Love it but it does not play the entire boot animation before it starts up, I'm trying to find how to extend that.

My guide still works for ec05 and anything before it. You can only see the values folder when the apk is decompiled using apkmanager or apktool. Xmls can only be edited when decompilwd also

Yeah,I think the file ended in 99,not 01,well,I know it was a diffrent name from the one in the tut; But I went and got a stock framework, and used the new apk manager, decompiled, changed Sprint to ???,and compiled with no errors, still got FC's on boot,so I got the blank framework provided by ??? (I forget)...

Not that I've seen.

There's a pretty high demand for low dpi and tablet ui, I think cm should work on it as an option that would work natively

on that Tablet UI thread, you can sift through the pages and find a flashable zip version for CM9 ALpha 6...that's if you don't like to use adb to do your deeds...I'm going to just flash it in recovery right after I flash the rom then gapps....let me know if it works out for you bub!
This worked great.....can't say thank you enough

Can you use this with themes like Purple Kush (which is the cat's pajamas, btw!)? I'm also running a nightly, are they still compatible?

Sure. When I was using the tab mod, most themes worked flawlessly.

Haha, I saw this started a few days ago and decided not to start on the burn wagon. I love the responses of those who did and by those who did it.
There is one theme that I know doesn't work on the tablet. That's the Crimson Cobalt for CM9 and AOKP...that one will send all kinds of crap spinning.
A couple bootanimations I put together and thought I'd share.
HD Hubble Deep Field
Actual boot looks MUCH better than the gif

cool stuff! you got any recommended tracks for audio to go with the hubble boot?

Correct the are NOT flashable, I just replace the bootanimation in system>media using Root Explorer
NCC-1701
thanks for the tip, but I wouldn't like space odyssey on my phone
I happened to find a track I like for the hubble boot, thanks to a recent nasa article. you can rip the audio from the video online (google it)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFT7ATLQQx8
now I just have to pick a part of the track I like and rip that out...

This is just the original Nexus One Boot Animation I put together for the Nexus 4.. This has been my favorite boot animation since I first purchased my Nexus S two years ago. This used to be the Nexus S default Boot Animation until ICS came along.
This is 98% nearly identical to the original except I did some post processing of the frames to sharpen them up and improve the colors a tad. It was old and showed its age a bit. It needed a little "refreshing". Also, obviously changed the desc.txt to fit our screen.
Not flashable.
Installation
Copy bootanimation.zip to one of two locations.. Your choice
If you copy it to /data/local/ it will override any ROMs boot animation.. ie: It will preserve your ROMs boot animation. If you want the original back simply delete bootanimation.zip and your ROMs will be used again
If you copy it to /system/media/ you will most likely be prompted to over write your ROMs boot animation.
The first location is the prefered installation area. Don't forget to changes permissions to rw-r-r
Sample of one of the animation frames

Just wanna remind people for who this doesn't work to fix the permission and change them to rw-r-r. It didn't work for me at first when I placed it in data/local until I discovered my derp.

Every time I try to edit the file, when trying to save it, it says file save error or file could not be saved depending on the program I use. Does anyone know how I might fix this?
