Help Please! - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have a HTC Desire HD phone and it doesn't turn on, but when I try to connect it to PC, it installs qhsusb_dload driver [but always failed]. How can I fix this phone? Is it possible?

You need a USB jig. I'd say its a dead phone, usually an eMMC problem.

Service centre. Say you left it on charge overnight and it didn't boot in the morning. They won't fix it if they know its been tampered with

Short of JTAG, there's nothing you can do. But unless you're an engineer, I doubt figuring out JTAG interface will be simple.
JTAG has been done but its still in testing.
I am sorry to hear about your diamond, may it rip. You could use it as a hockey puck...
I think sending to service is your best bet. I am not sure if they will do the work under warranty, but it's worth a shot.
No one has solution for jtag for this model
we made the same mistake ==> phone killed forever.???
this is the first time that i kill a htc ??

Try sending it to HTC. They likely won't know what's wrong either as nobody in their right mind would do what you did .

Also I thought that there's only one HTC Diamond model, I was wrong &"#?!!!
So others users watch out!! Do not use it!

You can run from desktop.. It worked for me..
MOD EDIT.....ITEM REMOVED
Errr are you sure it's jtag config cable setting? It looks like more another SPL to me?
The device is not recognized by windows as connected(usb), so it's not working at all...

Hi All
I have a frustrating problem with my stock standard s-on wilfire S, it is hard to switch on but when it does the phone goes through all the screens to unlock then shuts off and goes back to the green HTC screen and starts all over again. It will sometimes power into the settings screen (I have reset to factory) but after a short time powers down. The phone goes into vibrate sometimes continuous with orange flashing led when connected to charger. Any thoughts. If it is a software problem can I reload the stock rom from the sd card.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dave, that sounds like a hardware issue, perhaps you should RMA it.

Problem is no warranty, so it looks like I will have to round bin it as cost of repair will probably be more than the phones worth.
Thanks for your help

A silly story, I got this phone from auction thinking it had just a software problem but looks like I have learned a lesson.
Hey, Dave.
Ouch, that happened to me, they replaced 3/4th of the internals.

[Q] how the hell did the local shop is repairing my LG OG(hard bricked) without JTAG?

By mistake i flashed nexus 4 kernel to my og and hard bricked my phone. I went to local shop repairer and they opened the back of the phone and connect many wires to the board and connect it to pc.They did something in their pc(something in cmd, don't know exactly) and they said that software installation process went till 71% and the phone switched off because of low battery. Is this really possible without JTAG? or they telling lies?
That is in fact JTAG Riff. They open the phone and connect some wires to the back of the phone and transfer the needed files to bring back the phone to life.

HTC One M8 bricked

My HTC One M8 got bricked while updating to android 4.4.4 (eye experience). According to futuretel, the warranty is only active for three months without a receipt. I tried locating a reliable phone repair shop in Toronto and its been a nightmare. HTC has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The phone still contains my data. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
please note: the power button is broken

Bricked how? Like, it won't turn on at all? I've seen a lot of people on this site say "hard bricked" when it is something that can be fixed with some guidance.
Does it turn on?

There's a lesson here, always keep your receipts. Also if it was broken already then you should have had it replaced. Unless you caused the damage then they won't replace it regardless because you could be the reason why it bricked

He has two posts, which doesn't really tell his experience with rooting and "bricks", but is usually a good indication. I have a feeling he can fix it with some help.
I could be wrong though. No answer on the "will your phone turn on?" yet.
EDIT: no power button. not bricked. hardware issue. should read the whole post instead of having another sip of beer.

No, the phone won't turn on. However, my computer picks up the device (connects then disconnects). I'm heading to a repair shop just now.

Learnt the hard way. The phone was working perfectly fine except for the power button. After the update, the phone was stuck in a boot loop between update symbol and low battery. I pulled out the sd card and now its just showing a flashing red light. I am going to get the power button fixed just now and get the technician to diagnose any other issues.
Did you happen to buy the device with a credit card? This almost always will suffice as a proof of purchase or receipt.
If your phone was in a loop when the battery died, its not bricked.
update
The phone shows up as QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (com 3)
I'm planning on buying another phone (not HTC)

Its technically bricked but there are tools that you could use to fix it, but I doubt you want to take that much effort in fixing it.
So what was the point of this thread? You obviously don't want to fix it. So you just wanted to whine about it? Good luck on your next phone, don't brick that one too.
Pretty sure my m8 is bricked
Hey i sort of hi-jacked this thread , however it relates to my matter. I tried to convert my HTC into google play edition, I s -off, unlocked the boot loader and rooted it. Now for the fun part I went to flash a google m8 rom and BAM boot loaader came up with tampered and not only that the rom didn't work and now the htc boot screen (the white one) has a lock on the bottom and i can't do anything. I can access TWRP and have flashed other roms to it but it keeps denying them and going to the same htc boot screen with that lock symbol. Anyone please help I just got this phone and feel like I should never gotten myself mixed in this modding business lol . Thanks for anyone that can help me resolve this.

The only viable solution I came across is JTAG. Can you please share those tools? Phones shouldn't be bricking when updating on stock

HTC 10 Not Working After Battery Replacement

The battery of my HTC 10 was in poor condition. The charge was running out quickly. When the battery dropped below 40 percent, the phone was heating up and closing. Recently, the phone heated up again and turned off. I put it in to charger again, but the phone wasn't on. Upon this, I replaced the battery with original one but phone is not turning on and not charging. How can i fix it ? Charger port and cable in good condition. i tried diffrent charger and cable. Still, not working.
Pls help me. Thank you.

Maybe there are more different ideas than yours.
You said "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... " . Is this an idea or a help? You're trying to sabotage my search for help.

What ?
So that's what i get for bringing in ideas, it seems obvious to me that when you say you tried everything and the cables and screen and connections are correct you are pretty much pointed towards a specialist.
"trying to sabotage" ..... I'm baffled with your comment actually. But alright, do and try as you wish i was only thinking out loud but i won't do that anymore.
Good luck with fixing your device.
Kind regards.
First i said need a help about fixing.
Second, you said "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... "
After i said "After trying everything it will be an option". I mean that, i want to try everything. Because technical services too expensive. If they say the problem in motherboard. I will buy a new phone
I suprised when i saw this comment, "Take it to a repair shop or buy a new phone ......... ". People writing here for help. Telling to people "go repair shop or buy a new phone" is not a good approach at the first comment.

That's your opinion. But it is how it is. That's all i have and can say about it. It may be a too straight forward answer for you but saying it differently won't make a change.
