Hey Luke,
Been experiencing this problem ever since i got this phone, i've now tried every firmware update possible, no real fix as yet. I suspected it had something to do with the fact that i moved from a Nexus One with Froyo back to Eclair, but it sounds like you haven't done that.
Let me know if you find a fix... would love to be able to use my market the way it was intended.

Simply no position inside the EXIF Tag.

Thanks for the tip but it did not work. I'm having a problem where the imei number on the phone using *#06# is different to the case imei. I don't get how the numbers changed, but would desperately appreciate if someone could tell me how to match them up again?
I also have a problem with try to correct by changing .imei in /system /efs to match case imei but after reboot it keep changing back.

yes thanks that was the solution iforget todo factory reset
now works fine
I already had 2 crash/freeze with this kernel, it looks definitely unstable.
2 crashes situation :
1/ Pressing stop/play in xiialive lite
2/ listening audio in the standard mp3 player.
It crashed both time using the audio device.
I waited 1min the first time, hoping OOm killer or something else would kill a bad behaving process; without success.
The second time, i did not had time to loose :/
Very disapointing !
2 days after installing JS2 I'm still unable to connect to Market.
I'm unable to setup the Google login. Error is always no server available or something in that manner. Selecting clearing cache in recovery also did not help either.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
If you are not able to login to the market, then you will have a general problem..
Because you can even login if you dont have the market fix..
The market fix is just for secure apps...
Hi there, Im wondering if anyone can help - This is my first android phone so i feel a bit lost in this forum. Well i recieved the phone and i did a factory reset and now i cant access the 'More Games' in the Xperia Games section. It just says Loading.
The phone is running 2.3.4 and Build 4.0.2.A.0.4.2
any help would be great.
thanks
you can try clearing the apps data go to applications in settings menu then find the app then clear data that mite help
Ive tried that, also tried to reinstall using sony updater. Factory reset + Data reset..
I was half way thru downloading fifa 12 as well
Is there a way i can re-install android or summit?
If you want to re-install the ROM you should try to flash a new one with flashtool.
I have the same problem...
I suspect some files from the SD card might be missing and that causes the problem?
As I did a complete reset recently which included wiping off the SD card.
I would GREATLY appreciate advice on this as I don't intend to fiddle with rooting, flashing and so on. Surely there must be an official way to fix this.

That maybe the Play Store thinking you have a newer Android version, even though that is strange considering that ICS and JB apps should all be compatible.
Try this, go to Application Manager from the Settings menu (or you can access it by using the context menu in the app drawer) and then select the Google Play Store. You then delete de data and cache from the app and relaunch it again to see if the problem is gone.
Did you make any changes to your build.prop file?
I'm getting the same error when trying to update Google Search through the app store. I'm also getting 'package file is invalid' when trying to update Tapatalk and a couple other apps that don't come to mind now.
This all started after I tried a new ROM that I didn't like then did a restore using Titanium to go back to Sick Sense. I backed up the data then wiped the phone (dalvik and all other caches), then reinstalled the ROM. Afterwards I restored the entire Titanium backup apps and data.
This is the first time I've wiped and re-romd since I initially rooted/romd six months ago. Until now I've never had any issues downloading apps from play store.
Could there be a file that was restored that possibly should not have been restored?
I tried what was suggested above but it didn't work. Any ideas?

Android Version 4.0.3
Sick Sense HOXL ROM

I'm having similar problems as the OP is and I did change my build.prop. The sdk version was changed to 19 and then I had to change it back because my device was unusable with it set to 19. I should also note that I lost root after it was changed the first time, and I think I might also loose root on every reboot. It seems to be at a random time root disappears but I assume it's because of a reboot. I'm running the stock att sense 5 rom with 4.2.2, should be api 17. Has a solution been found to this?
Note - I understand this isn't the correct forum for the att HTC one x. The problem is similar to what I have and I didn't want to create a new thread.

no reason for this
OH!!! now i remember the biggest change i did lately...
a couple of days ago...i installed a .apk file to open flash animated web sites...then i had to install Firefox, because ive read that it is the only one browser that can browse flash sites...after installing that small file...i downloaded it somewhere on a forum of developers...not here...i dont remember where...but i was happy because it worked...i can now see flash sites on firefox...
could be an issue with the sidebar??? mmmmmm
But...i repeat...I HAVE NEVER EVER seen the edit button since the first day i had the baby....
This is strange indeed. Your warranty should covers software issues right? If so, you can take it to them and tell them the problem.
But first you should do a Factory Reset of the phone and see if it solves it (warning: this will delete your data).
You could also flash a new stock rom that has the sidebar working properly over your existing rom.

Will post news here.

Backup your stuff, reinstall firmware (Kies or Odin).
Setup scripts might have failed on first startup.
Yes, factory reset restores your phone to its original state, so it deletes everything. However, things like contacts, messages, settings, call logs can be backed up easily though through Google and Samsung servers. Also make sure to backup your music, videos, pictures and other media files stored in your internal memory to your PC, as they will be deleted as well. So basically you can restore these things easily, the only thing that you have to restore manually are your apps.
(if you're rooted you can backup your apps and their data using Titanium backup and similar apps, but since you're not rooted you have to download and install them again if you decide to reset).
Who's your provider? My phone is branded by T-Mobile. It seems that the branded models of the n7105 all have this issue. Mine is 3 days out of the box and I'm having the same problem. No edit button and some apps doubled.
I've read similar issues in other forums - all with the 7105 Models

Thx Moh...now i Have the complete view of my phone's future
as i wrote...the hard reset will do again the start up of the firmware automatically? or i have to connect with Kies later?
The factory reset should restore your phone as you first bought. (remember the first day you opened the phone, when it asked you to enter your google account, samsung account, dropbox account etc etc) that's what a factory reset does, it restores the phone to "factory" state-- hence the name. You don't have to connect to kies later.
If after factory reset you still have the problem, then that means that they gave you a buggy software, and you can tell them that.
To be honest? If I were in your position I would probably root my phone, find appropriate firmware in www.sammobile.com, and flash that in my phone through Odin. However, I didn't recommend this route to you as you seem to be inexperienced in doing this kind of stuff and it may void your warranty (or worse, brick your phone) if you don't know what you're doing. That's why I suggested factory reset, which can be done from the phone itself, it is perfectly safe to do, and doesn't require any experience to perform.
I got the notification that the kitkat update was downloaded but after reading there is no flash support I have absolutely no interest in installibg this update. I got a nexus 7 over an iPad solely because I could use flash which is the only game in town on many sites I visit regularly. I got rid of the notification by unchecking notifications in the framework app but I'm worried if my tablet reboots/powers off that I will forced to update before it starts up. Please tell me this is not the case? Also is there a way to delete the download period, even if it's not installed I'd rather it not eating up limited memory that I have.

Not from what I've read, read on this site an official statement from dolphin saying flash wasn't supported on 4.4. Besides I find that dolphin's flash support is not always the best, i like having a few browsers because I find certain browsers handle certain sites flash better. My biggest concern is if I power the device off will I be forced to update since my nexus 7 has already downloaded but not installed the update. Im perfectly fine with 4.3 except the touch issues when the n7 is not plugged in or in my hands....grounding issue I believe?

The one way that I know of how to stop an OTA update first requires that you be rooted. If so you can use an app called Autostarts. Open the app go to Menu click on "Group by application." Scroll down to "Google Services Framework" and click on that. At the top you will see 4 "After Startup" entries. Click on the third "After Startup" entry from the top. In the popup window you should see "SystemUpdateService$Receiver" in the description, that's the one you want to disable. To delete the update I'm not 100% positive but I'm thinking if you delete the cache from Google Services Framework that will delete the update. Or Settings/Storage and click on "Cached data." Honestly, those are guesses because it's been a longtime since I've had to do that! SD Maid Pro will delete the update also but that app also requires root. After flashing the 4.4 factory image when it first came out I went back to 4.3 until I find a replacement for the AOSP Browser, damn it google!
Edit: Decided three weeks ago to give Dolphin another try, installed on my N5 with a hacked version of the flash player and it's working great! Used the factory image to flash 4.4.2 on the N7 and installed Dolphin Browser which now has the Jetpack built-in and it works well! Dolphin Browser with hacked flash player.

I'm still not clear as to whether I can power the device off safely without itnforcing me upgrade. I'd really hat to brick my n7 by losing flash support. Also where exactly is the update located so I could possible erase it?

It's the zip file in /cache. It will reappear though. Rename /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip. And then don't go into the updates screen again, it will trigger the download which is several hundred megabytes once more. You need to be rooted.
I used the method posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249350
You need to have root access, but it's worked for me so far.

Indeed, just installed this and after a reboot, the prompt has gone away and it tells me the system is up to date. Thanks. And another demonstration that people don't come here simply to get hold of custom roms!
Thanks for all the answers but nobody has yet to give a straight forward answer as to whether I will be forced to update if I reboot my n7. Sometimes I'm forced to reboot when I have a hang up and I'd hate to think when that day comes I'm going to be forced to update to kitkat. I'm also not rooted and would like to stay that way. I know to many of you it seems quite easy but everything I've read makes it seem very daunting and confusing. Kernels, bootloaders, Roms, flashing....its a lot more than I thought it would be when I went android.

I have rebooted many times while the update notification was present and never had the upgrade automatically applied.
I haven't rebooted into recovery though so I cannot say if what I said holds if you do that.
For me, I'd just add an empty line to /system/build.prop
It is an empty line so it is assured not to change any behavior and every OTA update will try and patch build.prop at which point it does a SHA1 checksum compare, finds your current build.prop has been modified, and stops the OTA before it even starts modifying a single file.
This assures you that if by accident you select the OTA to install, it won't actually do anything.
You can do similar things with other files, I just chose build.prop as an easy example.

If you take your time and read instructions carefully its very easy to root a Nexus 7. Either way, why don't you just reboot it and see if it goes to 4.4 and then do a factory reset. That should bring you back to your out of box jelly bean. Of course you'd lose your data but you can back that all up.

Scroll down to "Google Services Framework" and click on that.

Hello, I did that ^^^^^^^^^^ using autostarts and checked it several times to be sure I had it correct.
All seemed good, except today an update from VZW went through on me and I didn't want it to. I looked in the cache dir and nothing was in there, yet the phone kept saying it wanted to install the update. I kept telling it not right now, but after awhile it had a mind of it's own and installed/updated anyhow. My VZW GS4 went from MJ7 to MK2 not even sure what changes it made, I'm still on JB 4.3 and I don't want KitKat 4.4
I don't understand how the update came through and where it was d/l to, I checked yet again and the "SystemUpdateService$Receiver" is disabled, exactly as shown in your pics. The broke my Root, but I still showed custom when it re-booted, so it wasn't too hard to establish Root again. Now I'm very worried that sooner or later they are going to push/force KitKat 4.4 to the S4 and I don't want it; I should have a choice to not accept it, it's my device that I paid for
Any ideas on this before KK 4.4 bites me?
Thanks
