Hi xda, okay, now i'm my phone is running acronium ICS v.2.2 and stock kernel + CMW. My question is, if i want to install GB ROM, let say, Acronium GB, do i have to flash the official GB firmware first ( fw 0.69 ) or just straight away flash the appropriately kernel for the rom and then flash the rom ? thank you for helping

Just to verify the process, here is the situation: I have an Arc, running stock ICS kernel with JJ's hybrid ROM v2. I originally had baseband 56, and just yesterday flashed baseband 70 on it. However, I was wondering if it was necessary (for full functionality) to reflash the kernel and ROM, or am I safe having only flashed the baseband?
You'll need to boot a kernel using fastboot. Check the dev forums for an appropriate kernel if there's no link in the thread.

Well, I already have a running kernel and ROM, I'm just curious to whether or not I need to RE-flash those things. My phone is still working now that I've flashed baseband 70 and haven't RE-flashed the kernel or ROM.

I want install cm9 Rom
Which one is best of them and how can I install it?(I install experimental or stable or ...)
Plz help me thanks for you're help guys
Cm9 is ics... You need a custom kernel wedgess has a cm9 based kernel but if you want you could use the kernel that comes with cm9.

Can you give me a quick guide about it and the download links?
Plz some one help me

So is the kernel inside it?
And I should flash the kernel then flash the Rom via recovery?
And do you think which one is better cm10 or cm9?
Well cm9 is ics, cm10 is jb. The kernel should be in the zip. Just extract it. Then rezip. Install kernel with flashtool.... Then install rom from recovery.
With jb not much is working right... Personally I would go with ics.

Do as the developer says , I remember the post stated no wipe needed.
he said NOT to wipe them so don't wipe anythn and if it works well then its great, if it boot loops then just reboot into recovery again and wipe them then reflash kernel and try again
Ya, just flash it and don't wipe anything or not it will bootloop

if this is a stupid question, im sorry, but if i have slim bean, then i cant flash a different kernal cause its not an ics rom?
JB ROM flash JB kernel, ICS ROM flash ICS kernel, see the kernel is for what android version properly, DO NOT FLASH ICS KERNEL WITH JB ROM OR NOT YR PHONE WILL NOT BOOT.

each level has its specified kernel
for GB u shall use GB kernel like cow or stock kernels
for ICS u shall use ICS kernel like arcoz cm9 or castagnal or hadi kernels
for JB u shall use JB kernel like arcoz cm10 2.3.6 or 3.0 kernels or forfivo kernels
Ya, that's what I mean

you're able to flash it and it will boot. but in JB it has different mount point with ICS so your sdcard and external SD possibly won't be mounted or mounted in wrong way. for SlimBean case, i believe it use different ramdisk than usual CM10, because my friend tested it and wifi doesn't work there although i've putted wifi module on the ramdisk
Ya? Opps sry I duno can boot cause I flashed the ICS OC kernel on JB before and it stuck on boot image
So u mean if really wan to use the ICS kernel on JB can just port it by changing the mounting point?

U should flash xxmc8 jb firmware if u want harald's cm10.
It's not a hard task.
1- download odin
2- download xxmc8 firmware (from sam mobile)
3- extract the file downloaded from sam mobile
4- flash it via odin as pda part
5- download cm10 (i prefer harald's version)
6-flash it via temporary cwm (see roms thread about installation process).
Any help needed? Just ask.

CM roms need a cm kernel (provided usually in the package), GB roms need GB kernels, JB roms need JB kernels etc.
The new release of D-kernel will work wonders on kyrillosv8 tho

If u use D-kernel for stock roms or keep the stock kernel, then no it won't.
I would recommend D-kernel tho, and to flash that via CWM recovery --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395
Okay, I'll try on D-kernel
