Welcome to moonshine s-off for the HTC One VX -- Developed by beaups, Fuses and hyuh. Enjoy.
Supported firmwares:
2.21.502.1
Important windows notes:
1) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
2) make sure adb and fastboot drivers are working
3) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
4) if you are having problems with fastboot, try a usb 2.0 port.
5) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
6) make sure other programs that interfere with adb and fastboot are uninstalled (PDANet, Kies, etc.)
7) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
8) if you use a third party firewall, be sure to grant access to distiller.exe as it checks for updates
9) MAKE SURE HTC SYNC IS UNINSTALLED
10) YOU MUST UNZIP THE ARCHIVE BEFORE RUNNING DISTILLER. DO NOT JUST TRY TO RUN IT FROM THE ARCHIVE.
Downloads available at: http://moonshine.io
Two things to note.
1. This is specifically for JB firmware. So if you have flashed RUU or my firmware package and you are S-ON this is the only option available to you. If you are on ICS still use Facepalm S-OFF.
2. No need to run this at all unless you are S-ON. No need to do it after firmware upgrade as you keep S-OFF.
Copuld anybody share your ADB and fastboot drivers? I can't find anything on google for this damn phone. >_<

Yeah, no. It doesn't work. Neither that nor letting windows update look for the files nor letting the PC scan for files.
Try using Linux. For example an Ubuntu live CD. ADB and Fastboot are installed by default in most newer versions of Ubuntu.

thanks I was pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I installed sync when i first got the error, that helped it get thorugh the install a little bit. It started to flash, it rebooted the phone. Then when i got to the silver HTC screen it the PC popped up with that error. Now i just get the error every time i start the RUU... hopefully this fixes it
Hi guys!
Today I tried to get the rooted desire with Android 2.2 with unrevoked 3.21
Previosly I updated to 2.29.405.2 SW
When I run the unrevoked it (desire) freezed on "waiting for root" step. Desire freezed in boot progress (white screen with HTC logo on it)
I removed battery and inserted it again. But I cant boot it, desire freezes on the same white screen with HTC logo.
I can HBOOT, but when I go to recovery menu my device goes to reboot and freez.
So it seems that unrevoked spoiled my recovery and I do not know hot to fix it.
Please guide me, the working solution will be donated $20

Device model is not SAPPHIRE - flash old/new disabled.
This device does not have s-off nor eng hboot.

Thanks!
Flash a stock RUU and try again, you can get 2.29.405.2 from my signature. Remember to use a gold card if you had to in the past
How can I flash the RUU without access to recovery?
You should flash it via fastboot.
Hold the back button and turn on your phone to enter FASTBOOT, then connect your phone to the pc with the usb cable and then run the ruu.

Did it as you said, result is the same
After the successful flash procedure thru RUU device went to reboot and freezed at the same white screen state.
Recovery is still unavailable to get into.
Now I will try to get the logged data thru Android SDK.
This thing is really mess me up =( I'm phoneless.
You, guys, are the one and only hope.
I have installed SDK, but I cant see anything in adb logcat but "waiting for device", thogh my device is conneted via fastboot usb.
Any clue?
I had that same issue, and it turns out it was a problem with the earlier version of clockworkmod (2.5.0.1) that had that issue, where freezing occurred at the HTC splash screen.
Try unrevoked again, with the 2.5.0.7 image here:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img
Make sure you select the image when you start unrevoked.
It might fail a few times (freezing at splash), but if it does, just pull the battery and keep trying....eventually it'll manage to go through.
Good luck =)

Latty, how can I run unrevoked with a desired image if I cant boot the phone to get it recognized by unrevoked?
you have to start the flasher without the phone being connected, then you should be able to select the image (top left of window).

It still is a driver issue.
Start from scratch..
Remove all HTC Drivers
Reboot
DC from internet
Connect phone in two modes-Android, Fastboot
It should get recognized but drivers shouldnt be installed and you should be prompted for driver location. If you arent prompted, get Device Manager, uninstall the driver which recognized the device.
Now install Unrevoked drivers as per guide.
Phone should be recognized..

Ok, thanks will do it now.
But one more question, should it be recognized from hboot usb mode with "Android Bootloader interface" driver, or from fastboot mode?
Cant confirm that without my phone..
But, I believe drivers would recognize it in both..And seperate drivers too..
A small tip..If you have dual boot, try Unrevoked in another OS in which you havent installed HTC. Should work

Faced with problems
1) I uninstalled HTC Drivers.
2) plugged phone and deleted Bootloader interface device then Boot Interface device.
3) rebooted
4) disconnected from internet
5) plugged and powered device and got Bootloader Interface driver installed without a single promt!!! And Boot interface as well.
So I had no chance to manually set the path to the drivers. And unrevoked still doesnt see the device =(
It turns out that I should try another OS???
PS and the key point, should it be recognized in hboot mode or unrevoked only works with booted to OS devices only?
Not really..But that's the easy way out..
Difficult to show you what exactly to delete..
Mostly these are driver clashes..When you uninstall the driver you should tick the option to delete the driver from system.
Try again and you know you've succeeded when it doesnt find any driver installed, and asks you for the location, when you can choose the unrevoked drivers..
Hm, I cant find any options prompting to delete driver from the system... But I will look into more carefully.
ADDED
Found it, trying now.
Tried, was promted to specify the path to the drivers, installed again and with no luck =( Unrevoked doesnt see the device.
I will try it tomorrow on another PC and with another OS.
Thanks for help, I really appreciate this, and I hope we will find a solution.
PS. Is this problem called USB brick?
This bother me a lot!
I've tried to install UnrEVOked on my Desire, but I can't install these lame drivers!
They keep on failing, either they tell me, that my drivers can't be updated to any better. Or that my install of the drivers were unsucessful.
Do any of you know what to do?
Windows XP, SP3.
I do have HTC Sync, I've tried several times, restartet my computer.
Any help would be appreciated.
im no expert i only just used unrevoked a few days ago, i never installed htc sync and was wondering why i couldnt get it to work, but i had to install then uninstall htc sync then put the phone into recovery then install the hboot drivers. try unstalling htc sync

You if have HTC sync installed on your computer, you need to uninstall this, doing this leaves the correct drivers.
Swyped from HTC desire
Follow this steps it should make you ready to go. Also check if you have PVT-4(boot into Hboot (from off, hold volume down and press power)), and if you have it then download Terminal emulator from the market and open it.
Type "cat /proc/mtd" and press enter. It will return results of either 20,000 or 40,000.
If you get 20,000 you must select AmonRa (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20471345/SUroot/Tools/Android/Recovery/recovery-RA_2.0.1.img) as custom recovery from UnrEVOked: File->CustomRecovery (or Ctrl+R) and select the img you just downloaded.
If you have 40,000 you don't need the modify anything, unless you want AmonRa instead of CWM.
Install HTC Sync
Remove HTC sync (application only) via Control panel (add remove programs / programs and features) - This should leave the drivers behind, which we need to keep.
Install the Hboot drivers (http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/lib/e...revoked.com/recovery/android-usb-driver.zip):
Extract your hboot driver files somewhere you will remember.
Boot into Hboot screen (from off, hold volume down and press power)
Connect Desire to PC (the screen will then show "HBOOT USB")
Right click "My computer" > Manage > Device Manager
Expand "Other Devices" in the right-hand pain and locate "Android 1.0 device"
Right click on Android 1.0 and click Update Driver Software
Click on Browse my computer for driver software.
Click on Browse and select the Android USB Driver folder you extracted earlier (press OK to any errors received and Close when complete)
Check Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone in device manager.
Credits for these steps goes to SUroot.
If you have 40,000 you don't need the modify anything, unless you want AmonRa instead of CWM.
If you have erase size 40000 you need to use amonra 2.01.
To install them, you must be in the bootlader (HBOOT).

Hello,
I have searched the forums and Google, and was not able to find anyone else with this issue, so here I am.
I'm on Windows 7 x64 with a stock Canadian Galaxy Nexus 4.0.1 (yakjuux.)
I am trying to install GNex Toolkit and am unable to get past the first step. No matter what I try to do, any time I plug in the phone, it installs the default drivers.
Device installation settings are set to "never install drivers from Win Update." Phone is in development mode, I have removed Google Nexus from my devices (and checked the "delete drivers" box, though it doesn't even appear anymore), there is nothing for Samsung in Programs and Features, I have used USBDeview and there is nothing for Samsung/Nexus. I've tried using PDANet to no avail (I get error 103). I tried using "uninstall drivers" with GNTK, no dice (it seems to just remove a registry entry).
Any other ideas on how to make my PC install the drivers I want and not the default ones?
Thanks.

I have read that entire post and Bourne-nolonger's guide. Instead of showing up as "Android 1.0" device in Device Manager, my phone always shows up as Galaxy Nexus, with no yellow triangles or any other issues. (Yes, developer mode is enabled, and it seems to make no difference to how my computer responds.)
From Bourne-nolonger's guide:
"As soon as you enable this Windows will pick up a new device and it will attempt to install a driver - this will fail (or hopefully it will)." - mine never fails, it always installs drivers from somewhere. When I attempt to install new drivers to the Google Nexus device using UNK 0.7, Windows tells me that I already have the newest drivers.
Should I be restarting my PC after every install/uninstall of drivers? That's the only thing I can think of....

Absolutely.
Here is the sequence I followed:
- phone plugged in
- USB debug mode on
- uninstall phone from Device Manager
- USB debug mode off
- uninstall phone from Device Manager
- reboot
- reconnect phone, it installs with no problems
- enable USB debug mode while plugged in
- phone installs again, exactly like the previous time, with Galaxy Nexus in Portable Devices
So it appears my computer doesn't care if it is in USB debug mode or not. It sees them as two separate devices/states of device, but installs the same drivers for both.
edit: tried doing the same in fastboot mode; the Device Manager recognized it as Fastboot mode, but did not let me install the proper drivers, saying that I already have the newest ones.

This is what I would do:
1) Unplug your device from your PC.
2) Go into Device Manager and in the View menu at the top, select show hidden devices.
3) Uninstall every driver related to the GNex/Samsung/Android/etc.
4) Reboot your PC.
5) Make sure your Device Installation settings are set to never download drivers from Windows Update (as per bourne-nolonger's post).
6) Make sure USB Debugging is enabled in your GNex's settings.
7) Plug your GNex into your PC.
8) In device manager you should see Android 1.0 with a yellow "!". Right-click on that and update the driver from where you downloaded 1wayjonny's driver.
9) Reboot your device in fastboot mode.
10) In device manager you should see Android 1.0 with a yellow "!". Right-click on that and update the driver from where you downloaded 1wayjonny's driver.

Done, with no luck: instead of Android 1.0, I get a normal GNex install; with fastboot I did get it to show Android 1.0, and installed Samsung Galaxy Nexus Fastboot Interface using the downloaded drivers.
When I am uninstalling GNex from Device Manager, it never asks me to delete the driver as well; it asked me once and I can't get it to do that again. With fastboot, it did ask me, and that seems to be the only difference in the process.

Reboot your PC with the Advanced Boot Menu, and load Windows 8 with driver signing verification disabled. Then connect your phone 3 times, once in recovery, fastboot, and in the OS. The drivers will load correctly, and you can then reboot into normal Windows 8 and it will work fine.

Ok I tried this. No joy. The pc still says it cannot find a driver. Yes HTC sync and HTC manager are installed
Remove htc sync and manager, and then use these drivers http://vzw1files.dyndns.org/ADB/ADB_Drivers.zip You will have to manually install them thru device manager.
still says the htc driver is the best one device shows up as Android 1.0
