but flashable via odin only. Correct me if im wrong. Try downloadbany of the chefs rom for yur model. Usually it comes rooted. Try n see if that helps. Other than that try repartition yur phone using pit file

Hi,
My guess is the ROM got stuffed somehow.
If you can get in to cwm recovery, try doing a full wipe and flashing a new ROM.
If u can't get in to cwn, download a stock rom for your model, from WWW.sammobile.com
Install Odin on your PC (it should come in the zip that the ROM came in)
Then boot your phone in to download mode (home button + volume down + power button )
Plug your phone in to PC
Open Odin, you should see a blue box showing your phones connected.
Now depending upon if the ROM is single or 3 file, u will need to do one of the following:
If its single file, select the PDA tab in Odin, and select the ROM u downloaded. Then click start.
If its 3 file, click on the tabs PDA, PHONE, CSC, and select the corresponding files with the same name.
Then click start.
The may also be a pit file in the ROM tar file, don't flash that. As it can cause a hard brick.
If what I said doesn't work, let me know, and the is a few other things u can try.
Cheers
Corey

Ah thanks so much guys. This is the exact info I have been searching for. I know its all been asked before, but trying to sift through the thousands of threads with thousands of posts is so frustrating when you can't find the answers. I have spent the last week researching and finally flashing a rom, then this happens. I thought my phone was a gonner!
Will give this a shot now. Fingers crossed.
Cant believe i didn't try this earlier. doing a firmware recovery through KIES and seems to be working so far.
Good to hear that. Just do a nandroid back up nxt time u flash anything just incase things like this goes wrong

Hi just wondering if someone could kindly shed some light on how to make a Full Nandroid backup of Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7105T) using Vodafone Australia Mobile Service. I have already rooted my phone using exynosabuse method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032849 and I'm thinking of flashing the #hashcheck# rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093080. Thanks in advance for your response...
To make nandroid backup you First need to flash advanced recovery (cwm/TWRP)
After this you will have option to backup in recovery menu.

I have just installed ROM Manager v5.5.1.7 but when I try to flash ClockworkMod Recovery it says Unsupported device (Galaxy Note N7105T android base 4.1.1 DVALK3). However there is support for Galaxy Note N7105 but i just don't know whether this will work on my phone model (N7105T). Are there any other alternative methods available or has anyone here been able to backup the above phone model? Thanks in advance for your response

Hi,
I am pretty sure the n7105t and n7105 are the same, but just have different SARS values (work on different networks and need different rils and modems).
If that is the case, you could just download build prop editor from the android market, or just use a text editor, and change the device ID to n7105.
Then you could flash the recovery from ROM manager.
I used to have a galaxy s2 that was the T variant, and the only difference on that from the standard model was the sar values.
Alternatively you can just download a .tar recovery, and flash it thru Odin.
Cheers
Corey
