I need to reset the KF to discover new WiFi networks. Connections to saved connections works fine.
I`m using the last nightly build and tried a full wipe.
I don't know if this is a common issue.
Running cm10.2. Never had that issue. -- Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium
Same problem
WiFi Analyzer and several other WiFi scanners do not work on 10.2 nightlies. I went back to 10.1 where they work well. Anyone else with this issue?

I tried with all nightlies versions, but the problem continues.
Whenever I want to see new networks, I have to restart the KF.

There was a problem with one of the nighties, I updated to the newest nightie and the wi-fi works great.
Wifi analyzers and CM10.2
On my Motorola Defy+ I have to let my wifi disabled before opening "Wifi Analyzer". This way the application is able to scan for networks.
You have to enable the "auto enable wifi" option on the application settings.
Seems to work fine on my device.

I recently installed GingerVillian on my G2 but after trying all the reboots. and other solutions i've read on the forums i still can't get wifi to work. After rebooting once it will let me add my wifi network but it will never connect. It tries to then wifi turns off and back on and does this repeatedly never connecting. I turned off wifi sleep so that isn't the issue neither. How do i fix this? I'd love to have GingerVillian on my G2 but it's just not functioning properly for me. Any resolutions to this issue and i'll try again but for now i'm gonna restore my old OS
was it 1.5?, I think I had it work for me, when I get home I will reflash and post result.

try rebooting it
I would agree, try rebooting. Just loaded 1.5 on my G2 and the wifi works here at home.
I got exactly the same problem after installing ad free, and titanium backup..
Don't know if any of those apss could result in such behavior.
Tried Fix Premissins through Rom Manager with no luck.
Tried also to uninnstall those programs, still no luck.
It seems like the phone dissconnects the wifi after a short while.
i have to re-enable it, but still no luck.
Enabling Wifi-tethering works though. the AP appears on other devices, an connects. Also enabling traffic passing through my 3g connection.

FYI, i called t-mobile and are sending a free replacement. now i just have to figure out how to revert to stock os
Flashed with CynogenMOD.
Works perfect untill i enable WIFI, then it boot cycles.
Rolled back to GingerVillian, Same problem as before.
Flashed my radio, and now it works perfect again.
Seems like a glitch in the radio image or something?
solution: newest Radio?
So which radio would you suggest?? I am having a problem with my wifi running the radio ending in 26, which I believe is from T-mobile.
I am not sure witch Radio you should pick,
I found mine under Phone specific tutorials.
My signature shows whitch i am currently using.
Go visit the phone specific forums and search for your newest radio in some of the tutorials.
Hi,
I'm running the latest CM10 (Linaro). My Wi-Fi connection constantly drops for a few seconds then reconnects. It was doing this on CM9 as well. Not sure about what it did when stock (wasn't stock for long).
Is this an issue with the Kindle, or with the rom(s)? Is there a hardware update? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
mike
Seems to be a common gremlin with custom ROMs. There are a few that don't drop, or as often. Gotta test em all.

Thanks. I just did a full wipe and installed [ROM][10/10/2012] Unofficial AOKP Jellybean Build 4.
Same problem. I suspect if I went back to a stock rom, the wifi issue would disappear. But no way... this Jellybean build is fricken awesome.
Might a different kernel help? Could it be that I just have a lemon?

This sounds like a hardware problem. While there have been some wifi issues in the past, these have been resolved. Dropping constantly is hardware. Reload stock and exchange it with Amazon.

I installed the stock rom (MoDaCo Custom ROM). The wi-fi seems to be working great.
Maybe I'll just leave it stock. It's not so bad once I put Go Launcher on!
- Update - I did a thorough wipe of everything, installed the latest CM10 (SEMI-NIGHTLY] CM10 + 4AI.1.7 KERNEL [STABLE). WiFi seems to be working properly now.
Thanks,
Mike
Mine is/was doing this on CM10 SGT7, but I think it's application specific. Some apps kick the wifi off constantly, like every 20 seconds, while it can stay on perfectly fine on others. If I shut down all apps I seem to stay online just fine. I'll keep experimenting and see what is doing it. I'm also wondering if it's a combination of the KF and my DIR-655 router, which doesn't like some devices anyway and maybe just has a conflict with this one for some reason.
Anyway I'm going to keep testing the SGT7 before wiping and switching. I'm also going to wipe and reinstall SGT7 because if it was really a ROM-specific problem it would probably be identified as a problem for a lot more people using those ROMs and be listed as such.
I'm guessing it's a problem that some versions of the KF have, but is also due to a few specific apps and how they access data. I just hope it's not Chrome that's doing it.
WiFi Drops
I'm running straight up Hashcode's ROM 4.1.2 / Kern 3.0.31+ (Oct 10 2012). It's been an ongoing issue. Not sure how someone can say "It's hardware related" when stock amazon rom doesn't have this issue. I've been able to recreate it almost 100% using a torrent client (aTorrent, etc) soon as bandwidth hits about 300kb range, the wifi turns to an off setting. Seems if you don't throttle the connection somewhat, the system drops the network layer completely as a out of control app?
I'm going to try a wipe/update and see what happens. It's very annoying trying to get sypebeta installed when its downloader just goes full balls to the wall and dumps at nearly 90% every time
I am a Big supporter of the CM Team and how they were able to give New Life to my old Epic 4G. Great job!
The problem I am having started when I moved from using CM9 to CM10 After doing a Factory Reset "clean" install... I primary use my Epic 4G as a Wifi Hotspot for my Xoom WIFI tablet which is using Team EOS3 Nightly ROMs. Now I never had ANY WiFi (speed) related problems using the CM9 version as long as I had a good signal. When I upgraded to CM10 I was able to enable the WiFi HotSpot but web browsing was extremely slow and had timeout issues to the point where it is completely frustrating and unusable. The issues due not seem to be depended on the phone's signal strength and I have not been able to resolve the problem. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
Thank you in advance,
I have something similar. It seem to have began after the 11/19 nightly for me. The range of my connection seem to have decreased. Or if it is connected with -70 and below on Wifi Analyzer, it may get not data or very slow speeds, and timeout issues.
I have not seen any kernel changes from bbelos, so maybe it is something else in the CM nightly changes?
I am currently on 11/29 nightly, stock kernel.

I am on the nightly from 12/3, and I can't get the wifi tether to work regardless of what I try (have set it up with open, WPA2, used Auto and Device specific for Epic 4G) - nothing seems to get it to work.
Is there another modem or anything else I should try? I tried to post on the CM10 forum, but as I'm new, I'm not allowed to.

Don't use an app, there is an option in settings>more>Tethering & portable hotspot
I can't even get it to work with the built in option. It acts like there is no internet.
Hello, I've been having a problem with wifi on all new 4.2 roms over the last week or so. For an unknown reason, I can connect with phone data but attempts to get on wifi have been mostly unsuccessful. WiFi just says "obtaining IP address" but eventually times out and starts authenticating again. I have tried wiping everything with 3 different roms and now I'm on Tasks AOKP rom (12/23 with stock kernel) and having the same problem. I've tried all available Canadian modems with the same results (data is best for me on LLH1 though). If I switch back to CM10 (12/16) my wifi works perfectly.
I can get wifi if I mash the on off a few times as it usually causes a force reboot and when it boots I get wifi about 50% of the time. Attempts to modify router settings and reboot my hardware have been futile.
Anyway, I'm hoping one of you is interested enough to peruse the log I saved using "wlan" as a filter. I don't know if that's the best filter but it seemed to show the gist of it. Thank you in advance!

I'm having the same issue task aokp 12/23. Also, if I try to toggle the wifi in the settings screen, it reboots the phone.
However you might try to do this. This morning, I flashed the 12/23 kernal found in task's op. I can toggle wifi on/off now without issue. But i'm not anywhere near wifi to check if it connects.
I found WiFi at target and I'm posting from it. It connected right away.
So, flashing the kernel alone after flashing the ROM, fixed my problem
If you were having the same problem as me, I have to wonder if disconnecting and attempting to reconnect will work.
I downloaded tasks 12/23 underwear kernel, booted to recovery, wiped cache/davlik, flashed only kernel, wiped cache/davlik and rebooted. Tried toggling wifi a dozen times, phone crashed, rebooted, still can't get IP. I imagine that if I play with it long enough I'll get wifi back temporarily, but I use wifi more than data so I'd like it to work better if it can.

Back at home, I can't connect to wifi.
Edit. randomly tried it again, and it connected instantly.
Yeah. I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting router settings (channels, signal type etc) and have thought on several occasions that I had fixed it, but shortly after found that it was a one time connect. I have a spare router in storage that I'm going to try, soon, and that should help me decide if it's a router problem or a JB issue.

Well, no need to play with the router I have managed to obtain flawless wifi, but not on Tasks rom. The 12/27 illusion rom works great, but I can't get mobile data working on it. I switched back to tasks with hope that a future update sets the wifi straight.

I tried the official CM10.1 12/28 nightly this morning and quickly discovered that wifi was working great. I was able to turn it on/off multiple times and reboot without issue. I flashed a different Canadian modem and reflashed tasks AOKP rom (no kernel, no gapps) and wifi was broken again. That logcat makes me think it's something to do with how the rom is handling DHCP requests, but I'm a noob and hardly know anything about any of this stuff.
A nan restore to my AOKP rom got all my stuff back, but it's takes me a solid 30 minutes to get wifi connected.

I updated to tasks AOKP 1/1/13 and my wifi is working perfectly! I considered switching back to 12/12/23 to see if it was the build, but who cares?!
This issue is resolved.

I am using a VZW CDMA Galaxy Nexus.
I was previously on CM10 stable and had no problems. After I flashed (with factory reset) the first CM10.1 nightly, I have noticed that when I wake the phone from sleep, my Wi-Fi is not turned on and it needs to re-connect.
I definitely have the "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" setting set to Always. This doesn't seem to work at all.
I have since been using the CM updater to continuously update to the latest nightly in hopes that this issue would be fixed. So far, no dice.
Anyone else have this issue?
Update: did a factory reset and flashed the newest 12/31 nightly. Still having the same issue.
OK another update.
After factory reset and flashing, WiFi worked perfectly until I restored my apps and stuff from TitaniumBackup.
So this time I just did not restore from TitaniumBackup and then everything worked fine.
UNTIL... I dirty flashed 1/9 nightly using CM updater. Now the problem is back!
Having the same problem. Wi-Fi worked perfectly on stock and this issue only started when I switched to CM.
EDIT: From reading a bit, seems to be fairly common problem. Maybe not just CM.
Hey another update.
I noticed that if I turn my Wi-Fi on and off from the actual settings app, this problem goes away.
The problem only happens if I activate my Wi-Fi from the Quick Settings toggle.
I may have found a fix, under WiFi settings, you can view the Advanced Settings, try turning Wi-Fi Optimization off, and settign the Wi-Fi region code, this fixed it for me. i'm not sure if both are required, my guess is that its the Wi-Fi Optimizations.

WiFi region settings is only for changing which frequencies/channels you are allowed to connect to (since it can vary from country to country which are allowed).

I gave up on this issue for almost a year and I expected maybe the internet would figure it out in time -- but alas it is now September 24th, 2013 and still I am having this issue!
In the time in between I have done a lot of dirty flashes, a lot of wipe + flash, tried multiple kernels (Stock, LeanKernel, Franco). Still this problem persists!
Did everyone else give up just like me?
