[Q] Xperia arc S internet dead....tried everything, please help - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Been installing quite a few roms in the last year and untimately sticked to UHD 3.0.2 with lupus kernel.
This happend once before, internet suddenly stopped working and the simptoms where having a 3g simbol showing up to then dissappear for minutes.......no way of having any internet connection whatsoever, tried installing different kernel and roms but probably it's something deep into the firmware.......it fixed by itself after a week or more '
Now it happend again, internet is down despite i reinstalled roms and kernel and even went back on .13 stock rom and kernel.....nothing internet is simply down and no 3g simbol coming up from time to time this time....only phone signal and that's it.
Settings are ok, checked 100s of times............i just left the phone charging and all of a sudden it became like this.
I'm back on stock as i said and still nothing.........this pisses me off like few other things on earth. Is there something i can attempt manually to recover any form of internet connection. I need it for work and messaging a lot!
Please help me out guys, or i'll just have to dump this phone in the bin despite the fact that i'm quite fond of it.
Thanks

Looks like you tried quite a lot of things but you did not say you tried another baseband? Worth a try? Just make a note of the baseband your on so you can return to it....

do i need to flash new radio???

hi just flashed rcmix hd, brill rom.
i think i might be having a couple of issues but not sure yet??
my wifi seems to be fine, not tried bluetooth yet.
but when i first started up after flashing i wasnt getting good reception and tried to get on browser but that just hanged.
my android market forced closed on me 3 times straight when i loaded it up.
and my data connection switched to g.
after a little while i got a notification stating that android market had finished partialy restoring my apps??
would this be the cause of data switching to g while trying to go on the browser???
also my battery life seemed poor but had just done the whole custom rom job and didnt really get a chance to charge after??
does this sound like i need to flash a new radio?? or shall i see how it goes for now??
any advice would be great
thanks

[Q] htc desire won't connect to a network

Hi,
Two days back my htc desire suddenly lost connection to the mobile network. I now get a small cross on top of the signal bars and "no service" written on the notification bar. Sometimes this changes to "sos".
The wifi is working fine. t
The only problem is voice and data over the mobile network.
I tried a lot of things:
reboot
flashed a new radio
complete wipe/ factory reset
flashed a new rom
But to no avail.
A strange thing did occur though, at a mall, my phone suddenly started working for a few minutes and then went back to the same state as before. This same thing happened last night too.
I am unable to understand this and request all of you to help.
current status:
Phone: htc desire amoled
s-on
bb: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
miui 17.15
Ring your provider.
S.O.S. Problem

I always get S.O.S, the emergency call thingy!
How to solve this? I tried flashing to CM7 and its fine.
So I assume the problem would be the ROM
Any solution to this? Patches or something?
I would love to continue on using MIUI
Thanks all
Regarding the above problem.. had the same thing... what i did is this..
on dial pad use *#*#4636#*#*
then goto phone information (first one)
scroll down you'll see "set preferred network type"
mine was selected "WCDMA" I changed that to "GSM Only"
Since then no problem of S.O.S has come to me
I am sending it here because I am unable to post in the forum... something to do with minimum of 10 Post.. Hope this helps
Guys thanks for your replies.
I have already done the *#*#4636#*#* bit and it hasn't helped.
Regarding the rom, I was originally on cyanogenmod 7 when this problem started. I re-flashed CM7. Didn't help. Then i flashed miui. the problem remains.
Although I would like to add that over the past two days, at two different locations, I have been able to make one call and recieve one. How this happens, I don't know.
Still trying to figure it out but I just read elsewhere on this forum an exactly similar problem being faced by a few people during the last few days.... so keeping my fingers crossed.
Ah! and one more thing, I have tried sim cards of almost all operators and none work in this phone.
Same problem here aswell,
me too tried every thing,
but non of them helpfull..
Still searching for help
This may seem like a dumb question, but the people experiencing this problem, are you in the same country/region?

A little update in my situation:
I visited another city for an hour yesterday and the phone latched onto vodafone in seconds and worked like a charm but as soon as i got back to base, it was back to its dead state.
This is a really confusing situation because, one moment it seems like its a hardware problem (since none of the operator's sims tend to work in it while in delhi) and then sometimes it seems to be a network problem (as it seems to work just fine in some areas)
Guys, please.... please help. This is so frustrating.
guys i'm still waiting for a reply.... doesn't anyone here have a solution to my problem?
Install cm7, then full wipe and then install freshly your new rom.
I did that way and after that was network connection back.
Sry my bad english!
Sent My Desire.
i understand your frustration, im here just to tell u, i have a different situation which no one has any solution, ive googled and spent 1 whole F()[email protected]((U)#($I)(#U$)(U#)($U day but no one reported the same issue as me..
sigh

Hey this worked but only partially. Now the phone does latch on to network at most places except two: my workplace and home.
And in some places it shows full signal strength but calling is not possible.

Wifi Issues on Stock ICS

Hey guys.
I recently got the Arc and I am quite happy with it (coming from an x10). However I've came across a very frustrating issue with wifi. After a few days using ics my wifi has stopped connecting to the internet! It still appears in the status bar with the symbol as if its working but it comes up with up and down flashing arrows each side of it. If I try to load a web page, or load Facebook, whatever, it's having none of it and it tells me to check my internet connection.
The first time I managed to fix this after a full wipe but I really don't want to have to go to that everytime it stops, it's only been 2 or 3 days since I reset it and it's up to its old tricks..
Just wondering has anyone had a similar issue and if so, how did you get it to work again?
Thanks, Cian.

Can't connect to wi-fi, phone calls take minutes to dial

Hello. I hope someone can help me and explain what's happened to my Xperia Play. My phone is rooted, and I've been running Cyanogen 9 successfully for several months. This all started this weekend:
* Trying to make phone calls like to voice mail, or to contacts causes the phone to go right back to the home screen. However, on occassion, the phone has woken up and begun making the phone calls I asked for over 10 minutes later.
* I can no longer connect to wireless routers. Every time I try to connect to a router that I'm sure is OK (connects fine with other devices), it repeatedly tries to obtain an IP, before it ultimately reports "Avoided poor internet connection".
I thought perhaps that by reflashing the kernal and the ROM things might correct themselves, but I've had no luck. I went from a CM9 RC0 build from 6/30 to a CM9 RC1 build dated 8/3. If anyone can offer any advice, I'd truly appreciate it. Could something in my hardware have gone bad? Is there any chance Verizon will simply replace the phone for me? Thanks for you help.

[Q] Another wifi bug thread, I've tried everything possible.

Hi!
I know there are plenty of threads about the wifi on this phone, I've read every one of them, posted in many places and have had no good outcome.
Here is my (lengthy) story.
Had annoying wifi bugs on stock 4.1.2, seemingly general lack of interest from the phone in connecting to wifi, but would generally connect after a reboot of both modem+phone+ disabling PSM (even then, not always )
6 months on stock go by, thought flashing a custom rom would fix everything and all would be well again, so I flashed PA.
An even more annoying bug showed up,
Turn wifi on > doesn't automatically connect, so I manually go to the wifi settings page and try connecting.
Before trying to connect - Full signal.
While trying to connect - Goes down to one bar while connecting > fails > then goes back to full signal.
Does occasionally connect, but it's rare. Rebooting both phone and the modem does nothing at all, seems to have a mood of it's own.
It's not just my wifi, but wifi at college too, other devices connect to the same access point just fine.
What would fix this? Will pretty much try most things now,I tried flashing NEAK too.
I don't have a data plan either, so my phone is basically useless without wifi, I've resigned to using my laptop all the time.
Thank you for reading this so far, I'd be thankful for ANY advice.
TL;DR :- Annoying wfi bug, tried every 'solution' I've heard of, nothing worked, never buying a Samsung again :crying:
(Attached images of the phenomenon)
UPDATE:- Just like stock, it will only connect if I am a foot away from the router, irrespective of how much signal I have. Even if I have a full signal elsewhere, it won't connect
dude u r running AOSP :silly::silly:
try TW Rom and see if the problem exists

We meet again!
Like mentioned in the post, the only reason I flashed an aosp based ROM was in the desperate hope it'd rid the phone of its WiFi problem.
Thought a custom ROM would do what Samsung refuses to do.
Hope someone has a valid solution for this.

Anyone?
I forgot I already had the range issue for quite a while, even on stock.
I had tried everything, including static IP, wps, and whatever else was stated to work.
Does anyone know of a working solution to this? Is this a hardware/software issue?
