Hello,
I recently learned how to root my phone, and am currently learning how to flash a new ROM to it. In my noob-ness I installed gApps before the ROM that I was trying to install and messed up all my google apps...
Is there a thread that is able to fix this in a relatively easy way or does anyone have any advice that may help?
Thanks,
Mofro
Currently using the Epic 4G Touch/SPH-D710
Untouched Touchwiz ROMs come with Google apps already preloaded. Custom touchwiz ROMS don't include them but you can download Google apps from the play store.

Why not just wipe your system and reflash the rom?

Solved this. Thanks for all the help.

Is there an app to install this or upgrade the one that is on my phone already? I used a custom ROM and it was in there but then when I tried to find it I couldnt. Anyone got the apk for it? Is it even possible? Just curious.
I thought this was being pushed OTA already to 2.1 users. I've seen links to it, but Im in no hurry.
its packaged in a couple ROMs on the Epic ROM Wiki. I have it currently and I'm using AOSP Magic.

Hey guys,
I have attempted sideloading Holo Launcher many times, and it always force closes. Can anyone help me? I am sideloading by uploading to Dropbox and downloading to my Kindle.
Thanks, -x10knight
It may be just be incompatible with the stock rom... I tried it on a jb rom and it works fine.

I find that odd, considering that the stock rom is Android 2.3 and the app is compatible with 2.2 and above.
If you move it to system/app on rooted stock it works

Hi, I'm using androidme lite aosp ROM and would like to use the messaging .apk like the one found in codenames ROM (I mainly want the pop up notification option). I used root explorer and tried overwriting the .apk but I kept getting FC. Can someone maybe make a flash able .zip that would work?
Thanks in advance.
Bump but for stock?

Ya, for stock. Its basically a stripped stock ROM.
I made this one for bamf ROM, it should work with any jb ROM but make a backup first just in case

Hi!!
I just wanted to ask if I have to be first root on my note II in order to install CyanogenMod, that's right?
can I install CyanogenMod rom on my note II without being root?
Cheers.
J.
Yes you need root and a custom recovery

Check out www.galaxynote2root.com for all the info you need on rooting, flashing and recovery programs I have heard this rom can be a little unstable but have not yet tried it. I use WanamLite rom and love it, very close to stock with more benefits and very stable

Read the CM10.1 nightly thread, it has instructions.
Hi,
Just wanted to ask if cyanogenmod is stable enough for my Note II. I am looking for a stable rom... the closest one to the stock because I would not like to get a stone as phone...
Is WanamLite working properly?
Regards and thanks!
I tested both roms for same time, both very stable. However my opnion is that if you want a rom very similar to stock what is the fun? Nothing new to play around.
I'm using now Moon v8, a lot of features, good battery and no issue so far.

Well, sure - I'll have fun installing a rom and all that stuff but I had an iphone and I got tired saving everything before jailbreaking and then install everything.. when a new version was released the cycle again... so I'd like to have a phone with cyanogenmod o whatever mod rom but I don't want to change rom every time... at least I don't want to save my pictures and do a list of apps to download after installing a new rom because last one was unstable.... you know what I mean? I hate Samsung stock.. but works fine.. I think...
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm really new to this whole Android phone thing. I understand almost nothing, including different abbreviations (like cm, what does that stand for?)
So I apologize if I'm asking something that's already written in some newbie guide, I'd love it if someone could refer me to such a guide.
I have some newbie questions:
I've bought a new S4 mini, and I want to install Cyanogen, but I could only find Nightly or RC versions of it, is there a stable version somewhere?
Do I need to install CWM? Or is there another way to root my device without having to install CWM? I want to install as less applications as possible. Unless you guys tell me that installing CWM is a good idea.
You need CWM (aka CWMR for ClockWork Mod Recovery) to flash CM (CyanogenMod, sometimes Cyanogen for short), which currently only has nightlies and RCs for the S4 Mini LTE model only.
The model number for the LTE variant is GT-I9195.
There is also a test release for the international 3G variant (GT-I9190).
There is none for the Dual-sim variant, GT-I9192.
Thanks a lot! Is the RC version of cm "safe"? I don't want to start dealing with dev issues, I just want a comfortable phone to use.
Maybe it's better to install the debloat rom instead of an unstable cm version?
The debloated rom has its fair share of issues. It's a matter of personal preference actually.
I prefer having CM and it's working fine for me on the latest nightly. No pressing issues.

So if I just want to remove unneeded apps (which are consuming CPU / RAM) then maybe the best option for me is to just root my device and remove any app I don't want?
Oh and another question: in a different thread someone recommended wiping /data and /cache, how do I do this? By using ClockworkMod?
Yes and yes.
Removing unneeded apps is also known as debloating. Those unneeded apps are known as bloat ware.
There are explicit options within CWM to wipe data and cache.
I'm newbie in Samsung too, also want to ask which one CWM for stock kernel/Rom? I'm using S4 Mini LTE (GT-I9195). Thanks in Advanced.
hy,
try this link, http://www.youtube.com/user/s4miniarchive?feature=watch , is very useful and explain everything

That is truly odd. I have no issues with downloading Candy Crush Saga on my phone here in Singapore.
Perhaps its a region lock?
Mayb that could be it...thanks
