This might be a dumb question but is there any way to install Halo on an aosp if the Dev didn't include it in there originally ( like the new slim bean). Or I was wondering before if it's possible to install it on the MC2? Thanks

It can be done on aosp roms for sure but it isn't just an application that you can just install (unless of course you mean the halo supplement application in the market). I'm not sure about I incorporating it into MC2 but I'm fairly certain that won't work

Yeah I figured it wasn't an app, but how difficult would it be take the code for it and turn it into an external app type deal that could be used on any ROM. They have something like it already but it's far from the real thing.

Is it possible? absolutely. Anything is possible if you have the means and know how.
The real question is had anyone figured it out yet? I don't believe anyone has. For now tw features such as motion and s beam only work on tw roms. All this is to my knowledge (which could be wrong).

so in future builds of customs roms like aokp or cm10 will we see these features added for the s3?
That is a possibility but it is quite unlikely unless Google standardizes some sort of s beam on their nexus phones.
I believe the cm's goal is to stay be stable and up to date. With the sight account of time that takes i doubt it'll happen till Google makes it happen

An add on to this. As I am new to this phone as well. Came over from the Photon. Do any of the TW ROM's have OC kernels? I've been looking through and am still trying to learn all the S3 terminology

Nice thread hi-hack
But yes, there is OC kernels available, and I believe a few of the ROM's have them included.

Any ROM that is touchwiz based will have these features. These features are written into the touchwiz framework and won't be in any AOSP based builds (CM10, AOKP, etc) soon. They would have to be completely rewritten which isn't an attractive option for most developers.

I tried to keep it mostly related. I'll look a little further for a TW rom with OC kernel.
Thanks for the help and info.

So I was able to use the AOSP JB keyboard on an ICS TW based rom, but not the new JB TW based rom, any ideas without trying to go the logcat route?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Try downloading ICS keyboard from Play Store.
I want the app built in, not an app built to be like AOSP, thanks though.

Going to have to wait for a Dev to work it in to the ROM of your preference then unless you can add it yourself.
Wouldn't be hard.

You try on Odexed or Deodexed?

Try pulling the keyboard from freezas JB build . ( there were so many abbreviations in the title I think my brain literally farted a little )

I can add it, I always add things to a rom, then flash, I do this for several reasons. But I dont know if I could mod the apk to get it working. I just cant undersrand why a cm10 jb kb works on ICS Twiz, but not JB Twiz???

Rom devs must incorporate aroma into the rom zips for you to use it. It's not something that you can use to install any zip.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Usually devs will put on the title of their thread that the ROM uses Aroma. I know there are a couple ROMs in the Dev thread that use it. I personally hate using it and I think just bloats a ROM zip.. but hey that's my opinion.
Thanks guys for your feedback I as appreciate it a bunch.:thumbup:

I'm just wondering how can you hate it when you have the control on what or not to install in the rom?

I can do that with a regular plain old zipped ROM also. It's called My Apps in the Play Store

I don't like it either because a lot of people don't use it properly and when you flash it, stuff gets screwed up. An example is the Wicked rom. It installs about 3 extra audio managing apps no matter which one you select.

Halo notification went open source. Does anyone know if we would be able to add this to a non rooted note2?

Well basically it needs to be built into a ROM that is being built from source.
So no, not at the moment.

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone was working on air view/gesture, smart stay/pause/scroll, or multiwindow, or screen mirrioring on any of the CM builds? Or is that kind of a lost cause because its implimented in the tw framework? Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
If you are going to use CM then all of the Samsung air gestures aren't going to be there, so yes it is in the touchwiz framework
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Thanks, but i already knew that, i was asking if devs were working on a port, or if they have deemed it impossible because it is implimented inside touchwiz?
