hey guys
i am stuck on the HTC boot logo
I was rooting my 2nd desire and seemed to have problems.
I updated my hboot to cm7.2 which i dont on my primary device.
After doing this when i turn the phone on now it just sticks at the HTC logo.
I dont have CWR as i didnt get that far into the process.
Any help would be very much appreciated

I'm assuming you have s off since you were able to flash an hboot.
The reason for it getting stuck is because the cm7r2 hboot contains a smaller system size which probably doesn't accommodate the stock ROM. What you need to do is boot into hboot, flash a custom recovery.img (using the appropriate fastboot command), then do a full wipe and flash a rom that fits into the smaller system size of cm7r2 hboot.

I see what your talking about, i flashed this bootloader onto my main phone for the purpose of creating more space.

Are you able to get an output from the device using "adb logcat"? If so, most probably you have a boot loop. Try with another hboot. If not, perhaps you have bricked the phone. Hopefully you have a fastboot binary at hand.

Logcat? He cant as he is stuck on splash screen, android needs to be started (bootanimation atleast)
Another hboot? That makes no difference because a hboot is just ur phones memory layout.
Solution = boot into fastboot, flash recovery (4ext), boot into recovery, full wipe, reboot recovery, flash rom, reboot and enjoy :cyclops:

hopefully it will give u the details and we can find another ruu.
EDIT: just realized, did u flash stock hboot or downgrader from alpharev? any ruu wont work unless ur on stock hboot

so pull the battery out n back in then press back + power. It should do something, once u done that, plug it into pc and see if anything comes up on screen

ul need to flash stock hboot before u can run a ruu coz the system partition size on cm7r2 hboot is too small. google "alpharev" and download the stock hboot img (bravo_alphaspl.img) and check the md5 and put it in the same folder as the fastboot folder on ur pc then flash it via fastboot commands.

yh it wont, that hboot just changed ur phones memory to stock so now a ruu can fit into system partition. Now.. u can either try the 2.3gb ruu again or download another from "shipped roms"
the one u should dowload is this one below coz its the same version-main 2.29.405.5 as the one in ur post (fastboot getvar all command) so click this LINK and download the ruu what i posted below.

Sure mate i will get that for you in a second
What does this stuff list for you?
I am having one other slight problem now with the SD card. The SD card worked fine as i placed the ROM and GAAPS onto it.
When i went into recovery i was able to flash those file.
When the ROM loaded up it said on the status bar that the SD card was damaged.
I took the SD card out and put it into my computer and it worked fine there, i also re checked it in the recovery of the phone and it worked again.
It just doesnt work and comes up on the statud bar damaged SD card.
I am pretty sure that its not a problem with the ROM as i have 2 HTC desires and i am using the same ROM on my main phone with no problems.

So I believe the HBOOT is corrupted, but I'm not 100%. When I boot, I can get into HBOOT, when I try to boot to recovery, factory reset, or anything but fastboot and reboot, I get the white HTC Incredible screen, then a black screen with two white stripes down either side. Anybody seen this before? Rooted with ClockworkMod Recovery. Can't get to CM Recovery. Is there a way to flash HBOOT?

Yes you can flash hboots thru your current hboot as a PB31IMG.zip. You can get the hboots here http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/. However i dont think thats going to fix your problem, it sounds like you may have the wrong version of cwm installed. What version are you currently on and is your screen amoled or slcd?
Not sure if this matters but they have an unlocked hboot as per their other thread.
Edit: disregard my previous RUU comment.

Oh, if your on the new hboot there is no way to downgrade it. So you would have to try to reflash the new hboot again.
Understood. How will that affect S-ON vs off and the unlocked bootloader?
Also, how can I re-flash to the newest HBOOT as you suggest?

If you are s-off you will stay s-off. If your s-on you will stay s-on and can root with my tutorial. Even with an unlocked bootloader it will still say s-on or off. I do not have an hboot only image in hand, when i get to my pc i will make one. Or you could just do the ruu from the htvdev unlock site. That will reflash the hboot and the entire system.
EDIT: Here is a PB31IMG.zip of hboot 1.02, http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/Hboot_1.02/PB31IMG.zip. Place the file on your sdcard in no folders, boot into hboot and it should automaticly find the file and prompt you to press vol up to update.
HBOOT 1.02.0000 correct? Just want to be sure. If that's the one, I'll re flash right away. Thanks for all the help!!

Correct you are already on 1.02 right.
I am. About to flash it.
Edit to the edit. Somehow didn't process what you were saying. Put the .zip on the root of the SD, popped it in, booted to HBOOT, it grabbed it immediately. Tested Recovery and Clear Storage, same story. Take that back. Clear storage seems to be working, Recovery is not. Recovery hangs on the black screen with white stripes on either side. CWM corrupt?
Can't get to RECOVERY. I can get it to boot into HBOOT, as soon as I select anything else it goes to the black screen. First shows the white HTC Incredible screen, then it goes black. Seems like it errors out because the white stripes look like the edges of the prior white screen. Can I use adb to push recovery straight to the first HBOOT screen?
Edit: force HBOOT into FASTBOOT from adb I mean, and then kick of the recovery from there?

I was actually wondering about this. Sorry to sidetrack but know if it can do fastboot erase or fastboot flash? If so I want to get it setup on my Dinc to simplify kernel testing. I assume eng or unlocked bootloader are needed so I'd have to update to 1.02, still have s-off and then use the website to unlock.

So you cant select fastboot from the hboit menu either? The only other way i know but not sure if it would work for you is to try to boot normaly and when it gets to the white screen where it gets stuck keep trying to enter adb reboot bootloader and see if it will connect. If it works it will take you to hboot with fastboot usb already enabled.
I can get to FASTBOOT from HBOOT.
So, get to FASTBOOT and then, in adb... I can make the logical jump that far, I'm not making the connection after that though.

If you can get to fastboot then do this
Download cwm recovery.img http://dinc.does-it.net/Guide_Root_New_Hboot/recovery.img and place it on your pc in the same folder as the fastboot.exe file.
Open a cmd prompt on your pc while in hboot with fastboot selected and then type " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ".
Ps your hboot does still say unlocked at the top right?
Never mind. Pushed recovery. Rebooting now.
Edit: beautiful!! got it. Thank you, AGAIN, for all the help. XDA community in general, and especially cmlusco!

Yes it seems with 1.02 you get all the extended commands. I do have the 0.77 eng bootloader, which allows the same commands. I dont think you can downgrade from 1.02 now, even with s-off i may be wrong. I have been reluctant to upgrade to 1.02, not sure why, and instead just flash back to the eng hboot if i need the extended commands. Hope you get the 5 vibes worked out.

Just curious if you did an unlock and flashed the stock recovery prior. If you didn't unlock (wipes data) then you don't have to mess with recovery.

Reflash the recovery in fastboot. Get 4EXT Touch recovery, boot into fastboot and write in cmd
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
u can get latest 4ext tecovery in my sig, just click PB99IMG 4ext recovery and extract the zip file then put recovery.img in ur c:\ drive on ur computer, put ur phone into fastboot (with ur phone off hold back button + power) and plug it into ur computer (so it says "fastboot usb") then open fastboot command window and type -
fastboot erase recovery
(then type)
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
or... u could just do it the PB99IMG method, instructions in that link.
ps: next time post problems in desire Q&A

Damn. It's not working - neither ur way, nor the alternative solution.
When i type fastboot flash recovery, the console says "sending recovery <3784 KB>...." and then it freezes. There is a greeen rectangle in the left corner of the smartphone screen, but nothing happens.
When i tried the alternetive way (with recovery.img on sd card) HBOOT hasn't seen the image.
EDIT: I put ZIP on sdcard, HBOOT installed recovery, but it still freezes on HTC logo screen.
when u used PB99IMG to install recovery did u try enter recovery or just reboot?

1 more thing, Have u got HTC Sync installed? i think that it interfere's with fastboot n that. u only need the drivers installed.
U can get bootloader so it should be fixable, its just nothing is working lol.
The only thing i can think of is going back to s-on :crying:
you would have to flash alpharev downgrader, flash stock hboot and then run the 2.3 upgrade from bootloader. this is last resort so maybe someone can confirm first before trying. if it went well then u can just use revolutionary to gain s-off and instal CWM recovery
i wouldn't mind going on s-on again. But can u do that without ADB mode available?

not 100% sure but u can do it using the PB99IMG method. Basically u have to extract the rom.zip and rename it to PB99IMG.zip, put on ur sdcard then hold volume down + power then bootloader will ask u to update. The same as before. just make sure u flash Alpharev downgrader first. (i know this works as i done it myself 2 month ago)
if u want i can post both downgrader and rom zip files if u want as PB99IMG?
Do u have stock hboot?
i guess stock hboot.
It would be very kind of you if u post both files here - i don't want to download any wrong files....
Thanks again!
I've done it again. I think I need to be stopped! lol
I had a perfectly fine phone running the original orange 4.1.1 software. I decided to root it or something and now I'm stuck on the white intro screen.
I can get into the hboot or whatever it's called by holding down power and vol down, but once in there everything I try just takes me back to the white screen.
Factory reset just takes me back to white screen
Recovery shows me a pic of my phone with a green arrow, then a red warning sign. Sometimes from there I can get into recovery (of sorts), but theres nowhere there for me to restore my backups
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

HI all, I'm hoping I'm on the end stretch now lol..
I have a fully charged phone, but tried to install the RUU but it wasn't having any of it, saying that it was the incorrect version. I have the latest that was on the page (was about a month old) it's saying my image version is 3.16.61.6 and it wants to change it to 1.28.061.9, but then it can't
Any ideas? Cheers
Do these fastboot commands
Fastboot oem readcid
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post them here please
readcid - orang001
version main - 3.16.61.6
Thanks
Yes you need a ruu or a nandroid backup that starts with 3.16 with and orange cid ! You tried to downgrade he hboot with an older ruu and that is impossible due to not having S-OFF ......
I found this on another page, will that work do you think?

Hi Matt,
Here's the Orange UK Jellybean nandroid. Users will need the stock 3.16 recovery to complete the install
CID ORANG001 Firmware 3.16.61.6 Sense 4+ Baseband 5.1204.163R.30 build 3.16.61.6 CL 128187

Should be clean with no personal info on it.

Sorry didn't see that one !!!! Its not in the OP yet ..... Yes use that one !!! That's exactly what you need !!!
Edit : I only checked the OP, but Matt is on holiday so the OP is not updated
Great stuff, do I still need to do all wiping and flashing of boot?
Cheers for this, you've been a great help
Yes do a full wipe and flash the boot.img from the nandroid with fastboot ! You got lucky mate
Lets hope so
Finally downloaded the ruu, don't want to do it wrong. What commands do I need to type?
Cheers
Its not a ruu .... its a nandroid backup and its probably a .rar file ... Unpack it and put it on the phones sd card looking like this
Sdcard\clockworkmod\backup\time and date folder\backup files
Copy the boot.img from those backup files to the fastboot folder
Flash it in fastboot usb mode
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the custom recovery and do a full wipe/factory reset and restore the nandroid backup from the menu backup & restore
Boot it up to see if its running !
Ah, see there's mu issue, the phone's still not getting past the HTC logo at the beginning. I can't get the backup on my phone can I?
D/l Android Revolution HD 22.0 and boot.img 0.1 for Android Revolution HD 22. ,
I installed HTC drivers on PC, followed instructions below
1. Turn OFF the device
2. Turn ON the device in bootloader mode (hold power + vol down)
3. Enter fastboot mode using navigation keys
4. Connect the device to PC via USB cable
5. Double click on 'install-boot-windows.bat'.
6. Enter recovery and flashed Android Revolution HD ROM
When finished it said Rom was flashed successfully I rebooted, it went to splash screen and went no further.
I tried re installing the Rom again same result I left it over nite still on splash screen in the morning.
I completely wiped phone clean, restored to factory default re installed Rom, put phone in fast boot and tried to flash extracted boot img with no success.
USB storage wont mount in recovery, it comes up with E: Unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)
sd card wont mount so due to not having removable sd card on this device I cant put any other roms or backup files on phone
Any help would be appreciated

After a little more research I see that u can find the CID# with the phone booted, so if I have to know my CID# in order to upgrade HBOOT how do I find it when I cant boot the phone and can only get into Fastboot
I am stuck on the CyanogenMod splash screen and can't do anything to exit it either because I can't activate Developer Mode to run fastboot. What should I do?

yep feel your pain, I dont get an error, the device just dont show up, pc doesn't recognize it, thought it might have been Win 8 and drivers not working so went on a WinXP PC installed drivers and JBFWTool which supposedly does everything but make coffee and my f*&$% phone went flat,
so far I have spent 10 solid hrs on it trying a thousand things to fix it and I'm no further advanced than I was 10 hrs ago, I'm just about over it as well

but once again I am having probs with the PC seeing the phone when I flash an img file it says it flashed successfully but I dont know if it has or not,
do u upgrade the the recovery by flashing it frm the PC?
Yes put the file in the fastboot folder on the pc and rename it to recovery.img
Then open the command window in that folder, hold shift + right click and open command window here
Then flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
And while you are at it.
Fastboot getvar version-main
That will tell me the firmware you need to flash to upgrade the hboot if you didn't do that yet. Can't say if you need the same firmware as the thread where you got redirected to !

Aha Optus Australia ! I want you to run a ruu and update via official ota, because the stock backups for Optus are rare. And if you want to be able to update to sense 5 then you 100& need a stock backup !!!
Here is the ruu
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...11-radio-1120410514-release-260560-signedexe/
Relock the bootloader :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute the ruu.exe from the pc with administrator rights ! Right click it and select run as administrator
It will flash the phone back to full stock, stock rom, recovery and kernel.
Note : it will wipe EVERYTHING.

Gr8 thanks for that, looks like a lot more messing around but should be worth it in the long run I hope, u relock and unlock the bootloader in recovery don't u? I think I saw those options in there earlier, doesnt mater if it wipes everything I have a back up of my storage and I have factory reset it 2-3 times in the last 12 hrs I will have to charge it a bit now as it went flat about half an hr ago I will let u know how it goes :victory:
No you lock it via fastboot commands, all commands starting with fastboot are done with the phone in the bootloader !
So the steps are :
1: run the ruu like described
2: after all updates via phone menu you should get to jellybean android 4.1.....check your bootloader and make sure the hboot number is above 1.31 !
3: unlock the bootloader again with the unlock code
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
4: flash the custom recovery
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
and make a NANDROID BACKUP RIGHT AWAY ! Very important !!!
5: flash the boot.img from the new desired rom
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
6: make a full wipe in the recovery (wipe all except the sdcard !)
7: install the new rom.zip in the recovery
8: reboot and enjoy JB !

have you tried to flash another recovery? try Philz one (the best version depends on the rom you want to try), connect to pc, mount usb as storage, copy a rom on the phone and flash it if it is bootloop maybe it's a bad kernel flash or a missing kernel flashing process
im not an expert or something but...how can i mount usb storage and copy rom when it won´t turn on?

no, if it's off you can't, but as buttons blink three times, maybe you can enter fastboot and so you can try to update recovery...
sorry, mine are only guesses as i've never faced such a condition, but if you can enter fastboot maybe you can recover the device
now it again turn on in recovery (if it is even recovery, i really dont know ). It shows this screen and i really know what to do, can you write it step by step? or post some link?
it's not recovery, it's fastboot
do this way: try to download again the unlock.bin from htcdev.com if you haven't got it, unlock the bootloader and flash the recovery i told you before, then enter recovery, connect to pc and select mount usb storage... then copy a rom zip on phone, reboot to bootloader and flash rom kernel, enter again recovery, wipe everything to flash a new rom and flash the zip.. you should be fine
search this threads for guides, there are many and i can't give you all the links

p.s. before unlocking the bootloader again, update hboot to at least 1.39.0000

you're right Mr Hofs, but i really don't like stock rom and i've never used a RUU, so i fear i would have given wrong infos
anyway your way is the easiest one
Maybe he flashed the recovery as a kernel, so when he installs ROM and reboots it just boots recovery again.

RUU is Rom Update Utility, so a tool that you run on pc with the device connected that restores devices "as new"...
you need to find a ruu that matches the main number you get with the command Mr Hofs posted before
