Hi, new here and new to Android. My mate convinced me to jump ship from iPhone and get a Note II and I love it. The best phone I have ever had. But now I am way above my head here. I gained root with Chainfires CF Auto Root and installed mobile Odin. Installed a version of Aroma Rom found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093080
I installed everything and worked perfect but I didn't like the moto theme i installed within it so went back to mobile Odin to go through the process again but this time it is stuck at the loading screen. Gets passed the GT-N7105T screen and goes to the ANDROID load screen, but does nothing else.
I initially backed up my EFS but forgot to do the Nandroid. Really need help... Thanks in advance.
Is there any way I can do a restore or anything? I can get to the Vol Up, home, power and vol down, home, power menus. Go to work in about 1 hour so fingers crossed I can get some ideas at the end of my shift.
Try a factory reset/wipe data. See if it helps. Phone will be fresh with no data if it works

Thanks, tried that before but will do it again. ... Ok, so completed factory reset (through recovery mode) and then reboot. Wont go any further than the android load screen.
Is it possible to gain root access with cwm and flash another rom? Can't seem to do it from recovery mode with cf auto root.
There is a thread which have pre rooted stock roms but flashable via odin only. Correct me if im wrong. Try downloadbany of the chefs rom for yur model. Usually it comes rooted. Try n see if that helps. Other than that try repartition yur phone using pit file

Hi,
My guess is the ROM got stuffed somehow.
If you can get in to cwm recovery, try doing a full wipe and flashing a new ROM.
If u can't get in to cwn, download a stock rom for your model, from WWW.sammobile.com
Install Odin on your PC (it should come in the zip that the ROM came in)
Then boot your phone in to download mode (home button + volume down + power button )
Plug your phone in to PC
Open Odin, you should see a blue box showing your phones connected.
Now depending upon if the ROM is single or 3 file, u will need to do one of the following:
If its single file, select the PDA tab in Odin, and select the ROM u downloaded. Then click start.
If its 3 file, click on the tabs PDA, PHONE, CSC, and select the corresponding files with the same name.
Then click start.
The may also be a pit file in the ROM tar file, don't flash that. As it can cause a hard brick.
If what I said doesn't work, let me know, and the is a few other things u can try.
Cheers
Corey

Ah thanks so much guys. This is the exact info I have been searching for. I know its all been asked before, but trying to sift through the thousands of threads with thousands of posts is so frustrating when you can't find the answers. I have spent the last week researching and finally flashing a rom, then this happens. I thought my phone was a gonner!
Will give this a shot now. Fingers crossed.
Cant believe i didn't try this earlier. doing a firmware recovery through KIES and seems to be working so far.
Good to hear that. Just do a nandroid back up nxt time u flash anything just incase things like this goes wrong

Hi just wondering if someone could kindly shed some light on how to make a Full Nandroid backup of Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7105T) using Vodafone Australia Mobile Service. I have already rooted my phone using exynosabuse method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032849 and I'm thinking of flashing the #hashcheck# rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093080. Thanks in advance for your response...
To make nandroid backup you First need to flash advanced recovery (cwm/TWRP)
After this you will have option to backup in recovery menu.

I have just installed ROM Manager v5.5.1.7 but when I try to flash ClockworkMod Recovery it says Unsupported device (Galaxy Note N7105T android base 4.1.1 DVALK3). However there is support for Galaxy Note N7105 but i just don't know whether this will work on my phone model (N7105T). Are there any other alternative methods available or has anyone here been able to backup the above phone model? Thanks in advance for your response

Hi,
I am pretty sure the n7105t and n7105 are the same, but just have different SARS values (work on different networks and need different rils and modems).
If that is the case, you could just download build prop editor from the android market, or just use a text editor, and change the device ID to n7105.
Then you could flash the recovery from ROM manager.
I used to have a galaxy s2 that was the T variant, and the only difference on that from the standard model was the sar values.
Alternatively you can just download a .tar recovery, and flash it thru Odin.
Cheers

Much like the others here I rooted my T-mobile galaxy s3. The root worked fine and all. Then I downloaded this font changer app (I forget the name but it required a root) I go on to select a font then I go on to reboot like it said. Then bam, my phone gets stuck on the samsung screen. I then proceeded to use odin to put the stock image back on it (I think that's what it's called) It went through. I also did the factory wipe via the recovery screen. But now my phone would turn on, show "Samsung Galaxy S3," go to a black screen, play the t-mobile jingle, and the only thing that happens is the LED flashes but still nothing on the screen. I've tried virtually everything and I still think there is something else I need to do.
Help please?
I had a similar problem, this is what I did. Try and boot into cwr by hilding the vol up +power+home when it vibrates let go. Now u should b in cwr. Now wipe everything, dalvic, factory wipe fix permission. And flash a new rom cm10 will do..

The problem is that he may be rooted but doesn't have cwm recovery.
If that's the case then you need to flash cwm recovery first.
I would also try flashing stock rom again or after flashing cwr download nandroid backup of stock rom.
Good luck and let us know if that worked

That sounds like a reasonable solution. Can I get a link to the CWM recovery file as well as a guide to it so I don't dig myself into a deeper hole? lol
Actually if you're stock recovery, factory reset should wipe everything. Including internal sd, just so you know.
If that doesn't work it'd probably be cleaner to just odin the root66 fw. But if you prefer the other way, you can find recovery files at the top of post 2 in the fw thread. Root66 is at the top of post 1.
I still need to add a few recoveries so if you don't see one you want let me know.

Hey guys,
Was trying to root my stock T-Mobile Galaxy S3, and everything was going fine but after it rebooted from Odin, the screen stayed black, and only the blue LED was pulsing. I assume it has something to do with my phone being on 4.1.1 and the S3 toolkit not liking that. I tried to flash the stock Rom to get it out of this, but now the same thing is still happening. I have tried multiple cache wipes/factory resets and multiple other stock ROMs. I always without fail get the same thing Samsung splash screen/Blue pulsing LED/start up sound and black screen. I'm getting really frustrated and worried. Can anyone help?

That's actually the exact problem I just solved. You would need Odin 3.04 (well that's what I used) and you need to flash root66 like one of the previous posters here said. It recovered my phone AND rooted it. So try that and tell us what happened.

When I try the root66 it fails in odin. I used the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA one. First, I had toolkit convert it into a .tar. Then I chose option 8 to flash a stock rom. I skipped ahead to flashing the rom and factory reset like it prompted. Then I tried to flash the .tar and it fails. ..:/. I don't know what else to do.

Actualy I don't use toolkit so I might be wrong, but I don't think you need to convert root66 to tar. Just skip the toolkit. Put your phone into download mode, open odin, connect your phone to pc and flash root66. Check root66 thread for some info about unziping it or converting to anything. All info should be in op. If there is nothing about it then flash it as it is. Make sure that you have phone drivers installed and turn off kies.
I hope it helps.

Unzip the fw using 7zip. Then odin flash the .tar.md5 file you just extracted.

Did the same thing
I did the same thing. I used the toolkit and was distracted by my son which ended up in me skipping over areas I thought I read and missed the part about JellyBean creating soft-brick.. It did install CWM though . Low and behold, I soft-bricked my phone with the pulsing blue LED from HELL. I kept having issues flashing everything, luckily the toolkit DID install CWM for me which was of no help. When I used Odin 3.0.4 it worked flawlessly with the stock rooted t999 rom which I have attached along with Odin 3.0.4.
Here is how to fix your soft-brick with the black screen and blue LED from hell:
1.) Download files attached and EXTRACT > root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z AND Odin_3.0.4_Files.zip
2.) Boot into download updates screen by pressing and holding Home Button, Volume Down Button, and Power Button at same time until you boot into downloading updates screen.
3.) Plug in your phone to your pc
4.) Open Odin 3.0.4 make sure Auto Reboot and F . Reset Time are checked
5.) Click the PDA button at the right, select boot-stock-tmobile-sgh-t999
7.) Click the START button.
8.) Repeat Steps 2-4
9.) Click the PDA button at the right, select root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5
10.) Click the START button and you should see it install things you never saw before like BOOT, SYSTEM, MODEM, etc. (not in that order) at the top left where it shows installation progress (that little green rectangle)
I need help please, ive looked around on the forum for an answer to my problem but to no avail..
The story goes...
Had my lovely note 2 for a while, decided to root used (exynos abuse). (i only needed root for root explorer as i wanted to change the boot animation) i never got around to doing this.
Next thing i was on the playstore and i seen a DPI modifier, i downloaded that and set the DPI to 240 granted su permissions and the phone rebooted..
Now im stuck in the samsung logo boot loop..
Could someone please help my get my note 2 back.. im not bothered about the data on there as all this is backed up.
I have already downloaded odin, but not sure what to go from here as i am still a n00b
I hope you guys don't mind me creating a thread, i have used the search bar intensively before starting this

You could just stick a Build.prop in a Cwm zip and flash that, but u would need Cwm recovery installed to use that. If you don't have Cwm installed, then go to this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000138
Download the file ending in .tar
Boot your phone in your download mode, open odin on your pc, and in the pda tab, select the path to the Cwm zip.
That would save u from having to flash a stock rom, and u would still keep all your user data.
If u need help making a Cwm zip, i can send u one with a Build.prop later today.
Cheers

Hi,
If you changed the build.prop back to 320, then the build.prop might not be the only problem. I guess the DPI editor you used must have changed some other things in the rom.
I will attach my build.prop here , so try pushing that to your phone, and see if it boots, if it doesn't boot, then the DPI must have changed some other things somewhere on yhe phone, and you will have to flash a stock rom.
Here is my build.prop
http://db.tt/4idemf7B
Try flashing that, if it doesn't work, then you will have to just flash a stock rom with Odin.
Cheers

Hey man thanks again for your help, i pushed the build.prop you provided and still nothing.. im downloading the stock fw now on my works connection so its taking forever (12mins left) so i will flash the stock fw to it.
I understand that i stick the phone in download mode.. open Odin, plug phone in. chuck the .tar into the PDA box and hit start?
What do i do if after flashing the stock fw its still stuck on a boot loop???
I do have the phone insured so i can swap it at the store, but due to the holidays that wont be until the end of next week and i need my phone for work... plus im enjoying the learning curve of sorting the phone myself
Thanks again corey
It is unlikely you will get bootloop after flashing stock firmware.
Even you get it just you have to wipe it from recovery (Vol up+home+power) and wipe cache
If that won't help then you have to wipe data(factory reset) from recovery too.
But here with wiping data you will loss your data.
PS : You can flash any stock ROM.

Hi,
Before flashing the stock rom, boot the phone up in to recovery (hold home + power + volume up) and wipe data, Cache, ect.
And make sure u don't tick any box's ect in odin, as some of them can potentially brick your phone, so just leave all the check box's as they are.
Seeing u just changed the DPI, flashing a stock rom will fix it. The only way to hard brick a phone, so that flashing a stock rom doesn't fix it, us by stuffing up the /boot partition. Which is not too easy to do. And changing the DPI wouldn't do that.
Just make sure the stock rom u install is the right one for your phone (make sure the model number matches your phone). As a n7105 rom won't work too well on a N7100 ect.
And leave the phone for up to 10 min to boot up after flashing the rom. So don't try restarting ect till you have left it to boot for 10 min.
Cheers
Corey

Cheers

Simply flashing official stock ROM with Odin (PC/Mobile) won't erase data.

Go to firmwares.
Download the one for your phone.
Boot into download. Flash with odin.
The file u downlaoded is to be flashed via cwm or twrp. Not via odin. It will be a zip file. Flash the whole zip together.

Have you gotten back into twrp recovery yet?
If youre stuck in a bootloop which it sounds like...hold volume up home button and power until device turns off and once you see samsung logo let go.
Did you make a back up before you flashed? If so restore it and youll be fine. If not then you need to remember this...always always make a backup. Every thread on here says make a backup before you flash.
And btw I dont hate noobs. We all were at one point and I remember how stressful it can be when you're unsure of what youre doing amd think youve bricked. Pm me if you need help. As long as either you can get into recover via the method I said above or alternative method is plug you phone in your pc, open up cmd prompt in then folder you put all your android root files. (Hold shift and right click in a blank space in the folder, then go to open command propmpt here. Then type in:
adb reboot recovery
That will also get you in recovery.

It won't connect to ODIN OR Kies Im so scared that I have ruined my phone crying very hard
Odin doesn't work unless you're in download mode.
What happens when you reboot? If it takes you to recovery, boot into download mode (power+vol down+home) and flash a stock image.

What rom were you previously using? And you do have a T999L right? You won't be able odin flash any stock firmware because there isn't any.
Try again to get into download mode. If you can boot recovery you should be able to get there too I'd imagine.
Hold volume down and home while powering up.
If you can do this, odin flash either cwm from aerowinders sig, or twrp from mine. Then reflash whichever rom you were running before trying the pure stock rom.

Hello I'm a she lol but what originally happened was I rooted phone through Odin. Then when I looked in Twrp and cwm it kept saying i had no recovery image. I went through thread on here and saw someone with same issue and follow Mr. Doc's instructions pertaining to the pure stock and recovery and this is where i landed. Im in download mode so yes i see my phone is not ruined lol I just need the file Mr. Doc is telling me about to reflash because im now connected to odin. I had to use another computer. I greatly appreciate all the time taken to help me get my phone back to working order. Since I am new I need to find the place where I can give a lot of Kudos to mr doc and his team now all i need is where to i go for mr doc file
In my signature, click Recoveries. Then in the twrp folder download version 2.5.0.0. Get the one that's a .tar.
Then once connected to odin, click the PDA button and select the tar file you just downloaded. Then click start.
Once done it should auto reboot. Now reboot into recovery and try doing a factory reset there.
If you still can't boot after that, flash the other, deodexed rom from my T999L thread.
I've got to go for a bit but will try to jump back on soon to see how you're doing.

Neither CWM or TWRP have added support yet, though it should be as simple as asking. Ill try to contract them in a bit.
You can manually install any of the latest recoveries for the T999 though. They have been confirmed working by several people.
Are you familiar with Odin? I suggest going to the Recoveries link in my sig and get TWRP version 2.5.0.0. The one you want has the .tar extension.
Then flash that in Odin.
If you aren't comfortable with Odin I can tell you another way using terminal emulator.
Your phone does currently have a recovery, but unless you've installed a custom one its still stock.
Also, you can flash any of the Roms posted for the T999. If the rom doesn't include a kernel, and it touchwiz based, you can flash one of the kernels in my T999L thread in development section. I'd try the MD5 kernel first so its matched with the Touchwiz rom you choose. (If you flash CM or AOSP based roms, do not use the kernels I just mentioned).
Hope that helps!

Hello XDA Community,
Well I am a beginner in terms of trying to utilize anything my T-Mob. Samsung Galaxy S3 has to offer, tried to place CM11 onto my S3 but I think I just bricked my device.
I got to the part where my phone was unrooted and I had all the files ready for ZIP. I actually used TOWELROOT to unroot it, got SuperSU & permissions, I think I may have bypassed KNOX, not 100% sure.
I had the latest TWRP - it boots into it fine but when I tried to install CM11 w/ GAPPs - it fails to install. I keep getting the error that the binary doesn't work. I was reading on the forums that one had to change the d2tmob into d2can - tried it and put the new zip back into the SD card, I even tried to put CM10.2 thinking that maybe the "stable version" might be better than the nightly.
Anyhow, I was following a guide and I deleted everything (INCLUDING MY OS) except for things in my SD Card.
I cannot recover anything because I backed up my phone onto my phone - which was wiped...real genius....
I am kicking myself, I haven't been able to use my phone for 4 days now, I've been trying to fix it myself but I have NO CLUE in terms of what to do next.
I keep reading about ODIN and booting something else but I am extremely distraught over the whole ordeal and I do not know what to do.
I can boot into download mode (down button + middle + power) but my skills are extremely rudimentary - I am sorry to bother the community but I really do need help.
I have trouble understanding any difficult things - I kind of need the instructions to be broken down to like "Plug phone in now" - do that...and etc. Any links that might help are muchly appreciated.
I just want any OS now - even if it is stock but I need simple instructions ~ I am sorry, I really do not know where else to turn to....pretty sure my phone is bricked (soft bricked, idk) - but I do not know where else to turn - please help XDA community.
So if there's anything someone could dig up or do to help me fix my phone....I would be eternally grateful.
Download the stock or root66 firmware from my thread stickied in development. I suggest reading that and other stickies as well btw.
After downloading, unzip. The result should be a .tar.md5 file.
Boot download mode
Plug in phone, open odin 3.09. (Download in my signature)
Click AP and select the firmware you just got.
After the check finishes, click start. When it says PASS it'll reboot and you're done.

And AP should be in Odin right?
Also...for the boxes - what should be checked in ODIN 3.09 when I am about to put in the AP thing?

Okay, so now that my phone is back on Stock (I used the root66 method), I have SuperSU but when I go to the app, it gives me the message
"if you have a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM, that can be used to install the SU binary. This is recommended for HTC devices. How would you like to install the SU Binary, with Normal as an option & TWRP/CWM as another option.
I am trying to see how to properly root my phone in the next step.
After I root my phone, I hope to get flash a ROM.
I am sorry to ask again DocHoliday77 but could you please help me once again in terms of what to do next?
I think your instructions were really simple (layman's terms) and it helped me debrick my device.
I just do not know how to flash a ROM, let's just say for purposes that I wanted the Carbon ROM - how would I proceed once I get to the step with SuperSU's message? Please help
If your intentions are to flash a rom, you don't need to be rooted before hand. Just boot into twrp/cwm, factory reset and flash the rom. That's it!
As to your specific question, I always choose Normal for that option.

Just a heads up, I hear they may have solved it, but the latest cm roms haven't worked well without the 4.4.2 modems. If you flash and find you have signal/connection/imei issues, factory reset and flash an older version.

Seems like a silly question but how do I get CWM/TWRP?
I had booted into TWRP before but I kept getting the binary updater error when I tried to flash CM11.
Is there an easy way to get CWM - I think that would be my route of preference now because of the sour experience with TWRP.
here is a link to CWM advanced philz touch recovery. its CWM but with xtra options and you use 'touch' instead of volume buttons.

Sorry, was just reading up on how to flash PhilzCWM with a GS3-t999 but it seems a bit complicated.
I'm sorry, I am extremely computer illiterate and I have to apologize for that.
My goal is to get a custom ROM - I already have the ROM I want downloaded and such but I just do not have anyway to flash it.
Is there any easier way to get to where I want to be?
Please let me know & if you could provide simple layman's terms, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
if you can get to cwm recvery to flash a zip file , then
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/
the 2nd zip file from the bottom is the latest i believe. (philz_touch_6.486-d2lte.zip).
click on that and it should download to your phone. then go into CWM and choose that file to flash. reboot phone. then go back into recovery and you should now have 'cwm advanced philz touch recovery' on your phone.
then you can flash your ROM from there.
hope that made sense.

Can you tell us exactly what recovery you currently have? Twrp/cwm/philz should all work fine. I use twrp. Just personal preference.
Also, go into Settings > about device and tell us your current baseband.

Hey I finally installed a custom ROM onto my Galaxy S3!
I just used TWRP and flashed it. I've been messing around with all the combinations so far ~ it's really amazing, it's like I have a new phone.
Quick Question: say I wanted to flash another ROM, other than the one I am currently using.
Can I just download another ROM onto my SD card and flash it via TWRP again OR
Do I have to restore the phone back to it's original stock OS and redo the TWRP thing again?

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Haven't been home this weekend.
For the most part, yes, just download the new rom and flash. No need to revert to stock or reflash recovery except in certain situations.
Unless you are flashing a very similar rom, it's always a good idea to factory reset. You can get away with "dirty flashing" sometimes, but if you have problems, youll have to reset.
This is required if going between different based roms such as Touchwiz and cm.

Hi, everybody!
The minus page says that the file is not avaible or does not exist, when I try to download the original ICS Rom of the T999 T-Mobile.
Please, fix this!
Thanks!

I don't recommend installing a stock ICS ROM if your phone has a 4.3 bootloader.
Yeah I did the ICS on the 4.3 bootloader. Don't do it, it hurts......
