Welcome!
I have a strange problem.. I bought a second battery to my Desire - 'FOREVER' brand. Battery indicator says whole the time 100% or even sometimes 102%.. And sometimes shows : 20 % and that value get higher and higher.. I like that.. But Its not true value
If I switch the battery to orginal, battery indicator shows normal Value. I try wipe my mobile many times, changed roms and all that 'software' stuff... But still I have that problem.
And The Question : what wrong with my second battery? Its a battery problem? Or My Mobile? Or something else?
Its worth it to give battery to warranty? Any sense and hope, that they fix this problem?
Or maybe every battery that I will use it, not from HTC brand has a similar problem?
Please help me.
Thanks!

You bought a bad battery, warranty won't be much help as they'll send you a replacement, probably won't work either. I'd return it if possible, go for reputable or official brand, read a few reviews before buying. Sometimes paying a bit more in this case is worth it.
Thanks for Reply. Now I trying to use program to monitor battery and Estiminate lifetime of battery after few cycle based on usage level by the user.
The battery is functioning normally. The only problem is then - when suddenly, my phone turns off .. i do not know how much time it will work. It's annoying because I always have to wait until it self turns off.
We'll see if this helps.

I have been looking all over the net for such thing and nothing....
I am looking for a tool like BatMemTime 4.1 (if u remember it ),but not for today screen, because i have to switch off HTC sense.....
most important for me is to see uptime after full recharge and to estimate remaining battery (HH:MM) on current charge/use.....
Can somebody help ? It looks impossible for me....and if i can't get some hints/idea here i am giving up.....
Yes i try wiki, google and another 1000 sites
Thanks for the help in advance.
Sorry for the second language if i have typo's
Anyone ? Nobody knows ?
I think you are looking for htc 1% battery indicator, sorry i dont know the link, pls check the begining of the every section, this is a must software.
I have 1 % battery indicator! Thx. I am looking for estimation on remaining battery charge. For example if you are 85 % it will read 22 hours remaining battery with current use at the moment.... something like that......Can Anybody help ?
Define: "That works"
The problem with a remaining time indicator is that it very rarely actually works or even comes close to working. Not on a laptop and certainly not on a phone (which has several other factors when computing battery time). My opinion is that if one exists, it's not going to meet your demands. Unless you're going to leave your phone idle with all radios turned off, then any time indication with a battery level greater than 5% will almost always be way off. Secondly, this is more typically found on full computers because on full computers, the bridges themselves have the functionality to tell you how much wattage is coming from each pipeline at any given point. I'm not certain that phone architectures do this and I'm pretty sure that even if some did, there is no standard implementation.
Just my two cents.

The battery pack pro from Omega One software has a feature that uses your past battery performance to estimate the remaining battery. But it is not free.

SlyMaelstrom thanks for the answer, i understand.
Stevedebi this program will not work together with sense(manila) "on" , but thanks anyway.

I don't use Sense, so I never tried it. However, because Sense takes over the today screen, and the battery pack needs to have it's Today plug-in active, I suppose that might be an issue.
Anyone else got this? My battery should be fully charged in the morning with the green light on - but the battery is 91% (or 94% or 99%). Then if I plug the charger it jumps from 91% to 100% in seconds.
Just hope its just waiting few cycles to calibrate or something... :/
Yeah, it seems to sort itself out after a few charges.
same with mine, only just happened after the update
I have something else to share about battery charging after update. I usually charge my phone from my computer's usb port during the night.
However after the update USB charging is much slower than before. It would take about 4 hours to charge from empty, but since the updates it only charges with a rate of 13% every hour so it takes more than 7 hours to fully charge from empty.
Anybody else noticed this?

yeah, ive had these same exact issues. its so annoying. its just not worth charging via PC usb any more
The GTalk issue is out there again, not sure if its the culprit? I have unchecked the 'automatically sign in' and logged out, but it keeps turning on and logging me in by itself. Im sure its one of the reasons for the battery drain. Anyone else with this?
This morning it dropped from 100% to 88% in less than two hours without really doing anything with the phone...
this whole 'stopping charging till 90% once its reached 100%' issue is rediculous. I cant believe that HTC have added this to the update (cos it didnt happen before) for a phone where users rarely get a days usage out of the phone battery anyway! Now you even stand the chance of starting the day with 10% less charge than you should....rediculous!
if its something they want to include then thats fine, but at least give us the option of turning it off
This is from a german forum:
Let the phone empty the battery until it switch off for its own. Switch on again and do a new boot until the phone is switch off again. When switched off charge the battery completely with the original charger.
... and the 90% issue is gone
I have a second battery I never used before. Im going to put it to charge tonight - and let it do few complete full/drained cycles. Hope works ok.
Wonder if everyone else has the persistent GTalk on? I dont want it!! Arghhhhh....
I have the same issue with mine Desire after updating last week, just get the green light for a full charge and after a few minutes I check my battery widget and lol 10 % are gone.Any chances for fixing that issue?I would appreciate if anyone give a helpful advice.thanx in advance.cheers

The same here...
do we have new info about this issue ?
Is this such a huge issue then? I mean, sure you want it to show the correct %. But does it affect the total duration in any way?
The 10% can eventually level out when being used. I wonder if the device is at e.g. 30% it should actually be 40% in this case, or the 30% is actually quite accurate.
The % is an estimate to give a better representation how much there is left rather than just following the voltage drop. But in the end it will most probably be the voltage that makes the device decide whether or not the battery is empty.
Don't be silly, ofcourse this is a huge issue, did u ever seen such a issue on any other device, even devices of 5$ dont have this strange behavior.
Phone from such class to have such a problem, this is annoying.
And rather iPhone4 signal strenth issue i think here problem is software and it will be fixed
Comon, a 'huge issue'?! It's merely some % figure that's not shown correctly.
Oh well, I guess it's a compliment for the Desire then.. if 10% off is a huge issue, the rest can't be so bad!
Devices of $5 are really bad in showing correct percentages really. One part of the % goes fast, other slow and then suddenly fast again (you know, 1 out of 3 blocks left but flat battery in no-time, while the second block lasted hours and hours). Just because a device says it's 100% loaded, it doesn't mean it's actually correct.
That's why I wondered: Does it actually affect battery performance. If it does, then (and only then) you can call it a 'huge issue'. Otherwise I would just call it a minor annoyance. But obviously stuff like this might be personal eh!
But I'm quite convinced as well this is a software problem and can be fixed. I just don't think it will be very high on the HTC priority list
Ok, i agree its minor annoyance, but anyway it's annoying at least to me, you are right, this percentage may be fake, but for me it will be better if they show me real battery load
cheers
ps. i saw in your signature u r 1.15.405.4 - do u have this behavior on it ?
Well, the Desire is gone to be replaced now. But I didn't have this problem with my old Desire. Then that one got replaced (because HTC scratched it), and the new one did have this problem.
But now the Desire is off again because of weird touchscreen problem, so lets see how the new one holds up
people please help any way you can. my battery is all messed up. with each calibration I make it is worse. nothing helps. I tried with various ROMs and kernels. The problems started when I was at Supernova and not in the beginning but after few months of using it. I put GingerVillain and immediately calibrated. Phone was charging overnight, I plugged it off at 9 am and he died at 9:10 at about 90%
*
and all the time it dies at about 85-90 %.
*
For each calibration shows me that it was successful.. Chgtf is lit and value is 0x81. After each calibration in my batery batery calibrator shows age 50%.
*
I noticed that when the battery is at 0, it charges about up to some 20% and then immediately jumps to 100 and the indicator lights green.
Is it possible that the battery is bricked or something else?
Any help???
Cheers
i think the calibration is last thing what you can do when battery is aged.
i bought this battery http://www.ebay.com/itm/390392595398?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and this seems to be good.
Yes and evaluate when you buy a new battery, because i experienced problems with amazon/ebay sellers which traded fake batteries(a lot less capacity as shown), but looked like a original http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457104

I'll +1 that.
A new battery solved simlar problems for me (though by far not as bad as you've discribed)
Hi guys -
My 8.4 has been driving me crazy for the past week. It is not rooted, running the stock Samsung image. The battery percentage seems to be wildly inaccurate. I've read through many of the battery threads here (most seem to deal with the inability to charge completely), but I have noticed some that seem to resemble my problem. The solution seems to be to pop the back off and replug the battery. I have not done that, and frankly, I don't think that's the issue here.
Symptoms: Battery appears to drain unevenly - will drop several 10's of % instantaneously during mixed use, and sometimes level off again. I haven't found any runaway processes. Bottom line, overall less then expected battery life followed by the system shutting down. HOWEVER, if I then reboot, it will boot up anywhere between about 5 and 30% remaining - and will continue to run. Sometimes it will drain quickly again, other times it will run for several more hours. Sometimes if I connect the charger after shutdown, it will immediately jump to 40% upon reboot.
Experiment: Drain battery smoothly after a full charge by looping a local video, and track battery percentage and voltage. When system automatically shuts down, reboot (it pops back to 30% or whatever) and continue. Keep rebooting and running until a reboot registers 0% and immediately shuts back down.
Result: Battery drains VERY evenly and consistently. It's only the android percentage that seems to be erratic and cause the system to shut down. I've attached a graph of what I see. The spikes represent points where I rebooted. Blue line = battery percentage (left axis), orange line = battery voltage in mV (right axis)
So given this, I'm having a hard time believing it's a battery connection issue. My uneducated guess is that unplugging the battery works for some because it forces android to recalibrate the battery meter. I've been unsuccessful in getting it to recal by charge/discharge cycles.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on what I should do next? Is there a way to force a recal of the 0% point without rooting? As a side note, I find it odd that my Nexus 7 simply doesn't boot when it hits zero - just shows a battery symbol. Seems odd that the Samsung let's me constantly boot the thing.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Hi! I own a tab S and some users get this problem also on the tab pro. Its something with the battery connection to the device which causes the gauge to be all wonky. Usually problems like you described need to be replaced by Samsung. If you are under warranty, then they'll replace it for free of charge. Better to be extra safe! Hope this helps!

Thanks...yeah, I saw all the comments about the battery connection. As I said in my post, I'm still struggling to believe that it's a connection issue when the battery voltage - reported through a battery widget - is very reliable and steady. It's only the percentage that's wrong. Sounds more like a software issue to me. If it was a connection issue, I'd think the battery voltage would be all over the place too.
Frankly, I'd rather not send it in if I can avoid it (no service centers local). I'd like to explore all possible other options first. Any other ideas on how to force a real recalibration?
Thanks,
Mike

When your device is fully charged, My guess is to turn your brightness up to the max and open an app that's like intense graphical games or Google earth. As long its stresses your CPU and GPU. That should make your battery drain really quick and cause random reboots because of the meter. Keep doing so till it reaches 0%. Then recharge. If that doesn't work then I don't know. I've done that many times after I flashed a custom ROM so it would calibrate. Doing that would draw all the power out hopefully

Ok...I gave up. I've tried the drain thing multiple ways. I don't want to root the thing or install a custom ROM because I won't be able to use it on my company network. I called Samsung and set up a return. What really bothers me about this is that without an explanation, it's likely to just happen again -because again, I'm still convinced it's software related.
Thanks anyway,
Mike
Sorry to hear that. Please come back when your device is returned from RMA and tell us how it's doing...

Will do Calvin - thanks. For the record, I tried one more thing before I boxed it up. I reflashed the firmware with Samsung Kies3. It all went smoothly, and I had high hopes....but shortly after logging in to start setting it up, the battery immediately dropped from 99 to 88....so no luck. I'll be shipping it out tomorrow. I'll post my findings when it returns.
Mike
Well guys - I got my GTP back earlier this week. The actually fixed it in one day and shipped it right back to me. Unfortunately, there was no explanation or description of the repair on any of the paperwork or their website - so I have no idea what they did. Regardless, it appears to be functioning normally now. I fully charged it when I got it, and then ran it down to zero through random usage throughout 2 days...and when it hit zero and shut off, that was it. It wouldn't turn on again (which is what I would expect). I charged it back up, and it's working fine again. So far, so good.
Bottom line, I guess I had some kind of a battery problem, but it appears to be working now. As I said before, I just hate problems with no explanation - it means they are likely to happen again. I guess time will tell...
Mike
Hey there guys, fellow developers, I have a problem with my battery. To be honest I can't really tell if it is slowly dying or whatever.
I bought a used HOX and I am having weird battery behaviour. As you can see, I can get these stats over a day. (see attachment)
The battery percentage often jumps over time. When I'm multitasking/playing a game/surfing net, the battery often stay for example on 62% and after 5-10 minutes it immediately jumps down for example to 50% without showing proper battery percentage.
And vice versa... When I reboot phone with 30% it will reboot and then I'm noticing battery percentage jump but to the other side. (for example to 35%)
Today it jumped from 4% to 61% when rebooting. Lol?
By the way, charging is too slow and when I'm using the mobile at the same time it doesn't even charge up.
Sorry if this is solved somewhere else on forum, but I could not find that.
Thanks in advance guys. :fingers-crossed:

I am also expressing the same battery problem.... Does replacing the battery solves the problem because this will be again 1800mAH battery???
I kinda have the same problem. With "kinda", I mean the battery meter will sometimes drop down in 4% or 5% increments (ex. from 56% to 51% immediately).
Thinking of changing the battery too. If you did change yours, be sure to let us know if everything is back to normal.

Okay, hope you fix your problem. Be sure to let us know.
As for the slow charging, if you're using a USB cable, you could try a custom kernel and enable "fast charge". The phone will charge with the same speed and voltage as an AC adapter. (It will disable access to your USB storage though until you untick "fast charge").
Even with fast charge I'm facing same problem like all they do ...
