[Q] Any good kernels that increase ram - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im using lupus v3 gb+ics stock that allows me to use 372MB of the 512MB of ram(well 400MB ram on stock)
My Q? is is their any kernel to get the full 400/512MB of ram back
or no. Im using r800x on gin2jellybean 2.4.0

no way - 128mb is used for system and adreno 3d accelerator.

Extreme Kernel 00p has 419mb ram,

I've trying swapper 2 with same function as that app in Arco's ICs alpha 4 and it work smoothly.
i flashed cows kernel, now it works fine

Need a stock rom with more memory.

is there any stock rom with lots of free ram included.on enhanced 236 it has only 158mb free ram but its very low for playing around the phone so i need a good stock rom with sgs looks and lots of free ram included.

[Q] Suggestion for a custom kernel/rom

Hi guys:
I bough a Xperia PLAY and got it yesterday. Previously I had a Motorola Milestone CM 7.2.
I really hate all the bloatware sony put on the phone. I have 190 MB RAM (that's a waste of more than half RAM) and 220 MB (almost half internal storage available), so it's a waste of resources.
I need a custom kernel/rom wich gives me
- Speed
- Full control support (touchpads too)
- Max memory
- Max internal space
- Overclocking
- Undervolt
- Camera
- Flash
- Video
- GPS
- Sensors
I try FreeXperia 149 CM9 and I HATE IT, slow, no tethering, no touchpads, circle button problem.
I'm open to suggestions.

True but it can cause problems with data/gsm signal. Your always better off using the recommended baseband as stated in the threads OP

Thanks for answering.
I bough R800a because of bands used by 3G in my country, so if I mess with radios probably I will get stuck without 3G.
Right now I'm trying Dixperia 2 with my stock radio (42), no problems so far.
I'm really enjoying Gamer 4 Rom ICS with doomlord kernel. Plays games great, full touchpad support, video and photo, plus all the ICS goodness. Slight lag. I recommend.

[Q] Android default RAM percentage.

Hi,
My old phone was Sony Xperia Neo V and it had 512MB of RAM, in that I used to run MIUI and I, user was able to use ~320 MB of RAM out of 512MB rest was hidden by OS for it's own use. My current phone is Sony Xperia S which has 1GB of RAM and I can see 636MB for my use. This indicates that Android keep for itlself ~40% of total RAM. I feel reserving 40% of RAM is wastage as I was running the same ICS based MIUI on my previous Xperia Neo V in which Android reserved ~200MB of RAM and it used to work pretty smooth. So, my question is how can I change the % of default RAM reserved by Android so that I can save my 200MB of RAM in my current Xperia S, as I believe 200MB of RAM would be sufficient for smooth running of my Xperia S as it was running in Neo V.
Thanks
Are you running an official/unofficial version of CM?
Settings>Performance>Memory management>Check Allow purging of assets, Kernel same page merging and set zRam to the max percentage. That should free quite a bit of RAM.

If it's based on MIUIAndroid Xperia S ROM (which is stock Sony ICS patched) then chances are that the only way you will get more RAM is using a init.d tweak or RAM manager app to change the RAM management/allocation...
I would suggest supercharging the ROM, search for it

did you manage to get an answer?
i think sony always reserve some of the ram, i can see other manufacturers don't and they are better with multitasking, is there a solution to make use of all the ram that we buy???

Sorry, that was stupid joke. It is normal that your wifes XS shows only 685 RAM, system takes the rest of 1GB.
GPU - 200mb
hardware - 139mb
user/system -685
There are ways to increase but its realy complicated (pro dev level)

RAM in the roms is not so important. It's multitasking what does the job. Currently im using letema's 4.3 and multitasking is incredible. No lags at all despite (more or less) 670mb of user-availible ram and, belive me, i have many apps installed on my phone. But still im waiting for another version of KitKat from Rayman. People say that (even though there is 620mb user availible ram) it's smooth as hell. So yeah, RAM is not so important. And it's not only me who says that. The devs think the same

there is nothing to hog ram with AOSP and CM
AOSP will allways be more ram - multitask freindly then CM10+
and finaly official GB will allways be the best for multitasking then anything else ever made for our XS
(with a non modded system and no root)
Gingerbread 80mb used/605 free. after heavy use for 3 days)

i agree 100%, what i ment is that ram usage may be more efficient even if there is actually less user-availible RAM
BTW: you were supposed to built your own 4.4 rom, isn't that right? how do the things look like right now?

R800X User Recommendations for Firmware and Android

Hello, I recently unlocked the bootloader on my R800x and Rooted it. I then installed lupus JBv8 480p XPLAY along with Super Jellybean v5.5, though now that I've done this, my system is terribly slow.
What alternative should I use? I am not using this as a phone, I just want to use it to run my music software (Oscilab if possible), emulators, and games.
Thanks in advance!

I have both lupus and turbo kernels downloaded for testing purposes on the r800x that I own. I also went with Slim Bean since it is light weight. For Xperia play gaming, it's best to stick with gingerbread roms from what I've read so far. The device is old. Single core stock clock 1ghz (OC to 1.6ghz), adreno 205, ~ 600mb internal (turbo kernel partitioning).
