Nexus 7 pairing with Dualshock Ps3 - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Has anyone having issues pairing their PS3 controller with their nexus.. Bought 2 apps already(Sixaxis control and sixaxis enabler) none could detect my controller through Bluetooth with OTG. OTG works fine but wireless function doesn't. Even the Sixaxis Controller tool for the PC couldn't detect my controllers( all 3 of them).. Could it be that I need to update my firmware from JWR66N to the latest?
Just don't want to have hose multi touch issues from the latest update like I've read here in these forums.

Edit: Decided to just flash a custom rom.. All is well.

(You must be rooted) Go in tablet settings, Language & input, check Sixaxis Controller, tap setting for it, tap Gamepad Settings, check Enable Gamepad, exit. Go to Sixaxis app, tap Start, grant SuperSU, wait, your Local Bluetooth address should appear at the bottom, let everything as is. Go to pc and start Sisxaxis pairing tool, plud Dualshock to a usb port and enter new Bluetooth address form Sixaxis app. Once done unplug controller, when you turn the controller on Sixaxis will detect it.

Flashed clean ROM and it works.. Seems like sixaxis and netflix won't run on an older firmware like JWR66N. I was already rooted and didn't want to go through the hassle of updating then rooting again, so I just decided to flash a custom ROM

I am on JWR66N and it works perfectly for me. You need to have the sixaxis pair tool on your computer, connect your controller to your computer via USB, then change the master bluetooth address of your controller to the one that it says at the bottom of the six axis app. Don't forget that you need to change the input setting if you plan on using it.

Unfortunately my MAC wouldn't recognized my controller even through boot camp with windows ultimate.. So I have no way of changing the master Bluetooth address. Must've been a driver issues, that I couldn't solve.

[Q] Wiimote/SIXAXIS Controller on t989

Has anyone had any success with getting a Wiimote or SIXAXIS controller on their t989? I've attempted to get a Wiimote to work to no avail. I haven't been able to test a SIXAXIS since I don't have one. I'm using the Gingersnap rom on my device.
Any thoughts, suggestions or solutions are welcome!
The Wiimote does not work, however I have seen that the Sixaxis controller will work very well

I've got a sixaxis controller working. You need the sixaxis app from the market. I got it to work with whitehawxx stock rooted rom and macnut's revenge. Just follow the steps on the sixaxis' dev's website and it'll work fine.
here is my video on youtube using the ps3 controller with my old white galaxy s2. http://youtu.be/23lXN3hK1nA
u need this app. this will run a test to make sure it will work for your phone, before u buy it. https://market.android.com/details?...kaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb21wYXRpYmlsaXR5Y2hlY2tlciJd
then if it says it works then just buy the app for 1.99 in the market. then u need to be rooted in order to even use this app.
hope this helps a little bit for you.
the market is telling me that the SIXAXIS app isnt compatible with my device.
im running darkside Dewizzed 2.5.2

Well thanks for all your replies. I was able to get the SIXAXIS controller working. For those wondering how to get it connected, first you have to pair the device with a computer by using a tool like sixpair for linux which basically spoofs your Android device's Bluetooth MAC address on your computer's Bluetooth adapter. Once successfully paired with your computer with the spoofed MAC, the controller will easily pair with your phone.

onlive gaming on nexus 7 with ps3 controller?

hello,
I know there is a patch to make any controller playable on onlive but that is for desktop onlive correct? is there a way make it so we can use a ps3 controller on onlive on our nexus 7?? Or do i have to buy there controller to use with my nexus 7? i need something until the nyko android gamepad comes out!
any info would be greatly appreciated....
ty
As a wired controller it worked out of the box with no additional apps.
My setup being OTG adapter and a standard mini usb lead to the controller
Only tested with deus ex and saints row on onlive.
To use as a wireless controller requires the sixaxis app or similar, I've had no luck with this so far although the app makes has the option to show the wireless controller as a sixaxis so it should work.. I might test that one again..
I'm when I did try i could only navigate menus. it was like the onlive didn't accept there was a controller and came up with that message (a controller is required to play this game)
Just tested and what I've said is correct.
Install this onlive app and u can use any controller with it. Onlive will recognize them as an official controller and u can play any game. Including six axis over Bluetooth. http://db.tt/nn0hUg8e

Yes, using the patched app and Sixaxis you just need to tick the 'Enable Gamepad" option to enable native gamepads.
Not really a tutorial, but proof that it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwSW1N7rtBw
That works!

Awesome, thanks! Now I just need to have a decent internet connection I guess.
Yes it works well, this is one of the first things I did with my tablet when I got it. Now I just need to figure out how the patch was done, cause unfortunately it uses the on live version before the last which had some performance improvements. Got it decompiled now I gotta dig around in smali. I'll definitely post anything if I can isolate the patch and apply to newest version.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I install this? I have tried multiple times and it tells me that the install fails because there is a pre existing program with conflicting signatures.
Thanks in advance!!
how do you map?
So it works but the buttons are mapped in a fashion that makes is unusable - where do you properly map the buttons on the ps3 controller (don't see how within onlive)

lol all you had to do was google ps3 controller for android
It's now possible to get the most authentic gaming experience possible by linking a Sony PlayStation 3 controller with your Android device. The app that enables this astonishing combination is Sixaxis Controller, available for download from the Android Market for £1.01.
Before you purchase the app and dust off your PS3 pad in preparation for some old-school gaming action, take note: your phone has to be rooted in order for this to work. If you have no idea what rooting is, we'd advise you stop reading now.
It's also worth stressing that Sixaxis Controller doesn't work with every single Android phone -- the developer has noted that some HTC and Samsung devices are incompatible, due to complexities in how they handle Bluetooth protocols.
Run a compatibility check
The developer has kindly made a compatibility check tool available for free so you can be sure your device is up to the job before spending your cash on the full app. Download Sixaxis Compatibility Checker and run the test to ascertain if you're eligible for some controller-pairing goodness.
Lol and all you had to do was read the OP properly. Sixaxis Compatibility App by Dancing Pixel needs a PC.
You know, like the one he says he doesn't wanna use?

Using Xbox 360 wireless controller receiver via USB

Has anyone been successful in getting a wireless 360 controller to work on their GNex with the wireless receiver via USB? I've seen it working on the Nexus 7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818552
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792531
However these fixes don't work when copied across to our device. It simply isn't detected either by the OS or by games/emulators. Anyone with a little more know how could explain why it isn't working? Thanks

Interesting, I did see that app mentioned but only when using the wired USB controller and not the receiver. It successfully managed to map the wireless buttons even though it doesn't navigate the homescreens etc?

Pairing Console controllers?

Hi guys, so I've been playing a lot of games lately and I would like to try and use a controller. I have Xbox and my uncle has a bunch of ps3 ones. I was wondering if it does work, and which of the two would work best. Thanks! Oh, btw, Shadowgun Deadzone beta is mathematically awesome!!!!!

This is true, there is also an app on the market as well as a program which tells the controller to connect to your phones Bluetooth Mac address instead of the ps3 Mac.

Motionjoy. Use it on my PC and Mac to connect my ps3 controller via Bluetooth. I've only used the controller with my phone via USB and it was fine.
A wired PS3 or Xbox controller will also work as long as you have a USB OTG cable.

I have the OTG Cable, but Xbox 360 still wont work. No PS3 controller to test.
I found out why it wont work. My controllers are wireless, so I'm using a plug and play cable which will not work. That sucks
