XDA Premium App - I want my money back! - About xda-developers.com

It took a long time with requests to make the app better, asking for updates and new functions and so on before I finally asked JB media to send me my money back today.
I bought the Premium App in January last year because I wanted to donate my most preferred android development site. Sad to see that they don't care about the thoughts and opinions of their users and did not even update the app for over a year!
There would be so much that needs to be fixed but nothing ever happend. I'd ask other buyers to do the same as I did if you are as unsatisfied as I am, because this is unacceptable, craving money for doing nothing!

I'm mostly online on XDA with my phone. Not finding this thread with the search function is just another brilliant example for the topic!
Thank you anyway, I will post into that thread right away.

its because its in separate tab.. you just need to look beside your current tab heading to find sticky tab which has sticky threads which are important ones before creating a thread in a section

I think maybe you have bad timing, because we just pushed out an update to the premium version to the app store. A few minutes ago. We did a staged release in case there are any issues with it, but either way you should get the new update within 24 hours.
Sorry for the delay, we wanted to push out new updates but this was a major version change which is why there was a gap in updates. Hopefully you'll be satisfied with the changes.

I know that. Just never saw this thread, I swear! I'm not too dumb to use a forum's app, except this app is really, really bad lol. I think the money for the XDA app is better spent for Tapatalk 4, it's even cheaper atm because it's on a 99¢ sale this week.

At least it's more usable now and this is what counts most. I can live with an app that's not eye candy but I barely with one which is a pain in the ass to use.

Why not xda release a app based on forum runner?
Not many of us use forum runner but I find it MORE COMPATIBLE wid xda.
Following are the things I get in forum runner but not on tapatalk/xda app
♣ ability to report a post
♣ mod options for RCs shows as per their own thread not in every thread
♣no reply option present in closed thread (tapatalk gives option to reply even in closed thread bt ultimately says thread locked)
♣member title can be seen without click on profile pic.
Although it has some missing features but they can be added if xda adopts it..
Just my view..
Thanks

so i guess forum runner is the only option left for one who uses xda MAINLY from a mobile wid slow internet (i do report a lot )

As I said, forum runner isn't compatible. The reports done by this app ends up as pm to the entire team, which is not how the browser-based reports work. No matter which app people use, it barely takes 10 secs to switch to a browser to report
So, for the currently forseeable future, tapatalk and forum runner remain incompatible with our reports system. As for the rest, the xda app did get updated recently, so things aren't as dull on that front anymore

PLEASE MAKE A MOVE THREAD BUTTON FOR OPs

We need this more than anything
Looking around xda seeing loads of locked threads and threads asking for help in the development section are just...annoying. And they look bad on the op.
If users were given the option to move there threads to the general section of that forum we could save moderator time and people the embarrassment of a little mistake. It would make sense to grant only the OP this option (and mods) and maybe a report move button that would inform a mod or do an automatic public vote.
This would also allow users with more....neglected forums (such as the Wildfire S to be able to have control over their forum where mods can't due to man power)
Come on xda, let's see this happen.

Well let me see. Subscribed to over 3500 threads that i get emails update on every day, around 600 pms on a slow day about issues, and 6 hours of cleaning up after people. Thats even before i do anything for my device. So yeah it can be but it is a labor of love.
Do you know how much trouble that would cause? If they cant get it right the first time, who's to say they will the next?

Couldn't be any worse than it is now. Hell half the time the mods aren't in agreement on where a thread goes. It happens a lot and it has happened to me. I post. Some mod moves it. Another mod sees it and thinks it is the wrong place and closes the thread! Lol

i would love to see this too. i mistakenly post stuff sometimes and want to move stuff. i just became a senior member and would eventually like to become a mod and developer. moving threads is becoming a must for me. it would be awesome to see what i can do, but need to learn the basics.
This would likely cause more issues than it would solve. Right now the system works pretty well - if you post in the wrong forum you can always report your own thread and ask for it to be moved.

Is anyone working on the WebOS port?

Hey put that flame out!
If no one is working on it, I'll look into building it for the GalNex, though I'm by no means an expert... Just saying, I will if no one else is, someone's gotta do it!
If someone is working on it, fine, I'm not asking for an ETA!

I believe someone is working on it. I also believe it will take some time until a public stable release seeing how it worked at the moment.
im sure there is, devs arent allowed 'coming soon' threads on xda. also even if they did post and have updates to their progress it would be 1 page of information and 50 pages of noobs asking when can they download a 'stable perfect battery use' version that has no bugs at all. so basically it comes down to, waiting or learning on your own and being the one to 'bring it to the group'.

I was that at one point also, when the G1 came out and JesusFreke was making roms, and people had to use ADB to obtain root and be able to flash things. I learned since then and read and read and read. The problem now a days is that most don't care to read a little, or at all. Most of the questions asked in a thread are answered, or been discussed, or don't even belong in the dev section. This is extremely aggravating to the devs, or themers, when they right up a huge OP and no one uses it, and just clutters up their dev thread with useless questions and/or nonconstructive criticism. I don't blame him for quitting or locking the thread, if people feel it's at its prime, then leave it alone and don't touch it anymore. Most of the TouchWiz roms have the best version yet to come, or they came and went a while ago. Most of the mods they incorporated are flashable on your own, anyways. Thank him and respect decisions, or use one of the other 10+ TouchWiz roms.

Jesusfreke was the pioneer of modding for Android. Without him I believe that we would not be as far with android as devs, manufacturers, or even android its self.
Look at thouchwiz its self with the toggles in the notification Window. This came from cm. We the community can end up pushing for devs with true innovation to go back underground where their work is not seen in mass people, Google, or manufacturers. Then android may end up missing what could become greatness all for petty arguments. I follow one such dev in a private forum and it's a shame he was forced to by thing like this.

The application for RD covers more than "Did you release anything?" It also asks how you will help the community in general. Only XDA can sell the work developers contribute here. It's a lot like a university saying they own the rights to your projects. I don't think either side is right, but you know what you're signing up for.

But surely there've been Portal Posts promoting paid apps made by members of this place, that XDA does not profit from? Besides, XDA can't possibly sell an Android ROM, right? I'd like to get the full story on this; I don't like the sound of it at all. What the heck happened that could possibly justify their abuse if it isn't your reason?
well he is going to release a free version after one month
developer of dixperia roms did something like this too but why no one told anything to him?
XDA doesn't seem to be on the right side of things on this.. atleast they don't sound like they have a logical reason to be right.

They do have an area for announcing paid software, but that's the only place it's permitted.
XDA doesn't sell ROMs directly, just advertising and stuff like that.
There could be 1000 reasons, but they're really between the dev and XDA. Only one side of the story is given by a blog post and most people aren't going to admit they were wrong and then ask for donations.

Well known Recognised Developer team that works on 4.4 for Xperia 2011 devices(including xplay), has built their own 4.4.2 firmware. They offer an early access version to people who donate $5 on their website. After 1 month, it all becomes free to the public. Apparently XDA didn't like that, and revoked their recognised developer status and deleted the thread. The development team is asking us to PM the forum administrators and show our disagreement on the matter.
Also, achtojan hasn't posted anything in the past 3 days on xda since this happened, can't blame him.

So basically they should have just made the mandatory donate version on their personal website, then when it goes free they could have posted it on xda and still accept donations. The rules aren't very well laid out concerning this. It certainly doesn't justify revoking their RD status.

They didn't technically break rule number 8. The development team isn't saying "donate now and in a month you will receive it". They're saying donate now and receive it immediately, or wait and get it for free. Or is that still not allowed? I've seen many paid services on XDA, I guess the teams main mistake was posting it on XDA instead of just their website.

The problem is, that all of they're firmware can only be obtained for a fee. That is against the rules. If they posted a link to a donate and free version then it would be fine, but everything they linked to is for money. Not OK.
That makes sense. If that's really the case, I'm on XDA's side.
