Just curious. I'm running ParanoidKangdroid 4.2.2., and i need to block certain calls. Can this be done, using my rom? Thanks for any feedback.

Not sure how to completely block calls, I know you can call/ speak with your carrier and they can block calls that way.
BUT
If you go into your app drawer and select the people icon, find the number/numbers you Dont want to hear from anymore click their contact info and when the full page pulls up, hit the menu button and it will have an option to send all of that contacts calls straight to voicemail.
Hope this helps, if it does tickle that thanks button.

Has anybody here come across any voicemail issues while using their Incfredible? Whenever I use the stock sense 2.0 ROM and I have a new voicemail, I call my voicemail, try to type in my password, however it doesn't seem to acknowledge that I am even doing anything. I'll type in my password, press pound, and it'll ask me to enter my password. I tried resetting the password, still no issues. I can't clear the notification so its there forever pretty much. I have like 8 new voicemails right now. I know these ROMs are popular, I am curious as to how nobody else has come across this problem, as I couldn't find a thread anywhere.
Thank you for your time.
Set audible tones to short or long in call settings menu (I think, I don't use sense roms..)

I'm on rooted new ota. Ever since the update my text messages are showing in call log. When I select the view by option and change it to all calls it works for a while and then reverts back to showing text messages as well. I've searched but haven't found any solution. Is the a mod or other answer. Also, how do you kill the action where the screen turns on when receiving a text?
Have you try using go SMS? There is an option for the screen turning on and it won't appear in you call log I think

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm really looking for a mod rather than using a 3rd party app.
Last night I kept receiving amber alerts at 3 am. This morning again at 8am and its really starting to piss me off. How can I opt out of receiving these alerts?

Look in the settings for messaging.
It should be under emergency messages.

Yes go onto your messaging app and press the menu button then settings scroll down to emergency alerts then uncheck amber alerts, and whatever else you don't want.. Presidential alerts cannot be unchecked tho.. Hope this helps

i hope a custom rom can rid us of his B.S.!! i registered [ Presidential alerts] as spam in the messaging app menu will it work to shut his piehole?
My best guess is that either the messaging apk from a Canadian or International ROM should work.
I can't help but wonder if this one will eventually send a (hopefully incorrect) "duck and cover" message... It wouldn't be the first time either. (Stumbled on that a few weeks ago and thought it'd be interesting in this context.)

yes it was the only solution for stopping the unwanted amber alerts.I am agree with your suggestion.
The presidential alerts would be something where there's immanent risk of life.

Thanks for this. I was getting annoyed with all of those.
Hello,
I currently like the way the stock messaging app is, and have been unsatisfied with Handcent and GoSMS. My only only gripe is how the screen turns on when a SMS is received. I installed FreeGS3 and was moderately satisfied with it, however once it came to phone calls I had an echo of myself through my speaker, despite whether or not I have a headset plugged in or a bluetooth headset. So I reverted to stock again, but really like the SMS options that they had in FreeGS3. I'm not here to fix the echo, so please do not bother, I am not a noobie but this is the first post I've ever done on XDA as I am not a big question asker. I generally figure things out on my own but am stumped.
I tried installing the FreeGS3 messaging app (SecMMS.app) and it does not show the advanced options that show up in FreeGS3. Is there any way to stop the screen from turning on on stock [rooted] when I receive an SMS? Obviously the makers of FreeGS3 managed to implement that setting in the messaging app, so did I copy the wrong app?
Thank you!

That's the exact option that I'm looking for, however it is not in stock Sprint, as indicated in my screenshot here:
I know FreeGS3 by Team Sonic added it back somehow.

Any updates as to unlocking that setting in the app?
[awaiting my minimum post count to ask the teamsonic developers how they modded the stock app]
You might be able to just replacd your mms.apk with the other one that has that feature...might work, might not

I know this is retarded but I have got my phone set to flash the camera flash when i receive a text or call and now i can't get rid of it
I have so many apps with so much functionality i cant remember which one had the setting in, i'm certain it's not a native OS function
is there any recommendations to reset this to default without uninstalling half my apps
yes i have googled/xda'd it and cant find an answer + yes i have searched high and low through all the apps
I would really appreciate if anyone knows of a quick solution!
