I posted this in another forum, sorry about the lack of clarification between methods, just try the options i've stated below, hope it works!
Okay, so a while back I had this same problem. My phone turned off, and whenever I plugged it in to charge it did not seem to be charging, odd. The red light was not coming on either. I was told to do 2 things, i cant remember which order so try both.
Option 1:
Plug your phone into your turned on computer with the USB cable and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge using the wall charger.
Option 2 (not likely to work):
Plug your phone into your wall socket with the USB cable and wall charger and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge through your turned on computer using the USB cable.
If neither of these work (as dumb as this may sound)turn off your phone and put your phone in the freezer for 15-30 minutes (This is done to discharge the battery, wont break your phone). When you've left it there for your chosen time, try option 1 again. If that doesn't work, turn the phone off again and put it back in the freezer for the same time and try option 2. If they don't work, i'm sorry I don't know how to help you.

Touch pro 2 not booting!!!!

Hi, recently my touch pro 2 doesn't want to boot. It happened when I was using my phone on the net and the phone just ran out of battery.
Then it turned off. Afterwards I hooked it up on the PC usb charger. So i was awaiting for the phone to charge but then it just decides to 'turn on' unexpectedly - it will show the boot screen and then the windows mobile - then it just blanks and turns off.
I HAVEN'T done any of the following: hard reset or go to booting.
Is there anyway you guys can help me on what step I should do! please! thanks
* P.S
I Have no NOT rommed my phone at all. Just the normal touch pro that came with the phone.
have you tried charging your batterie the normal way instead of true usb? Maybe that wil help.
If that doesn't work and if you are sure that the batterie has sufficiend power try to hard reset.
I have this exact same problem...I'll lay out how I've tried (and failed) to fix it for anyone who knows what they're doing to look at.
I have tried both hard resetting and soft resetting, when hard resetting it does not have enough time to complete before turning off again. Soft resetting just continues the process.
Trying the whole convoluted 'disable usb connections in activesync, then use a usb port sniffer' method also doesn't work, because the phone doesn't stay on long enough.
When plugged into both the computer and wall it has the orange charging light on, but other than turning on uptil the vodafone screen and vibrating a bit, pressing any button does nothing.
Thanks in advance even if no one can help - it'll help me kill time till I can be bothered to go all the way to the vodafone shop!
I've experienced this before and it is happening because the battery is too low to power on your device.
Plug it in to the wall charger and let it charge. It may turn on by itself and then shut down due too extremely low power but if you keep it plugged in via the mains Charger (wall charger) it will get enough power and you'll be back to normal.
joker, if it started the hard reset process and then restarted before the hard reset was complete, you might need to either redo the hard reset process or go it into bootloader mode and re-flash your rom.

This is the way to handle indeed.
Just let it charge from the mains for a while (15 minutes should be enough) before powering it on.
USB just does not provide enough power to charge your device, I have my TP2 on USB throughout the day, and the battery even slowly loses charge as my laptops USB port simply cannot provide enough juice...
Thank you so much guys - it works, and now I feel like a right idiot haha. Well thanks, I'll learn to charge it by mains from now on .

Depends, but certainly regardless USB provides less current than the supplied charger does.
I have multiple laptops, a few of my own at home, several here at work of various makes and models, and it depends.. One in particular seems to provide as much current over USB as the AC charger as the phone charges as fast as I'd expect it to there, others as you say barely charge the phone at all unless it's idle and off. Most of these laptops however do charge the phone, just slowly.

Flashing orange light, here's one reason.

So I got a flashing orange light on my EVO tonight when I plugged it in to charge, phone was dead, wouldn't turn on, dead battery. That's one reason you get a flashing orange light, a completely dead battery, just plug it in and let it sit for a bit and it will get a solid orange light. I advise waiting 20min or so then turning it on.
Side note, car chargers don't always have the power so you can use your phone while it's charging when the battery is really low, had it plugged it and was using it for an hour + and it still died

There are car chargers you can get that will charge the same as your wall charger. Read it and see if it says 1000mA.. There are also adapters that plug into 2 usb ports at 500mA equaling 1000 when charging your phone. Most car usb port chargers have 2 slots or more so its possible. You can also use the adapter method on your computer to receive the full 1000mA charge.
I'm using my palm pre car charger (original). I was streaming Pandora n checking my Facebook and it charged till it was full (green light n all)

Mine charger works for my car, but my moms has a usb port built into the car and that's the one that wouldn't keep my phone alive.

My EVO Shift completely discharged and when I plugged it in to recharge it, I got the same problem - amber light would flash 3 or 4 times then stop, it would not charge and not turn on. I removed the battery for 10min. With the battery removed I plugged in the USB cable into the computer and phone, pressed the power button, unplugged the USB, pressed the power button again, replaced the battery, plugged in the USB and the amber light went solid and appears to be charging now.
BTW, I'm posting this because the OP's solution of plugging "it in and let it sit for a bit" didn't work, it was plugged into the wall adapter all night and didn't charge. I could only get it to do so using the steps above. cheers.
If you happen to be near a Sprint store and the "let it charge for about 20 minutes until solid orange" didn't work, take your battery to them. They can boost it on their battery machine. I see a lot of customers just for this very reason.

I've had my EVO for just a few days and I got the abrupt shut down followed by flashing amber light also. The phone was charging off the usb of my laptop at the time. When i unplugged the phone the light turned off and the phone would not turn on. I thought I fried it because I did not know what flashing amber meant. What was strange about it was that not only did I not receive the usual "battery is nearing 15%, please plug in" notification but the phone powered off when I was reading an article about things to do to prolong battery life. Anyway, I proceeded to charge the phone from an outlet and now things seem to be fine.
I am having a similar problem with my HTC Incredible 2 on verizon. Last night it was charging just fine, and when I woke up this morning it was off and it won't turn on or do anything. I can plug it in and if I hold the battery it will flash the orange light a few times but it always stops. I've tried the fixes in this thread and nothing...what can I do?
It was still almost half way charged when I feel asleep last night so the battery wouldn't have run down. The only thing I'm worried about is if the charger did something to the battery but it seems unlikely as its a charger I've used often.

I tried bryank909's method and that worked for me too, thanks a lot !
EDIT : after a little time the LED switched off . So I retried the trick and it's not working anymore...

When the amber light is blinking, it basically means charging, but there is not enough turn on voltage to power on the device. If you were previously charging it > remove the battery for 5 minutes > replace it > charge the device on a WALL outlet, NOT a usb charging, i.e. computer, tv, xbox, etc. You should be good to go after that.
Well, when I plug it on a wall outlet and always this switching amber LED...
The fact is that this charger is working well with my other phone (HTC Sensation)
I'll try another charger if I found it !
Hello
This happens on my HTC HD2 when it's on the car mount and used as a GPS, and when there's too much sun hitting the device!
I know I should put the device in the shade, but for that, I'd have to buy a new car mount system, annoying...
In my case of desire sv which suddenly died and was "amber blinking", I had to just push the battery a little bit for it to start working again. Until that point of physical battery adjustment, I tried many options for the "amber blink" to go away.
Thank God, the phone is alive. Apparently, as I understand, the amber blink is to indicate that the battery is not present - perhaps. :on't Know::

[Q] Continuous reset after battery drained to 0%?

I let my phone's battery run out to zero. Then let it sit for a few days, I'm on vacation and I don't need my phone. Now, I am recharging my phone, but something strange happens. The phone is off, and the amber light shows that the battery is charging. After a few minutes, the phone turns itself on and the amber light goes off. The battery does not have enough juice to complete startup, and the phone dies halfway through boot. The battery then begins charging, phone turns on, etc. It's been doing this for several hours now. I can't turn the phone off while it's booting, as the OS to control the keys is not yet working. Any help, I've no idea!
5 minutes in charge should give you about 7-8% battery, enough to get it up and use it for 5 min or so. Sounds like you have a dead battery.
Hmm...doesn't seem possible, the phone is only 2 months old! I'll keep it connected and see what happens. Any idea why the phone turns itself on when not commanded? The problem isn't really the battery, the problem is that the phone won't stay off long enough to recharge fully.
Somebody else posted a thread with what sounds like the same problem -- just a few lines below yours. And devis posted the same answer there -- which sounds like the right answer.
If you have access to -- or go buy -- a new battery, that would be the thing to try.
I'm not a battery expert, but I think it's not a good idea to let the battery -- any Lithium battery -- go down to zero-dead. (That is, you should turn it off or charge it up when it drops below 10%-ish.) That could explain how a 2-month-old battery could die (if it is dead).
Assume you're trying to charge the phone with the AC-wall charger, not connected to the USB port on a computer?
If you can't turn off the phone to keep it from rebooting, I suggest you take out the battery, put it back in and let it charge for a few hours. I would just be careful to not accidentally turn on the phone. Hopefully this will bring your phone back. I read on another thread that if the battery drains completely, it may need to charge for a reasonable amount of time before you can boot it back up.
happens to me whenever i dont notice my battery draining to 0%..
it dies, and i try to turn it on.. turns on, then dies on boot.. plug in charger, and it goes through an endless cycle of turn on and die on boot.
take the battery out and put it back in, but don't push the power button. let it charge for 10-15 mins to let it get enough juice to boot all the way.. then continue charging it
This will also happen when the charger is not putting out enough power such as via usb cable. Make sure the phone is off and use an AC charger if you can.
For the archives, the problem was that the USB port on my computer went bad. I plugged it in to another computer and the phone charged normally. Now I have a broken USB to repair...on a laptop. Should be fun...

If you have the AC wall charger that works better anyway. Some USB ports of some laptops won't work at all -- not because they're broken but because they don't put out enough power -- by design.

Red led blinks and phone never turned on

Guys i am on Insert Coin Rom.
And tonight i ran out of battery and when i came home i put my phone on charger . And later switched it on and saw it is 21% and then again switched it off and then left it over charger and after few min i remove it from charger and tried to turn it on it doesnt turn on.
And now i charging it over usb at my pc and now red led blinking and it doesnt turn on too!!!
What to do?
This is something i havent herd of before...maybe another member can help you!
have you tried switching on with vol button to get into bootloader?
Red blinking LED means very low battery (not enough to power on the phone), best to charge it with wall plug for at lest 1hr and the phone should turn on again.
USB charging is very slow and might not work when red LED is flashing.
I don't think the phone will charge when switched off with clockworkmod recovery installed.
Don't worry, this happened to me before with custom ROM, just leave it plug in to wall charger and the phone will reboot after 1 to 2 hrs, then it will continue to charge normally.

[Q] Phone won't turn on, solid orange light?

So anything I can find about this kind of issue talks about a blinking orange light. That's not this.
The phone died yesterday from low battery, no big deal -- plugged it into the wall charger, expected it to be fine in a few hours. 2 hours? Won't turn on. 4 hours? Won't turn on. 8 hours? Won't turn on.
It's now 12 hours later and the phone still has a solid orange light and will not turn on at all. Plugging it into a USB charger connected to PC will not recognize the phone at all, just the solid orange light again. But for now, keeping it plugged into the stock wall charger. Normally, after less than an hour, I could at least turn it on while it charged... something's up.
Any ideas?
Did you un plug the charger and tried powering on ?
Try holding the volume down and power buttons simultaneously.
If it doesn't help, a trip to the service center is a must.
Try another charger. Exact same symptoms for someone else. Fixed by using another charger.
Try this bro. Ha dthe same issue
I had the same exact issue that you are having.
try this frist HOLD VOLUME UP AND POWER BUTTON FOR 10 SEC that shud do it.
if not then plug in your phone to a charger and try the same step again. It shud do the trick Bro. Best of luck ma man.
