CM roms need a cm kernel (provided usually in the package), GB roms need GB kernels, JB roms need JB kernels etc.
The new release of D-kernel will work wonders on kyrillosv8 tho

If u use D-kernel for stock roms or keep the stock kernel, then no it won't.
I would recommend D-kernel tho, and to flash that via CWM recovery --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395
Okay, I'll try on D-kernel

Hi xda, okay, now i'm my phone is running acronium ICS v.2.2 and stock kernel + CMW. My question is, if i want to install GB ROM, let say, Acronium GB, do i have to flash the official GB firmware first ( fw 0.69 ) or just straight away flash the appropriately kernel for the rom and then flash the rom ? thank you for helping

i would say, just flash the stock rooted sammy jb from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 then follow the rest of the instructions of installing a custom recovery and then installing your custom stuff.

I dont think you can flash leankernel to the stock JB.
I think the leankernel is for aosp roms like aokp and cm.
If you look at tasks kernels, he has a variation for stock roms and for aosp roms.
I'd be concerned that you end up with a soft brink if you tried to use leankernel on the stock JB... but if you try and it works let us know!
I end up using CM10 whit the lean kernel like I have before tk for inputs

LeanKernel is NOT to work on stock roms.
I've just seen the thread on how to flash JB and it mentions two firmwares -
XXMB2 JB & XXMB4 JB leak
Which is the best one to use? Are they all bug free etc? Or would it be better to flash a custom ROM, and if I was to flash a custom JB ROM would I still need to flash the leaked JB Firmware first?
Cheers
MB4 is more recent

MB4 with KYRILLOSv7B rom works great for me.
MB4+KYRILLOSv7B+D-Kernel v2 - Awesome, no bugs ( just blackscreen ) and everything is smooth with no lag.

Is the Kernel needed or can I just install MB4 with KYRILLOSv7B?
Cheers
If you want stock kernel use MB2 kernel. D-kernel is not necessary but i think it reduces lag. Also i experienced less blackscreens on d-kernel.

Do i have to have a rom to get a new kernel. Thats the first question the others will be after this one is answered. Thanks in Advance
It really depends if the kernel supports the phone and rom. Most kernels only work if the rom supports that kernel. Take cyanogenmod for example. If you were to flash cm that has stock 3.0 kernel, you can't use the 3.4 kernel or above unless the rom supports it. If you want a more recent kernel then you'd have to flash a rom that supports it.

You need to be rooted with custom recovery to flash a kernel. But, you can use the stock rooted rom. Does that answer?
Also, if you stick with stock rom, or any touchwiz rom, can only use touchwiz kernels. If you want aosp kernels, need to be on an aosp rom.

searching for kernel can save my battrey life , im on android 4.4.1 custom room CM 11
Try k2wl's kernel...
That is amazing kernel..
I have used xenon's kernel too..but in my case..it gave me random reboots after a fix time later..
Though it was amazing..
I would better suggest u do conaider underclocking while not in use or third party apps for it..(i know that's not what u askd for)..

Why do you still run 4.4.1? Are you using an older version of CM11? I suggest updating your ROM first, then install k2wl's kernel.
The correct k2wl's kernel for Kitkat is called "evolution kernel" look for its thread in the debelopment section.
