Hi guys..
I bought a used HTC One X. It came with stock sense, and I'd like to start flashing custom ROMs.
So, I flashed a recovery and unlocked the bootloader. As far as I know, it's unlocked. When I boot into bootloader, in pink and white at the top it says " *** UNLOCKED*** ".
I am still S-ON.. not sure if that matters at this point.
Anyway, I'm trying to flash the latest jellybam rom via fastboot and I'm getting an error message:
FAILED (remote: not allowed).
Anyone know why it's locking me out? It won't let me do much.. I can't fastboot -w, I can't flash roms.. I can flash a recovery and a boot.img, but no rom..
Help! - thanks
Why don't you flash via recovery? Flash cwm or twrp, boot into recovery, flash rom and then flash boot.img by typing "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and "fastboot erase cache". Then you should be good.

Hey, thanks for the reply..
I can't flash in recovery because my phone is completely wiped. There is nothing on my SD card. I'm not sure how to get the .zip file to the phone so I can flash it that way.. any ideas? (right now I'm running cwm 5.8.3.1)

After you get into recovery mode goto "Mounts and Storage/ mount usb storage" and confirm with power button. Now connect it to your pc and you should see it as a removable drive. Here you can put the rom file into your empty storage.

I just googled that, and it looks like I need to try a different recovery. I'm going to download the Team Win 2.6 and see if that will work. http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/endeavoru

Not a pm but a message that you'd been quoted.
Flash TWRP or Philz Touch recovery (recommended) and do the same with "Mounts and Storage / mount usb storage". If everything else fails, you can always flash a stock ruu, put the needed files onto your sdcard and flash as usual afterwards.

Hi.
It happened to me earlier and I've seen a few people in the same boat.
So you flashed a zip, rebooted and stuck at splash. When rebooting to recovery it goes and sticks on splash and the only thing to work is fastboot.....what to do?
Don't panic its not a brick.
Hold power 7 seconds to restart phone, when off hold vol down to enter HBOOT.
Once in HBOOT press power to enter fastboot.
First try 'fastboot erase cache' and then 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' this should do the job, if this don't work, reboot into fastboot and try below.
On your pc open cmd and change directory to where your adb and fastboot are. Once there use 'fastboot oem lock' your bootloader should now say Relocked I think.
After that download RUU specific to your handset and run. This should install fine and return you to stock.
After done you may need unlock bootloader again, I did via HTCDEV and then reflashed recovery with 'fastboot flash recovery *recovery name*
Job done, phone restored, panic over

Hope this helps
So here a method which always works (many people have issues with flashing RUU's etc. having a bootlop.)
Download a RUU from here, thanks to Football!
Now open the .exe and make sure that it fully started.
Don't click anything, just go to windows icon and search for %temp%.
You will now find some folders, just search through these folders for the ROM.zip.
If you found it, you can copy it to your desktop or somewhere else.
Extract it with WinRar,7-zip or something like that and take the boot_signed.img and system.img.
Now copy the two files into the folder where the fastboot.exe is placed (if you have installed the Android SDK, it should be in platform-tools)
Plug in your One X, go into the bootloader and go into fastboot mode.
Navigate with the cmd in the folder with the fasboot.exe and the two .img's.
Now type in that:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
After that:
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
If everything worked, just reboot:
Code:
adb reboot

If your cid is none. You can't flash ruu because of 131 error.
This is what I did..
Flashed the official recovery from Bronco's thread.
Flashed LeeDroid... was at 50%.. then flashed ROMeOS, was down to 35%.. started setting up.. came down to 15% when all of my settigs were complete...
Rebooted to recovery for wiping cache and dalvik so I could just put the phone to charge.. did not reboot.. just went into Splash loop...
Can go into bootloader/fastboot... tried erasing cache.
Panick-stricken, reflashed the interim recovery, as I knew for a fact that I could charge it while off - charged over night.. this morning still on splash-loop.
Just flashed the stock recovery and turned off and put it on charge. Locked the bootloader (says "re-locked")
Downloading the stock rom.. i am hoping this is the exact stock as CID may not let me flash it..
I think now the only way left is to hope that the stock flashes and the phone boots..
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Can you effing belive it... sleepless night.. countless downloads... A simple factory reset - and its fixed!!!!!!

I used this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
To try and upgrade my phone to JB. Followed the instructions to the tee. Unless I used wrong boot img's. Only thing that works now is fastboot. I've tried installing recovery many times. All I get is a black screen once I select recovery setting.
What can I do to install the bloody recovery successfully?!
In fastboot you need to do fastboot erase cache
then you should be able to boot into recovery.
You might be able to wipe the cache from your toolkit but i can't check as I'm not at a PC

Done all that several times.
What I noticed was, when selecting recovery. The screen wouldn't just be black, it'd be lit up. I navigating to where mount USB mode was, lo and behold it actually worked. So my issue is more of, the recovery menu not showing up. It's there and works. Not the menu. Was working previously before I went JB Q_Q
Hmm. That's an odd one.
Just to discount a bad flash can you test just booting the recovery from fastboot rather than flashing it.
Are you capable of using fastboot from the command line.
If so re download your recovery.img and copy it to your fastboot directory and run the command fastboot boot recovery.img
It should boot to recovery again but this version has not been loaded from the recovery partition so it will tell us if you just have a bad flash or not
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yes I can use fastboot commands. Using the command you provided, phone was stuck on the "htc quietly brilliant" screen.
Is the phone locked or unlocked ?
What is your Hboot version ?
Can you enter recovery mode ? did you "install" the recovery that comes with the tool ?
If you can post a picture to your bootlder , that would help

Hboot 1.36.0000
Unlocked. I upgraded from 0.94 HBoot. I can install everything with that tool. Issue is, recovery menu isn't visible. I've done research and seen some cases where backlight isn't on, but that's not the case for me. Backlight is on, and screen itself if on. Nothing is visible but I can touch it and same actions occur as if I were to select it normally. As for pic, I'll try. Have no camera to use.
Still no luck. Nothing I've done makes the recovery menu visible. Did the same process on w8/w7. No difference.

I think I've reflashed a good, 10+ times. Time to try again.
OH, one thing I learned, this may be useful for people who are stuck in bootloops:
If you want to force your phone to turn off and charge, go to fastboot mode, scroll down and select power down. Works like a charm! No script needed to barely charge phone.
EDIT: Nope, still nothing. Anyway I can wipe the recovery partition?
Double edit: Forgot to mention, when executing "fastboot boot [nameOfRecoveryImage].img phone always hangs on HTC quietly brilliant screen.
It should only hang if you are locked bootloader or you are running the first hboot that came on phone release 0.46
To erase the recovery do fastboot erase recovery then you can try flashing again

That recovery that I'm runnin is the CWM you sent. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the first option is reboot phone, which is what I selected and only way I can tell that I have a half ass functioning recovery.
Can I wipe my recovery partition somehow? Maybe that'll fix everything.

Just before Christmas, my Rooted One X decided it had a OTA update it wanted to do, and tried to install said update.
But once it turned off to reboot, it no longer boots!
It just stays on the HTC Splash screen till the battery dies
I can get it to the Bootloader, but that's about it, on the boot loader This is what it looks like (im unsure if the top messages are normal or not!)

When I try to go to recovery, it just shows a pic of Android and a loading bar for a second or two, then reboots and loops on the HTC screen again, and the exact same thing when I try to 'Factory Reset'
Also, it will NOT power off, you can hold the power button, and it will do off, but instantly will try and boot back up
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Even if it means going back to a stock rom.
If you need any more info, please feel free to ask and ill try my best to answer.

I had similar problems, I reflashed cwm and erased cache through fast boot erase cache, at least twice.
This finally allowed me to boot into recovery and reflashed another rom (with the proper boot.img flashed of course).
It's very important that you erase cache

Im looking at installing the Android Revolution HD 18.0 Rom, but im a little confused on what im needing to do to get it all working correctly..
As I said above, im use to just sticking a single zip on the SD and installing back on my old HTC Hero haha
Also, is there any way of mounting the SD card without having to boot the phone up?...
I know you cant do it in the Clockwork recovery sadly!! :s
You can do it in CWM or TWRP. Just click mounts and storage and then mount USB storage. I think what you should do is run an RUU and then unlock boot loader and flash ARHD 18 like any other ROM.

Otherwise you can use this ruu
http://www.htcruu.com/securekey.php...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
Relock the bootloader with fastboot command
Fastboot oem lock
And then run the ruu with admin rights !
It will give you the latest hboot and stock JB software
Edit : its best to get to the point, are you on the stock rom, stock kernel, custom recovery
Flash this recovery back
http://db.tt/U5CK4noo
Put the phone fastboot usb mode and copy the file to the fastboot folder (rename it to recovery.img)
Then the fastboot command
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Reboot the phone and do the software update again.
Try flashing back stock recovery, if it still doesn't install then try the ruu.
Sent from my faster than SGS3 HOX.
I was recently trying to flash the JellyBam rom and it was saying Installation aborted (Status 7)
i read up on it and it told me to format the data and cache and system. i did all that and it still did the same error
so i just rebooted the system and now its stuck on the HTC quietly brilliant. screen
someone help please !

hold the power button and vol down, then you should get into bootloader, if doesn't work ,it means try again until it works
getting into the bootmenu isnt the problem tho i flashed the ROM boot.img and CWM recovery.img againt went into recovery tried to install the zip but it wont let me in because it sais it can't mount the sdcard :S

hey guys
i am stuck on the HTC boot logo
I was rooting my 2nd desire and seemed to have problems.
I updated my hboot to cm7.2 which i dont on my primary device.
After doing this when i turn the phone on now it just sticks at the HTC logo.
I dont have CWR as i didnt get that far into the process.
Any help would be very much appreciated

I'm assuming you have s off since you were able to flash an hboot.
The reason for it getting stuck is because the cm7r2 hboot contains a smaller system size which probably doesn't accommodate the stock ROM. What you need to do is boot into hboot, flash a custom recovery.img (using the appropriate fastboot command), then do a full wipe and flash a rom that fits into the smaller system size of cm7r2 hboot.

Are you able to get an output from the device using "adb logcat"? If so, most probably you have a boot loop. Try with another hboot. If not, perhaps you have bricked the phone. Hopefully you have a fastboot binary at hand.

Logcat? He cant as he is stuck on splash screen, android needs to be started (bootanimation atleast)
Another hboot? That makes no difference because a hboot is just ur phones memory layout.
Solution = boot into fastboot, flash recovery (4ext), boot into recovery, full wipe, reboot recovery, flash rom, reboot and enjoy :cyclops:

fastboot getvar all
hopefully it will give u the details and we can find another ruu.
EDIT: just realized, did u flash stock hboot or downgrader from alpharev? any ruu wont work unless ur on stock hboot

so pull the battery out n back in then press back + power. It should do something, once u done that, plug it into pc and see if anything comes up on screen
edit: just seen the fastboot output.. ur supercid?? 11111111 cool
---------- Post added at 11:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 PM ----------
ul need to flash stock hboot before u can run a ruu coz the system partition size on cm7r2 hboot is too small. google "alpharev" and download the stock hboot img (bravo_alphaspl.img) and check the md5 and put it in the same folder as the fastboot folder on ur pc then flash it via fastboot commands.
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img

yh it wont, that hboot just changed ur phones memory to stock so now a ruu can fit into system partition. Now.. u can either try the 2.3gb ruu again or download another from "shipped roms"
the one u should dowload is this one below coz its the same version-main 2.29.405.5 as the one in ur post (fastboot getvar all command) so click this LINK and download the ruu what i posted below.
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe

Sure mate i will get that for you in a second
What does this stuff list for you?
I am having one other slight problem now with the SD card. The SD card worked fine as i placed the ROM and GAAPS onto it.
When i went into recovery i was able to flash those file.
When the ROM loaded up it said on the status bar that the SD card was damaged.
I took the SD card out and put it into my computer and it worked fine there, i also re checked it in the recovery of the phone and it worked again.
It just doesnt work and comes up on the statud bar damaged SD card.
I am pretty sure that its not a problem with the ROM as i have 2 HTC desires and i am using the same ROM on my main phone with no problems.

The getvar details are all good.
What recovery do u use? And also have partitioned ur sdcard?
