Hi guys,
I Found the Facebook application of xperia phone on the net. The only problem is that you can't start it is because you need the xperia panel system.
Now my question is: Can anyone make this app work on the Touch HD or other phones (without making use of the xperia panel system)?
Any voluntiers for this job or is it simply impossible?
Damn, this is the same questions I was about to ask. It's been 18 days since your post, someone must know something, or be working on something by now.
Or alternatively use the search function on this forum!
In the Developing section there is a thread about this and someone has already tried to port the FB Xperia app onto WM6.1 without much success.
Regards
Xperia's Panel system is used as a framework for applications, so if this Facebook Application use it, I don't think you can easily use it without the panel system.
The only chance is to port the panel system correctly.
just use opera and link: http://m.facebook.com .... it is the best.....!!
put this link to your fav !!!
I have it as my homescreen you can use as well iphone.facebook.com but I don't like it as much as the original mobile site.. Just try both and use the one for your needs. The only thing I miss in the mobile facebook is the chat, other I have everything. hehe, I even forgot how the normal facebook page looks like
greets, cad^^
Well guys I use http://iphone.facebook.com/ ... for now... I see a lot of interesting facebooks apps being made for wm but none have really been released. We'll just have to wait some time
yeah the iphone site seems to solve all needs for an actual app. Thanks for the tip.

I tried Snap2Face last year and it was fine. I just don't do much photo snapping with the HD (for obvious reasons) and uploading to facebook is mostly from my excellent Lumix FZ28
am I the only one that cant get the http://iphone.facebook.com site to work. It brings up all the tabs but no info displays. I'm using the stock AT&T rom. Do I need to upgrade my Opera version?
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470660
thats work ...

Hey Gareth,
nice hint. Would you mind dropping in a link to the thread for the ones who land here?

Guys, you obviously don't know that there is a leaked new Microsoft Facebook app that works quite well on Touch HD!
I have installed it few days ago (search the general forum) and have been very happy with it. Some bugs, yes, but it's like 0.4 version, so it's really early beta.
However, lot of cool functions are there - my favorite: Facebook phonebook! It lists all your Facebook friends that have entered their phone numbers or e-mails and sorts them into alphabetical order. Very useful if you need to call someone and you don't have him / her in your Contacts.

Hi Rozenthal,
I am using this at the moment as well. It is a nice start, I hope MS are doing something more than that. If you look at the video of the Xperia Facebook app, then that's the way to go. It is also based on Windows Mobile, but it uses part of the SonyEricsson panel framework, that's why it might be hard to port it over to other phones.
I expect a lot more apps coming in the next time who are a bit more interactive and more than just a bunch of lists. I am also missing something like the INQ1 from Three already has and is expected on the Palm Pre which does full integration with the phonebook.
If I had some know how of the Facebook API and somebody who is better with graphics than I am, I would love to do something based on the .net CF framework...

Yes, I think for such an early beta it's very promising. And I'm without doubt that this app is only a hint of what's coming on WinMo regarding Facebook integration. I don't have to remind everyone that Microsoft is quite a large Facebook share-holder, so I would guess this alone will enable them to produce better app's then what the competition has to offer.
Not to mention what's gonna happen when Microsoft launches it's WinMo app market system.
As for the full Facebook - WinMo Contacts integration, there's a hint of it on latest Dutty ROMs. There's Facebook integration support that will enable the user to associate his phonebook Contacts with Facebook accounts. Probably with Calendar as well. The integration does not function yet, tough, but it's pretty easy to guess what it would do.
I've been discussing the theoretical functions of this ever since first Manilla3 ROM came up. I predict that it will pull data such as birth date, phone number, e-mail, contact photo, home address etc. directly from Facebook and integrate that information into WinMo Contacts. I also assume that it will pull "upcoming events" into Home screen.
Btw, from what I know (not much ) Facebook API is very stiff and far from being friendly for 3rd party apps pulling data out.
Indeed, it works perfect on the touch hd.

When this post was made, the new facebook program didn't exist! And as I already said, this thread is closed...
Try this app. Its works for me
Today I've released a public preview (alpha) of FBRocket which is a lightweight Facebook SDK written from scratch specifically for the Android platform.
FBRocket makes it really easy to integrate Facebook functionality into your existing projects. You can make simple method calls like:
facebook.setStatus("is using FBRocket!");
to change your user's status, so you can imagine the hundreds/thousands of uses for this library!
There are also features to retrieve friend status, etc. -- all in all, even though it's only at version 0.1, it's already quite powerful, really lightweight and designed specifically minimise verbosity and be accessible to beginners, yet powerful enough for advanced developers.
Check it out at http://xeomax.net/fbrocket and I'd love to get your feedback, preferably through the website, but I'll also be making frequent checks to this thread.
Thanks!
I like it
Good work!
Hope you will keep it free for all to use.
I have a request, and that is the ability to share images.
Currently, I can just share status updates and notes (without images).
Any plans to implement this?
Wow, great project! Keep working on it!
Nice work!
If only there was someone to make a decent facebook application, like iphone's one.
The official application is nice, but lacks a lot of things(chat, poke, auto updates, etc),and basically it links you to the browser for most of things to do..
Wish some of you devs makes an effort

Hey Jon!
I tried your code ... it takes me to the login page, when i log in, i go to my applications page on facebook which says "this application is under construction." The code in onLoginSuccess() method doesnt execute. No status updates, no dialogs. Do i have to publish my application first? I have raised this issue on your site's feedback but you didnt respond. Please help me out.
Thanks.

Hi there,
I found today a website which contains all applications for WP7. You can use specific filters like language, price and category. You can also get statistics about WP7 apps. I think it's better than wp7applist because very simple and intuitive. It's easier to find applications.

It looks like clone of this site http://www.monsmartphone.net/marketplace/
I don't like them both because out of date information in WP7 programs descriptions, screen shots.
There is also no information about the date of the application update.
Both http://wp7applist.com/ and http://www.marketplacebrowser.com contains more adequate information about programs, but not good for browsing.
They very good when you want to read info about the particular program.
http://www.appsfuze.com/ also has filters by category, free or paid app.
Good for browsing, but I'm not sure in their statistics info.
Also out of date info related to the applications screen shots.
Wrong text formatting in app description.
Of course, all above IMHO
Please keep discussion threads out of the app release section
I will move this to WP7 General.

Yet another site for WP7 apps
I've found another site for WP7 applications:
http://wpappshub.com
IMHO it is not so good for apps browsing, but contains actual information about published or updated programs.

Hello s_v_l,
I'm in charge of development of monsmartphone.net & windowsphoneapplist. I've attached importance to your post and the main bugs are corrected. All apps are now updated directly. The update job will take about 24 hours, so tomorrow you will see the good prices & informations. If you have any suggestion, pm me

Hi MrDesch,
You're the only one of the owners of WP7 sites who responded to my criticism.
Thanks.
I present my point of view, as a developer.
We both have a common goal - give the user the ability to make the right choice by the shortest way.
Currently there are near the 7600 applications on the WP7 marketplace.
Very good, but most of them weak and a great risk WP7 marketplace transformation to the garbage place.
I am disappointed with Microsoft in this regard.
I will not even talk about the lack of moderation of false feedback, about black PR, etc., etc.
Sorry for off topic.
More details about your sites tomorrow in PM.
Thanks again.

Looks good, in WP7 style
Some problem with the text overlapping at the upper right corner.
The main problems:
1. The out of date information in the app description and screen shots.
2. Wrong info about pricing!
Actual info about my app:

Your info

Also I can suggest add filter for paid applications too for better browsing.
For example I'm interesting on paid applications only and want to browse them in different category.
(BTW if you check both Free & Trial you will discard ~50% applications)
Thanks for your feedback s_v_l !
What kind of problem did you have with the text overlapping ? It works for me with ie, chrome and firefox.
I found the bug (the last I hope ) It's now corrected. Sry Sry !
Good suggestion for paid apps.

1. Text on the background image overlaps the top banner and right menu block.
See attached screen shots for home window and product window.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.13
2. IMHO download button should be detached from the ads block,
because end user may be confused by the info on that ads.
(this is against google rules related to the ads placement)
Also would be better to make accent on download button by color (light green).
See my other screen shots for product download section and my suggestion with detached button.
3. Price info fixed, but info in the program description and program screen shots still out of date.

Much better than initial view.
App description has been updated properly.
Good idea with "video" section and clickable links in description.
Some problems still exist:
1. Incorrect screen shots update, see attached images.
a)your screen shots set;
b)original screen shots and their order, as they published on WP7 hub (7 items)
2. And text overlapping looks not good (third image in attachment)
Some words about app submitting logic on the WP7 hub.
When developer submit new application or update app to the new version all published data could be changed.
After publication on the WP7 marketplace developer has the ability to correct price information only for current publication. All other data remain the same.
Thanks
All images are in your cache browser. You have to clear it to see the actual screenshots. The text overlapping is alse corrected. It's not perfect but it looks better on high resolution
Yes, I know about that. Thanks s_v_l
Hi.
Don't you people also miss information about when applications been updated in the marketplace.
In android market you could see the update history of an app, and by knowing how often and when an application got updated you would also know if it where up to date and, most importantly, you would know if the author kept on developing the app.
In windows marketplace all you can see is the version of the app, like 1.1.0.0 or similar, but you don't know when the last update where released.
I miss it BIG time.
Cheers
Pemell
On your market place tile it shows when there are updates to apps. When you click on it you can see the app. You can also go to it in the marketplace. Most good developers will list the version number and what it fixed or added. Sometimes you have to hit show more details to see it. What else do you really need?
I agree with OP. There should be more info about how often an app is updated. The only date they currently display is the date the app was published, I'd rather see the date the app was last updated.

Exactly. For example I was looking for a dialer. There where tons of them, and I wanted one witch was regularly updated and up to date.
I also notice that you can't go into the market and see a list of apps installed. It also doesn't show you its installed in a list under search. So the only way is going into the app and seeing the share option instead of install. Hopefully they will find a better way.

I agree, that there should be some sort of version history implemented directly in the marketplace. But unless this will be available, you can always use apps that provide such information. Search the marketplace for WP7applist and AppFlow App Discovery. Both work very good. The latter especially provides a whole lot of useful information.

Hi fellow developers
I recently made a WP7 application. The app is just a very basic browser (it doesn't even have a history or favorites system yet), and I would like some bèta-testers for it, since I will be adding more features such as the ones mentioned above, maybe themes and many more! (the app won't be available in the Market, only Bazaar and similar )
Everyone is free to use this, but please let me know of any bugs/errors and requests/tips for future (non-bèta) versions!
The link:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kds3rl5zinsi7s6
(woops, I put this thread in the wrong forum, can an admin move this to development please?)
I'm testing it!! So far everything's good
Thanks! I'm going to release an improved version of the browser in the next few weeks, with history, favorites, a homepage and stuff like that
