If the clock hasn't synced (or set the clock yourself), it defaults to a long time ago. These phones don't have RTC battery-backed clocks. They are expected to sync at startup with the network. Of course you can play with the data for the app also. I'm just talking about natural occurrences.

[Q] Does anyone else have this problem with the capacitive buttons?

Is it just me or ever since Ive rooted (Ive only been on CM9 and PA since I have had this phone for not too long), that sometimes when waking up the phone, there is a very annoying delay until the capacitive buttons light up and can be used?
Thanks!

It happens to me on ics frequently not so much on gb... wierd!

It happened to me on CM9 and PA (ICS and JB). It was a little more frequent on CM9 i believe.
It happens to me on ICS and only when I'm connected to wifi. On 3G or 4G they come on fine. Everybody knows this phone has wifi staying connected issues since ICS, I bet the two are related.

I had problems since I first got the phone. I just disable the hardware cap. keys and use an on screen nav bar.

Actually it was a very heavily discussed topic. It just died down and I guess everybody learned to accept it since there was never a fix.

flash an official ROM and send-it to the service. It's nothing you can do about this.

Battery socks!

Me and my parents got the s3 while ics was still out. We upgraded to jb (4.1) now the battery don't last as long as it did, dad says it has taken at least 24 hours off his battery. How do we fix the battery issue and rooting etc is not an option! Thanks

try different socks... In all seriousness do a factory reset... while updating to a newer version of android it is best to start from scratch.
Haha predictive text, problem is we have all done a factory reset still nothing

you might need to do multiple battery cycles. fully drain and recharge. or if your device is rooted. try the battery calibrator app in the play store.
As mentioned rooted is not an option but will try the cycle, also the phone seems a lot slower than when ics

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You should still root and flash a custom ROM. Something like cm10.1
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Ours is still on contract and parents won't root cause they think it will mess it up so need to get it to work properly with the stock rom, update is the problem I flashes mine back to ics and it's mega fast and the battery lasts ages.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well did research. The batteries don't have memory's so they don't need battery cycles to fix the issue any more help ta

Help with texting

Hello this is my first post. So tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. Okay onto my story, when I reply to a text it shows in top of the recent text I received. Like if someone texted me "you coming over?" I would respond with "yea be over real quick" but my message would appear on top. It would look like this.
(yea be over real quick)
(you coming over?)
But if I wait like 5 minutes later then respond my text box would be on the bottom.

You haven't told us if you're on stock or running a custom rom, rooted, etc. When did this start happening?
It started when I first got. This is stock. Not rooted or anything. I tested this on my dad's s3 and same problem.

I would start by clearing the messaging cache. Settings>apps>all>messaging
Then I might try booting into recovery and wiping cache if that didn't work
Did you and your dad update the firmware to jellybean or is that what it arrived with?
It came with jelly bean 4.1.1.
