Firmware and frequencies bands.

I can buy a F240 (K/L/S) in Asia, but can I flash any of the American Roms with everything working properly?

What American Roms? There are no american roms for the G Pro..

There's CM10.1 but its only for AT&T LG-e980

Lol.. I wrote that before I looked in the ROM section. First US available phone that I've seen without any ROMs at all. Great price for a F240 (around $420 USD here).

Haha true! The ATT version is 440

I'm just trying to figure out if any of the 240x phones will work in US/Canada on any 3G bands (AT&T and Rogers). I know it won't for LTE as they don't match at all.

You shouldnt have an issue in the usa
Sent from my LG-F240S using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

So all 3 F240 models (K/L/S) would work on AT&T 3G? So confusing and I've done a lot of googling on Korean 3g bands, etc.

Europe!!

Hi everyone.. I'm planning on going to Europe this summer and I wanted to ask if anyone knows if my phone will work with European 3g... Thanks
Btw.. I already have my sim unlock code from t-mobile..

You should be good. I went to the UK and Singapore with an unlocked Nexus One and it worked great. Just got my unlock code for my T989 as I have a trip to Sweden in 2 weeks. I used Giff-Gaff in the UK and Starhub in Singapore. Study the carriers frequencies before you go and buy a pre-paid sim and you will be good to go.

This phone is not pentaband which means it isn't guaranteed to work on 3g for all carriers. It does have 4 of all 5 bands, the only one you're missing is 900mhz so depending on where in Europe you're going you'll have 3g. You'll have to check the specific carrier you plan on using and as long as they support one of the bands, you'll be fine. (meaning they don't only use the 900 bands for 3g)
This will help. Still trying to find the site I used that told the carriers frequencies.

Variants of Galaxy Note II

I know for a fact that the Korean versions and the US versions are different from the global model. What are some other variations?

What do you mean different? The only thing that changes are software (US Carriers will add some junk) and the radio bands that are supported (although if it's all the same chip, then any N2 could be repurposed with a flash or two ie. AT&T Note flashed to work on T-Mo Note, although they were both using Snapdragon chipsets).
Different as in ROMs and Kernels are not compatible

Yeah, I was talking about the original Note (the Note II hasn't been released yet in the states... so my statement about flashing the AT&T model to work on T-Mo wouldn't make sense). Although I'm very jealous of you internationals, I still gotta wait a week... for the announcement...

1. From the specs that I've actually seen online, SGH-T889 has the UMTS1700/2100 (B4) band instead of the UMTS900 (B8) band of the GT-N7100. All other bands and the rest of the hardware appear to be exactly the same between the US T-Mobile and the International Unlocked variants. Although some places mention that T889 also has a "blocked" LTE band...
2. Also, N7105 appears to have all the same bands and hardware as the N7100, and two additional LTE bands: LTE2600 (B7) and LTE800 (B20). There also appears to be a N7105T variant, which has LTE1800 (B3) instead of the B20 band on the N7105.
...alright, this can quickly become quite a tedious post
...so a little deeper google searching reveals that this information is already being compiled in a more readable format and certainly looks much more complete, too.
e.g. here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II
and here!
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacom...=3877&id11=3826&id12=3851&id13=3832&id14=3853
At least twelve variants... at least on paper, that is:
Samsung Galaxy Note II Variants
00. GT-N7100
01. SC-02E
02. GT-N7105T (LTE)
03. GT-N7105 (LTE)
04. SCH-i605 (LTE)
05. SCH-N719 (CDMA)
06. GT-N7108
07. SPH-L900 (LTE)
08. SCH-R950 (LTE)
09. SGH-T889 (US T-Mobile, LTE?)
10. SGH-i317 (LTE)
11. SHV-E250S (LTE)
Not sure how reliable all this info is, but hopefully it helps to clarify the confusion about the variants (of which there appears to be a lot!) and to make a more educated purchase decision...
There have been a lot of updates to the Wikipedia article referred above, just in the past three hours... hopefully our wiki page http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_2 reflects this info soon, too.

Optimus G Pro versions

Anyone know what the key differences between the models E985, E980, L-04E and F240 are?
Or is it just the freq bands but everything else is the same? In that case I would get the E980 if I want to use it on Telus in Canada?
Looks like: F240 is the international (Korean) version, E985 is for India, and E980 is AT+T (US).
No TV in AT+T version is the main difference afaik.

Which version would you say is suitable for Europe? F240? I want it to work with 1800mhz LTE.

I found this about the supported bands depend on the versions;
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100 - E985
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - for AT&T
4G Network
LTE LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100 - for AT&T
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_g_pro-5254.php
So looks like any of the versions will support 1800MHZ, not sure if that's LTE? Look up your carrier and see what their bands are.

According to wiki, the Koreans have 1800 MHz LTE .
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Here's the only reference to L-04E I could find, for NTT Docomo. Looks like a different phone, with different display, processor, etc. What's up with that?
http://www.theverge.com/products/optimus-g-pro-l-04e/6787
Also, F240 has sub variants... F240S, F240K and F240L
http://japphone4sg.blogspot.com/2013/04/docomo-l-04e-korean-f240-lg-optimus-g.html?m=1
I guess S, K and L are the three Korean carriers, so only the radio is different.

It's only missing Band 5, both models have bands 4, 2, and 17, which are the primary US LTE bands anyway (outside of Verizon's Band 13 that is).
While technically the T-Mobile version is missing Band 30, the AT&T version is missing Band 30 as well.

The T-Mobile one hasn't been rooted yet, though it apparently has an unlocked bootloader. The AT&T model has been rooted, but it appears the bootloader is locked down. Doesn't that suck?

Unlocking the bootloader is harder then rooting for the most part. What im interested in is if the qi charging back from europe are working on the tmobile lg g3....they are not on the att g3. Can you test this!? that would be awesome

YES. EXCLUSIVELY TO SOUTH KOREA  Do not expect for 805 version to come abroad...
and no the LTE radios won't work in the US......
Edit - Actually I am not 100% sure the radios won't work in the US. Everything I've read seems to indicate it is only for Korea, but most articles are also focusing on the new LTE-A radio. I haven't seen anything to indicate what other radios are going to be included.
When can we buy one? It will work down here.
