For transferring files I use airdroid - I've tried to follow various how-tos for getting mtp to work on Ubuntu (12.04), with limited success.
Any particular reason you went with 10.04 btw? 12.04 is also LTS and few guides will cover 10.04...
well originally after I wiped my computer I was going to install window xp..I received the blue screen of death..code 0x0000007b. So with no other operating system installed I found by ubuntu disk which I made to dual boot with windows to try out a while back and installed it. My only other resources to download anything is my phone

New Sgh T989

Hello.. I have a New sg2 my second one. I want to root it right now but leave it on stock. How do i do that with my mac? I Dont have a pc.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
That's a very good question but from what I know if I'm not mistaken is that you possibly can't root your phone with a Mac
that's just my knowledge...

From my understanding no, Odin will not work unless it's on Windows, I've heard people run it on a virtual OS on a Mac. You should just ask a friend really to save you time.
From my Bauer seed in minecraft
Install windows on your Mac is an option
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yeah, running a virtual OS is possible but a risk, so I suggest you go to a friend or install windows with bootcamp
Duel boot Linux or Ubuntu s latest . then get adb working in my Sig on PC or desktop view are three lines in my Sig .open terminal and paste those in one at a time and enter.you have adb. Then unzip the zip push the root and push its su file via adb to their rightful place that should root your phone without Odin or just get adb working on your Mac and do the same. I like Linux and Ubuntu though, over Mac. Or here *-X-*
also get fastboot working so that you can use it to install a custom recovery like twrp with this command `~ fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img
Before Odin was ADB.

At what part are you thinking you will fail?
just get a windows7 and use odin macs complicate things for Android users.
or dual boot Linux Mint for free.
Or Root with Mac via ADB
that guide is for the Nexus Toro so of course you will use only recoveries and files for the t-989.. the su file is somewhat universal as in the newer su files will work with most if not all devices Ive encountered certainly a su file that works for nexus would work for our device and so would superuser .apk but recoveries are device specific and the wrong one will result in a possible brick, very likely.

Odin for mac

Hello, I'm currently in need for odin on Mac OS X, because I'm an idiot and forgot to bring my PC with me. Help is greatly appreciated
Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk 4
I don't think that odin will work on a mac, even if you run bootcamp or parallels. I could be wrong though. I have tried it on my dad's mac with parallels and it would not work.

Wugfresh? Installed the drivers already but it still says some Error like boot.IMG cannot be found can't remember but when I click root it says that and at the end of it it says no error
Cannot load 'root\boot-insecure-.img': no error
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Where can I get the boot.img?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Is there a easier way of doing this? I don't understand how rooting is the most diffcult part

Or Linux LiveCD.
Try mskip toolkit, I've never had problem with it. It should work correctly. The thing with WugFresh's toolkit is that it downloads mostly the needed components from goo and it has some problems at the moment. So yeah using mskip would be better I think.
Hope it helps.

Confused - can I just "flashify" the bumped TWRP instead of ADB instal?

Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but I am still confused after many hours of reading.... I recently came from the Galaxy S4 to the G3 which of course came with 11c on it. I am planning on reverting back to 10b, rooting with STUMP, and then this is where I am confused. I have never used ADB before and have tried reading up on it, downloaded and installed SDK manager, but it is all Greek to me. Not helped by the fact that my computer is crappy slow and on the verge of being tossed out. Anyway, I've seen some youtube tutorials on using Flashify to flash the Bumped TWRP, avoiding using ADB. Seems easy....so, is there a downside to using Flashify instead of the ADB method?
Thanks
I used Flashify today, quick and simple.

Update. Flashify worked great to flash Bumped TWRP. I'm now rooted, have custom recovery, and am running Jasmine 3.0. Super easy to do and all working great. Thanks!
